I crashed my bike once and was laying beside my bike on the side of the road with a shattered foot and not a single car stopped for the 15 mins that I was laying there until my brother got there to get me. In those 15 mins I had 17 different bikes stop to make sure I had help on the way and 3 of them sat there with me until my brother got there. This is why I love biking and it’s community. The group comes before the individual
@@mattb6646 he’s prolly exaggerating that part to emphasize the point that the Motorcycle community is dope. Unless there was just actually alotta bikes out that day. Lol
You're right, the community is what makes biking even better. That reminded me of when I first rode a bike and had an accident. I remember opening my eyes and seeing a helmet asking me if I was ok. I didn't know that guy, I was in a main road and I don't know how many cars passed, but he was the one who stopped. I usually drive by myself because I don't know many bikers in my island. But every time I stop another biker says hi, ask how things are going, and tells random mechanical stuff I don't even understand, I feel a little less alone.
@@DavidCastillaGil haha that's good to hear...I think motorcycle community is a minority in the west so you people are close.... I wish it was the same here in India but here there thousands of bikes on road everyday so there's no community kinda thing
I once stalled on a really busy highway with my first bike and within 5 minutes two random bikers stopped and offered to help. So yeah, it really gives you the feeling you belong to an unspoken/invisible club or something.
@@SHINYxCHROME holy happened to me recently i do have a motor license but i was on my scooter and a dude on a fast bike waved at me and it caught me off guard making me happy but forgot to wave cause of it still feel bad for it till this day :(
Super vid. Years ago, the clutch cable of my GPZ500S snapped while touring in the South of France. I had packed a spare, but it was at the campsite I was staying at, about 5 miles down the road. However, within a few minutes, a middle aged French guy in a car stopped to see if I was okay. He lived nearby and helped get my bike to his house, then took me to the campsite to retrieve the cable. On getting back to his place, he opened up a big garage and my eyes lit up. There were bike racing posters all over the walls, tools arranged on work benches and other mechanic’s paraphernalia, and three motorbikes. Apparently, he had once raced bikes, as did his son at the time, the pinnacle being the Bol D’Or sports endurance race. He helped me fix up my cable, fed me and we had a glass of wine 🍷. All while hardly speaking any French or English, just the camaraderie of the motorcyclist to bond over. Vive la France 🇫🇷 Long live the motorbike!
why didnt you just ride the bike? 5 miles with a broken clutch cable is nothing At a stop put the bike in neutral, start it up, duck walk it up to 2mph and kick it down into 1st to get going, or if the bike will let you just start it in 1st gear up shifting is easy to down shift to stop you can try to rev match the engine while you kick it down or just leave it in gear and hit the kill switch if you must stop
I was once on the motorway (highway) and ran outa fuel in my main tank so pulled off to the side to swap to the reserve. Id been stopped for all of 10 seconds before about 14 vespa riders pulled in behind me to see if i was all good. It was great seeing them all ride off in a cloud of blue 2 stoke smoke :D
I'm a guy, and the only way I can get on a bike is if it's on the back of my mom's or my aunts bike. They're my only relatives that have bikes. (I'm 16, so I can't ride yet).
The ninja 250 was my first bike. He rode on the back during my first few rides around our little neighborhood thinking if I could ride with him on the back, I’d have no problem on my own! First couple of bumps we went over, the suspension bottomed out! He was so tall on that bike he could flat foot from the passenger seat 😆 Meanwhile I had the bike lowered so I could be on my tiptoes. I eventually got used to being on my toes. Today I ride a 2007 Ducati Monster 695, but I haven’t had anyone as a passenger since!
@@IamTx216 A book I read, intended for UK mc cops to be, stresses that always always show good example out there and always always return a friendly gesture or similar. You know that the cop you met was an fuckin idjit.
#7 Rules when it happens. I had my shifter lever break on a ride with a few friends. It had been dropped on that side at one point and probably weakened. A dude in a truck with a covered trailer stopped and offered help. He was hauling a restored CB360. He insisted on loading up my bike and driving me back to my house. All in all he took about an hour and a half out of his evening to help me out. The kicker is that the dude wouldn't even take the $20 I tried giving him for gas. Fucking stand up Samaritan.
I hate it when I see people drag their feet. It sets you up to catch and edge, throw the bike off center, hit a grease patch, throw up rocks etc etc. Just balance the bike, extend the foot and once you're at .5mph, place foot down and come to a stop
I once saw a bike coming at me on a highway and threw down the biker wave not realizing it was a motorcycle cop. He actually waved back and I felt really accomplished
You probably made that cop's day... Too many folks won't wave to a cop for nothing or no amount of money... Cops are people too... They can feel "left out" when there's waving and culture and community... except for them. ;o)

Here in Texas, we have the Texas red light. When the light turns red, you can still go through it up to 2 secs (unless there's a cop nearby and only when they're looking). Light turns green, count 2, look both ways...
Ive taken many of my guy friends on the back of the bike, some of them have even said i am the only person they will get on the back of a bike with. My boyfriend is also an experienced rider so if we take one bike somewhere we always take turns driving. Sometimes we'll give people a show and switch at traffic lights. We get some good laughs when they see the girl on the back hop to the front and take over.
My wife insisted I get on the back in Bogota traffic. It was a nightmare! I wanted to jump off the back while she was still moving! She's five foot nothing. :o Never again. It's a war zone!
That may be the sweetest thing I've ever heard and frankly I'm jealous ,but I never want to have a passenger ,but I'm willing to try anything twice because my ignorance isn't anything besides a lack of experience, I might just love it!
I've often taken guy friends on my bike, no greater proof of trust, for both! My sports bike had a high pillion seat, I weighed 125lbs so it was a test of strength, all that extra weight. I also experienced a girl, who thought I was a boy, jumping on when I stopped at lights. She hugged me and snuggled up, so I turned to her and said, you've got the wrong person. She literally fell backwards off the bike and I hadn't moved at all!

I've been riding my Vespa to get the hang of riding a two wheeler before I get my motorcycle license and I had someone give me a head nod as he was passing by. I gotta say, it made me feel all giddy and happy inside because even though I didn't have a motorcycle let alone a motorcycle license, gestures like that made me more motivated to become a part of the biking community!
It used to bug me, but now I get a chuckle every time I wave at a "badass" while riding my CTX 1300 highway beast, and they deem me unworthy... There really are two kinds of motorcycle riders... everybody on two wheels, and "those guys"...
I'm sorry guys if I don't have back. I think taking the hands off the bars every 5 seconds can be exhausting. just let me ride my bike. I usually do wave though. don't take it wrong
The WAVE is more than just saying hi and acknowledging fellow riders. The reason old schoolriders put two fingers down is to say 'be safe bother and may the your tires stay pointed down'.
So its kind of like seeing them and saying, I see that you are on 2 wheels, I am also on 2 wheels and understand the danger. Stay safe. So... Its almost like.. Acknowledging them.
I gave a guy "the nod" once because I was clutching. He give me the wave while HE was clutching! Just one finger up (not the unfriendly one) and off he went.
It is amazing what we can catch with our eyes with nothing but a quick glace. When I move over and signal it's Ok to pass me by a faster rider. I catch the obvious hand wave, the low down thank you wave, the single finger lift off the controls wave, the quick under the opposing arm wave , the quick head nod and lastly, the leg out. I ride 6 days a week since 1977. commute 300 miles a week , rain or shine, and down to 27 degrees F. I use my late wife's car just to pick up groceries once a week.
As a car guy, me and my friends adapted the hand motions of the riders and we now tap the roof of our cars to let others know there’s a cop. It’s not nearly as noticeable and not everyone knows what it means but enough people know what it means for it to work, so basically thank you to all bike riders for the inspiration!
My grandfather reckoned he was the first to start doing the head tap for warning bikers back in 50's. Don't know if he was serious, kidding or delusional but he told me that a few times! 😅 If he was still alive he would be proud of you... but I still think flashing the lights is 90% more likely to be seen for cars.
But i have to admit - offroad jeep drivers wave too. I own a wrangler jk rubicon and now a RE continental gt 650 and im greeting/waveing a lot more 😀 love that spirit ❤️ greetings from austria 🤗
jac thats true - the habit thing is real 😄 i waved at jeeps on my bike - didnt get a response of course 😂 just confused looks - who the hell is this guy 😂? Congrats on your new bike and welcome back to the waving culture 🤗
I’ve had my fella on the back of my s1000rr. He’s a lot taller than me so it was hellish although I did appreciate the compression on the suspension allowing me to reach the floor easier ☺️. Safe to say we looked like bellends.
Another reason why we wave at each other is also that we never know if the other one will survive his ride. Its not only a 'hello' its sometimes also a 'farewell' Thats what my teacher (who is over 70yo) taught me
Rule number 7. I was introduced to this the day I picked up my bike (1st bike/1st ever ride). I had gotten nervous about coming up to a stoplight on a hill with a bunch of traffic so i turned into a parking lot. The parking lot was slanted and for whatever reason I I stopped mid slant and started to walk it back and turning to face the right way. Got overwhelmed dropped the bike so all the weight was goin down hill. Pretty small guy, 450 pound bike, needless to say I couldn’t pick it up. Called my dealer in a panic hoping they’d have advice, when a gentleman in a truck pulled out of line from the stop light and said hey I saw you having a hard time, can I give you a hand? He was a fellow rider and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the assist, especially having no idea what I’ was doing. That was my welcome to the community and I’ll always stop to check on riders to see if I can help
I mutter the phrase "I hate people" at least 50,000 times a day, but when stuff like this happens I take it all back. 😄I know that panicked feeling as a new rider. I'm happy to report that it does go away! Never stop being vigilant, but enjoy that increasing relaxation with each good ride. I hope you're still riding and staying safe! ✌️
If you had taken the MSF beginners course before your 'first ride' you would have gotten your license at the end of the 3 day course you would have gotten 10% or more off your insurance for the rest of your life and the FIRST thing they teach you is how to NOT DROP YOUR BIKE AT ZERO MPH the $250 fee would have paid for itself compared to the damage you did dropping your brand new motorcycle!
Yes, Yammie. I made my bf (before he was my bf) ride passenger. The deal was if you want me to ride passenger then you've got to ride passenger and to my surprise he accepted, I took notice. It was entertaining riding up and down PCH with him on the back of my FZ-7, hahahaha. Also when I was 16, my dad would pick me up from high school on my DR200 and he'd ride passenger, so I can ride with 170+ lbs passenger on just about any bike, guess it depends on the person and experience. Peace
I think I’m in love! LOL, just kidding I love my wife of 34 yrs! (and she would kill herself, she just doesn’t have the mindset for riding her own bike...trust me!) that sounds like a politically incorrect statement, but if you ever rode in a car that she’s driving? You’d understand.
Absolutely ...coz riding is not a leisure activity here....its the primary mode of transportation ....cars are only taken by above average people...for the middle and upper middle class it is the second option when maybe its raining or the bike is not available..
In Taiwan, the vast majority of the traffic is people on scooters / small motorcycles... Part of the reason for that is probably that it is next to impossible to find a parking spot for a car there, whereas with a scooter, you can always seem to "squeeeze one more" into a group of scooters that are parked right next to each other... Waving at every other rider is not a custom there as far as I was able to tell and I rode around the Taipei area for a month...
I have been riding for almost 20 days on a daily basis, I still don't have the confidence to take off my hand of the handle bar not even for a second. Several other riders have waved to me and I feel bad I can't wave back, at least for now! So if you wave someone and that rider doesn't wave back, sorry he might be me!
Always ride within your ability. But a good quality liter bike is just as stable at 150mph with both hands off as it is at 35mph holding on tight. I routinely remove both hands on the freeway so my tall ass can sit up and stretch my back.
Just bought myself a CBR500 yesterday and love it!. Everytime I would drive my SUV (since I have kids lol) and would see a biker pass by, I would look at them and feel like I am missing out. When they take off, I feel like a piece of me left with them 🤣🤣. Much respect to the biker community and happy to have joined it recently 😊
My ex gf taught me how to ride motorcycles. I would ride behind her until we got to a safe place to practice :) Now I'm popping dank wheelies with my new gf!... A Yamaha
As much as my husband is afraid of motorcycles (because of an irresponsible friend) he has hopped on my bike a couple times, but it was only for a couple miles, and all small surface streets. At the time he had about 20 lbs on me; between that and fear keeping him bolt upright, turns were a struggle, but I think if he'd been more relaxed it would have been fine. I wave at everyone I can, scoots and bicycles included. I know, I'm weird.
I’m an experienced rider and this is the first time I’ve heard that I’m supposed to drag my foot on approaching a stop. I’m kind of partial to retaining the souls of my boots and engine breaking servers quite nicely to supplement the regular breaks. This foot dragging “rule” - which won’t become a rule for me - seems quite absurd.
Been riding HD my whole life and wave at everyone. I just bought a 2020 Yamaha MT 10 and now I get NOOO love from HD riders. Whatever though. Ill never own an HD again after this bike :)
i liken all bikes mostly and prefer Japanese...Yamaha hit it out of the park with the 1700 vtwin in the big cruisers... my friend is a Harley mechanic and those guys tend to hate the 1700 Yamaha.. it beats hog in every aspect..power , speed, mileage, and longevity by a long shot i find now though more Harley guys are waving.....
I've been riding for almost 30 years and I don't completely agree with the left leg always being down. With my experience, I usually try to feather the clutch on the throttle if not coming to a complete stop. If I do come to a complete stop both legs go down unless I'm on an incline at that point I will depress the rear brake with my right foot and then my left leg will come down. Great video by the way it's my first time watching.
Yammie, nice of you to acknowledge the Aussie head nod. As a newbie out there I love the sense of camaraderie a simple nod conveys. I've not come across the head touch for our law enforcement friends but I have received the left hand finger twirl which simulated a spinning police light. I thought that was quite cool and was very excited to share that with my fellow riders at the appropriate time.
The last one really touched me because in my last trip abroad I just came out of a petrol station and after 2 miles or so I saw a rider looking in distress. I didn’t know how to fix his bike but I had some tools on me so I could get him some comfort. In the end, road assist came to his aid. I felt bad because I couldn’t help him out more, but in a situation like that, I would prefer if someone would just stop and say hi. Maybe you need a phone, a knife or some water, so any little thing helps, even a kind word or a Hello.
I just started riding 2 days ago. I picked up a CFMOTO Papio. Started around the neighborhood for the first couple of days and took it to the main roads today. The first motorcycle rider I passed was a much older gentleman, with a large beard, and he was riding a Harley. He gave be the biker wave and I felt awesome.
I am taking my first motorcycle class on saturday( 2 days), im so glad i heard about rule #5 about givingup your right of way. Im an aware driver in my car, but I've seen numerous times where motorcycles have been in close calls because of ROW. Im glad I saw that because you may have saved my life without either of us ever knowing.
I've started hesitating even in my car because of this. I've had a close call and some guy that could have easily killed me in my four wheeled tin can texting and blew through a light didn't even look up till someone honked.
I was on the 50cc scooter last week going around a bend on a highway and was pleasantly surprised to have a Harley dude wave at me. It's great to see comradery in the motorcycle community, be it to a scooter, dirt bike, super sport or otherwise on two wheels. Only 6 months till I can get the motorcycle license, and I also want to be the dude that even waves at scooters.
@@danielson5045 I've also heard this one. I'm not sure the exact specifics of it but basically if a rider has put their helmet on the ground next to the bike instead of on it then there's something wrong
It's basically a declaration to other motorcyclists that you're stopped due to trouble and need assistance. I still ask the stopped rider if they need help even if I don't see a helmet but if you see one on the road then don't bother asking - just pull in to help.
I don't do the foot drag and have only had a bike license since 1980. I do the foot swap on inclines/declines. When stopped at lights, etc. both feet are on the ground to stabilize the bike, front brake on. I watch the traffic lights and try to anticipate the change, lean a bit to the right and balance on R foot, shift into gear with L foot, put L foot down and lean L to balance bike and move R foot onto peg and brake and then release the front brake. Rear brake holds bike and when traffic light changes, away you go. No need to wear out boots. Other than that, I don't drag feet, I walk them when the bike speed is very slow.
As a road bike cyclist, I can attest that 8/10 riders do NOT wave back. I have to say that I am quite pleased with you Yammie that you affirm my beliefs that those who share a sort of 'niche' interest like motorbiking or road race cycling, should indeed have an affinity towards each other, being a sort of rarity, and understanding what others don't etc. So, soon I will be joining the motorcycling community, and appreciate that such camaraderie is customary. From Ireland, slán 😊
I am thinking of going for a mixed bag of having motorcycle's license and standard car licenses (car to help legally in case I need to take the wheel of a car as a passenger) from Texas , US
chill it's okay. i am hitting a corner hard in fresh greasy rain Idc if I can't wave to someone that I will never see again. but if I am riding in dumb shorts to pick up some eggs I try and wave every time. its a tough a place we understand.
Same here! I'm just now getting comfortable enough to take my hand off to wave, but for the past few months (I don't get to ride much), I did the same exact thing.
It's like those order of operations thing in math specifically algebra. I almost dropped my Favorite bike. I was just doing an easy U turn I ran outta space unexpectedly and had my foot off the brake...i jammed the front brake lever and my little 600 CBR started bucking like crazy nearly dropping the bike and scarring and breaking stuff on a nice bike in a slow speed dumb mistaken.
I have very strict waving rules. I wave at everything and everyone. Motorcycle? Wave. Cool car? Wave. Kid on a power wheels? Wave. Bird? Wave. I have 4 bikes, 2 are Harleys.
If it has two or three wheels, they get a wave. ATV or UTV? Probably also getting a wave. Bicycles? Yeah even they get a wave but more of a regular "hi there" wave not a "oh you're cool too" motorcyclist-to-motorcyclist wave ;)
Was told that you folks ride on the left side which would make it impossible to see a left-hand wave, and that therefore you only nod at each other... Do you mean wave as in "the Queen's wave"? --just being facetious here; we all need all the waves we can get !
Yo Yammie .... just a quick update for you. Here in the UK where we are on the opposite side and can't use our hands to wave, the nod is usually done to the side rather than forward. A nod forward is a little dangerous as you take your eyes off the road and could be caused by road conditions too, so the nod to the side is more intentional as a greeting to your fellow biker ;)
Flashing high beams until you pass the car could mean, in order 1- that car’s lights are off, 2- that car’s high beams are on, 3- police in the area and 4- animals in the area. You just go down the list to figure out which it is... 🤣
Sometimes what looks like a flash could just be the angle of their lights coming over a hill too. They hit you right and you're like "wait...was that a flash?" so you slow down, check your lights and proceed with caution for no reason lol.
I"m a Harley rider. We all share the same road, I hand sign and acknowledge all two-wheel riders; even mopeds. Some people are just a$$holes. Great video and safe travels to everyone! "Keep two wheels on the ground!" while throwing you a piece sign sideways!
I’m BRAND new to riding, literally have never been on a bike. I got my M1 three days ago, course mid July. I bought a cb300r and it’s coming Monday. I’ve waited 20 years for this day to come. Since my mid teens I’ve wanted a bike. I’m both scared and excited. I was recently trained on a forklift at work, and I’m imagining how it would be similar to that. Took a few months to really get smooth with things and comfortable. A few butt clenching moments mixed in. Although my left foot doesn’t do anything in a forklift, both hands and right foot have to work seamlessly together for smooth maneuvering. Shoulder checks, 100% awareness at all times, etc.. Thank you for this video, and all your other videos. They are very helpful, and always give me a laugh. Much love from Ontario, Canada.
I remember how cool it was to do my first wave some 29 years ago. Confident on the road after practicing skills in the parking lot and neighborhood... and then... my first fellow rider. Family.
A rider was tapping the top of his helmet at me from across the intersection last week, and I had no idea why at first ... I wondered if there was something hanging off my helmet perhaps, but quickly decided it was some kind of 'po-po warning', so just thanked him and forgot about it (I don't tend to do dank wheelies while just commuting, anyway ... lol) ... then, of course, my anxious dimension started wondering if he was telling me something else important, like maybe I was about to ride off an invisible cliff, into a black hole, or otherwise die (ironically), all because I didn't want to look stupid ... :)
You just reminded me that I've actually ridden two-up behind an ex-girlfriend in a 110cc Honda Scoopy. 😂 It was pretty scary because she was 4'11 and tip-toeing, we were under Manila traffic, and we both didn't have a license at the time.
We do. But car drivers nowadays are not as swift ,nor smart as they used to be prior to the year 2000. Flashing one's headlights seems to be an archaic practice. Probably because people in America are dumbed-down and insulated, and drinking the instant kool-aid of their Wayz app of complacency and unawareness. Us die-hard mileage drivers and riders still do. As well as flashing when at a 4-way stop with another vehicle who arrives at the same time.
I just bought a Honda Shadow Phantom 750 a week ago (1sr Bike ever) and on my way home I got the wave from many other Bikers on the road and I returned the wave! What an awesome feeling of brotherhood!.. Thumbs-up for your video! Have a great day! Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 👍🏾🌵🦠😷🇵🇷
@@mtlnascarfan have you ever ridden a super sport? Because in a 45 zone barley twist the throttle in 6th gear and in a blink of a eye your doing 65 to 70 In the matter of 3 seconds or so without trying to speed or realizing you're speeding. And that is a reckless operation ticket if you pass a cop
The wave isn't a peace sign, the 2 fingers pointing downward means "2 wheels down, or keep the rubber side down". I'm a Harley rider and wave the sign to everyone. If you don't wave back, I guess it means you just aren't as cool as me! One more tip, get on and off the bike on the high side. Motor officers started this because getting off the bike on the low side puts them in front of the traffic. Plus, it makes you look a lot cooler when you learn to do it correctly.

I am going to test the limits of my balance on this bike. Your video here has GREAT tips I wish I had had for my 8 day ride on my H2. Here we go!
They don't wave at other Harley riders either. They've already met at the repair shop on that day. Seriously tho, even here in the Eurosquid land, 99% percent of those who don't wave back are riding a Harley.
Other companies usually sell those same bikes for a few K less, but a 30k bike at another manufacturer for 10k is probably haunted. I typically get a wave back from everybody except supersquids and Harley boys on the biggest baggers.
@M Bacon this is why I think every rider should learn how to properly balance their wheels. I bet Harley produces so many that a few get out without properly balanced wheels.
Once broke down on a bike trip . A guy and his family stopped. He had bikes too. They stayed with me trying to fix my bike for an hour with tools he had. Could not get it going and proceeded to arrange a friend with a trailer to pick me and my bike up. They were actually starting their holidays (vacation for USA). In those 15 mins I had 17 different bikes stop to make sure I had help on the way and 3 of them sat there with me until my brother got there. This is why I love biking and it’s community.

5 miles with a broken clutch cable is nothing
At a stop put the bike in neutral, start it up, duck walk it up to 2mph and kick it down into 1st to get going, or if the bike will let you just start it in 1st gear
up shifting is easy
to down shift to stop you can try to rev match the engine while you kick it down
or just leave it in gear and hit the kill switch if you must stop
We all ride in the same wind. That’s why even as a Harley guy I still wave.

john duncan always refer to other bikers as ‘brother’...
It’s still a thing. Saw it all the time heading toward and then away from Sturgis this year.

It is amazing what we can catch with our eyes with nothing but a quick glace. When I move over and signal it's Ok to pass me by a faster rider.

My joy when riding can't be stopped!
Car enthusiasts do have a "cops ahead" signal, thank you, at least in Australia. We flash our high beams a couple times

Wait.... we are supposed to stop at red lights??? I thought that meant rev limiter.... lmao
I am thinking of going for a mixed bag of having motorcycle's license and standard car licenses (car to help legally in case I need to take the wheel of a car as a passenger) from Texas , US
I'm a Sportbike rider so I'm always in neutral long before I stop so I can get a little rest at every stop. This is so relaxing.
Neural is hard to find when moving on my bike so I do it once I'm completely stopped
oof
Thumbs up for this next giveaway bike: Husqvarna 701 SM
That would be awesome
As an Australian I can confirm that we nod instead of wave, no better feeling than that pleasant exchange between cultured individuals
Rule #8 drag race from every stop to 20 buck everytime.
Mārtiņš Liepiņš what’s 20 buck?
Chris Koj 20,000 RPM would be my guess.
120mph/kph?
Chris Koj 20 over the speed limit
Lol that's my whole ride!
I just started riding, so I've been too nervous to take my hand off the handle at higher speeds. So I just stick up a couple fingers and nod lolol
Whatever works, man!!
chill it's okay. i am hitting a corner hard in fresh greasy rain Idc if I can't wave to someone that I will never see again. but if I am riding in dumb shorts to pick up some eggs I try and wave every time. its a tough a place we understand.
Don't wave at birds. Birds aren't real.
I've never had a bird wave back.. 😢
Even gang members wave to other motorcycles over in NZ
Yeah seen that
Geez, us New Zealanders are a very friendly bunch of people
Was told that you folks ride on the left side which would make it impossible to see a left-hand wave, and that therefore you only nod at each other... Do you mean wave as in "the Queen's wave"? --just being facetious here; we all need all the waves we can get !
@@gabrielrabu543 mostly nod , hilt tilt with some left hand waving
I’m just getting into the world of riding and it’s nice to know what a great community it is.
I always get so angry, when I want to wave but we‘re at high speed and i‘m just shifting. The nod often doesn‘t get acknowledged
I’m a Harley rider and I always wave to all bikes lol. Idc if it’s a sports bike or another cruiser. Love all my rider brotherin. Great video though
I remember how cool it was to do my first wave some 29 years ago. Confident on the road after practicing skills in the parking lot and neighborhood... and then... my first fellow rider. Family.
When I was in Vietnam, I rode two up behind a 4'11" Viet girl on a scooter. She had skills 🤷♂️
cops?
@@merttar4935 Yes, cops. That's what the pay on the head is letting you know.
Kieren Moore
Looking stupid is sometimes worse than being stoopid...
@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ - yeah, not really :)
Kieren Moore I admit, I didn't know this one either, before now.
Yay for learning something new!
I'm 15 and ride my Coleman CT200U-EX Mini Bike on the road, and have gotten/done several waves. Very welcoming community!
You just reminded me that I've actually ridden two-up behind an ex-girlfriend in a 110cc Honda Scoopy. 😂 It was pretty scary because she was 4'11 and tip-toeing, we were under Manila traffic, and we both didn't have a license at the time.
I ride a 125cc motor scooter but I watch motorcycle videos
You habe two wheels, i have two wheels, im a rider, youre a rider
Get out
Like a midget on his tippy toes 😂
That's cute
Austin Starke that is NOT a scooter 😊 i called my mt 125 THE bike. without her, i would never be able to get ready for the “real” stuff.
"cars don't have a unified way of telling others of cops in the area"
Y... You guys don't flash lights in the states??
We definitely do, I've seen it in several different states as well
We do, almost always. It's not rare or surprising.
Where I live it’s not advisable as gangs use it as a way to target and attack people
It's kinda sad, for me, 3 blinks of my high beams is a warning for cops up ahead. Some people may not understand the hand to the helmet.
Love that you say "european" when you mean british, all other european countries ride on the correct side like you, love your vids.
We Irish drive on the left lol
Seán N same thing (British and Irish) 👀 ohhhh boy I may have started a war
Unlike*
Jacob Petersen and Cyprus 😅
@@HogRidaaa Let's fight that war together against the whole of Ireland
There's the jeep wave also. I tend to wave at motorcycles when driving my jeep and wave at jeeps while riding the bike.
When I was learning to ride, my husband got on back of the sportster to help me learn. He only did it once since we almost died.
In the UK, flashing headlights definitely signals police/speed cameras
People still flash their headlights here in NZ for cops all the time! Still works a treat
I’ve ridden two up with a boyfriend behind me. He was such a good sport about it, even when the group was ragging on him the whole day :)
Flashing high beams have saved me multiple reckless driving tickets
Here's a thought...
Have you ever thought about NOT riding wrecklessly?
VelociPat where’s the fun in that?
@@mtlnascarfan He didn't say he was driving recklessly but that he could have gotten a reckless driving ticket. There's a difference.
Same.
Also: VelociPat, SUPERMOTOJAK says it perfectly.
Feeling left out when you said euro and Australia, us Kiwis *in New Zealand* got the bro nod down!
As a girl, and soon to be rider, yes, my boyfriends going to be on the back once im experienced enough😂
Get familiar before you do. Im hugr like 6'7" and even my.tiny ex who was like 5'2" would almost make us spill if she leaned all weird while riding two up.
Im sure its even crazier if the bigger passenger is in the back not the driver. Good luck
unsolicited advice, you should ride solo a year or so before you put anyone on the back, large or small.
You’ll hate doubling. It takes so much away from the ride.
lmao with you were my gf... that's so cool!
yesssssss!
GREAT TIPS!! I tore off both knee caps on a 72? H2 when I was 17. I have not ridden since then. I am 67 now. I have Parkinson's. During this long winter, I watched TH-cam videos and FaceBook Market. I bought a mint condition 2004 GS500F that had a problem with carbs. All vacuum hoses were disconnected. Anyway, I have the bike running now. Parkinson's effects balance. I am going to test the limits of my balance on this bike. Your video here has GREAT tips I wish I had had for my 8 day ride on my H2. Here we go!
Yammie I have been a loyal fan, but you hit me below the belt on the left handedness
bro come on you know we going to hell 🤣
Same. Feels bad.
Hey, yammy boob doesn't make the rules. He just enforces them.
All of these replies are gold
@@zacharyfillmore8448, remember one thing. We're all born right-handed, and only the truly gifted overcome it.

Car guys flash headlights 2 times to warn about cops

Nah it's 3 times fairly quickly and a pause the again .
Foot drag is the first sign you don't know how to properly control your bike.
Square up Yammie, I'ma stand up for all the lefty riders

Jarrett Constantino I’ve got your back!

Lefties are better riders anyway, I'm in.
Harley riders don’t wave at other motorcycles because they spent $30k on a bike that any other company would sell for ~$10k
That and having the anxiety of knowing at some point that head gasket is going to leak and dribble oil all over that beautiful chromed out vtwin. 😂
Harley’s don’t wave because they’re worried of death wobble
@M Bacon this is why I think every rider should learn how to properly balance their wheels. I bet Harley produces so many that a few get out without properly balanced wheels.
5:52 - yup. So nostalgic. My father always did it and we had other drivers warn us as well.
"Lefties- You know exactly where you're going, that is Hell." Lmdao!! New sub!
I'll balance down to walking speed. No way i' dragging TCX race pro boots @ $629 a pair
Got me and my bike home and would not take anything for the help. That’s what bikers will do for each other. Didn’t know him and never saw him again. One of the many reasons I love biking.
I’m a girl and I fully intend to have my guy in the back bc he’s a... 🙄 car guy.
Either convert him to be a rider also or... trade him in for a better model.
@@jasonswiatkowski9127 LMAOOOO frr my ex told me he was gonna break up with me if I went to get my license cause he didn’t want to worry about me doing something so dangerous so I was like mkay babes my bike is gonna be hotter anyways 💀
