Ashton's Court completed in late 1939 was probably Lincoln Corporation's first development combing flats and lock-up shops, with 6 flats above the shops and 16 behind, around the rear courtyard. The civic crest is on the gable. They have been many shop occupants! Two of the longest lasting were Masons fruit and veg, and the Lincoln vac centre. Lots of Henry the Hoovers in the window!
I can't remember anything of that area until much more recently, it wasn't part of my "patch" back in the day, the nearest I ever got was the City Vaults pub :)

In the 70’s along there I remember Mr Morris the watch repairer, Meldrum’s (?) fruit shop. Troika gift shop and Gays women’s fashion shop .

I wonder if Norwoods shop moved elsewhere as I seem to recall the name but not in that location
