I've never really properly addressed this video in a way that explains everything, so let me do that here because the comments I constantly see in my comment feed are sometimes pretty wild lmao Okay, first of all, this isn't a mod I had anything to do with. I did not commission this mod, a different TH-camr did. It was not made for me, and it was, at the end of the day, disappointing and lacking in any kind of substance. I'd argue the only thing that helped playing through it was the other insane mods I did indeed forget to disable before recording. I AGREE WITH YOU HERE, in no way should this video relay that I think the mod is good at all, I'm just not as harsh sometimes when giving criticisms in video form. Now, in the beginning of the video, I mentioned (I might actually remove this part, because it's already been talked about anyway and I don't want it to keep drama stirred up) that the "idea" for bringing lovecraft into Subnautica as a full-scale mod *was pitched to the developer of this mod*, and that idea was instead yoinked by a different TH-camr, whom I have a past with and who has done a lot of yoinking of my content and ideas over the years, and the dev was paid to make this garbage so a video could be made. What this means is NOT that I was the "only person who thought to put Lovecraft into Subnautica", but that I was the one with the idea to do it with this dev, and I had pitched it to this dev already and we had started working on ideas. Instead, this other TH-camr comes in after getting wind of the idea, fronts money to throw together a mod to release a video on it. Now when I say "this isn't my vision", I am simply saying that this mod is clearly made entirely for TH-camr content, specifically for this one, and it isn't playable at all, nor fun for casual players to download and install. I don't think this mod ever even got uploaded for others to play, and I sincerely doubt either the TH-camr or the dev had any intentions on developing it further (they didn't). I had plans to make the mod I had planned on funding as fun and immersive as possible for PLAYERS. While the subject matter does make for good content, it was important that people would have access to play it and actually enjoy it. It was going to take a lot of time, thought, and probably money. This mod was none of that. That's essentially what it boils down to. In no way would I ever be that naive and say something like "I'm the only one to think of this idea". I think the way I worded my statements in this video definitely don't serve me well but if you listen to them carefully, it's all there. I'm just saying my idea with this dev was nabbed and made into some cheap YTer mod, which I also clearly am taking advantage of here in this video lol, but you know what I mean. This is essentially a garbled mess of a response but I'm so many years over due. Please stop with the comments about it being a bad mod, I know it is, that was kinda the point of the video, and please stop with the comments about me saying I'm the only one who had this idea. Thanks dawgs.
You having to explain is literally the reason I hate people today. If by the title people didn't understand that you didn't like this mod, then that's there own dam problem. That is the biggest problem with people today, they don't want to learn or figure things out themselves. They want to go be shown how to do everything and anything and if not, and they have to do it themselves, they hate it or dislike it.
You know what this mod could use? A madness meter. The more you get exposed to crazy stuff, the more your madness increases. The higher your madness, the more you can see what lies beyond reality, so the weirder things get, like invisible fish that you normally can't see become visible, maybe even hostile (they're not hostile as long as you can't perceive them), and maybe some bizarre recipes start popping up in your PDA.
I agree. Making creatures bigger doesn't make them scarier. They look incredibly silly with the erratic animations, clipping and lack of proper scale. I wish I could mod. I would properly set a path for large creatures, decrease their movement speed and improved their textures so they don't look like a small creature that has been stretched.
Fun fact: In the book Cthulhu is literally incomprehensible to the human eye. what the drawings are and the idea of him is loosely based off of what one guy said before he died.
And that's what makes the whole mythos so hard to put in a game. To this day, I feel like Bloodborne has a really admirable grasp on how to achieve Eldritch horror within a game and not go the cheap route of just not showing, but also keeping the air of mythos surrounding the gods. You DO encounter eldritch things in that game, but they are always implied to be lesser versions, to be just figments of dreams, portraying the imagination of other madmen and the true cosmic horrors are kept right there in the cosmos.
For those that don't know, the aurora is a KILOMETER long. Subnautica has this weird fov issue, and most of the entities look way smaller than what they actually are. For comparison, a peeper is almost the size of the head of the player, but once you catch it, it easily fits in your hand. For another comparison, the reaper leviathan is actually the size of a blue whale. So you can imagine how ridiculously massive the larger leviathans are, even if they may not look like it.
Damn this is the first time I feel conflicted about being mad at igp but man your raise the best point ever like it was so hard to see what the mod actually had showcased vs all the other junk. Igp be droppen the ball this time.

The mosa is the smartest being on that planet. It cant be drug to the bottom of the ocean if it's flying to another planet without slumbering gods and IGP to spawn gargs
Do you know what mod that mosasaurus is from? I’m looking for creature mods for subnautica and yet I can’t find a single one other than the de extinction mod.
Next time remove all the other mods, especially the one that makes the creatures big, the first time seeing the tentacles wrap around the aurora you missed the animation because you were too busy looking at the Mosasaur glitching because of the giant creatures mod
The mod that makes everything large, looks like it is messing with the animation plus mod for the intro of the Cthulhu mod you installed to your game IGP because when the ship blows up the ship background shows the animation for the Old One's tentacles rising from the sea to grip hold of the ship along with a unique scary scenic background change added with voice giving it a strong intimidating Old One nope vibes :3 That said, the Make everything larger mod may be messing with the experience of the mod your trying to play. Still cool to see you play the game with the mod ICY just unfortunate that the 2 mods don't work well together as it might have look even better had they did :3 Anyway wishing you and anyone that reads this the best with good health and safe travels :3
Never actually seeing Cthulhu is the right way to go about it. In any video games, the big fella rising from the ocean is only going to be about as impactful as Godzilla. What this mod appears to be doing is properly ascribing that cosmic feeling of Cthulhu's maddening presence.
I'm sorry, how many mods are installed here? It might be safe to assume that not all people who watch this video is intimately familiar with all of them, so if you want to showcase a particular mod, it might be a good idea to install _only that mod_ for the video. Out of all the weird shit going on in this video, I have no idea which bits are from the Cthulhu mod (other than the obvious, the voice and the tentacles) and which aren't.
A decent amount of stuff in this video are from the same mod. The resizing mod does definitely conflict, but the mod he’s reviewing made the strange attempt to add in a bunch of random creatures in addition to Cthulhu. Because, you know. OBVIOUSLY you have to add in dinosaurs and a metallic chrome griffon like thing to a horror mod about an ancient lovecraftian god. It’s kind of a mess right now in development from the looks of it. The tentacles on the aurora and gun aren’t original models, but free placeholder models. Overall, there is promise but I just don’t understand why dinosaurs and the other bizarre thing add. (The mod also adds in extinct subnautica mobs if I’m not mistaken)
Lots of people have the idea in general. For me it was because I already had a lot of specific ideas that I gave along with the pitch directly to the person who made this mod and another TH-camr. It wasn't just "hey let's add Cthulhu to Subnautica".
@@IGP I should've rephrased, your vision, I can't wait to see your vision of the mod come to life. Obviously you weren't the first and only person to have the idea but you have your own take on it, that's what I look forward to seeing.

I like how they did his voice, at the beginning you can make out a few words, but it’s SOOOOO hard to understand what he says. I did catch something about “the center” I’d that has any significance.

Mosa: I'm Mary Poppins y'all
Do you know what mod that mosasaurus is from? I’m looking for creature mods for subnautica and yet I can’t find a single one other than the de extinction mod.
18:21 AHHH IT'S PURPLE!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Next time remove all the other mods, especially the one that makes the creatures big, the first time seeing the tentacles wrap around the aurora you missed the animation because you were too busy looking at the Mosasaur glitching because of the giant creatures mod
Towards the end of the video I love how the mosasaurus flies
5:29 Hello there!)
The mod that makes everything large, looks like it is messing with the animation plus mod for the intro of the Cthulhu mod you installed to your game IGP because when the ship blows up the ship background shows the animation for the Old One's tentacles rising from the sea to grip hold of the ship along with a unique scary scenic background change added with voice giving it a strong intimidating Old One nope vibes :3
That said, the Make everything larger mod may be messing with the experience of the mod your trying to play. Still cool to see you play the game with the mod ICY just unfortunate that the 2 mods don't work well together as it might have look even better had they did :3
Anyway wishing you and anyone that reads this the best with good health and safe travels :3
what mods are you talking about? Could you please give me names
Never actually seeing Cthulhu is the right way to go about it. In any video games, the big fella rising from the ocean is only going to be about as impactful as Godzilla. What this mod appears to be doing is properly ascribing that cosmic feeling of Cthulhu's maddening presence.
Also most who actually 'see' him end up dying anyways
They say this game couldn't get scarier
IGP: "I regret EVERYTHING"
Me: -LAUGHS IN BLOODBORNE HUNTER-
Finally someone who plays bloodborne
Right, I need to get back to that one. Thanks.
Will always be my favorite game, right next to Bioshock 1
Imagine if IGP played bloodborne
Hello, good Hunter.
Yeah, and there's highly likely conflicts which mean that you're not even showing it in its best light.
Yeah they're clearly conflicting
To be fair he doesn't want to showcase it, he wants to rip on it. But he still has to do a thing on it due to its popularity.
@@asmosisyup2557 he doesn't HAVE to do anything, he's getting free content out of it
A decent amount of stuff in this video are from the same mod.
Intense gasping every 20seconds of a modded floating tentacle 10/10 content 👌
Might I recommend removing the mod that makes everything a lot bigger than usual, it seems to be conflicting with a lot
Ever think that there’s so many creatures that aren’t hurting you because Cthulhu is “feasting on your sanity”?
He is basically tripping
Exactly what I was going to type.
No there are so many creatures cuz he has 200 other mods loaded so it is just buggy mess

I mean it's not a unique concept, I think even jacksepticeye pitched it once
Lots of people have the idea in general. For me it was because I already had a lot of specific ideas that I gave along with the pitch directly to the person who made this mod and another TH-camr. It wasn't just "hey let's add Cthulhu to Subnautica".
