Unboxing a PSP 1000 japan import in 2022. It's not been opened since 2004! good as new?

This was the PSP I could never afford as a kid, the PSP 1000, when I was finally financially able to get one, it was already discontinued and the used ones are in terrible conditions, I wish I could get one someday

just grabbed a second hand one off buyee and well the person who owned it diddnt have a charger so he marked it as junk cause he couldnt see if it worked and so i grabbed it expecting it to be broken but nope everything works from UMD to buttons to sound to charging etc so thats a lucky grab for me haha only downside is i had to go into recovery to change O to X and then someone navigate through the UI in japanese to turn it to english haha

I am considering buying a new psp 1000, what would be the consequences if the battery could have exploded?

sometimes the battery door is lifted /broken from the battery department,
because of the bloated battery.
but there are aftermarket ones for replacement.
the aftermarket batteries though are another chapter,
because most of them don t hold the charge and are crap.
i recommend to get some infos which brands are okay in terms of battery life and charging.
( ostent, cellionic fe.)
my psp 3000 works great with the original sony battery,
my psp 1004 had a bloated original battery which i had to replace.
