  • Find out about the worst protein in the world. You won’t want to eat this!

0:00 Introduction: The worst protein in the world
0:56 What is textured vegetable protein?
1:52 How is textured vegetable protein made?
    4:26 Protein poisoning
In this video, we’re going to talk about one of the worst protein sources in the world. After having a horrible reaction to some “chicken wings” that I ate, I called to find out what was in them. It turns out they were plant-based chicken wings made with textured vegetable protein.
Textured vegetable protein, or textured soy protein, is the worst protein in the world. Soy or cottonseed is used as the “vegetable” to make this protein.
Textured vegetable protein was invented in 1960 as a way to use the waste produced from seed oils. It has been used in veggie burgers, fake meat products, cereals, and many other food products.
Textured vegetable protein is an ultra-processed ingredient. To make it, oil, nutrients, and fiber are removed from the soybean using heat and chemicals like hexane. There are no long-term safety studies or upper limit on hexane established by the FDA. Chronic hexane toxicity is a condition caused by inhaling hexane, so what happens when you ingest it?
Over 95% of textured vegetable protein is GMO, and when consumed, it robs nutrients from your liver. It’s very similar to soy protein isolates.
Any time you consume pure protein without fat, you are creating stress in your body, especially if the protein doesn't contain key nutrients like fat-soluble vitamins A, E, D, and K.

I was lucky, I just never liked the taste of soy, so I always avoided anything that had it in it. After a while, it simply became suspicious to me that it is almost in everything... 🤔

Just imagine....you could be even healthier if you implemented animal based products into your diet. Research has proven that our digestive system absorbs protein and nutrients from plant based products at only a fraction of the rate it does with animal based products...don't shoot the messenger, you can't argue with science! But at least vegetarian/vegan diets are healthier than ultra processed food diets and though it's possible to be in descent health on plant based products, over time, the only thing saving you since you are vegetarian are eggs, they are a fantastic multi vitamin but optimal health can only be achieved through clean animal based products including both meat and healthy fats and of course pasture raised eggs!

I've been a vegetarian/pescatarian for almost 3 decades now, & during those yrs, was a vegan for 3+ yrs - was the happiest & lightest in all aspects, yet, decided to discontinue due to over-processed options, despite of the complimentary/abundant choices in recent yrs. To me, regardless of the diet types, the choice in the whole foods vs. processed supersedes all. Still there is always another way & another choice to be healthier individually, but the WHOLE FOOD (preferably organic w/ known origin when/if applicable) is the way to go!! ***another great health benefit I've learned/gained re: myself from veganism was cutting out dairy reduced the break outs & inflammation almost entirely; since then I keep dairy consumption minimal to none*** + intermittent fasting (along w/ prolong ones) has been a true winner for me! FYI, my choice in vegetarianism lies strictly/wholly on my deepest LOVE for animals - just no need to treat them that cruelly whatsoever...... again, there is always another way & another choice... I'm ashamed to be a human on this planet earth (so difficult on a daily basis...), just the most severe & detrimental ignorance & brutality... My health is the most important thing, but the LOVE for animals & this planet is far greater!! & yes, we all have our own way to contribute, big & small, what resonate the most w/ our hearts... for that, Dr. Berg, what you do for all of us is immeasurable, to say the least, THANK YOU!!!!! Utmost appreciation & love... 🥰😍🤩🤍💙💚❣👏👍🍀🌻🌈✨🕉

I am currently dealing with breast cancer and was told to stay very far away from soy. Since it enhances estrogen, it was feeding my breast cancer. However, when I was recently fighting my colon cancer, I was fed gallons of ensure and tons of protein bars in the hospital. 😂 who'd 'uv thunk it 😂. I now research and question everything!😊

I made potato lentil and rice soup the other day and when I went to add a bouillon cube from the bran Korr or karr (the salty chicken flavored cubes you add)
I noticed the third ingredient was hydrogenated seed oil.
I shouldn't have but I threw a cube in My soup anyway for flavor.
I was given three boxes of the stuff from a food pantry recently. But because of the hydrogenated seed oils I'm throwing them all away. I should have just used to sea salt and dealt with a semi bland stew.
I say semi bland cuz it had rosemary, tyme, fennel seed, turmeric, paprika, clove, cinnamon, chopped fresh garlic, garlic powder and olive oil.
And with everything else I eat I add functional mushrooms of rishi, chaga, and lion's mane.
Rishi is immune-boosting an anti-cancer. Chaga is immune-boosting. And lion's mane is for anyone with traumatic brain injury depression or anxiety. The study show improvement on people have TBI, depression or anxiety. But normal healthy people with no brain damage, don't really benefit from lion's mane.

Dr Berg I remember you spoke about Soy 8 years ago and how bad it was . I avoid it 100% .
Process at that time was what caused me to end up sick with Health issues and ever since, I don't eat just anything, I will do without it. First thing you have to do, pick up the product and check the ingredients Label and read it .
By now you know a lot about each ingredient, if it's Good or Bad. *Or else go and take Nutrition Class at your local College or check out your local Hospital*

Sad that with any new trend, every crook jumps on the marketing wagon to falsely label a product as healthy. We've seen it with oats, flaxseed, bone broth, chia, olive oil, aloe, stevia, coconut oil, probiotics, ...the list goes on ad nauseum. We can't even trust the Certified Organic labeling anymore.

Was in the grocery store and heading to give blood. Thought I should maybe eat something, as I had not eaten that day yet. You are suppose to eat before donating.
Looked in the keto section. Certified keto, what ever that means. Chocolate covered almonds.
Contained cane sugar, second ingredient, HFCO, soy and seed oils. And some chocolate, almonds and stivia.
5 grams of sugar per serving, which would not amount to much. Maybe 4 if lucky.
Decided against eating and was just fine, which I wouldn't have been if I had eaten that stuff. I ate at supper that night.

At home, after scarfing down a handful, I read the ingredients: "Cashews, peanut oil, cottonseed oil, sunflower seed oil, canola oil, salt". I feel poisoned. Why, oh why can't I remember to READ THE INGREDIENTS before putting it in my cart! Yech! 🤢🤮

Actually processed food is defined as one that has undergone changes to its natural state, by modifying structure, such as hydrogenating, to removal of, and or adding ingredients sugars and oils. But I get your point.

I used to be a militant vegan (a LONG time ago) so I know about TVP. I ate it a lot. It never affected me this way. Maybe the kind you had something wrong with it, maybe not cooked all the way, or just handled improperly. I am not saying it's a great thing to eat, and I would agree it's pretty crappy protein, but in a pinch, it's better than nothing.
