Fun fact: the actor who played the Emperor said the mechanism that spun his chair failed and he actually did tip toe to spin his chair in a way so it wouldn't be visible lol.
I love that Angry Birds managed to get him to voice the Pig Emperor while EA Gaming didn’t bother getting him for the newer Star Wars Battlefront games
@@TheStarwarsian He was beyond based when he admitted his favourite scene in the series was when he told the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis, the Wise to Anakin in Episode III, especially since he interpreted the script to be that Palpatine was simply retelling the memory of him killing his own master with the energy of a child fondly recalling his first homerun in baseball.
The main hint that Luke and Leia were connected was when she sensed him in the last movie at the end/knew where he was, implying she is force sensitive.
The wild thing is that George Lucas didn't even originally plan for them to be related, but when he decided to conclude the original trilogy with this movie, he decided to make Leia the "another" whom Yoda mentioned in the previous movie
@@MichaelJohnson-vi6eh Considering who Leia's adopted father is and what he knows, it makes sense she got plenty of training for this sort of thing when she was young.
A little non spoiler trivia for yall, the forest moon of Endor was filmed in the Redwood along the West coast and the actor who played Chewbacca had to have security with him so people in the area wouldn't mistake him for bigfoot
Five lines and a badass costume made Boba Fett the fourth or fifth most popular character in this entire trilogy, which meant he was the fourth or fifth most popular Star Wars character for decades.
"I'll not leave you here. I've got to save you!" "You already have, Luke" That gets me every time. You can tell Anakin legitimately cared about Luke and wanted what he thought was best for him, and in the end, he finally did.
For me it's "I am a Jedi, like my father before me." That gets me every time and is maybe my favorite line in the whole franchise. It just carries so much weight when you know Anakin's full story.
Basically it's the armor and suit he's wearing that keeps him alive. The suit is like a respirator for him, but also a prison that the Emperor put him in to keep him in line in case he thought of killing him. But taking the mask off won't kill him right away. He was already dying anyway because the Emperor's lightning short circuited his suit. But he doesn't care. He wanted to die because he wants to be free from his suffering and the suit that the Emperor used to imprison him in.
The Emperor doesn’t actually need the suit to be vulnerable to Force Lightning in order to kill Vader. Palpatine has proved time and time again throughout canon that he can kill Vader with a mere wave of his hand.

I know most if not everyone except tarkin on the first death started evacuating half way through the battle of yavin and although we don't see it, the torpedo canonical took much longer to reach the core. I'm not sure about the death star II though but with how cowardly most of the Empire is, they probably started evacuating when the super star destroyer crashed into the death star or when the shield went down. So not that many people died in the death stars as most people think
I'm convinced the Ewoks weren't just minding their business. They were planning to attack the Empire before the Rebels even showed up. No way they set up all those traps overnight. Like you said, Ewoks are always plotting.
Those traps weren't made for the Empire and there is a reason they live way up in the trees. Nighttime on Endor is not a place you want to be stranded...
@@Nerveroxis Nighttime on Endor being scary is why they know how to make such traps. Fighting the Empire is why they built all those traps right around the back entrance to the base.
In the extended universe, Luke goes on to change that rule in the new jedi order, saying that your attachments are what make you stronger, as it was his love for his friends that helped him defeat the empire.
I am convinced "the jedi are wrong" is a pretty consistent plot point in star wars, though it's rarely tackled directly. (SPOILERS FOR PREQUELS? Do I need this?) The prequels are literally about Anakin falling to the dark side because whenever he forms attachments and talks to other jedi about it they just tell him "let go bro, like chill." and it's incredibly patronising. They list off dogma rather than actually *teaching* their ways.
It wasn't referring to Luke at all. While people can make the personal interpretation it did, It was exclusively referring to Anakin coming back to the light.
@@kamixakadio2441it wasn't referring to Anakin, it was referring to return of the Jedi Order and Luke being a Jedi. It wasn't about Anakin In fact originally movie was called Revenge of the Jedi but then Lucas thought that word Revenge doesn't sit right with Jedi beliefs so he changed it. "True Jedi does not seek revenge" he said
One of my favorite details, and one I didn't really notice when I first watched this, is that we literally get to hear Darth Vader take his last breath. His mask is damaged and the breathing doesn't sound right after getting blasted by the Emperor's lightning but, just before Luke takes off the front of the mask to see his father's face, you can hear the normal sound of Vader's breathing as he takes a breath in, but the mask is fully removed before he lets it out. The moment the mask was removed, Darth Vader died, and Anakin Skywalker lived once more.
Mythbusters did a Star Wars special where they tested the logs impacting the AT-ST with a modern armored vehicle and those logs crushed the hell out of it. Another note, one of the Star Wars Battlefront games has an infection game mode where you play as Stormtroopers at night on Endor trying to escape as a bunch of Ewoks pick you off.
Interesting fact: This movie was originally titled "Revenge of the Jedi". However, the title was changed when George Lucas decided that revenge was not the Jedi way. There is still some products out there with 'Revenge of the Jedi' on them. Some fans of a certain storage auction show may remember a jacket with the title on the back.
The thing about the updated CGI is you can tell the shots that are CGI. If you're looking at it and think "this is good CGI" that was actually a model, a guy in a suit or a matte painting.
33:41 well maybe he DID feel it before he kissed her he just didn't understand what it was. They felt some level of connection and never thought it could be familial so they took it as attraction. This is actually something that can happen in real life when siblings are separated at birth
Unfortunately, there are real cases of siblings being adopted by different families, and then meeting later in life as adults, getting married, and having children, only later discovering the truth. And the truth usually comes out by pure happenstance; in one instance, it was the medical emergency of one of their children, after the DNA of both parents was tested to see which one was a closer match for donation. It's just a really sad and unfortunate thing all around.
@@HickoryDickory86 The real-life effect that prevents physical attraction between genetically similar individuals (which normally would be attracted to each other but it is bad for siblings) is the Westermarck effect. Basically children that grow up together from the ages of 0 to 7 think of each other as siblings (even when they are not) and never form romantic relationships. For most siblings, this is normal and useful to prevent incest. For siblings separated soon after birth that end up meeting later in life, they can be strongly attracted to each other.
Fun fact: the actor who played anakin skywalker (force ghost) in the original 1984 version was Sebastian Shaw. This is the 2011 version with Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.
I think it was a good change, because George Lucas once said that when Anakin became known as Darth Vader in episode 3, metaphorically speaking, Anakin died. But once Darth Vader decides to sacrifice himself and fulfill the prophecy of the chosen one, his force ghost had the appearance of Anakin from episode 3, since that was the last time we saw him that way. (In addition, they also made the change to connect the original trilogy a little more with the prequels)
I feel there's something inherently shitty about editing people out of these iconic movies, both this and the redubbing of Boba Fett. These guys were part of a massive piece of cinema history and you've cut them out for brand consistency.
The Emperor's chair was supposed to be automated with its turns, but for some reason they couldn't get it to work right so they ended up having the actor do it himself. So hidden under the cloak his feet are spinning him.
I love the rancor trainer in Jabba's palace. His name is Malakili, and he was a slave in charge of taking care of Jabba's creatures, and regularly treated the rancors wounds after it was made to kill Jabba's enemies. They grew close and fond of one another until one day, the rancor (named Pateesa) saved Malakili's life from a Tusken Raider attack. After that, Malakili decided he would escape Jabba's palace and bring Pateesa with him. Then the events of this movie happened, Pateesa was killed by Luke and Malakili was left empty and purposeless. Eventually he left the abandoned palace to go to the Saarlac Pit, where he decided he would either tame it or, if he failed, throw himself into it. Unfortunately, after the battle, Jawa's had dug up the sand around the Saarlac and slit its stomach open, scavenging weapons and equipment. Upon seeing the poor creature, unable to defend itself and unable to eat, without a purpose, he wept. After wandering a while, he found new friends. Settled down, began working as a teacher for a baby Hutt and opened a restaurant with the old head chef from Jabba's palace. I'm glad he got a happy ending, still heartbroken about Pateesa. 33:30 Yes there absolutely were signs - the biggest one, by far, is at the end of Episode V when Luke is hanging from the bottom of Cloud City and he calls out to Leia through the force. She feels him reaching out and that's how she knows to turn back.
The reason Leia wasn't originally hinted to be Luke's sister, and why they had a love triangle at first, is because she wasn't originally planned to be his sister at all. There was going to be another woman that should show up and be the sister, but for reasons I don't recall, they deemed it better to rewrite the idea and retroactively make Leia the sister instead.
Too much content to cram in to introduce a new character like that with all the other story to cover. Same reason why in The Incredibles we only see Elastigirl's pilot in the photo. They were going to introduce him, have him do the flying, and die to show the stakes, but it was too much content for the time available. So she flew.
Ian McDiarmid owning the role of the Emperor and going from 'classically trained shakespearean stage actor' to 'attending sci-fi cons because everyone loves this evil lightning guy' is great.
There was ONE sign that Leia was something special. And ONLY one. When Luke was hanging by his one remaining hand from the bottom of the Cloud City on Bespin, he reached out to Ben with the Force and heard nothing. He reached out to Yoda with the Force and heard nothing. And he finally reached out to Leia with the Force, and Leia heard & answered him. It is the ONLY plot point where Leia betrayed Force sensitivity, and a connection with her Twin.
Eh, more like he asked two dead people then a live person. Due to him not trying other live people that is hardly a sign. Now had he tried like Chewy after trying Ben and then tried her maybe that would hold water but he tried two dead people then one of three live people he was close to. Han never would have answered due to the carbonite and we have no way of knowing if Chewy would have been able to pick it up. You have to remember at the time the entire idea of "force sensitivity" didn't exist yet so the answer to the question "was there any indication in the previous movies" is a resounding no. Now you can use meta knowledge people that have no exposure to Star Wars don't have but if the only exposure you have is memes and the first two original movies, there is no logical connection.
@@geekgamer5622 Yeah but WHO that is, there isn't really any clue and even then it doesn't mean they are related even if you do somehow make that leap in logic.

Hey, guys, just a word of advice for the rest of the franchise- There is a very vocal side to this fandom that will want you all to feel specific ways about certain films going forward. Please don’t listen to them and let them sway how you feel due to expectations. Even the worst of these films have a lot to love about them. I’d encourage you to look for the great, rather than what you are supposed to hate. Much love and may the force be with you!
Sequels forever tarnished the Star Wars brand, unfortunately. No way they don’t have any expectations about that. Or you’re talking about the prequels?
yep, while later films can be a big step down in a lot of ways, they are all still pretty fun, if uneven. but hey, if you have the time for a seven season show, watching clone wars does a lot to rehabilitate and flesh out the prequels, I'd love to see the crew react to those after the 11 movies (or 14 if you count the two ewok movies and clone wars movie)
I will admit to being a sequel hater, but that is after giving each movie a chance and coming out disappointed in each one. (7 for being a copy paste with rushed power ups, 8 for making all the setups in 7 not actually pay off, essentially undoing 7, and 9 for basically losing the plot and trying to redo what 8 undid, making the whole story a mess.)
While Luke makes amends with his father, and ends up speaking with Anakin has a force ghost several times. However, Leia ends up hating Vader till the day she dies. She only talked him once after he became a force ghost and it was only to tell him how much she hates him and that she will never speak to him again. Its quite sad but it makes sense I mean Vader destroyed her entire planet and was the picture of evil in her mind during this whole war.
The battle above the sarlacc pit was, and still is, one of my favorite Star Wars moments ever. Seeing how far Luke has come and seeing him kick ass was great! Most of the main cast had some of the spotlight really with Han and Chewie rescuing Lando and Leia choking out Jabba
My favorite description of the Ewoks is the Studio C Wells Fargo sketch where Palpatine says, “It was like Chuck Norris went to Build-A-Bear and created a super army.” 🤣 Also, fun fact: they weren’t initially referred to as Ewoks until the animated series after the movie was released.
My interpretation of “I’ve always known” by her expression is that she’s now actually realizing what this connection she’s felt to Luke means, but didn’t actually specifically know. Plus, that kiss before wasn’t an actual kiss, but to piss off Solo, and she never showed any romantic feelings in Luke like he did for her.
i like that Hayden was never told why he was being filmed wearing that when he was shown as a force ghost but did it just because george lucas told him to
Fun lore fact: The Ewoks were so down to clown with the empire because there are giant monsters called Gorax that live in the mountains and come down every now and then to nom a few Ewoks, that's why they build up so high and that's why they could take down THAT AT-ST so easily. The little dudes are fearless
All the common soldiers know is that Luke went up to the Emperors chambers and now the Emperors dead and he's dragging Vaders lifeless body around. Of course they ain't gonna mess with him. Also they know that the station is vulnerable and probably doomed.
I don't understand how people misinterpret the "I've always known" line. Leia didn't actually know they were related. It means she has always naturally seen him as a brother figure and senced the posibility of deeper connection. Not that she literaly had that knowledge when kissing him. The whole "incest" thing imo is blown way out of proportion. Mostly due to people/ other reactors, only thinking on the serface level and not thinking about it for more than two seconds.
The history of Luke and Leia being siblings: ANH: There was no such plan ESB: Here, Yoda says that Luke isn't their "only hope" and that "there is another". George Lucas planned there to be a sister who would be revealed in RotJ. Only in this movie he decided that Leia should be the sibling. So, no incest was intended😅
Ruff ranting about Boba Fett going down like a bitch is eo funny because I imagine that's how many Boba fans felt too back in the day.😂 Also I always hear that Leia being Luke's sister was a last minute change, because originally George Lucas planned to do a whole new trilogy about his sister but then got so tired making new Star Wars movies that he watched to take a break. So he solved that little plot threat he touched on in ESB here so to not leave the fans hanging.
@@pickleboy6059 fair, although Anakin’s ghost does show up in other places in the comics (idk which of those are still canon and which ones aren’t, disney retcons are ass)

The space battle of Endor is just timeless. It's still so AMAZING. Seeing Green Leader maneuver and crash his ship into the Super Star Destroyer bridge deserves a statue in his honor. Man sacrificed his life to bring it down.
Lol, Vader didn't blow up a planet, that was Tarkin. Vader hated the Death Star project, and thought it was nothing compared to the Dark Side of the Force. That said, he def did have a very prominent hand in the destruction of Alderaan, whether he liked the Death Star or not.
1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue. 2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it through Luke. Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. "Willow" is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share. 7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. Carrie Fisher said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy. 10. Ford wanted Han to die in the last episode. 11. IMVHO this is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After the first six he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly
The reason Vader's force ghost is altered from the original airing is that since the prequal trilogy was made, there was a confirmed face to put to Anakin Skywalker.

Its understandable why new watchers of this epic saga would be confused by Boba Fett's lack of voice lines and hilariously random "death" given he is such an iconic character in pop culture. Boba Fett's popularity actually spawned from his cartoon short in the Star Wars Christmas special. The special was a trainwreck however Boba Fett's segment was actually well received and considered the highlight of the special. His popularity would grow even more after the introduction of his now legendary action figure.
The difference in luke killing vader vs killing stormtroopers is that the stormtroopers are enemy soldiers trying to kill him. However, killing vader would've been killing an unarmed cripple out of anger and bloodlust. Two very different circumstances, only the latter counts as dark side stuff.
A small lore bit for Star Wars: there's actually a lot of untrained Force-Sensitives (in other words, potential Jedi candidates) who tap into the Force instinctively without even knowing. They exhibit skills and abilities beyond an average person, e.g. supreme aim with weapons, uncanny reflexes, being a kickass pilot, premonition, etc. That's why Leia could sense Luke calling out to her in the Cloud City. She's an untrained Force-Sensitive so to answer Ruff's question, yes she could become a Jedi with some training (telling more could spoil stuff you may want do dive into at some point so I won't). That's also why Luke was a badass pilot and marksman despite having no formal training in either as an equivalent of our ordinary village kid. What the training does mainly is allowing to access the Force conciously and on purpose, thus giving a wider range of possibilities, including telekinesis, super-speed (like when Luke jumped out of carbonite freezer), blind reflexes (with that training drone), etc. A little fun fact as well, you guys may have missed. The reason Vader and Palpatine are so confident in their ability to turn Luke is that he's already tapping into the Dark Side a little bit. Those Gamorrean (pig-boys) guards in Jabba's Palace? He Force Choked them just like Vader (though not to the point of killing them, of course). Also, Boba Fett's popularity (no spoilers from movies/shows here, don't worry), sure the first factor was the badass armor of his in the movies, but where he really blew up was the Legends (expanded content beyond the movies: novels, comics, etc.). He had a bunch of great stuff written with him as the main character, the badass bounty hunter who maybe isn't a nicest of guys but has some code of his own. And there's another factor that contributed, but revealing that would be a spoiler.
Darth Vader needed the suit to live (you will understand it more with the prequels), and without the suit only his rage and anger could keep him alive. When he came back to the light, with the suit circuits broken by dark force lightnings, there wasn´t chance to survive.

In this the update I liked the least was adding vader's "no" before he grabs the emperor. In the original and for most of the early updates he was silent. We didn't need audio to understand what was going through Vader's head and his conflict and to cheer when he made the right choice.
Yeah, I hate the change so much cuz it just kills any tension of “what’s Vader going to do?” and thus diminishes the power of his choice and that scene.
@sarahvonhoene I think it was added because Lucas wanted to emphasise Vader is killing the emperor out of love for Luke, rather than power hunger (because that's what Sith desire); could also to have paralleled Anakin's "No" when he chopped of Windu's hand.
@@Imperials3nate But we already knew that from the "father please" and everything else. It disrespects the audiences intelligence. The music, the acting of david prowse even under that costume and the context of what was going on was all that was needed and made the scene very good. The little gremlin, Salacious B crumb, is a Lizard Monkey. Think of him as a parrot-like companion the Jabba finds amusing to keep around. The Mandalorian actually shows two aspects of Monkey Lizards and uses them to show a frequent location's improvement. At the start of the series, early s1, it shows people roasting them over a campfire. S3 shows a troupe of them in a tree, living up to their monkey designation. Nevarro improved so much that people could leave the lizard monkeys alone to live in the decorative trees.
Boba Fett was a Dark Horse character. His armour started out as an alternate Stormtrooper, but budget stopped that, so they painted it green, red and yellow, and made him into a Bounty Hunter. He really has very few lines in the OT movies themselves, but he featured a lot in pre-ESB publicity at the start of the '80s, so it was a lot of secondary materials that boosted his popularity. In the aftermath, he got a lot of secondary media in the form of novels and comics, so that did a lot to support his fame. "The Book of Boba Fett"? Is set after this. I will give you a partial spoiler, but him surviving is something that happened in Legends (the pre-Disney books and comics canon), so playing on that was kinda not a surprise, it was just a surprise because it came with almost no warning. (He first reappeared in "The Mandalorian".) The prequel trilogy also had some of Boba's backstory, and more in "The Clone Wars", telling a story of the aftermath of what happened to him. However the side effect of Boba's fame is it engendered a whole culture and history of the people he descended from, the Mandalorians. Some of that was comics telling the backstory of how Boba Fett got to the place he was in AotC (prequel 2), and video games (namely KotOR), and then TCW carrying on from that. _Rebels_ and Mando carry on what those built (most of "The Clone Wars" was before the Disney sale, so it had underlying Legends influence, but Disney kept TCW in their canon after the sale).
The only indicators of the blood relationship between Luke and Leia was Yoda saying "There is another" when Luke left Dagobah to head for Bespin, and when Luke called for her while hanging from the aerial on the underside of Cloud City, and she heard it. It has probably has come up in other comments, but from what I have heard, George Lucas was planning on a secret sibling, but realised he didn't have time to establish a new character, so decided to make the secret sibling Leia. Also, if you really go back and look at all three Luke/Leia kisses, one is for luck, one was to rile up Han, and one was a kind-of "Stay here and rest". None of them were really romantic. I take Leia's "Somehow... I've always known" as her saying she had a subconscious sense of connection to Luke, but she hadn't really looked close into it before Luke spoke to her, and made her realise what that feeling was really telling her.
There is not one, but two Ewok movies. The first one is better, a nice, family-friendly adventure story. The second kills off all but one of the human family. They are now considered Legends. Wicket, the Ewok who first met Leia, was played by an 11-year-old Warwick Davis. All the other Ewoks were also played by people with dwarfism. The Ewoks were so worshipful of C-3PO for just what you said - gold plating. They have a god that was "The Golden One", so Threepio lived up to their image of their god. I want to also mention, the male singer in Jabba's Palace? Originates from Endor. It is stray Endorians like him that mean Threepio has an Endorian language set to translate the Ewoks through.
I do agree, Artoo is the Main Character - or more accurately, the Cameraman. He is all 9 of the Skywalker Saga movies (OT, PT, ST), he makes brief appearances in Rogue One, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Rebels (and could have traded stories with Chopper). He is a frequent character in The Clone Wars. He has appeared in The Mandalorian, also in TBoBF, C-3PO made an appearance in Ahsoka, so I imagine he told Artoo about it next time Luke came to visit Leia. I don't think he appeared in Solo. C-3PO was also not in Solo, but Anthony Daniels, Threepio's actor, made a cameo there, keeping a record of him being in every Star Wars movie. I don't think Artoo was seen in The Bad Batch, but in trading stories with Chopper he could have heard about the group of Clones with a blonde Clone girl who helped His Person (Hera Syndulla, Twi'Lek who is a main character in Rebels) rescue her parents.
Anakin got a whole pile of injuries. The suit is a life support suit. The Emperor's lightening probably shorted out a fair bit of it, which is why he died. Also, super pasty because of old burn scars and lack of sun exposure. But remember, he died Light Side. He also kinda completed all the parts of the process of becoming a Force Ghost, so Obi-Wan was able to grab him and drag into Ghost-hood. Yes, the third ghost is Anakin Skywalker, as played by Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin in the second two prequels (AotC and RotS). Think of it as Anakin chose to see himself the way he was when he was last Light, so he became a 20-something ghost instead of a 40-something one.
The "updates" you mention are widely considered to be the worst parts of the films. So far all the great "CGI" you've commented on has actually been innovative and well-aged practical puppetry and model shots. No CGI involved.
They were widely considered to be the worst parts because of nostalgia but now that's really not the case. The worst part of A New Hope is still the complete lack of emotion shown in reaction to Luke's parents death, not the rings around the explosions. The worst part of Empire is still the incest, not Ian McDiarmid as The Emperor. The worst part of Return of the Jedi is still the Ewoks, not the Sarlacc's beak.
I’m really excited for Episodes 1-3 because I feel like Ruff will really love them based on what he seems to like about the original trilogy! Can’t wait to see more!
I never liked Vader saying "NO!" when he saved Luke in the special edition. In the theatrical version, he looked back and forth to his son and his master without a word, and chose to save his son who was crying out for his fathers' help. It just hits so much more emotionally with no words.💜
Charles’ soules vader run has made me like it. His run is all about vader going from a “no” (in ROTS) to a “yes” which then adds to context to return of the Jedi being vader returning to that original “no”
I hate so many of the changes. I got jumpscared by that "no" because it sounded like a random soundbite added in, I remembered he didn't say that at all.
Leia simply meant there was always "something"she senses between them. She didn't know she had the force and didn't understand what she was sensing. When he revealed it the force kicked in and the lightbulb went off in her head.
Fun fact: Between Empire and Jedi Mark Hamill got in a car accident, and he had to get reconstructive surgery for his face, which is why he looks different.
I remember when Hayden was grafted into the special edition and people complained because he was so young compared to Sebastian Shaw. I think the real problem is that when RotJ was made Lucas didn't really know just how young/old Anakin was. We now know Darth Vader was around 46 when he died. Hayden Christensen is now 43. If they refilmed his force ghost appearance today, he would still look fairly young.
37:11 Apparently that's what happened with Attack of the Clones. I read it in an interview where one of the actors said that the entire film was shot digitally but the camera noise was so loud that they had to redub the entire film. He was surprised that nobody seemed to pick up on it.
When Luke attacks the Emperor with the saber, Vader blocks him not to protect the Emperor, but to protect Luke. Because at this point he didn´t want the same dark fate for his son.
The reason Luke looks so much older is Mark Hamill was in a car accident that messed up his face pretty bad, the scarring makes him look much older. Also, the ewok show they referred to is on disney+ now, as are the movies, they aren't great but, they have their moments. There is a show about r2 and threepio on there too.
"He's never killed anyone this whole series" Dude, Luke was a killing machine in this movie, not to mention all the stormtroopers in the previous ones (plus everyone in the Death Star)
I prefer the ending with Sebastian Shaw and where Vader doesn't say NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, Warwick Davis says he was 11 when he played that first Ewok.
32:59 After Luke's aunt got roasted, there's literally just one chick in the entire story before this and that's Leia. Who else could it possibly be?? 🤣
Fun fact: the actor who played the Emperor said the mechanism that spun his chair failed and he actually did tip toe to spin his chair in a way so it wouldn't be visible lol.

It was always strange how at such a young age, she is such a good leader and a fantastic shot.
The wild thing is that George Lucas didn't even originally plan for them to be related, but when he decided to conclude the original trilogy with this movie, he decided to make Leia the "another" whom Yoda mentioned in the previous movie

Boba Fett is a perfect example of how character design can be SO IMPORTANT to a character.
Five lines and a badass costume made Boba Fett the fourth or fifth most popular character in this entire trilogy, which meant he was the fourth or fifth most popular Star Wars character for decades.

For me it's "I am a Jedi, like my father before me." That gets me every time and is maybe my favorite line in the whole franchise. It just carries so much weight when you know Anakin's full story.
“Haha, the Emperor is a short king!”
We all just gonna forget Vader is like 6’10”?
6’8 I’m pretty sure but yes point stands Vader’s tall.
Fun fact: Harrison Ford originally wanted Han Solo to die in a self sacrifice in this movie, but George Lucas rejected the idea

(SPOILERS FOR PREQUELS? Do I need this?)
The prequels are literally about Anakin falling to the dark side because whenever he forms attachments and talks to other jedi about it they just tell him "let go bro, like chill." and it's incredibly patronising. They list off dogma rather than actually *teaching* their ways.

I wonder if thats what started 5 nights at freddies?
Interesting fact: This movie was originally titled "Revenge of the Jedi". However, the title was changed when George Lucas decided that revenge was not the Jedi way. There is still some products out there with 'Revenge of the Jedi' on them. Some fans of a certain storage auction show may remember a jacket with the title on the back.
I heard that jacket, among other items, were planted in fan favorite Barry's storage locker...
Fun fact: The genre of music at Jabbas Palace and at the bar is called, no joke, "Jizz".

Yes. The original version had Sebastian Shaw as the Force Ghost. Lucas added in Hayden Christiansen some time after the Prequels came out.
Never Forget.

33:30 Yes there absolutely were signs - the biggest one, by far, is at the end of Episode V when Luke is hanging from the bottom of Cloud City and he calls out to Leia through the force. She feels him reaching out and that's how she knows to turn back.
A note: Warwick Davis got his start as a kid in this movie, playing Wicket.
I think it's rooted in this writing tip: "Two similar characters serve two multitaskable roles? Consider combining them".
He still. Voices The Emperor in animated stuff.
Wait, just one? Wasn't Yoda saying, "no, there is another" after Kenobi said, "that boy is our only hope" another sign?
@@geekgamer5622 Yeah but WHO that is, there isn't really any clue and even then it doesn't mean they are related even if you do somehow make that leap in logic.
@@ShiningDarknes The "other" was going to be a completely new character introduced in the last movie. Just before starting it, Lucas realized he couldn't fit all that content in (introduction, backstory, bonding) so he just made Leia "the other". Even the worst of these films have a lot to love about them. I’d encourage you to look for the great, rather than what you are supposed to hate.

The battle above the sarlacc pit was, and still is, one of my favorite Star Wars moments ever. Seeing how far Luke has come and seeing him kick ass was great! Most of the main cast had some of the spotlight really with Han and Chewie rescuing Lando and Leia choking out Jabba
My favorite description of the Ewoks is the Studio C Wells Fargo sketch where Palpatine says, “It was like Chuck Norris went to Build-A-Bear and created a super army.” 🤣

I don't understand how people misinterpret the "I've always known" line. Leia didn't actually know they were related. It means she has always naturally seen him as a brother figure and senced the posibility of deeper connection. Not that she literaly had that knowledge when kissing him. I'd have been ok (not great as I dislike changing a film from its original form but I'd have accepted it) with hayden if he was forty when filmed or they aged him up but they didn't do that.
@@Senkoau Hayden still looks similar in his 20s and 40s that it’s accurate enough. Better than the older guy.
@@CommanderBly5052 To each their own they could have at least CGI'd out the hair and given him some scarring. Better yet use the actor/face we see with the mask off.
Luke: "There's still good in him, I can save him."
Vader: "Mentions Leia once*
Luke: "So you've chosen death."
Just a funny little detail people seem to forget later on lol.
I was about to LOSE MY SHIT when you guys were talking over seeing anakin’s force ghost. Thanks for going back lol
They would not stfu lol.
"Oh he a little shorty"
Naw, Darth Vader just towers at 6'8".
Darth Vader needed the suit to live (you will understand it more with the prequels), and without the suit only his rage and anger could keep him alive. When he came back to the light, with the suit circuits broken by dark force lightnings, there wasn´t chance to survive.
theres apparently no official copy of the original movie anymore, there will be on VHS tapes or whatever in peoples homes. but theres no official company-owned master copy that could be remade and sent out, the original versions have been lost forever.
What about old CDs?
@@rainbowprism6242 yeha theres old versions of home release etc. But no 'official' original master data or anytjing. They'd have to reverse engineer it from a home release
@@christopherbowers7236 Fans have done exactly that. There's a few "despecialized" versions out there that are easy enough to get hold of, if you know where to look. They're well worth checking out.
I think that Boba was made famous by the Extended Universe, rather than the movies themselves.
No he was huge from the original trilogy. It was because he looked cool and nothing more. The reason they made him a badass in prequel stuff was because popular culture looked on him so fondly.
nah it was coz little boys loved the toy
funnily enough making Boba a silly goof in TBoBF was more accurate to the character than making him a badass.
yeah mostly, I mean, I just loved his armor as a kid, but that led me to seek out the EU stories about him.
He was basically all that little boys talked about after watching Empire.
I hated the change of music in Jabba's palace and at the end. Yub Nub was.a classic.
The no just ruins all of that nuance and treats the audience like they are dumb and need it spelled out to them.
(He first reappeared in "The Mandalorian".)
The prequel trilogy also had some of Boba's backstory, and more in "The Clone Wars", telling a story of the aftermath of what happened to him.
Respect for not simp over the liea outfit.
So they changed Luke’s saber to be green because it would be easier to see in the desert and they changed the ending a few times as well
@33:30 the key hint was that Leia is the only woman Luke's met up to this point aside from Aunt Beru, and she'd be too old to be his twin
The hint was under cloud city where he 'spoke' to Leia.
Every single time I see Darth Vader's death, I cry.
I never liked Vader saying "NO!" when he saved Luke in the special edition. In the theatrical version, he looked back and forth to his son and his master without a word, and chose to save his son who was crying out for his fathers' help. It just hits so much more emotionally with no words.💜
put it in one comment
@Qoobon_ Nah, I'm good.
Hell it's like that in the 2004 DVD version too
Leia simply meant there was always "something"she senses between them.
Between A New Hope & The Empire Strikes Back.
Mark himself says that isn’t true
@@CommanderBly5052 i mean...he aged like 30 years between 1977 and 1980 so...something happened to him.
It happened after New Hope. That is the reason Luke was attacked by the Snow monster in the opening of Empire. It explains his scaring.
The reaction to Boba's death is hilarious; exactly how I felt as a kid lol
Every time I see Ghost Anakin, I cry uncontrollably.
Because Anakin Skywalker is like a brother to me.
0:04 Better Green Is.
😂
37:11 Apparently that's what happened with Attack of the Clones. I read it in an interview where one of the actors said that the entire film was shot digitally but the camera noise was so loud that they had to redub the entire film. He was surprised that nobody seemed to pick up on it.
i mean...attack of the clones is pretty notorious for it's bad dialogue, and flat delivery, that would actually go a long ways towards explaining it.
@@bryanmoberg8408Why would the camera noise affect dialogue? Delivery yes but dialogue not at all.
You better watch, clone, wars, and rebels
21:55 Like how the merc with a mouth pit it, Five lines in a trilogy, and one of them was ahhhhhh.
Immediately breaks the lightsaber 😂😂😂
"He's never killed anyone this whole series" Dude, Luke was a killing machine in this movie, not to mention all the stormtroopers in the previous ones (plus everyone in the Death Star)
I prefer the ending with Sebastian Shaw and where Vader doesn't say NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, Warwick Davis says he was 11 when he played that first Ewok.
Ruff's, Boba Fett mind break is priceless
21:40 For those interested
Bro Luke killed like a million people when he blew up the first Death Star 😂
32:59 After Luke's aunt got roasted, there's literally just one chick in the entire story before this and that's Leia. Who else could it possibly be?? 🤣
Boba fett survived due to his Armor
The reaction to Bobba's death was great.
