    Pinching zinnia plants is a very easy way to promote bloom and grow the best zinnias possible for use as cut flowers.

    Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

I feel like you and I would never cease conversation hahaha. In TH-cam videos however, concise and consolidated explanations work better. Hi, love your content and excellent source of flower information. Quick question...when you plant Zinnias in trays how do you remove them? When in cells it would seem to be easy. Why do you choose trays instead? Thanks!

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers
      @TONYAwiththeflowers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just gently break them apart. I like using the open trays because the plants never get root bound before transplanting. Also, cells tend to dry out very quickly using the winter sowing method. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! :)

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers

      I think it depends on the type of zinnia. Smaller ones are usually fine if they're a little crowded. If they're supposed to produce larger flowers, I would consider thinning them. Generally, a very close spacing will decrease the size of flowers. Hope that helpsd 🌱🌱🌱

    I can’t keep my zinnias healthy all through the summer in Oklahoma(zone7a). They start dying toward end of July. Is it wrong to water them every morning in temperatures of the high 90s? I figured since roots don’t go too deep, the soil gets bone dry every day. Mine never look as healthy as everyone else’s zinnias. I did start watering at the base to avoid mildew. This year I will be trying not feeding them. I heard a good compost is all you need for the whole season. Thanks for the tips and is there anything I’m missing?

      Zinnias are very low maintenance. Sounds like you may be loving them too much. They are a desert flower and once blooming require minimal water and love lots of hot sun.

      Are they planted very close together? Sometimes that can cause flowers to be very small. 🌱🌱🌱🌱

      Not a necessity, but you definitely can. Thanks for watching!

    pinching is the same as dead heading?

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers
      @TONYAwiththeflowers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally, pinching is done once before the plant starts to bloom. Deadheading refers more to removing the old flowers to promote bloom. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    You have beautiful zinnias! How to make my zinnias grow taller? My zinnias are about 15 inches tall and the stems are not as long as yours.

      As long as it's not a dwarf variety, the plants will continue to get taller. Deadheading the flowers regularly should definitely help. Good luck! 🌱🌱🌱

    My zinnia leaves are brown and brittle but still producing flowers, are they missing something. I've applied neem oil on the leaves and also have fertilizer but still brown 🤔😔 what can do to make my zinnias healthier

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers
      @TONYAwiththeflowers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Browning can be cause by a lot of things. First, I would make sure that they're getting enough water. Japanese beetles and leafhoppers can also cause the damage. Good luck!

      I only pinch once, but cut the old flowers off the plant after they bloom. Thanks for watching.

    Do I just do the pinching once or you keep doing it?

      I only pinch once, but continue to deadhead the flowers as they bloom. Thanks for watching! 🌱🌱🌱

    I planted 300 by accident in a space about 1 meter by 1 meter! I thought the packages had 20 in them and they had 100 so I planted 300. Oh no!
