A PSP Go modded with the M2 MicroSD Memory Card Adapter and PS Vita Battery(with bigger back plate) is the ultimate pocketable handheld. An amazing little machine!
Great vid, I added a PSP Go to my collection a few years ago and every once in a while I'm still coming back to it... The last digit of the model number is in fact the region-code, 0 is Japan, 1 North America and 4 Europe...
I remember back in middle school when my friend had a Wii U because it was something different as a brand new console that matches Nintendo switch before it came out and it was so fun, super Mario bros, splatoon, Zelda and Batman was THAT good in terms of graphics. But I still had a Nintendo Ds and also a Psp go because it’s like the earlier version of the switch where you can connect your Av HDMI cords to the tv while taking on the go.
an easy way to get that back online is to either find wifi that dosn't have a passworld or you can go into your router settings and set up a wifi guest account without a password, that should let you get online again easy.
Watching this from Sacramento! Just checked out Fair Game recently myself. I also recently picked up a PSPGo after only having the PSP 1000 back in the day. I now have a Go, a Vita, and a 1000 model. Long live the PSP! Btw after playing all of them, the go is my favorite. The form factor is great and I love the sliding mechanism. So satisfying.
Most likely your 2.4 and 5 wifi connections are combined, you will need to separate them in the admin settings to connect to the wifi. PSPs can only get to 2.4.
I still can’t believe I bought the white glacier psp go from eBay a while ago in mint condition for only $100. Came with screen protector on & clear hard case shell. Its modded as well. Something tells me dude who sold it is regretting it to this day lol
Really enjoyed this John. Was nice to see old tech working - I remember buying my first PSP - I imported it from Japan and got hit with loads of customs charges lol
I bought my PSP Go off a college student in my town. Great system. Played a bunch of PS1 and PSP digital games on it. MIDWAY (greatest hits) rocks for this thing. Shame we don't have Sonys portable love anymore.
I wouldn't mind picking up a PSP Go nowadays as a backup since PSPs are so easily mod-able at this point, but I remember being skeptical of "all digital" when it came out. The PSP is such an amazing console though, and I still fire my 2000 up from time to time.
Me too, on the idea of all digital console and the firing up of my old PSP one grand. They work and it really is a testament to how cool these things Sony made for our pockets were. You get it!
I absolutely loved my og PSP. It was a massive success for Sony and had so many great games & playing movies was a neat bonus. Current WiFi routers are too advanced for the PSP so I believe you may need to get an older router to successfully connect. Too bad the PSP Go had small internal memory and Sony’s proprietary memory cards were costly.I almost bought the Go but purchased a 2nd PSP 2001 instead. Just felt PSP could do everything the Go (yes it’s more compact) could do with bonus of playing physical UMD’s. Vita wasn’t as successful but too bad Sony is currently out of the portable market.

That is one nice and clean looking PSP Go! I never had one back in the day because I was totally against an all digital system. I owned several PSPs, and eventually a few PS Vitas. I did however pick up a PSP Go a few months ago, and I modded it, but there's only so much you can put on that 16 GB of internal memory. It's still a unique and compact system to add to your gaming collection.
All digital was fine. The problem was certain games didn't appear on the digital store. A big one being Crisis Core. I think, at the time, it was only way to play PSP games on a TV via a docking system so it was a cute switch-like device.
Another issue is it released 3 generations into the life span meaning a lot of people already had a physical library that would have been useless if they brought a Go
@@speedwaynutt It's got more appeal nowadays as you can run 100s of games off on an SD card now, there's not much need to collect UMDs unless you really want a copy.
I love the white psp go. Such a stylish console! They even run Ps1 natively so you can add games without even hacking it. I currently own 2, a black one for a Psp library and the white one for an all japanese Ps1 library. Couldn’t be more happy.
I have the white Go since launch, as well as the red God of War PSP-2000. For the psp Go, a few yrs ago I picked up the Sony first party Component video charging/tv dock (was not cheap but I wanted it before it went higher). Love the PSP!!!!
I had one that I found at my cousin's house probably because they didn't like the all digital idea and it was cool but it was smaller than my white Star Wars PSP so it didn't feel as comfortable to hold with my big hands. I eventually hacked it and sold it on Ebay. The PSP was my go to device for music, movies, and games especially when I started working as a School Bus Driver from 2006 up until I got my first smartphone a Samsung Galaxy S2 in 2013.
It’s weird, after the OG Gameboy, I never bought another handheld system. I think part of it was the OG Gameboy was so janky it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. But the other thing was I never understood playing games “on the go” once I exited childhood… then fast forward to the pandemic and I went nuts for old handhelds. I ended up buying every handheld ever with a specific focus on the DS/3DS line. Now it’s my number one system I play, at least for now. The 3DS is so hackable and easy to install software on it has all my retro needs in one place. I could literally never add another game to my collection and just bring around my one New 3DS XL and have enough games to keep me busy for the next 20 years.
I have my Vita still. Works great. Okay, so it's modded out for GBA and SNES games, but it works great! Which I guess is why they cost a bit on ebay. Next step, get one to mod for PS1 and PS2 JRPGs.
It’s a great handheld , I use it way more than my switch because mine is full of PSP and ps1 games , I’m not a Nintendo guy , I only bought a switch for the ports , once I can hack my switch it may become my favourite handheld

Get a dock, a PSP Go Component video cable, an AC charger from a UMD model PSP (or many other Sony devices), a 16Gb M2 Memory card, and a spare Dualshock 3 or Sixaxis controller, and boom - you've got a PSP Switch for playing PSP and PSone games on the move, or on the TV. You will have to initially connect your DS3 to a PS3 to configure it to work with the Go, but after that, it works wirelessly with the Go seamlessly. Worth doing.
The one thing that I really hate about the PSP goal is the power cord. They had to go and make a whole new cord for the go instead of sticking with the same one that all the other PSPs used.
I love mine, and my super rare dock that uses semi-standard component cables (it uses headphone connectors that break out into female component connectors) instead of the PSP go cable
not sure if its already been mentioned or not. Chances are your home network does not have separately broadcast SSID's for 2.5 and 5ghz networks. the PSP is only going to be able to scan for a 2.5 ghz network ssid. A lot of current Modem/Router combo's from ISP's are piggy backing them these days and depending on the hardware you might not be able to split them. If you have separate Router you should be able to go into your router settings and make sure the 2.5 is set to have its own broadcasting SSID. Once thats done the PSP should be able to see the network and be able to connect up.

I have always liked the look of the PSP go, especially the white. The all digital is a bit of a setback but I'm sure majority of people hack these to add games/movies? Definitely something I hope to buy eventually. The local pawn shops that I've seen usually have either the PSP/PSvita (I own a PSP) but I haven't seen a PSP Go in years
I remember I was around 22 my mom like why you keep getting new psp bc it’s cool lol only one o didn’t get was psp go which I knew nothing about it til they discontinued it. Til this dsy I still play the Star Wars white bundle psp
I went to a retro game store called "G.A.M.E.S." and it has so many psp gos and ps vitas they usually dont have much of either but this time there was more ps vitas and psp gos than normal psps [there was 2 normal psps]
Yep, just came to say the same thing. Psp go comes with just 16gb storage and the highest memory stick that it allows is 16gb, but those are getting VERY hard to find
I actually just picked up a psp go a few months ago. It is such a great little system. I wish I had one at launch. Right now I have been playing some old school OG Playstation games on it like Parasite Eve and Twisted Metal. Any other suggestions?
The PSP doesnt' support modern Wi-Fi network security. That's why you couldn't use your home network. If you set your phone up as a hotspot with security, you can still connect. I have tested this with the PSP 3000. Unfortuntely, the store was shut down last summer.

Your wireless router is probably a higher bandwidth, which isn't compatible. If you have one of those 5G/2G signals, it should work on the 2G.

I have always liked the look of the PSP go, especially the white. The all digital is a bit of a setback but I'm sure majority of people hack these to add games/movies? Definitely something I hope to buy eventually. The local pawn shops that I've seen usually have either the PSP/PSvita (I own a PSP) but I haven't seen a PSP Go in years
where do you order a brand new one?
The PSP was great. I have the 2000 model.
I just got a boxed one of these too!
I remember I was around 22 my mom like why you keep getting new psp bc it’s cool lol only one o didn’t get was psp go which I knew nothing about it til they discontinued it. Til this dsy I still play the Star Wars white bundle psp
As PSN database ended up getting hacked, it was probably for the better that you avoided to put your CC-information on there back then.
I have a psp go had it for years but the screen needs replaced and I think a new battery because it dies fast
I went to a retro game store called "G.A.M.E.S." and it has so many psp gos and ps vitas they usually dont have much of either but this time there was more ps vitas and psp gos than normal psps [there was 2 normal psps]
I would not mind owning a modded one with a full PSP library ;)
Good luck finding memory cards for it. It's a pain.
Yep, just came to say the same thing.
Psp go comes with just 16gb storage and the highest memory stick that it allows is 16gb, but those are getting VERY hard to find
@@charlieunderwood2123 I haven't seen a 16 in several years. I have 3 8gb and 2 4gb cards.
Unfortuntely, the store was shut down last summer.
your setting from the router must be 2,4 not 5. with a smartphone Hotspot you can change that easly. sorry for my bad English.
Does the work around still function properly where you can connected to a hotspot, if, you had one available?
connect*
