I didn’t know this at the time, but Ford has to OTA update the lighting in order for the truck to work at a Tesla charging with an adapter. I purchased a lectron adapter and it would not work and I was not happy…until I received an update saying that the Tesla chargers are available to use. After the update, I can charge at designated Tesla stations
This is super helpful. I am close to buying a new lightning and though we already own another electric car we only charge it at home. I've been wondering about the ease of use with Tesla chargers. With the $12.99 plan per month plan, you get the same price as Tesla drivers. So roughly 30% cheaper. Only fair since by buying Teslas they helped pay for network. You can choose to only pay for that month that you're going on a long road trip. Or you can pay a one time payment of $99 for a whole year. That's basically the cost of one fill-up on an ICE F-150. So either one is totally worth it. And Ford needs to get their act together and give customers the kWh speed they're charging at on their EV's screens. Everyone else is able to, why can't Ford.
