Andrea Piana As a beginner bike? Whoa. Be careful. Riding is the most dangerous at around 2-4 years of experience as you get overconfident about your abilities. Awesome bike though, i was kind of between the 10 and Tracer 900, but after testriding the 10 i decided ill endure the slight decreased comfort in long runs (the MT-10 with some touring mods is still perfectly fine, just not as good as the tracer) for the 10s chasis and engine. Just absolutley love that bike. When i returned to the dealer after two days (rented it for 2 days as a longer test ride, got the rent much cheaper), i just walked in, pointed at it and said in a childish voice "I want that one". Rode one out the door an hour later.
@@SportSoulLife It's my first motorbike for all intents and purposes. I did a few days on the track in the past with a friend's R6 but I had no experience on the road with other bikes. 5:25: R1 and MT wheels are not the same. R1 wheels are magnesium, MT are cast aluminum. But you can bolt up the R1's wheels to the MT (I've done it). Lots of people also think that the MT has a detuned R1 engine. Not so...differences are cylinder head, conrods, compression ratios, cams, larger airbox, non-active velocity stacks and only one set of fuel injectors for the MT.
The newest SP and the R1 are much more similar, but still the head is different, and the cam is possibly different. The gearing is 100% different, but still a fun bike.
I mean I'm biased so I'm gunna say the MT10 is better of course. Also, if you guys don't have a big enough set of balls to get on one of these bad boys we just did a baby version of this with the R3 and MT03 to help ya boys out on which to buy.

Well, it's one of the worst fuel gauges I have ever seen on the motorcycle. I don't know why Yamaha even bothered to put this useless thing on. The way it works it shows you "full" most of the time and after a while changes to "half" and the moment it changed to "half" from"full" You literally have 10-15 minutes of riding until it used all of the bars very quickly and the fuel light comes on. You must track the miles if you want to know how much fuel you used and how much is left.

The R1's suspension is absolutely brutal on rough roads with sharp edges like potholes, sink holes, and root bumps, even fully loosened up. It is like literally getting donkey punched in the nuts sometimes, almost debilitating if you hit a bad one you didn't see coming. The R1M's electronic suspension is a pretty noticeable improvement when set to its softer settings, but still pretty firm on those types of sharp bumps. However the R1 and R1M are overall more refined than the MT10, especially the fueling. I would take an R1 any time the speed is over 75 MPH, and the MT10 any other time. The R1 is insanely fast without feeling fast. The MT10 conveys a sense of speed, which is probably better from a survival stand point on public roads. The R1 aero is actually pretty good, keeping a lot of the wind off the hands and legs in cold weather, while on the MT10 you are going to get cold. The current gen R1's engine is SO smooth, all the way to redline, as is its shifting... just feels like a really top quality, highly refined combination. As good as the R1 sounds, the MT10 had more of it, and sounded even better. I hope to try the new gen 2022 MT10 very soon... hopefully it has been refined a bit in the fueling department to match the R1's level of smoothness.
I’ve had 9 super sport/liter bikes of nearly every manufacturer that I track and daily but after a bad wreck I can’t comfortably ride a SS anymore but thank god for supernakeds becasue I test rode every Supernaked and was really impressed with the MT10 , to have the cross plane crank 998 and Yamaha reliability and service dealers everywhere I was leaning MT10 and made my decision when the Yamaha dealer had 11 MT10’s and they weren’t selling so they marked 2 of them down to $9,900 and no dealer fees to move inventory so my decision was made. Decat pipe, keep the factory muffler , it’s titanium and lighter than many aftermarket and a larger internal diameter than a lot of the aftermarket too. You now have Moto GP sound . I put EBC brake pads on, a race filter and reflash and man it hauls ass. The torque is so damn awesome and down SO damn low!

Obviously the R1 is always gonna rip away from the MT10 eventually but not quite like that.. when you done that 2nd gear run dude shorted shifted the MT10 from 2nd to 3rd before it was even in the top end power.. 🤷🏻♂️ WTF.. Throttle control will keep the front end just off the ground and accelerate a hell of a lot better than that
After owning two Kawasaki 636’s and a ZX-10 over the years, I gave up my love for supersports for the hypernaked Z-H2. Aside from the supercharger, I absolutely love the riding position and the cruise control. I’m never going back😊😍
Just finished taking my motorcycle license and I took it on a Yamaha MT-07. Great bike. I ended up buying a used hot-red Yamaha Diversion from '97 though. Now I also get to learn how to live with a choker and only old-fashioned gauges. XD
I have a 2001 gsf 600s it has low miles and has no problems. It's my beginner to ride again after 20 yrs break bike. Love it. All the fun of riding short of all the simplification eltronics.
Choice . Stating the obvious, on the track R1 (gearing and fairing) , on the road MT10 . So therefore most of the time I'd take the MT10. Why more manufacturers don't offer their nakeds with a half faired option, like the Suzuki GSXS1000F sure beats me. A lot of riders on the road don't want all the plastic around the engine, but a bit of plastic to stop the head buffetting would be good, along with upright handlebars. A kind of midway between the current nakeds and full on sports bikes.
I own an MT-10 with Toce Exhaust w/ flash. And everywhere I go people are attracted to the sound and HAVE to say something about it. It is the meanest bike I've heard on the road. I'm in love with it.
i'm just throwing it out there.. the most fun about having 2 'main guys' is that there is a kind of rivalry (friendly) going on. Top Gear, Zack and Ari,... I sometimes get the feeling you guys always try to make the same point. And then you finish each other sentences and it seems (to me) that the other guy tried to say something else. Don't be scared to contradict or have different opinions (even about facts) in these vlogs. I mean you guys have alot of subscribers and i still watch your videos from time to time, but i have a feeling this is not the optimal 'setup' for you guys. just wishing you all the best! thanks for the content :)
I’m a weekend warrior and I only ride to have fun. Don’t really commute with the bike. I traded my fz09 for an R1 lol but for sure I can tell you that it’s not as comfortable then the fz09 that’s for sure lol
There are only four components that the FZ-MT 10 share with the R1. The main frame, swing arm, bottom end of the motor and the exhaust. Purchased my FZ in 2017 and it still never gets boring!!
When i hear people say they "clutch up the fz09/10 " i cringe. I power wheelie my 09 up to 90mph. Cruising as 90mph on the highway in 4th gear if u nail it and literally just give up up motion with your hands its standing up....for as long as you need. I havent been on a mt10 yet but i will soon. Cant wait to see if its meets my expectations
The MT-10 still caries the look that the MT-01 made, 15 years ago. Which is great, keeps the lineage going. The MT-01 is a monster of a bike, I own one and is sooooo much fun!
Twisted road is a bitchin service. Highly reccomend it. That's what let me try out the scrambler for a few days before committing to buy it, plus i got to hit some Colorado canyons
Recently bought an '09 speed triple & related instantly when U said how the mt-10 is a rocketship, you guys should try out the speed triple, the sound & torque, ROCKETSHIP!
I've been waiting for this one! FYI, the ECU flash and aftermarket Quickshifter/Autoblipper will completely change everything about the MT-10. Oh, and it's pretty damn good on the track too.
Can confirm. Am a FZ-10 owner and I have swapped out the axial front master cylinder for a radial master cylinder, installed an auto blipper and have flashed my ecu. This bike is truly the bee's knees man! It is literally prefect and I I will never get rid of this bike!
I ride a naked and the issue with nakeds is that beyond 60mph it gets too hard and tiring to ride. You're just completely exposed to the airflow and being in an upright position exacerbates that. At the same time, sports bikes are too aggressive. What I want, is the engine configuration and spec of the MT-10, on a bike with a fairing just like the R1 but larger so that it disperses more of the air around the rider, clip-ons but slightly higher and a softer, slightly wider seat. See what I'm getting at? A sports-touring version of the MT-10, a "VFR800F-type" R1, if you will. I have a good hunch it will fly off the showroom floor. Sport tourers are already the most popular bikes, the issue is they're either "standard-type" with flat bars and small fairings or they're lanky "adventure sports" like the Tracer.
Ya, I would definitely get the MT-10. I would imagine a quick google search and you would find plenty of aftermarket windshields that you could put on it for the windblast...
Mt-10 is the best all around bike for me. Does everything I need. The only thing that irritates me about the mt10 is the price and the people who bought them new and think they’re worth way more than it really is. Good luck finding one under 12,000 dollars any amount of miles.
I've got the 2014 FZ1, but with half fairing. I love the bike. I bought it last year, and put almost 6k on it, including 2k in one week. You don't want to spend that much time on it until you replace the stock seat. But other than that, itis comfortable to just eat up miles.
Hahaha me too bro! I got a 2015 pearlwhite Z800 and love it , but it feels to slow till you hit 8.000rpm , then you feel the insane torque! It’s a beast , but i’m carving for a ZH2 , but too damn expensive 😞 my dreambike is a H2!!
Owned an MT-10 for about 12k miles. Great all rounder bike - did track days and touring and everything in between. Even decent with a pillion. Great engine and chassis, with just the wooden feeling brakes and really dated dash being disappointments. Really reliable. But in the end though I could never warm up to the looks. If you don’t mind them then it’s hard to beat this bike at this price point.
I had a CBR1000RR and did everything I could with it and wanted to do more than short trips. The FZ10 I got is like a Swiss Army knife it does everything that I need. Touring, track days, cruising and just plain old having fun. I have tons of accessories I can put on take off it’s like many bikes in one.
Great comparison. Spite did get one thing wrong though. I've had my MT-10 up to 147mph indicated on the track and it was still pulling on the 0.5 mile front straight when I had to break for the next corner. Videos are posted on my channel if people are curious.
WOW you guys actually help me deciding wich one of those bikes I was going to buy....because i like both of them...Winner is Yamaha MT10 that torque with less hp is something. Thank you guys so much.
Not going to lie was talking to a individual with great knowledge in bikes. He told me if you have the balls of steel get a naked bike but if you want to cruise around highways at high speed while avoiding windblast go for super sports.
PLEASE YAMMIE, let me win this MT-10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Single dad of a 7 year old and have a psychotic ex who still has her sharpened hooves in my back. I’ve commented on like 8 videos about winning a bike. Just so you know it’s not SPAM. Plus, I live in Alabama. Nothing great ever happens here. You can change that! And it all starts with helping this guy out with his dream bike. I’m a crane operator and spend 12 hours a day in my cab. I switch from days to nights/ nights to days every two weeks. I need this bike for my sanity. Your future riding Squid buddy. Chris Jones.
I got a MT10 and love it. Does everything I need it to, especially wheelies. I also got full coverage insurance for 1500 a year compared to the r1 which would have been 6000 a year so that was a dealbreaker as well
Ryan Polanco , what age are you, single I assume, and what does your driving record look like? Because you shouldn't have to ride an ugly bike just to get reasonable insurance.
The MT-10 has the least amount and least sophisticated electronics out of all the Hypernakeds I have ridden. But tbh, aside from cornering ABS, the more decked out electronics add nothing for me when it comes to street riding. And it was BY FAR the most fun out of all of them (1290 Superduke R, CB1000R, S1000R, GSX-S1000, MT-10, all with maxed out packages). The things I'd change: remove the quickshifter, lower, more forward bars. Everything else would be fully optional stuff like exhaust, indicators, windshield etc. The usual stuff
FYI neither of these bikes are "top of the line" at Yamaha. The R1M has fully electronic Ohlins and the MT10 SP has electronic Ohlins plus the TFT dash from the R1. Also, an exhaust and flash are necessary to get the throttle perfect and unlock 180hp from the MT10.
It was between the mt09 and the Ducati scrambler. I got the Ducati because it's a piece of art, but the mt 09 power was something I was hesitant on. I think I chose the better intermediate bike. Not talking about it from a money standpoint, just become friends with the techs at Ducati
Its the R1 for me, and I am not gonna apologize for that either. Better components, better aero, vastly better looks, and yes you do sacrifice a little bit of comfort but man.... when the roads get curvy you just can't beat the Sportbike riding position, let alone going to a track. I don't think the MT10 is a bad bike at all, but its a compromise. Its like going to a fast food restaurant and getting the salad instead of the burger. Yes its more mature, yes its better for you, and yes it still fills you up, but was it really what you were craving?
I’ve got 2010 r1 and 2017 mt10 , the r1 is a race bike and can’t be softened enough for roads, enter mt10 and it’s a corner to corner weapon with the mid range. By the time the r1 is wound up the mt10 is there . I love both my bikes but If I was riding my r1 on the road I couldn’t get near myself on the mt10!?! If that makes any sense whatsoever…if you are lucky enough to get any of these you will be happy, I have not been passed by any r1 on the twisties when I’m on the 10 , until the straight. And that is the difference between the two
Had a sport bike forever. Just bought a Speed Triple and now ask myself, why the hell did I ever own a sport bike forever? The riding position, just everything about the naked is so much more enjoyable. I thought the wind would bother, but without the plastic I can barely tell the difference.
I like the comfort and usable power of naked bikes. but I also like the fairing look, which is why I'm a huge fan of the r7. now if only they made an r9 with the mt09 engine, I'd sell a kidney on sight.
Rode a sport bike for the first time ever yesterday. Not gonna say it was life changing, but it was close. Kawasaki has their demo truck at my local dealer so of course I had to partake. Rode the Ninja 650 first. It was pretty great. Power was comparable to my Lowrider. It was different obviously, but it felt familiar. Liked everything about it. Then I decided to ride the ZX-6R... Holy mother of God was that fun. The ergos sucked. I was uncomfortable the whole time. That said i could have rode that street missile for another hour. I fell in love.

Yammie Noob Good point.
I’ve been waiting for this video😂
Yes, the video that begged to be made
I never thought about this but watched it anyway
Same! Now how about a “MT-09 vs. MT-10 comparison/ which one is right for you?” video... 🤔
I’m never going back😊😍
Nice you have a zh2 already? Didn't they just come out
Brandon Clayton I believe it became available in February or March of this year.
I like the super nakes for the ease of maintenance it's like having a braless woman once you get the shirt off it's all hands on
You mean like almost as if she is "Naked" 😂?
Cafe fairing
We authentically speak about the motorcycles. Sometimes we think the same thing. Watch our Harley content to see how we differ
That red light misery was so relatable I started sweating. Thank you Georgia humidity.
“It rips fat fucking wheelies” is what sold me.
Spite sounds like he's speaking into a large forum from all the echo I am hearing.
I bought a R1 sold it bought a MT10 and i have never looked back or regerted it for one second love the MT10
How long did you have the R1? Bought an R1, but not sure if I made the right choice..
@@noeagosto9231 I gave it 3 months of riding everyday no matter what weather.
I really just like the way the naked bikes look I’m planning to get my first bike in December I can’t wait
Did you get one? What'd you get?
I’m a weekend warrior and I only ride to have fun. Don’t really commute with the bike. I traded my fz09 for an R1 lol but for sure I can tell you that it’s not as comfortable then the fz09 that’s for sure lol
I want to see spite on a Street Twin or a T100. I bet he transforms from Harley Fan Boy to Triumph Simp in a blink of the eye.
God, triumph twins are just something incredible. I absolutely adore triumphs twin bikes....
Brain: Wow the MT10 seems like it would be the more practical and better choice for everyday riding.
.
.
Heart:
Looks like I'm going with a R1.
Wallet: ain't gonna happen, lol...
Back & wrists: Siri, give me a list of chiropractors near where im riding today?
i am old!😁
That's my thoughts too. The mt-10 just makes more sense in every way, but god damn having an R1 would make my life.
Facts, people just want more
My thoughts exactly. The older I get, the more comfort I want but I just can't do it yet. Keep my rides to an hour or less.
Fan from Philippines 🇵🇭 ride safe
Dude I ride 120 miles for m my round trip to work on an R6. They’re comfy enough and I’m 35 with 2 separated shoulders and surgical repairs
The MT-10 still caries the look that the MT-01 made, 15 years ago. Which
is great, keeps the lineage going. The MT-01 is a monster of a bike, I
own one and is sooooo much fun!
Sweet crossplane sound intensifies
Got a 2017 fz10, absolutely love it.
Twisted road is a bitchin service. Highly reccomend it. That's what let me try out the scrambler for a few days before committing to buy it, plus i got to hit some Colorado canyons
I am not a “fast boy”. I do like one that may be thought of as one. Kawasaki Z900rs cafe.
Plus love the w800 as well.
2:40 40mph in first gear? are you serious? my man please shift up
Recently bought an '09 speed triple & related instantly when U said how the mt-10 is a rocketship, you guys should try out the speed triple, the sound & torque, ROCKETSHIP!
I've been waiting for this one! FYI, the ECU flash and aftermarket Quickshifter/Autoblipper will completely change everything about the MT-10. Oh, and it's pretty damn good on the track too.
Parked next to a MT10 last week, had all the toys. Probably a bike people would enjoy upgrading.
Great video, thanks. It's one of the two for me but I'm leaning towards the R1 since I live out in the country of flat west Tx and I love top end!
MT10 without a doubt. You can enjoy riding TO the track as well as on it. With the R1, you could only enjoy it on the track.
You can enjoy an R1 off the track as well
I just picked up a 2020 MT 10 and it feels more nimble than my previous 2013 636, and it's a billion times more comfortable.
I've got the 2014 FZ1, but with half fairing. I love the bike. I bought it last year, and put almost 6k on it, including 2k in one week. You don't want to spend that much time on it until you replace the stock seat. But other than that, itis comfortable to just eat up miles.
I want to give both Spite and Yammie huge props for running about 40ish mph while on that twisty. That took sssoooo mmmmuuuccchhh self control!!!
MT10Sp. I still have a smile every time I get off mine. You'll get used to refuelling it all the time but apart from that it's great.
That red light struggle here in Texas is real
Thank you for posting this bro. Awesome video man
Just bought a 2016 Z800. Two weeks in and I’m already craving more powa
I love the MT10 have an FZ09 first gen I'm going to get a new bike soon this one is getting up there with miles at 40k now
Great comparison. Spite did get one thing wrong though. I've had my MT-10 up to 147mph indicated on the track and it was still pulling on the 0.5 mile front straight when I had to break for the next corner. Videos are posted on my channel if people are curious.
@MoMo BaBa advice to live by!
This video has MCM and Revzilla vibes, I dig it
WOW you guys actually help me deciding wich one of those bikes I was going to buy....because i like both of them...Winner is Yamaha MT10 that torque with less hp is something. Thank you guys so much.
I traded in my GSXR750 for an MT-10 and couldn't be happier. MT-10 is such an amazingly fun bike for riding around town with.
Yamaha needs to make a Mt-09 supersport equivalent.
I think they will to replace the R6
Not going to lie was talking to a individual with great knowledge in bikes. He told me if you have the balls of steel get a naked bike but if you want to cruise around highways at high speed while avoiding windblast go for super sports.
It’s obviously more practical to get the MT10, but there’s something about getting the best of the best, no compromise, sexy performance of the R1.
I bought a 06 vulcan 900 for my first bike, now I have a mt07. What a difference.
I dont have to live that life
*_but I want to_*
I got a MT10 and love it. Does everything I need it to, especially wheelies. I also got full coverage insurance for 1500 a year compared to the r1 which would have been 6000 a year so that was a dealbreaker as well
Where do you live? I’m 19 with a ‘15 R1 and with full coverage I pay just under $1k a year
Ryan Polanco , what age are you, single I assume, and what does your driving record look like? Because you shouldn't have to ride an ugly bike just to get reasonable insurance.
You guys finally improved your color grading! Awesome!
Mt10 for the win! I love mine. Tuned. Pipe. 520 chain. It’s super fun. But I’d love to have that r1 next to it for those daily 💯
AWESOME VIDEO MR YAMMIE! 🔥🔥🔥
Yammie: I only go to track 10 times a year
Also Yammie: *Owns two different motorcycles only meant to use on track*
When did I ever say I only go 10 times a year?
Hearing Yammie whine about the red lights in has got to be the funniest thing ever because I understand this problem soo much!
Professional video, keep it up without unnecessary jokes
Been very seriously trying to decide which to get.... Very aptly timed for me
Get the R1, rearsets and clip ons make it quite comfortable. Planning to do the saddle sore 1000 end of the month on my R1M.
The MT apparently stands for "Master of Torque"
Yeah
Monster Torque...
“Massive Torque”
Nice to see the comparison go up same time as chases
Love my MT-10!
i would like the MT10 one day, but hard to find here in CA, and there was an MT09 available which i snagged
My 2018 MT has a slipper clutch and a quick shifter! Only features you can utilize on the street anyways.
Please stop uploading at this time yammie I have homework to do but I want to watch this
I’m just joking I love when u upload buy I’m not lying about the homework
Same
Love it when Yammie and C2W post at the same time
