As a long distance cyclist for over 50 years, I was deeply touched by this video. Well done - it communicates what bike touring is all about: “The sights, the sounds and the way you feel, when the world expands from a spinning wheel” (from a poem I wrote after one ride in 1974) I highly recommended reading “The Handsomest Man In Cuba”, a very entertaining account of Lynette Chiang’s solo bike ride around Cuba.
My favourite part of this was when you showed you have friends in half the cities on the eastern seaboard, and then still described yourself as an introvert. Also, great work, this is legitimately really impressive

Simply awesome! Thanks for sharing this remarkable experience. Glad you kept it straightforward, personal, and non technical. Never even said anything about your gear-such as what kind of bike you ride. Very enjoyable to watch. And what an adventurous, brave, and intelligent person you are to have embarked upon such an extraordinary cycling adventure essentially all by yourself. Such an inspiring story.
Congrats to your achievement. I have done a 4,000 mile bike trip from Germany to Portugal and back, a 6,000 mile trip from Germany to Turkey and back and a 10,000 mile trip from L.A. to Alaska and back. All in 1988 thru 1992. I now live in the DC area and I have to say that I'm done with riding on roads. I would love to do the east coast greenway or a trip across the country from west to east. This is too dangerous IMHO. Now its gravel trails and MTB for me.

@@reginayan Great video and great adventure. Only small problem i noticed is that music is sometimes way louder than voice (around 8 min) makes hard to hear what you are saying. But overall great video keep it up :)
A hundred and forty miles on the first day with no training? Acadia Maine is ten miles from the Canadian border. I have ridden about 45 miles in one day without training and I can tell you toward the end of the trip I didn't want to sit on that bike seat any longer, let alone get up the next day and do twice the mileage. Bar Harbor is an island. Twenty miles in two hours is hardly rolling, you have to be doing 10 miles an hour, with no brakes, in traffic. I can't watch anymore, it is a great story. I love how you are biking in northern Maine in late September without a jacket. Pawtucket RI in the rain, no rain jacket, late September, wow, that had to be extremely cold. Can you say hypothermia? Great story.
Yes and when it rains & one is riding even in the summer months it gets cold, how she was able to endure it without a raincoat is amazing, 140 miles with little training amazing too, She can easily compete in Ironman .
Interesting that she said 3000 miles the route she took is around 2300-2400 miles the reason they say 3000 is because they include other routes like the Buffalo NY, still to do 2400 miles nonstop in 30 days for someone that has not trained or has not done long bike rides prior is amazing but a bit questionable but either way many seem to have loved her story & that's what it is all about www.google.com/search?q=calais+maine+to+key+west+florida&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS881US881&oq=Calais%2C+Maine+to+Ke&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgBECEYoAEyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIGCAUQIRgV0gEJMTIxNzhqMGo5qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chro
Myrtle Beach is the armpit of America. I was just in New Orleans on bourbon street and it was somehow 10x classier than Myrtle. Bravo on the trip! Sounds wonderful.
Thanks for pronouncing Bangor correctly! People rarely do. Glad you did this. I ride the Portand to Saco sections frequently. Want to peddle this completely some day before the end.
Congratulations on the century, that's awesome!! And thank you for watching -- I didn't really go into this, but I bike commuted to work which was ~20 miles a day, so I did have a solid base leading up to the trip even without any specific prep. Also, slow & steady is the way to go on these haha so what I lacked in speed & power I made up in hours-per-day haha
That is why God even tells his people..."Be ready" Being well prepared is much better than doing something by the seat of your pants. Plan, plan, plan. I've been watching videos about Bike Touring since 2016; I have the basic foundation down, what is needed, what to possibly expect, but I still need to go out there and do it and experience it for myself. Happy bike touring :). Lots of people who don't do what you do, will work against you; they personally think that their type of 'freedom' is much better than the rest, and they deserve the most in rights, privilege and wealth. Ignore those people!
I live in florida and my cousin and i had this idea to bike all the way to new york and i found this video We’re planning to set off on august and i cant wait thanks to this video i think we can better prepare our trip
I have done many long cycle tours (some on CGOAB) and I usually really enjoyed myself but my monthly target distances was just a measly target of 2000km or 1250 miles. My longest tour was 8000 km or 5000 miles. I have done 100+mile days a quite few times but never back to back, plus I was a hell of a lot younger. I have known a few people to do multiple big days, like my friend Anna who did ~250 km/day going across the Nullabor, but then it was the Nullabor. The people make every tour special. You really get to know who you are as there is no one telling you who you are. It looks like a very cool tour.
2000km is not measly at all, and you probably enjoyed the scenery more than I did at that pace! Thanks for bringing up CGOAB - I'll use that resource for future trip planning :D
I’m glad the TH-cam algorithm worked and suggested this amazing video. Clearly one of the best videos I’ve watched about just getting out and having an adventure. Great video! I'm really glad I found it. I do a fair amount of bike touring and I'm trying to figure out "what's next" (I did the Pacific Coast in fall 2022, and Lands End, England to John O'Groats, Scotland May of '22; I've also done Oregon to Boston and New Orleans to Canada in the past).
