What no one seems to remember is that both the olympian and egyptian pantheons do exist in the Cthulhu mythos.
Cthulhu’s minions actually tried to invate Atlantis and the olympian gods had to intervene.

Lemme put it into perspective.
In lovecraft there are 4 main realms. The physical realms, the dreamlands, the ultimate gate, and the void.
In lovecraft the physical realm is the world we live in except much older, infinite in size and has 3 dimensions, being height, width, length.
Now the dreamlands is basically an infinite spiritual plane where various alien species can enter via extreme magical means or being a dreamer. And a dreamer is basically just someone who can manipulate reality anyway they want. And every civilization has there own separate dreamland realm for their specific planet.
It also has infinite dimensions.
Now then there is the ultimate gate ( which is just Yog-Yosoth) and that contains infinite different universes again all with there own infinite physical realms and different dreamlands.
Now beyond the gate is the Void where the elder gods live. The elder gods include things like Cthulhu, Nyolarotep, Azoth, etc.
And Cthulhu is able to talk to people all the way from the void. Not only that but a long time ago Cthulhu gave all of humanity the godlike powers by becoming dreamers. Just the entire race of humanity being able to manipulate and change reality. Eventually humanity forgot about it but Cthulhu did give them this power.
And Ryleh the city Cthulhu is supposed to pop out is basically a portal that again goes all the way to the void and to the physical realm to let Cthulhu unleash his full power.
Also Cthulhu should know every possible spell relating to elder magic since he gives people the knowledge all the time and he can regenerate like it’s nothing even if he was damaged. Not to mention being able to shape shift and change his size to anything he desires. And even if you somehow kill him 2 things can happen. He either is born again by his daughter for round 2 or he just goes back to the void B/c the only way to kill an elder god is to make Azazoth wake up and delete the infinite universe and all other realms.
So just by scaling alone Cthulhu is beyond multiple infinity, beyond time, beyond reality warping, beyond the Greek gods, and far far far far above kratos. The only way Kratos wins against Cthulhu is if he uses a weak avatar like Darkseid and even then I doubt he Kratos would win.
And again Cthulhu isn’t even the strongest being in his verse.

The dragon in this scene is Tiamat in Babylonian mythos she is a goddess of creation, if I am not mistaken. She would likely be more powerful than Cthulu as Cthulu is not even the most powerful being in Lovecraftian lore.

Eh they make Zeus too weak. In mythology he’s described as basically being a cosmic god that’s king of the cosmos with his brothers. Also would probably be able to control the electric magnetic force on top of other universal forces. And he also has a true form that has turned people to ash or insane (like Cthulhu) Zeus and his brothers are Op as hell. Don’t think cuthulu could even take on one of the big three. Let alone three at the same time.

If there was a god of war sequel for Kratos to Cthulhu and the other eldritch gods in this awesome epic battle yet Kratos may have difficulty against them and so will the other gods from different pantheons.
It's a shame zeus couldn't summon the power of a small steam boat. If I remember correctly, Cthulhu got fucked up pretty bad by one of those in the book!

@@melonman1276 Cthulhu was defeated originally by having a ship rammed into his head* .I do love the mythos, and I'm not really keen on the GoW series, but I believe that Kratos can hit a *bit harder* than a big boat.
(I am aware it did not kill him, and that he was regenerating as R'lyeh sank back beneath the waves; all it really did is hurt him enough that he missed the time for the stars to be right, and thus he has to wait for the next alignment. This does not change the fact that he was at least temporarily incapacitated by being rammed in the head with a ship.)
Really, the big deciding factor is whether Cthulhu can drive Kratos mad, either with corrupted dreams on the lead-up to the fight (which I think is his best chance), or by reaching out to him mentally once they're in combat. If Kratos is vulnerable to mental manipulation, then he is *screwed beyond understanding* . If he's not, then...well, like I said, Kratos can hit harder than a ship.

They said they wouldn't be adding anymore due to Lovecraft's infamous racism. (And homophobia, anti-semitism, etc. But those are less overt in his writings/letters)

Are you referring to the instance in which a ship passed through an unformed, barely-tangible manifestation - less than a shadow or reflection, more like a stray unconscious thought - of Cthulhu? That was certainly not accidental, nor did it have any effect on Cthulhu; it was not even an inconvenience to that small fraction of Cthulhu's sleeping consciousness, as the thing (however you wish to describe it) immediately reformed after the vessel had passed through it. Besides, this was at a time when Cthulhu should not even have been able to exist in our reality.
From my (admittedly secular) studies of Greek mythology, I have found no evidence of power within Zeus' arsenal which would allow him to interact with or even comprehend Cthulhu's existence. But if you know of a source canonical to the Hellenistic religion which mentions the Olympians being able to transcend all earthly terminology, including concepts such as battle, power, abilities, movement, existence, reality & fiction, surpass omnipotence and interact with higher-dimensional beings existing in a non-spatial and non-temporal plane an inaccessible cardinal amount of dimensions above the space-time continuum that modern science can begin to comprehend, then you are of course welcome to enlighten me.

The whole point of that book was that he was waking up and was about to take over the world, but a boat skewered him and he went back underground to sleep it off for another several centuries. From what I know Cthulhu even within the mythos does not rank all that high among the gods, being one of the lesser ones. I know later authors have added onto the mythos and made their own canon so I’m unfamiliar with newer lore, just what Lovecraft wrote. For lovecraft, I always thought his “gods” were only called that by their human worshippers but were really inscrutable entities from space, and were alot more biological than mystic
I would recommend reading the Iliad by Homer to get a good gage of Zeus’ power, or Jove depending on the translation. There he is described as being Omnipotent and the god of gods. He was truly on a whole other tier. He’s certainly much more than just a lightning dude
