I realize this is a month old now so you may have already solved the issue, but I think the initial problem may have been with Ford's plug and charge. I was having trouble trying to initiate a charge at a Tesla station like you were but once I turned off plug & charge in the Ford app and tried again it worked flawlessly through the Tesla app. I've heard of other's with the same issue.

My plug and charge has never worked, Im pretty sure the issue was due to it being hard to press the Tesla handle into the adapter. But after some use it's gotten easier to use.

Didn't ford send you an adapter. Use that at your won risk.
