We show every trail we ride, regardless. Like you said, not all are winners. The fact that it has so many on-road segments makes it a trail we would not usually choose to ride ever, but it was a Rails to Trails Hall of Fame winner just a couple of years ago - so we had to see what it was all about. Thanks for your support of our channel.
Thanks for watching. You never know what a trail is like if you don’t ride it. And we agreed when we started our channel that we were going to show all the trails we ride, not just the ones that we think are great. We love the fact that we are out on our bikes, and trying riding new trails gets us to parts of the country we might not have given any thought to. One thing we hope to accomplish is to give viewers a realistic picture of what the trail is like so they can make their own decision on whether or not they want to ride it. We appreciate your support.
Greetings from Maine! I live in this area and can say that the section of trail in the Scarborough Marsh looked like it had been severly damaged from all the storms earlier this year. I haven't been on that section since last summer, but all that loose gravel, the orange cones, the broken edges were all new. The marsh is subject to tides, and you were there when the water was high, but no longer flooded. There are a lot of roads that still haven"t been repaired from the floods/washouts from the storms, soI'm surprised they've been able to do as much as they have on the trail already. As for the crowding, yes there's almost always a lot of folks on any section of the Eastern Trail. It's a great, easy trail that's well protected, so if you're in the secluded sections, great for exercise whether walking, running, or biking, whether you are young, old, sick, injured, etc. I personally love the sections between Kennebunk and the hospital in Biddeford. Kennebunk is a bit looser sand though than Arundel and Biddeford, so I'm not sure if you would like it. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy these rides as much as you'd hoped. Good luck with your next ones, Cheers. :)
If you ever get the urge to check out the Down East Sunrise trail on your bikes, don't bother. It is a multi user trail (read lots of motorized 4 wheelers), deep sand, railroad ballast and acceleration bumps from the motor vehicles. We rode about 5 miles of it a few years ago and had to bail out and ride the road. And the road out to Machias doesn't really have much if any shoulder. Felt good to put that one behind us.
Hi. We rode the Route Verte a couple of years ago and posted it on our channel. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/9_jDoosBGl8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FpL9nlpw4rRHT9DI
Thanks for the info on the Down East Sunrise trail. We thought we might try to ride some of it when we were in Acadia, but didn’t get the opportunity. Based on your comments, I’m no longer kicking myself for not figuring out how to get it done. Thanks for watching.
I spent many summers in Kennebunkport and are somewhat familiar with the area. I REALLY want to like this trail, particularly after all the hype it gets. However, it’s FAR too fragmented with on-road riding. I can handle “through neighborhoods” but route 1, no thanks. I’m going to check further, but I THINK one can ride northward on trails from the Bug Light area to the Portland waterfront and then onto the Eastern Promenade and around the Back Bay. Thank you for your honest reviews.
I really wanted to love this trail, but too many road crossings - and some where 4 lane highways - for my taste. I think you may be on to something regarding hitting the Eastern Promenade. We wish we had another day to ride around downtown because when we passed through in the car it looked like they had a cool waterfront area. Thanks for taking a minute to share your thoughts and for your support of our channel.
Hello from the Wauponsee Trail in Illinois! That's our favorite local path. We love your videos, and we were interested in the hat brim that you used for your helmet. Can you share where you found it?
Hi. Thanks for your support of our channel. We’ll have to check out the Wauponsee Trail when we are in the neighborhood. The brim is dabrim and you can find it at dabrim.com.
i live in maine right near where you are riding......we moved up here in 2007 from massachusetts to avoid the rudeness and i think it followed us up here.......its like where we used to live now here and to be honest where are you going to go these days, the whole world has a different vibe......i still like watching your vids but i got stress watching this one and everytime your wife explained something how it was i already knew and she hit it right on the head
I think we need to make it a rule to not ride the city trails on a weekend. That might make things easier. Thanks for your comments and for your support of our channel.
We stayed at the Sun Outdoors Saco-Old Orchard. You can see a little bit of the campground at the end of the video. Thanks for your support of our channel.
We went in mid-June so it would be a little cooler. While we were in Portland it was a great temperature. When we got to Acadia a couple of days later they had record high heat!! Crazy weather. Thanks for your continued support.
That is why I dislike rail trails...good weather everyone is on them, they take zero effort, skill or anything else to be on them. Plus lots of noise and you feel like you never left home . To me those (clears throat) trails, are like having to take your sister to the dance....
We recently rode a trail in St. George Utah that had a crazy grade and even though paved was very challenging even with a class 1 e-bike! It was the Rt 18 trail. We did the 18 mile loop through Snow Canyon. The urban trails are always packed, and we usually end up there on the weekend somehow. We’ve ridden a number of really great trail trails. Maybe I need to make a video of the most challenging rail trails? Thanks for watching.
I like that you don't sugar coat it and just state the facts, not every trail is great.

A shame the trails were not very enjoyable. But it's great that you chalk up the experience.... and look forward to the next adventure!

Love the fact that you guys fill your tanks with excellent fuel to continue your journey.
The blackened haddock tacos were really good!! There were a lot of good food choices in the area that we ate.

I like that trail....did it a lot of times.
Now , I like to do the Sebago to the Sea trail ( from Standish to Portland, since i now live in Naples,ME)
Thanks for watching. We’ll have to check out the Sebago to the Sea Trail.

PS You're close to Quebec. Try out the Route Verte. I think you'll like it.

Great video I’m glad to see you guys are still out and about
Hi. Thanks for your continued support. We’re excited we’re still out and about too!!!
I hope you were kidding when you said that it’s a Hall Of Fame Trail.
It is a Hall of Fame Trail. It was inducted in 2022. Thanks for watching.
What campground did you stay at? Thank you.
We stayed at the Sun Outdoors Saco-Old Orchard. You can see a little bit of the campground at the end of the video. Thanks for your support of our channel.
Overcrowding plus the fact that those folk are hibernating half the year, when it warms up, they're all out of their caves.
