I was in a hotel in Philadelphia listening to my Walkman in the hotel room looking out the window when this song came on. I was a 14 year old wanting to explore the world at large. We had just left Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and our family got orders to Italy as my Dad was in the Navy. I never knew who the artist was till way later otherwise I would have gone to the mall and picked up the cassette before my flight out. Good times. 80s music was the good shit!
God I love this song! I remember when everyone thought this was Madonna back when it first came out lol. Why is it that once you start listening to these fire 80's hits, you end up binging on all 80's music (no matter the genre 'cause they were all bangers) for hours on TH-cam? Nothing and I mean straight up nothing will ever dominate the music, culture and fads of the 80's! So blessed to have lived and experienced the enlightening 80's. This 55 year old will always be an 80's child!
Note that Regina actually co-wrote this song with Steven Bray, and it was initially offered to Madonna who declined. What's interesting is that Madonna actually helps in the background harmony vocals in this song!
