Zinnias were my ‘gateway’ plant into the world of gardening. When I was a child, a bag of Fritos came with a packet of zinnia seeds. I cleared a little spot along our back fence and planted the seeds. I was about seven and I was hooked. Almost sixty years later, I still love zinnias!

Your fabulous video has made me fall in love with zinnias! I am at the end of my life, and I feel I am in the last hurrah of gardening. For some reason after years of ignoring gardening, I became obsessed with planting vegetables and flowers just when I became less able to move, bend over, and bend my knees!

Hi - new sub here, happy to find you. Lots of good info and you present it well, good job! Now I have to go see what else you've done. One thing, You Tube music is awful and you don't need it. It's loud enough when you're speaking that it's difficult to hear you. When you're not speaking, it blares. You are so well spoken that you can carry a video on your own. Keep up the good work!

It was her sanctuary away from the tribe of twelve children. I am now seeing the joy of gardening with it's endless possibilities! I agree with Sue Silva as far as you being knowledgeable and easy to follow. I took notes:)

Hi Amanda! I accidentally clicked your video just now. I've been planting Zinnias since I was 15 y.o. in the Philippines and it brought joy within not only to myself but my family and people who passed by our house. They voiced out their appreciation which made me happy. I'm now 65 and and I've been here in USA for 10 years. I thought I wouldn't have the chance to plant them. When we moved to Utah this year, I tried to plant early in May but failed 3x due to unpredictable frost. Fortunately, I somehow succeeded and the flowers were beautiful! Thanks for your tips because I put shade on them, wet the petals and leaves, I fertilized every 2 weeks and I don't cut the flowers because I wanted to enjoy them longer. I learned a lot from you.
I shared this video to my sisters and friends in the Philippines.🏵️❤️👍

So......never planted any flowers before. It’s always been vegetables. So I ordered veggie seeds from Baker Creek and they sent me free Zinnias with my order. Right now, they are only maybe an inch tall and I only germinated 14. I realize, now that I planted them wrong ( because I planted them in a tight group, but....this video taught me so much + just how many varieties there are AND how to do this correctly the next time. I will be growing them every summer from now on. Thanks so much!!!!!

In fact, they can quickly take over large areas which makes for a lovely ground cover! 😊 (They're easy enough to pull up, too, when necessary.) Thanks for these tips 🙏🏾. I’m going to be starting a garden and this is my first time growing flowers, veggies, and fruits. The flower I choose is Zinnias. I’m glad I choose a beginner friendly flower. I’m really excited and nervous to get started, but videos like this help me feel prepared to go out of my comfort zone and try something new.

Great video, and lots of excellent information. I'm in zone 4B-5 in Eastern Ontario, Canada. For some reason I have never grown Zinnia's in all my years of gardening, so this year I've purchased several pkg's of different kinds, and looking forward to having so many beautiful cut flowers over a long season! :)

@@shesamadgardener They may be sold out. I have used half of the 50 seeds in the packet I got from Burpee months ago, and I could put the packet envelope with the remaining seeds in a postal envelope and mail it to you, if you are in the U.S., at least. Canada, too -- I'd just need to figure out how to do it.

Thank you for the tips. I bought some zinnia seeds from the dollar tree and thought what the heck if they don't germinate I am only out 25 cents.... they all sprouted. I can't wait to get them outside. Still almost a month to go before the last frost here in southern Ontario Canada. I hope I can keep them alive till then. :)
