A 16 yr old couldn't imagine what kind of a person would make a piece as beautiful as this one. So I'm here in my 50's and still grooving to this song
☺️☺️☺️
This wasn't even one of Nu Shooz top songs back in the day. Kind of flew under the radar. But it has stood the test of time, and now is a Banger !!!!
Like if you are listening in 2024.
This is one of the prettiest songs ever recorded.
Timeless....the 80s were the best sound of music...
Indeed

I agree. Younger people don’t know what they love. They don’t know they love remixes from the 80’s. I have nieces born in the 90’s that don’t know Queen Latifah was a rapper. I wish you could have seen their faces when I played Wrath of my Madness. Priceless.
@@kashimanatyovenda3511 I Fully Agree With You.
YES!!!
It may not have been a big hit BUT I'm so glad NYC radio played this especially on 98.7 KISS FM. I'm 53 now and love this song the same as when I was 17.
We had the best music in NYC................Hands down.
You know this song was great because no one attempted to remake it. Love this song.
To late it's a remix and sample song
@@joshua8650 it is?
@@DoitNXS yes it is 😂
@@joshua8650 can you post a link to the original please? Providing there is a TH-cam of it I would love to see it!
@@joshua8650 looks
I first heard this on the school bus heading to high school one morning. Our driver in the morning usually had an R&B AM station (yes, AM, not FM) playing on the bus speakers. Never figured the singer was a white lady. I love how music so often transcends cultures and colors.
I'm shocked to find out over 3 decades that it's sung by Whites
@@oluwemimoolatoye5561 I think quite a few folks were shocked :)
Whites. Hehe I'm glad I dont live in America. Calling people blacks n whites. Nahh.
We don't see anything from new artists that compare. People really felt what they were blessing us with. That's music 🎶
We were blessed 😇
And for you young cats out there............This is what the 80's felt like. I truly wish I could live out my remaining years in that decade.
33 years later & I am STILL dumbfounded as to WHY this jam wasn't a MONSTER hit. Maybe people got so accustomed to Nu Shooz club bangers that they weren't ready for a ballad? Or maybe Atlantic Records didn't believe in the song & didn't push it? I just don't know. This joint is straight FIYA🔥
It was in my country!!! Nigeria 🇳🇬 ❤
it certainly was a banger in Ghana back in the 90s
It still became a top 40 hit but I agree. It is such a beautiful song. Valerie is really cute in the video.
This was almost a hit single in America. It just missed the top 40. My guess was it was too subdued for pop radio. There is no doubt this single flopping was the end for Nu Shooz. Pop radio and the public at large didn’t really care for their music after this.
@@RocStarr913 not in Africa man... We loved it..
One of my favorites from Nu Shooz. I never get tired of this song 💜
Me too.. when I met my husband he was playing this song and I was carried away
@@sadialefteye9689That's beautiful!
DITTO!!
Who still watching This With me in 2024?
Shame on me for not remembering this song and video (I'm 47) I guess because it was so much competition back in the 80's and 90's. But now that I rediscovered this song ,it's going on my rotation for sure!! This is Mike D the music lover I'm out 🤙
WITH REGARDS AS OLDSKOOL MEMBER PLEASE SEND YOUR NUMBER THANKS
Always love it❤❤❤
Its me who will remaining watching with you ..this is solid song released 1987 from album, " Told You So" being in my Std 9 not grade 9 that year, heading to be in Matric( Std 10) in 1988., it doesn't go any where.. here it will remain one of my favourite songs of all times... It waked me up being played from SABC Radio Lebowa,, mohlaka motala, the evergreen, thupana ntswikitswiki e fihlang le borwa..
Me!!
One of the 80's BEST... Hands down...
Lovely. The song reminds those old days!
This did better on the R & B chart than on the pop chart, peaking at #17 R & B for the week ending 1st July 88. As everyone here says, it's timeless
Best song ever....can't get enough of it! With Love from Tanzania
😚❤😎👊
Much love from south Africa
Underappreciated.
Maxim Mooney not by me 😀
Tragically so.
Totally over appreciated. I can't believe they had as much success as they did.
Rocking this for 35 years! Still a badass jam
I was a 16 year old black kid in '85 when I Can't Wait by Nu Shooz was on the radio every 30 minutes and all over MTV. I remember taking shit from all of my friends for liking that song. Because Run DMC and LL Cool J was what we all were listening to at the time and Nu Shooz didn't fit. But I said to hell with that! I'm listening to whatever the hell I want to listen to! You can't close your ears to black music if you are white or white music if you are black. Music has no color. Especially good music.
This song was a Top 20 hit on the R&B charts I was from DC and heard this on Urban radio.
@DRock-zd8gl - Spyder D's version would have solved that with your friends
Absolutely dude 👍🏻
Who still listens to this music, besides me in 2024?
Pure 80s. Pure perfection!
For music, yes it was; because music provided some solace to help me with a rough period that I was going through.
Being a big Jeff Lorber fan I was immediately drawn to Nu Shooz this song exudes class, they have a number of good songs
Can’t beat that outro. I’ll love this song forever…and ever…forever and ever…and ever and ever.
Agree. Haunting, emotional.
This used to be my dad's favorite jam ❤️Rip Dad 💔
same
I actually had a Dad who passed on in 2016 and he loved this song. I totally relate❤
my dad doesn't have a favorite jam, or a favorite hobby, or even a favorite book, or a favorite tv show, thinks it's all just a bunch of nothing, but really HE is nothing and would never be enough in touch with his emotions to appreciate the art form and unfiltered expression that is music
.....GETTING OVER A BIG LET DOWN AND LISTENING TO THIS SONG WAS A BIG HELP , THANK YOU NU SHOOZ.......
Music that don't fade.
One thing I appreciate about Nu Shooz is that they do not put out junk. Some songs are better than others, but none are garbage or pure fillers.
THIS SONG IS THE ABSOLUTE BOMB! THE MIX IS SO STRONG! STILL SO FRESH TODAY!
This may not have been a big hit but this is their best more soulful
Yeah it’s vibe takes to a certain kind of good chill feeling.
Listening to this in 2020 and the nostalgia is hitting me so hard. Still a great song

Miss.S Harrison sounds like 1988 to me

Best 80's music even this days we can't get such beautiful music again

Brings back memories from 1988, was working real hard to go all the way with my beautiful virgin girlfriend, she told me this song influenced her decision to finally say yes 🌹❤️ What a great song
I haven't heard this song in years. Really, since I was a young girl in middle school. I still enjoy listening to it. 😊
I enjoy the song also, but it brings back some painful memories for me.
A classic song !!

😍😍😍😍😍my mom told me she used to sing this song when she was Young. She just told me the title then I searched for it, she is really happy and reminded of her past ❤️❤️
One of my go to songs when I'm deflated by life.
Valerie Day is simply adorable! Still is, 30 years after their biggest hit, which wasn't this one, but this is nice. Still with hubby John Smith, and still working the West Coast. Great!
Been looking for this song for a long time now. One of the best songs in the 80s
Love this song so much
nu shooz had that fire that the 80s was famous for..I can listen to this to the end of time
Love that voice never gets old
Hello
Oh my GOD, can't believe I'm watching this great song of my growing up back then in festac Town lagos, now I understand the lyrics! GOD bless the poster of this song.

This song seems to have a timeless sound i think it would have fit in all decades and still be a hit.
2020 and this song still sounds awesome!
Nostalgic.... Even nakes me cry
This Was A Great Era Of Music Period🎯🕙🌏🌐
Timeless song. Released a year after I was born.
This was a massive track in Ghana and Nigeria back in the 80s.
Africans have awesome taste in music. I always see comments about songs that didn't get as much play in the US, but are so good.
This song should have reached 1 million views by now -2022.
I haven’t heard this song in so long …..reminded me of my late mother she used to hum it cause she didn’t know the lyrics may her beatiful soul continue to rest in peace❤
Always a class act! Nice to see them going for a cool dark vibe.
Lyrics
My friends all tell me
What they think that I should do
So much confusion
When it comes to loving you
So many reasons
Why we should stay apart
My mind tells me one thing
Should I listen to my heart
Should I say yes, should I say no
Wish I knew you better
Should I say yes, should I say no
Should I say no
We may be different
But there's one thing that stays the same
I know I need you
In a way that I can't explain
So many reasons
Why we should stay apart
My mind tells me one thing
Should I listen to my heart
Should I say yes, should I say no (I wanna know)
Wish I knew you better
Should I say yes, should I say no
You won't wait for me forever
Should I say yes, should I say no
Wish we were together
Should I say yes, should I say no (Whoa, no)
Should I say no
My mind tells me one thing
When I'm listening to my heart
Will we be together (Will we be together)
Or will we be apart, yeah
Should I say yes, should I say no (Whoa, no)
Wish I knew you better
Should I say yes, should I say no
I'm writing you a letter
Should I say yes, should I say no (Whoa, baby)
I wish we were together
Should I say yes, should I say no
You won't wait for me forever and ever and ever
Forever and ever and ever and ever
Forever and ever
Forever and ever, forever and ever

This is an immortal song for me.

Timeless. ...
Boom still listening to this in 2021 reminds me of good times with my late dad
But in 1986 when I fell in love with a girl named Veronica this song was playing in her big brother's 64th impala..she looked Hella proud, i just remembered feeling Hella nervous when I kissed her!...we stayed together till the wheels came off!
One of the best songs ever

Intelligent use of electronic instruments makes the song still sounds fresh.
Have to leave my comment here also...part of the gems knocking my early childhood.
