  • Graco‘s latest airless paint sprayer unboxing and instructional video. How to setup the Graco Ultra QuickShot and a demonstration of how fast Ultra QuickShot cleaning is.
    Graco Ultra QuickShot setup, demo and review. This new cordless paint sprayer is the most portable airless paint sprayer ever, it boasts the lightest airless spray gun, with the lightest trigger response of any airless spraying gun on the market.
    As a humble Paint Contractor / Painter and Decorator, this is an honest review and instructional video. I was privileged to field test the prototype, so I can vouch for the research and development that has gone into producing this innovative cordless airless paint sprayer 💙⚡️

      Hi Pete
      I wonder if you could help me I am going to be spraying bull’s-eye 123 water base and I was wondering what spray filters would be best to use in a Graco airless paint sprayer many thanks

      Happy to help my friend.. as a guidance, an orifice size of .006 - .012 you would use a 200 mesh (red filter), then .010 - .016, use a 100 mesh (blue filter) - these are Graco guidelines to match the tip orifice opening to the mesh size of the filter - I tend to use the 100 mesh with the primers / topcoats that I’m using.. I’m thinking with 123 you’ll also be be fine with the 100 mesh / blue filter 👍
      Is it an Ultra QuickShot that you’ll be running?.. just thinking that the 100 mesh / blue filter is the smallest filter available - again I’ve had success running that setup with minimal - zero blockages 👍
      Hope this helps, feel free to reach out again if you need anything else from me - regards Pete 💙

    Great review. Have you tried any TriTech fine finish tips? The TriTech's run at higher pressures than the FFLP's. Wonder how they would fare in the QuickShot. This looks like a true game changer for high end cabinet painting when you have that one or two door that need to be re shot for whatever reason and also when you get low on paint. You don't need half a gallon to just prime a normal airless with 50 ft of hose for a few doors.

      Great news, exciting times my friend - you won’t regret your investment, the pump / line / gun holds just 1oz / 30ml of material - I use just small amounts of cleaning material, starting by using an old brush to return the product to the can, then clean the pot, before circulating small amounts in prime and flush through the gun in spray - like I say just very small amounts of cleaner each time 👍 - let me know how you get on and your first impressions, regards Pete

    Great video pete,i had a feeling when i saw your post yesterday it might be the graco quickshot and was hoping it would be,so is this a game changer in your opinion?it looks terrific and seems to spray ever so well,does it really eliminate spits and did you get any at all?i have the graco ultra max handheld and this looks like a much better option,time will yell how good the pump is on the quickshot,finally pete the spray finsh looks really neat from the quickshot could i use it on kitchen cabinets?thanks for all the effort and time you put in to these videos

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Eddie.. thank you so much 🙏 yeah the Ultra QuickShot was born out of customer feedback, people like you and me who have benefited from the HH technology but wanted a lighter gun with more manoeuvrability.. it’s the trigger press that’s a game changer, just like a traditional computer keyboard, the trigger press to release and shutoff paint is so quick and light.. the airless technology is more in line and comparable with bigger hopper feed pumps, Vs the original HH FlexLiner system, it’s a big plus for me who is a fan of a hopper.. being airless, the transfer efficiency will always be the same when high pressure is used to atomise paint.. but the ease of operating the gun, and the delivery speed of the material, ‘it almost seems the efficiency is improved’.. without doubt, using FF LP tips the finish is awesome, certainly can be used to refinish a small run of kitchen doors, or any onsite spraying of small joinery projects.. hope this covers your points and helps my friend, always feel free to reach out.. take care.. Pete 💙

    👏🏼 great video Pete! Aarrgghh if only if was £300-£400 cheaper I'd have one in my hands right now 😬 I know I keep banging on about it, I'm not afraid to spend money on an investment, but it does feel like they've priced too high, I know all the sales spiel but feels a little greedy to me.. Would've thought they'd sell more by then being slightly lower as so many people complaining about the price... There's no way it should be nearly double the cost of the last handhelds... Anyway, I best stop rambling on, I'd love one & will definitely get something smaller at some stage for the smaller projects. Always work as always buddy 👏🏼

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Apologies for delay, only just saw your question come up on this video - the overspray is the same as any airless unit, you manage it with tip selection, pressure and effective masking - huge advantage of the electronic gun and quick responsive trigger is manoeuvrability to get into tighter areas - that helps manage and direct the overspray 👍 You’re right a small / portable unit like this is perfect for doors and small runs of trim / woodwork 👍
      Great question my friend, keep in touch, I’ll always get back to you - regards Pete 💙

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jakub, thank you for your question and thank you also for watching 🙏 - The Ultra QuickShot in theory doesn’t require thinning, being airless it requires the right LP tip and pressure selection.. I say in theory because all airless units can benefit from an easing of the material to lower the pressure and atomise the paint better - Woodwork / trim paints, I don’t thin at all, I like to spray low viscosity paints (free flowing, spray only) that spray beautifully with FF LP .008 tips - emulsions / latex paints for walls and ceilings, I will ease the flow with 10% water and spray with a FF LP 514 / LP 515 -
      It’s a very good question, I will look to demonstrate this in future videos 👍 Check out this YT Short, showing how good the UQS is at spraying staircase joinery

      Hello my friend.. the QuickShot is great for small projects - small runs of internal joinery, a door or two, feature wall, small ceiling.. completing average rooms in private / occupied houses - a 390 is certainly up to the task, also a GX unit.. perhaps a GXFF Cordless (I’m a fan).. it’s like the ‘big brother’ to the Ultra QuickShot 👍 regards Pete 💙💯

      @@PaintHQ Quick question , if i need to to top up the cup before it's run dry can i just carry on spraying once i've filled it up or do you have to prime it every time you top it up ? New to spraying so a bit green 🤢

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re very welcome to ask questions on any topic anytime 👍 ..short answer is, you’ll be able to carry on spraying (no need to switch to prime) 👍 ..then if the pump ran dry, it’s good practice to switch to prime, fill the cup, prime over a ‘waste bucket’, switch to spray and again just spray over a ‘waste bucket’ just for a few seconds.. then you’re good to go - I say good practice, because let’s say the cup has emptied, and spraying has interrupted, staying in ‘spray’, pouring in the paint - I’d be pretty sure you’d be able to carry on spraying with no detriment spraying whatsoever.. because the unit will be pressurised still 👍 ..In fact, because of the small / hopper feed design - in spray, paint is delivering to the spray tip very quickly.. but if the unit wasn’t up to the desired pressure, the first few seconds the material isn’t quite atomising fully.. if you was spraying trim, you’d notice .. that’s why, ‘text book’ it’s better to spray into a waste bucket first.. hope that makes sense, I apologise for the essay 😆
      Let me know how you get on.. it really is a great unit.. super quick to get setup spraying and clean up 💙
      All the best my friend.. Pete

    Hi Pete. Greag video.. thank you! Wondered if you could help clarify a question ive been struggling to get answered. It states in a lot of places that this is for small jobs. Im a cabinet maker and might paint a media unit or wardrobe on average once a month. Usually run about 10 to 12 litres of paint in total for a project in a 2 or 3 day period, so the gun time is quite a lot in a short period of time but then might not be used for another month or 2. Would something like that classify as a 'small' job (im wondering if what theyre saying is basically dont try and 3 coat emulsion a whole 5 bed house with this) or would running 10 or 12 litres over 16 working hours classify as a 'big' job for this too? Dont want to srop 1200 quid and nacker the pump in 2 jobs. Or is this really just for the odd room of skirting and architrave and bits and pieces type machine? Thanks mate. Elliott

    • @PaintHQ

      Apologies for the delayed response Elliot.. your logic is spot on.. Graco is classifying small jobs with the UQS.. up to 3 gallons.. which is actually a healthy amount.. I personally wouldn’t market this to those as a ‘main airless unit’, more to compliment its bigger counterparts.. however I am hearing people like yourself m, using the UQS in a way you describe.. if so, I can vouch that the pump will last, but like all moving parts would wear and deteriorate.. it would be sensible to factor those costs in, knowing the pump will eventually need replacing.. but by that point, I’m confident the unit will be made money many many times over 👍💙 regards Pete

      Apologies for my delayed reply my friend.. I tend to use the Trimaco paint strainer bags - you can wash them out easily and reuse (if using WB paints).. Or fruit / veg bags, readily available in UK supermarkets (fruit and veg isle) in Aldi, Lidl, Asda 👍 However, paint quality and ‘sprayability’ of paint plays a big part - heavy / course pigments can cause smaller orifice tips to block 👍 Hope this helps 🙏 Keep in touch.. regards Pete

    Hello there Peter. I really enjoyed the video as I'm looking to purchase one of these sometime next week. In Australia they retail for $1900.00. For my painting business i like to use an oil base undercoat followed by two coats of oil base over the top when painting trim. Have you sprayed any type of oil based paints with this machine? And if so how was the finish?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello my friend 🇦🇺💙 - I do hear that oil based solutions are popular in Australia - I’ve not sprayed oil / solvent, neatest has been an alkyd, so a hybrid but still a water clean up - however being airless and knowing how good the UQS atomises material, I’m confident saying you would be able to spray oil based no problem, and the finish would be awesome as you would hope 👍 - just change out the seal in the Graco RAC X guard for the yellow one, and I believe the yellow ‘ring’ that’s visible in the cleanshot (where the tip guard threads in to), is there for the spraying of oil / solvents - plus there’s the earth strap to attach to the UQS and earth to a suitable outlet, this is to give static / spark protection, that otherwise could result in an explosion hazard - hope this helps, if you’re thinking of investing, go for it you won’t be disappointed 🙏 keep in touch - regards Pete 💙

Essentially it’s moving parts, then considering factors such as speed (pressure), viscosity, quality of the material, cleaning.. it’s impossible to give a definitive answer.. what I can say, the Ultra QuickShot has a re-engineered pump Vs the original HH’s.. and this improved TRIAX II technology is now in the HH’s too, so an improvement all round.. Debating with my self between GXFF and UQS. DIY only. Need to start repainting hose, step by step.
    Can you push UQS let's say +_13m² room x3 coats, ceiling x2-3 coats next day. Once in a couple weeks or a month... Something like 6-7 rooms. When house is done, it should be good for few years and Sprayer mostly will be used for small furniture projects and so on. UQS looks so sexy, it would be so much easier and more pleasurable to use for later small projects.
    Or should I better look at GXFF?
    Thanks in advance for your opinion 👍🏻

      Regarding GXFF Cordless ? Some ozzies are saying it is pulsing quite more than corded. I mean - cycles between low-high psi when running. Not constant, pulsating supply? Have you noticed that? Isn't it getting in the way while spraying.
      Thanks buddy. Really appreciate for your help 🙏

      That’s a good question my friend.. the GX models being a single stroke piston, pulsing is noticeable in the ‘feel’, although I’m not aware pulsing is any worse being cordless 🤔 ..What I can say, any pulsing is not transferred / detrimental to the sprayed finish and I can confirm that with all the GX models.. here’s my video on the GXFF Cordless..

      Apologies for my delayed reply my friend, it’s a good question - in short, yes I would spend the extra and invest in the Ultra QuickShot - the lighter, more manoeuvrable, quick response trigger is worth the extra, coupled with quick setup and quicker cleanup - the pump / hose / gun holding just 30ml of paint makes material changes super quick - it’s s joy to use 💙 The Ultra and UltraMax HH’s still have a place, and it’s a great move by Graco to include the improved Triax II pump and funnel / strainer / seal lube - all very nice additions - the cordless range is great, I can’t deny I’ve been a champion of the technology for sometime 💙 Keep in touch, I will always reply and I’m happy to help and advise if I can.. regards Pete

      Hi Igor, thanks fir your question and sharing your HH experience.. Hi, quick question. Can you spray oilbased gloss on to your doors with this machine without any runs or sags? Or the airless pressure even at the lowest possible is too much for spraying oil based? Thank you

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello my friend, good question - yes you certainly can spray oil based products - it the tip selection that you need to get right to avoid a heavy coat and the potential to get runs - depending on the viscosity / thickness of the paint, you most likely would need a .010 such as a 310 / or 410 (a 410 cones with the unit) - it’s the .010 part that dictates the flow (not the pressure), the pressure is mostly for atomising the paint, and has little effect in the flow - so a .010 has less flow than a .017 but not as low as a .008 - but a .008 would be too small for s thicker oil based paint - then the fan width distributes the paint across the width - so a 410 would have a much even distribution Vs a 210, but both have the same flow / let out the same volume of paint - hope this makes sense, just remember the pressure isn’t what reduces the flow 👍 regards Pete

      Pete.....after speaking with the lady at Sprayman, im thinking its either this Ultra Quick shot or the sprayman GX21FF....Think Mike is calling me Monday, but would love your feedback too.......will have some MDF panelling to spray too along with all wood work in a 3 story house with all spindles on stair case.......several ceilings and a few feature walls........will be spread over roughly 6 months as we are living in the house too whilst renovating.....Cheers 👍

      Hi Mark, my apologies for the delayed response, I will always get back to you.. the UQS is awesome and a great compliment to its bigger counterpart units - however, I wouldn’t use for bigger projects (like you’re thinking, a house renovation).. I’d also rule out the Wagner XVLP - I’ve got nothing against the unit, it can spray a fine finish, but it can be a pain to get the settings right, along with the paint viscosity ..you can’t beat airless spraying for getting up and running very easily with the right tip selection / pressure setting ..plus the fine finish at low pressure you can achieve with Graco FFLP is incredible .. on that note, an FFLP 106 is a great choice for spindles, only if you’re spraying (very) low viscosity products - these are spray only, and not products that can be brushed / rolled - a 208 could work, otherwise a 210 / 310 (a 210, you may need to move pretty quick).. my recommendation, would be a GX sprayer - a GXFF, or a GX21 (with a hopper, the SpraymanUK GX21FF is very good / best of both worlds airless sprayer) - if budget can stretch, the GXFF Cordless would be very nice to spray your renovation project - I’m a fan of the smaller 7.5m 3/16” hose, and it comes with the Contractor Compact gun.. it would be an awesome setup to spray staircase joinery, very portable to move around and is very capable of spraying emulsions / walls / ceiling.. so to sum up, I would rule out the UQS, then seriously look at the GX units - GX21 / GX21FF / GXFF / GXFF Cordless 💙 ..Mike at SpraymanUK is awesome, he will give friendly, expert advice.. say hello to him for me 😄 - keep in touch my friend, I’m always happy to help and will always get back to you.. regards Pete

      Pete,
      Thanks for that, had my eye on the cordless one, did think that would be suite more to my needs to be fair. Also was looking at that haftprimer to go over the stain on the staircase, would this cover the woodwork after a clean and sand? Then 1 or 2 topcoats of Valspar? Handles I’m striping back and lacquering 🤞👍

      Hi Mark, I wasn’t sure what products you was looking to spray and I didn’t necessarily want to influence your choice.. I do rate haftprimer, but it might be worth checking these out.. plus I believe will be more cost effective
      I use a lot of the products below for day to day internal woodwork, then WP198 on anything that needs ‘stain blocking’ .. they are low viscosity, waterborne industrial 1K products.. spray very easily, no thinning at very low pressure ..being low viscosity, I use .008 tips.. so a 208 / 308... Also the new Graco FF LP 106 is awesome on spindles (I know this tip caught your eye).. I’ve got some short form footage on my Instagram “paint_hq“ using a 106 👍
      instagram.com/reel/CsYVQfjoXdy/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
      Here’s the products -
      AkzoNobel WP198
      holmanpaints.co.uk/exterior-wood/286-sikkens-rubbol-wp198-high-build-stain-blocking-primer.html
      it’s actually a Sikkens product (exterior), has great stain / tannin blocking properties.. takes a little longer to dry Vs WP136 which is my go to high build primer for white woods / pine / mdf - excellent on mdf with its edge sealing properties..
      WP136 Water Based Primer / Edge Sealer
      holmanpaints.co.uk/interior-wood/171-akzo-nobel-WP136-highbuild-waterbased-primer-edge-sealer.html
      For the satin topcoat.. AkzoNobel Aqualit (Supercryl) Waterborne Enamel Topcoat
      holmanpaints.co.uk/interior-wood/169-akzo-nobel-aqualit-waterborne-enamel-topcoat.html
      You get a beautiful cabinet like satin finish ..and very cost effective, especially in 5 litre cans..
      Comes in white, then if needing tinting both primer and top coat can be colour matched off any colour chart..
      I’ve used Holmans for years, the Holmans team are all super helpful..
      Can be delivered next day if required.. If this helps at all, Holmans have a 5% discount code, across all their range, if you place your order online..

    Hi pete watch all your videos as real want to get into spraying top class work bro, but the thing is i want to get this spray but just got a few things on my head, if i had a new extension to spray eg new plaster and skirting would u firstly sprày the mist coat tàpe the skirting, then retape the wall to spray the skirting but if the customer wants oil based duluk satin or gloss can u run it through the sprayer and cleaning would u use white sprite .and same with bin primer or would u not recommend it through the machine , or just stick to waterbased paint and does it not matter if u had new plaster and sprayed the skirting with water based paint and not tapeing above the skirting to protect wall as its new plaster hope under stand what i mean keep the videos coming mate many thanks and happy new year

      Hello my friend, thank you so much for watching and supporting PaintHQ.. I do get what you’re saying and I’ll try and help best I can.. typically the order to spray is woodwork/trim, walls and ceiling last.. then a ‘text book’ answer to mist coating fresh/new plaster, would be first, before everything.. but to do that I would roughly run a 4” crepe tape over the tip of the skirting to keep the mist coat off the woodwork/joinery.. or run a 6” paper 👍 then proceed to spray woodwork, walls, ceiling.. now if you’re spraying a WB / acrylic woodwork/trim paint, like I often choose to do - you could get away with spraying woodwork first (before mist coat), then mask woodwork cut line and spray your mist coat 👍 the acrylic products I use on woodwork (in my opinion) have no detriment to the mist coat and/or acrylic / vinyl emulsions (latex).. if I feel
      It’s needed I sometimes scuff up with a light abrasive the overspray on the walls, before going on with emulsion ..(I think that answers one of your questions).. then regarding oil / solvent based products in the sprayer - that is absolutely fine, just clean / flush through with appropriate solvent clear (such as white spirit.. methylated spirits / denatured alcohol if using BIN or a shellac).. if using a solvent / oil based product - I would definitely mist coat first as above (protect joinery) ..I personally would discuss with client the advantages of using s WB product though - quicker drying times, less smell / certainly no long lasting smell, non-yellowing.. WB products have come on a long way 👍 hope this helps my friend, wishing you all the best on your spraying journey.. keep in touch, would love to hear your experience.. regards Pete 💙💯
