Fred Tracy what’s so good about that? I think it’s better that nowadays more people can embrace their sexuality and be themselves without being judged for it.

I'm a 55 year old black guy and I loved Nu Shooz in the 80's! This song and I Can't Wait were my favorites! I listened to that type of music as well but I also liked a lot of music like this (I just couldn't enjoy it around my judgemental ass friends) 😢 Now that I'm an older man, I listen to whatever the hell I want to and don't care what anyone says! 😊
Lol... well said. In many ways it was an upbeat, outward looking, sophisticated decade that showed through in the music. Hope that when I die I can beam back down to 1986!!

Probably because not a lot of people bought the single or it became more popular on the radio only in certain regions of America. This definitely did better on the radio in cities.
Anyone who hates today's music should check out New Retro Wave... There is an entire movement bringing back the sounds of the 80s, with a bit of a modern twist. Artists like Timecop1983, Bart Graft, Trevor Something, Mitch Murder, Phaserland, September 87, etc are all NEW artists who were heavily inspired by the golden age of music. Some of us young cats (born in '91) love these sounds as well.
“I Can’t Wait” spread like a virus from the moment it was first released independently in 1984. Then, when it was released as a single in The Netherlands while they were still virtually unknown and independent and the record label there had a “Dutch Mix” made for the single release there, it became hugely popular in dance clubs worldwide.

It's not just that this is simply the greatest music video ever produced. It's that I can't IMAGINE a better music video. Stop motion animation in 1986 was a PAINSTAKING process and Wayne Isham is nothing less than a GENIUS. When the shoes start forming flags, you realize you are watching a work of art for the ages. Also, kudos to John and Valerie together now for over 40 years!

Saw them perform in 2015 at a freestyle concert in Long beach, CA. Lisa, Lisa, Sweet Sensation and much, much more. The crowd was so happy, just amazing vibes the entire time. Miss these days.
It's mind blowing to think about how much music changed from 1966-1986. If you look back from 2000-2020, there have been musical trends, but nothing as radical as what happened in the late 20th century.
Yup. That seems true with most things. In the last half of the 20th century, every decade had a distinct identity. The differences in music, cars, clothes, and styles were vivid and unmistakable. It does seem like 2002 to 2022 has been one long era with only subtle changes in aesthetics. It’s like we’re stuck in the same time period, just with more advanced phones and meaner politics.
Only heard this for the first time ever a couple of days ago on TH-cam. I love it. I much prefer this to the famous 'I Can't Wait' though I like that too.
Totally agree. I only discover this about a month ago and I love it. I had heard of the title before but never actually heard the song but it popped up my suggested videos a few weeks and I'd give it a listen. I love it when I discover new 80s tunes, to me anyway, as if they were brand new. I love it.
The 80s were a time when music melody and lyrics turned into a dance expression. It was enjoyed from within and expressed outwards. Really made people happy and almost nothing else mattered when you heard it! Between the time it was first televised and radio transmitted to the present time (when most of it is 5H!+).
Stationed in West Germany in 87... lots of crazy alerts and training...but when we were off...man...the 80s are worthy of the memories. 2024...57 now and I still can close my eyes and see the social scene back then...outstanding....outstanding.
I'm from San Diego and went to live in Phoenix Az. in 1987. I had a brand new '87 Toyota mini truck with a nice Kenwood tape deck and 10 inch MTX woofers behind the seat. This song shook the ground underneath my truck when I played it. It was a glorious time.
Too many to count probably. One of the most memorable moments on Central was when Taylor Dane passed us riding on the the back of a motorcycle. Me and my friends all looked at each other and said, "Na, it can't be her!" We were listening to local radio station at the time, maybe KZZP or something, and they confirmed our sighting. Cool times.
@@Sosidedan true story....my brother had a lifted red Toyota and was there that night...she wanted a ride and climbed up and they went for a cruise lol her favorite colour was red so it was a perfect fit lol good times indeed!

Such a beautiful, happy, uplifting voice. I bought this cassette when it first hit the stores in 86, and still love this jam today...
Also, kudos to John and Valerie together now for over 40 years!
..oh, THANK YOU for this comment!! ...even in Summer, 1986. I KNEW this Video was PAINSTAKINGLY long to make!! ...we're talking frame-by frame shots, moving the shoes bi INCHES, stop motions....W@W! ...Classic 80's dance Song, with a CLASSIC Video!!
Uh?
Peter Gabriel?
Nothing like 80s music best of the best ❤❤❤
Saw them perform in 2015 at a freestyle concert in Long beach, CA. Lisa, Lisa, Sweet Sensation and much, much more. The crowd was so happy, just amazing vibes the entire time. Miss these days.
Sweet sensation! I haven't heard them in a long time. Cover Girls too!
This song was on heavy rotation on LA’s Power 106 back before they switched formats and fired all the on-air talent including Jay Thomas.
Why ?
@@lexkanyima2195Probably because the listenership and the ratings was low. It’s whatever will get ratings.
One of my all time favourite songs of the 80s. A great trip down memory lane
Back in the 80 there was greatness greed and the start of in excess...
This was a "Funky Jam" disguised as "80's Pop". It is so well crafted that it still hits hard in 2022 . Great Song!!!
What a great song!!!😘❤️
Between the time it was first televised and radio transmitted to the present time (when most of it is 5H!+).
i love 80s music it's all i ever listen to lol i hardly ever listen to the songs that come out today they all sound the same and are so boring
Everytime I hear this song it sticks in my head for days
I second that.
The Anamation is on point
80s STILL RULE!!!!💯💪😎
Valerie Day is so beautiful!!!!
Jammed to rhis song in the disco with all thise cute guys and pretty girls...fantastic memories!!😊😊❤❤
I believe Valerie Day is still married to the guitar player of Nu Shooz. She is still cute and a good singer.
This can be such a dark song wrapped in an uplifting beat! I love it and I love the 80s. So glad I grew up in this era!❤
i remember this..i had just finished high school..it reminds me of so much that happened in that period of my life..from Nairobi kenya
Crazy 80s memories!! I was 11 when this song came out. My friend and I lip synced this song in the mirror. Such innocent fun and I miss the 80s!
Hi Rebecca,hope you’re okay ?
I just wish I would have appreciated this time more when I was living in it.

It. Was. Awesome... I'd do it again in a heartbeat
Missed out bro
It was the best.
Driving around with your windows down with so much to jam to.
Hate to say how awesome it was. But it was awesome
A girl I had a crush on looked just like her back in the 80s. Hair and everything. I was crazy about her. I still am she is the greatest wife ever!
I wish you a happy marriage my friend!
Valerie was a cutie back in the day, half the reason I listened to their first hit song, I can’t wait, was because I thought she was sweet looking.
Love this song too!! We used to crank it while cruising in cars around town in the 80’s!!!💪🏻🎉🤟🏻👌🏻💜😎Alexandria, Indiana 🎉🔥🎤
Classic 86
Stationed in West Germany in 87... lots of crazy alerts and training...but when we were off...man...the 80s are worthy of the memories. 2024...57 now and I still can close my eyes and see the social scene back then...outstanding....outstanding.
This was a good upbeat '80's song, and the girl was really cute.
80s was the best musically so far throughout time!! In so many ways
This was a really great era! The 80s forever in mind!
I hear ya man...Those were some glorious days!!!
Wonder how many times we passed each at metro or on central lol
Too many to count probably. One of the most memorable moments on Central was when Taylor Dane passed us riding on the the back of a motorcycle. Me and my friends all looked at each other and said, "Na, it can't be her!" We were listening to local radio station at the time, maybe KZZP or something, and they confirmed our sighting. Cool times.
@@Sosidedan true story....my brother had a lifted red Toyota and was there that night...she wanted a ride and climbed up and they went for a cruise lol her favorite colour was red so it was a perfect fit lol good times indeed!
Thank you Mr. Meatpants, my kids thought my Taylor Dane story was B.S. You just legitimized my experience for them. :) 95% of each of my stories are actually true. I just embellish about 5% tops.
I love that song
The beat absolutely slaps 🔥
I would sell my soul to go back to the 80's! :)
Carefree times when everything wasn't shit. Screw you, FatherTime!
Love song young free with walkman amazing days
Phil Hartman and Nushooz, my '80s must go to listening R&B music. ❤️🥰❤️
Wouldn't trade any decade to grow up in the 80's was the best and so was the music and this song was fire and still is.
