Adventures on ebikes
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 ก.ค. 2020
We explore wonderful bike trails across the US, and occasionally even some trails outside of the US. We will get back to nature, explore historical sights, share information about food, drinks and other amenities on each trail. We will also demonstrate that it's easier than ever to get out and ride no matter what your age or ability level.
If you're like us, you have to spend a lot of time researching to find out what a trail is like. Well, not anymore! We'll ride any trail -- the good, the bad, and the ugly -- so you can decide if it's for you.

Thanks for the video, it has been a while and it definitely will get on the list when we are close to that area. Appreciate all the content you share and have a Very Merry Christmas!
Thanks for watching and we hope you have a very Merry Christmas as well!
Great ride and video, as usual. Wishing you guys a happy holiday season, healthy new year and looking forward to more wonderful videos in 2025
We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a healthy new year as well! We have a lot of new rides from our trip across the Southern US that we will start to publish as we get closer to bike season. Thanks for your continued support.
My husband and I walked this trail this past summer. It was really hot and we decided to skip that steep part as well. Your videos are great.
Thanks for watching. We appreciate your support of our channel.
That looks very popular. If I'm ever in West Virginia, I definitely would try that .Thanks
We’ve found it gets busy on weekends but it’s worth the ride. Enjoy the tunnel!
Your videos always inspire me!
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching.
Thank you both for posting another fun trail! Always very enjoyable!
We appreciate your watching! Thanks for your continued support.
Let me know when you & Nancy (and the dogs, and cats, and whatever the fuck else, is in the basement) have done so. Looking forward to the travelogue. Bill O'
Wow thanks for another great adventure on bikes. I follow you guys in New England and I ahve been looking to retire in Hilton Head area and do to trying to find a house hadnt explored the area for one of my favorite activites biking. Well done as always and very helpful. I should know this but what brand of ebike do you ride?l
Thanks for your continued support of our channel. We ride Gazelle Ultimate C8's. We are very happy with these bikes as they can go up to 90 miles on a single charge in ECO (we’ve never gone more than 65 miles, but never had a worry about the battery), they sit straighter and the handlebars are adjustable. Also, the bike has a Nexus 8 system -- eight gears are built into the rear hub of the wheel. They are protected against the wind and weather, and this reduces wear and maintenance. Combine this with a belt instead of a chain and your bike maintenance is kept to a minimum. You can also shift from a complete stop, which is really handy if you’re crossing a road and forgot to downshift before-hand. It has hydraulic disc brakes, front and rear fenders, a fully functional back rack and front shocks. Lastly, Gazelle is a brand that you can find in bike shops all over the country - making it easier to find service should you need it.
I rode a section of the Mickelson Trail from the Mountain to Custer and back. No tunnel on this section, but we loved the scenery. I recorded it and will make a video someday soon. I think this would be a great trail to bikepack on with so many places to see and explore along the trail. My wife and I have an Class C RV and we stayed at a campground right on the trail south of Crazy Horse Memorial. Similar to what you did in Hill City. I really enjoy watching your fun and informative videos!
Thanks for your continued support. We are going to try and ride the entire Mickelson in 2025 -- it was such a great trail we want to go back.
Nice music! ...sounds sort of like Pat Metheny, but it's not Pat Metheny. I used to live about 1500 feet from this trail in Coventry.....lovely trail, and as you can see, the little stream is gorgeous!
It’s always a great day when you can be on a quiet trail in the woods with a lovely stream. Thanks for watching.
You mentioned the heat, try riding it in December. I rode it on the morning of December 31, 2016. It was a chilly morning. My daughter was playing in a basketball tournament at DePauw University and I was willing to go for a ride regardless of the temperature. I rode from Indianapolis north to just past Carmel. Another great video!
Nothing wrong with getting out on the trail in December! A few years ago we biked every month in Upstate New York. Always great to get out and stretch your legs. Thanks for your support of our channel.
Wow you have covered a lot of ground. I have ridden many of these myself. I’ll be watching a lot of your videos.
Yes we have. But there is a lot more ground to cover - although hitting a new trail means we have to drive farther away now. Can’t wait for winter to end so we can get back out. Thanks for your support.
Other than the boardwalk bridges, is the trail mostly paved or hard pack limestone chips?
The trail is paved. Thanks for watching.
Can a recumbent trike make it through the cattle gates?😎🐸
I don't see why not. They are just gates that fully open. Thanks for watching.
Nice video! I like the style of video that shares the adventure and give some background and history. I strive to do the same on my channel with a mix of rail trails, bikepacking, hiking and backpacking.
We appreciate the compliment and we are always looking for new content on other channels. We went and checked yours out. Enjoyed the video of C&O/GAP Day 2. I can't believe they can't come up with a better way to get to Harpers Ferry than climbing those stairs! Yours is the first one I've seen where anyone actually showed climbing the stairs. Thanks for watching.
@@Adventuresonebikes I’m glad you enjoyed the Harpers Ferry video. i’m only about halfway done with producing the videos from that trip. I’m sure you know it takes quite a bit of time to produce a video. I will certainly be checking out more of your videos .Thanks for the comment!
Are there section that require you to ride your bike on roads? My wife and I try to never ride on streets.
There are several sections where you ride your bike on roads. But the trail is 365 miles to ride, unless you want to bike pack the whole thing, there are a lot of great day out-and-back rides. To find the trail vs. on road sections you may want to check out this interactive map: www.ptny.org/bike-canal/map/
Chipmunks can carry bubonic plague Google it.
Speaking of bike traffic, my experience has been that road bikes are the worst, no warnings at all. Has this been your experience as well?
I'd have to agree. We've been passed on almost every trail by road bikers going pretty fast who don't give any warning. We usually know they are coming because we do have mirrors, but sometimes they sneak up on us. My favorite is when they pass us while we are slowing down for oncoming pedestrians -- so they go between the walkers and us!! And ebikers are the ones that have the bad rep. 😫 Thanks for watching.
I’m about an hour away from this trail, so it is on my bucket list of things to see.
Have a great ride and thanks for watching.
Does anyone enforce the use of class 2 e-bikes on the carriage trails?
We didn't observe anyone on the trails in an enforcement mode. Our view is that if you ride respectfully (not too fast, watch for pedestrians, etc.) it's unlikely anyone will hassle you. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for showing me another Indiana trail. I am hoping to get to this one next year. Stay safe, and have a great Thanksgiving Holiday!
We're crossing our fingers you get out on this trail next year!! We appreciate your continued support and hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well.
FYI; there is another segment to the Nickel Plate Trail in Hamilton County. It starts in Noblesville (Forest Park) and heads south through Fishers and ends (for the time being) at 96th Street (Hamilton County/ Marion County line). Just so you know.
Thanks for the additional info. We appreciate your support of our channel!
Curious how you do your car. Do you take two, one for the start point and one for the end? Are there shuttle services available? How is this done?
We wish we could come up with a better way, but we have one car, park, ride down the trail and back to the car. There are some shuttle services available on occasion for a trail -- we used a shuttle when we rode the Michelson Trail in SD, and the Elroy Sparta Trail in MI. We didn't use it but there are shuttle services for the Pine Creek Trail in PA. If I find shuttle services in my research I will list that in the description below the video. We've talked about putting our RV at one end and the car at the other, but then we'd need two bike racks, and that's pretty expensive so we haven't thought further on it. Thanks for watching.
We have ridden a portion of this trail in Fishers, IN. When did you ride this trail?
This ride was in August of this year. Thanks for watching.
The trees are Catawba. . . and don't make me wait that long for the "We''re outa here!!" Whew, thought you forgot it, hehe.
Hi Don! So great to hear from you. Sorry you had to watch until the last second for “we’re outta here”. Just want to make sure you are watching the whole thing. 🤭. Happy thanksgiving 🦃🍁
Several years ago my grandson and I road this trail. We started in Bunker Hill going north into Rochester. We spent the night in an ok motel. The next day we returned. The adventure was amazingly fun for us. Getting thru Peru was relatively easy and we traversed under the 4 lane Hwy 24 without any difficulty
Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like it was a good time. We appreciate your support of our channel.
Thank you two for sharing!
We appreciate your continued support.
Kudos for your bravery!! I was scared for you. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for worrying about me! 😨 I want to ride through it again sometime. We appreciate your support of our channel.
Thanks for watching!
We would love to go to places like this and e-bike. We travel with our van and carry our bikes around the United States. Road cows are always fun 🙂
Hope you get a chance to take a ride like this someday. I'm not sure I'd drive my van through Mexico though 😨
@Adventuresonebikes that has been a concern. Many of the videos I've watched indicate the roads can be treacherous
Thank GOODNESS there aren’t places to stop to eat and drink. We don’t want the southeast to resemble the concrete jungles. The masses of people moving to the south and demanding “walkable” everything is contrary to what makes the south beautiful. Very nice video. But please do appreciate rural areas for what they are instead of wishing to change them for convenience.
Thanks for your support of our channel. We live in beautiful upstate New York. Not a lot of concrete where we are - and we love it that way! It is nice to find a meal or a beer along a trail, but we too like to be out in the woods away from the cities.
Rode this path and went thru the tunnels both in the day and night. Tunnels are delightfully creepy! Especially at night. I recommend this to any biker. Enjoy!
Thanks for your comment and support of our channel.
Hope yall are doing ok and just needed a break, but looking forward to more trails. If you do make it down south this winter. Here are 3 trail suggestions for a nice trip. Swamp Rabbit in Greenville, SC. The bridge just got completed on the Cricket Frog which makes it 14.25 now (dont forget to reward yourself with an ice cream) at the eastern end of the trail. Then you cant miss the Silver Comet & Chief Ladiga trails to round out a trip. Happy riding!
Hi, Thanks for checking in. We usually have a big drop in viewership during the late fall/winter months, so we've stopped posting for a while. We've just returned from another cross-country trip -- so I have lots of new content for the spring. We appreciate the suggestions on the trails. Those are on our list -- just need to figure out when we can get down there. Thanks for your support.
Because of this video, I took my wife on this ride for our anniversary! We went all the way to Cumberland, which was 34 miles, but it was a great experience (til the last 5 miles, our butt's hurt!)
@@Xaxameti Sounds like you had a great ride. Glad we could serve as inspiration for your trip. We have another video of the entire GAP trail ride that we took a couple of years ago. We took 3 days and stayed at B&B’s. Then we got a ride back to our car in Pittsburgh from Cumberland. P.S. - padded bike shorts might be worth a try? I like the Terry Cycling products that I can get on Amazon (women’s). Randy has a pair of padded bike underwear that he can wear under anything that he likes.
So what tunnel was the scariest you've been on?
I’d have to say the first tunnel on the Allegheny River Trail in PA. The tunnel has a curve so you can’t see the end until you are halfway through. Water is leaking from the roof and the pavement is curved to allow for water run off. There are little streams running down either side. So you have to stay in the middle! In the next few days we will be, hopefully, riding through the 2nd longest rail trail tunnel in the US - so that may turn out to be the scariest. We’ll have to see! Thanks for watching.
U should do Tucson Arizona loop
Thanks for the suggestion. We actually just finished riding 3 segments of the Chuck Huckleberry Loop. Should be putting those videos up in the spring. Thanks for your support of our channel.
Those people with children are WALKING thru this endless tunnel? They must be patient, to say the least.
@@LaurenceDay-d2p it was like a holiday activity!! You definitely had to keep a good eye on where people were. I’ve bought an even brighter light because we are going to ride through the 2nd longest rail trail tunnel in a few days. It’s in VIrginia. Thanks for watching.
Some of the graphics you put on screen goes away to quickly.
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately once it’s up, it can’t be edited. We appreciate your support of our channel.
Beautiful video.
Thank you for watching!
Hey Debbie, who did you buy your visor from? Almost everything I looked at on Amazon said that they didn't work with bike helmets. Yours seems to work great. Thanks, Phil
Visor came from da Brim. Ordered it directly from them. Takes a little bit of effort to get it on, but then it stays on the helmet nicely. Doesn’t fit quite the same on my Sena communicator helmets, but it does stay put and I can get to the controls to turn the helmet on. It does work great. Thanks for watching.
I rode the East Bay Bike Path end-to-end and back this summer. It's easily my favorite path in New England, for the water views and the trailside amenities. PlantCity in Barrington is tops for me food-wise.
Definitely a great path!! Thanks for sharing your experiences. We want to ride it again soon. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful trail, bucket list for certain. Your videos are very well done.
Definitely one we would say everyone should ride if they can. Thanks for watching.
About how long did it take you to ride from Hill City to where you had lunch?
That was last year, so not sure I remember exactly. We started at 8am and got to Deadwood at 3pm - so probably 3 hours. But we stopped at the train station, for the cows, and other things. Thanks for watching.
Great videos! I really enjoy them and seeing where I bike. You guys are awesome!
Thank you for your kind comments. We appreciate your support.
Why the awful music! Could not keep watching
The carriage trails have a speed lit of no more that 20 mph. Having ridden them, I dont think there is anything much over a 4% grade in there. The steepest grade in the park is a 7.4% quarter mile of Cadillac Mountain access road. The worlds steepest street is 35% and if you fall on that, you are rolling back down. Great video I am heading back up there for all trails ride tomorrow.
Thanks for the additional info. Have a great ride and thanks for watching!
That is why I dislike rail trails...good weather everyone is on them, they take zero effort, skill or anything else to be on them. Plus lots of noise and you feel like you never left home . To me those (clears throat) trails, are like having to take your sister to the dance....
We recently rode a trail in St. George Utah that had a crazy grade and even though paved was very challenging even with a class 1 e-bike! It was the Rt 18 trail. We did the 18 mile loop through Snow Canyon. The urban trails are always packed, and we usually end up there on the weekend somehow. We’ve ridden a number of really great trail trails. Maybe I need to make a video of the most challenging rail trails? Thanks for watching.
Yes, enjoyed the ride. Many thanks. Pete (Manchester UK)
Love the UK! Thanks for watching.
Excellent video. Reminded me of our trip to Seattle. It was beautiful. Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! We had a great time in Seattle and then the Olympic Peninsula on our cross-country trip last year. Highly recommend it!! Thanks for watching.
We recently rode the Betsie Valley Trail in Michigan and the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Iowa. Both are good ride for you to try! Love your videos! RV’ing with e-bikes is the best!
Thanks for your comments. We have the Betsie Trail on our list when we take a MI trip - hopefully next year. We heard about the trail from someone who lived there. Raccoon River was on our list last year, but we had to make a change of plans when returning from our cross country trip and that one fell from the list (still sad about that). We also have a lot of fun combining RVing and biking. We appreciate your support.
Exploring America's most beautiful trails from sea to shining sea. WOW! I felt poetic writing that.
It is very poetic!! We are having a lot of fun finding new trails to ride - just can’t get to them fast enough. Thanks as always for your support.
