As an African, raised in the countryside of South East Nigeria, I grew up in a family that obtained 80% of their food from our domestic farm [plants, goats and poultry]. I had no single inflammation growing up. I was healthy and never knew such things as ulcer and inflammation. I moved uptown for greener pastures and boom EVERYTHING collapsed. Now I spent 60% of my earnings treating health issues that shouldn't have arisen. I lost my twin brother 2years ago to Colon Cancer, and kept battling my gut issues until I stumbled on your page here. Thanks Dr Berg for what you do with these enlightening videos. I've started IF and watch what I eat now and I'm healthier and grateful to God directing me towards your resourceful videos.

Corruption is rampant in the food industry. Thank you for speaking the truth. I'm nearly a senior and I've never reacted to gluten all my life... but the last 10-15 years... have been very painful due to inflammation. I've been following your advice for nearly a year... my body is healing from inflammation now. Thank you so much.

I started getting inflammatory arthritis in my hands and wrists mainly but also throughout the rest of my limbs from time to time, it was life altering and it has been ever since. i finally figured out that it is grains. I quit eating those and it all went away. Every so often I get a craving for the old pasta/ rice habit and within hours my joints swell up and in the middle of the night It's bad enough where it wakes me up. I go back to no carb and within a few days it's gone. I lived in pain and destroyed my joints for 25 years having no idea what the problem was. 100 times to the doctors and Arthritis/rheumatology specialists and all they said was we don't know or take these drugs. The whole time it was just stop eating grains.

Once I did a very short (probably a week or two, I don't remember) anti-candida diet with no grains, no flour, no nuts, I did eat cabotia pumpkin in my omelet mixture, meat, lots of dark green leaves and other vegetables, except carrot and beets, no sugar, olive oil and once I had avocado and strawberries on separate days - no other fruits due their high sugar content. In a few days my energy skyrocketed. Oh, I was also taking abou 5-10g of spirulina a day. My mind got so clear that I said, "I found the cure for depression". I felt I was smarter 😂. It's true. P.S. Ppl should have a microbiota exam to see what bacterias you may be missing there. I recently found out I had 3 missing = zero, nada! Ramadhan 2018 is when i first stumbled upon one of Dr Berg's youtube video and i have never looked back since. He single handedly changed the course of my understanding of nutrition. The transition was seamless as i was fasting for ramadhan. All i had to do for the transition, was to eliminate the high carb and processed food intake during ramadhan and replace it with nutrient dense food such as greens, fats and protein. I was already working out prior to the whole experiement. And within few weeks i could see veins popping out on my biceps. a clear indication of fat loss and muscle preservation. A few months into strict keto i could see my abs for the first time in a Zara (clothing store) changing room. I know this sounds weired but i still vividly remember this and even captured a photo of this. I have achieved my core objectives but I still apply fundemantal principles learnt from keto according to Dr Berg's advice.
    Shukran Dr Berg!

I was diagnosed with celiac disease (gluten allergy) about 5 years ago! I was told by the docs that diagnosed me that it was hereditary. I've heard other things that it was in the way food is processed! I honestly believe it is in the way our food is processed! I traveled abroad to Europe and ate some of the food from countries in Europe that I haven't eaten here in the US and low and behold I had no symptoms or reactions whatsoever! Makes you think some doesn't it! Just like big pharma, I don't trust our food industry either! It's all about the profits! I'm glad we at least have good people like Dr. Berg and others to shed some light on this!

Eric, notes I've picked up that may help your future research: Glyphosates use popularity happened at the end of the 1970s, it's sprayed on wheat just before harvest to kill and forcibly dry the wheat (corn/beans get sprayed earlier in the season for weed control). HFCS and seed oils replaced real sugar and animal fats during the 1980 recession/inflation surge as food companies scrambled to remove costs from their products. The whole thing about New Coke was to introduce the switch to HFCS. Get a stack of high school yearbooks and look at the activity pages photographs (which will have photos of general population students) from 1975 to 1985 and you can see what happened. Now, what do you expect those food companies are doing during this cycle of high inflation? ...

Hello. I have hypothyroidism and have always had problems with my weight and energy levels, even on the correct dosage of my medication. One day my blood sugar was high on a routine test and the doctor told me I might have pre-diabetes. Being overweight and tired all day, with digestion problems was more than enough. So, with the most motivation I have ever had in my life, I decided to eliminate all UPF and sugars. I also started reading the nutritional chart and ingredient tables of everything I bought. I lost 10 pounds in 15 days just because of that. After that I tried plant base diet (I still eat cheese and eggs). Four months later I am incorporating small amounts of lean meat once or twice a week. I have already lost almost 30 pounds, but the most important thing is that I feel great, no more digestion problems, my energy is incredible, no more headaches or general fatigue. And my blood sugar levels went from 140 to always being below 100 without any medication.

Food intake patterns and 25-year mortality from coronary heart disease: cross-cultural correlations in the Seven Countries Study. The Seven Countries Study Research Group

In the Seven Countries Study, associations between the intake of food-groups and 25-year mortality from coronary heart disease (CHD, defined as sudden coronary death or fatal myocardial infarction) were investigated. Baseline surveys were carried out between 1958 and 1964. A number of individual characteristics were measured in 12,763 middle-aged men belonging to 16 cohorts in seven countries (USA, Finland, The Netherlands, Italy, former Yugoslavia, Greece and Japan). Dietary information was collected in sub-samples using the weighed record method. Vital status of all participants was verified at regular intervals during 25 years of follow-up and the underlying cause of death was adjudicated. Eighteen different food-groups and combinations were considered for comparison among cohorts. Large differences in food-group consumption were seen, with high consumption of dairy products in Northern Europe, meat in the USA, vegetables, legumes, fish, and wine in Southern Europe, and cereals, soy products, and fish in Japan. Population death rates from CHD showed large differences, ranging from 268 per 1000 in East Finland to 25 per 1000 in Crete, Greece. Animal food-groups were directly correlated, and vegetable food-groups (except potatoes) as well as fish and alcohol were inversely correlated with CHD mortality. Univariate analysis showed significant positive correlation coefficients for butter (R = 0.887), meat (R = 0.645), pastries (R = 0.752), and milk (R = 0.600) consumption, and significant negative correlation coefficients for legumes (R = -0.822), oils (R = -0.571), and alcohol (R = -0.609) consumption. Combined vegetable foods (excluding alcohol) were inversely correlated (R = -0.519), whereas combined animal foods (excluding fish) were directly correlated (R = 0.798) with CHD death rates. Multivariate stepwise analysis selected butter, lard + margarine and meat as significant predictors and produced an R2 of 0.922. These findings were confirmed by factor analysis. These cross-cultural analyses are consistent with the hypothesis that dietary patterns are important determinants of differences in population CHD death rates, and confirm the opposite effects on apparent risk of animal and vegetable foods.@@kitxxxxxxx

It's a good idea to make a small jar of sauerkraut once or twice a year to help rebuild the right beneficial gut microbes. Just shreds half to one whole head of cabbage, add about a tablespoon or two of sea salt or Himalayan pink salt, and then knead the salt into the shredded cabbage gets nice and watery. Then stuff the cabbage and briney liquid into a glass jar and loosely cover with a lid or cheesecloth and a rubber band and place in a cool to room temp, dark cabinet or cupboard. Let it ferment for a week or two.
Store bought sauerkraut has been pasteurized and most or all of the microbes are dead. You need to make it at home every once in a while to be sure you actually get some live, active and healthy gut microbes and to rebalance things.

My first attempt to heal my digestion problems all involved taking the standard items- pills, yogurts etc. - with varying , but all inconsequential, results. And after being on antibiotics for an infection the problems got MUCH worse, as in going to the doctor worse. But the thought just struck me one day, out of the blue, while I was waiting in a McD's drive through of all places, that maybe I wasn't getting the proper bacteria and that I should try something that is just loaded with live bacteria - so much so that many people think it smells like vomit, yet it is an actual food you can buy at some markets. That something is the Amish style Gorgonzola cheese that is sold in a wedge. It smells horrific to most people , much more so if it's fresh. Just a few teaspoons of this stuff on 5 Triscuits on one day, and the next day my problems had disappeared. This was 15 years ago, back when organic Triscuits- the ones not so loaded with glyphosate -were unheard of.
Still, the live bacteria in that wedge of cheese must have been what fixed my problems which I had been suffering from for months after having had a regimen of tetracycline. I also discovered that the product, when purchased "precrumbled" , is likely to be dried out and not effective. It's not hard to tell if it's dried out ( and that can also happen to the wedges). It doesn't stink anymore. A side note: stay far, far away from anything that's loaded with glyophosate, starting with any brand of non organic oat cereal. I'm looking at you, Cheerios.

People used to like to use it when talking about stuff like cloning. But I think the real everyday effects we see is that we think we are smarter than nature. Natural soil and bacteria? Naw, let's kill it and just put the minerals we know of in there and call it good enough. Natural food? Naw, we gotta break them down and find a way to mix it up with other things to make it addictively delicious and shelf stable. Oh your body became insulin resistant from excessive strain? Here's more insulin to flood your system. We keep fighting nature. We keep trying to force our way. We keep trying to play God.

LECTINS can cause problems...for some people. I believe we need to learn more about them. Gluten is ONE type of lectin, and there are thousands. I think what's needed is information about the difference between what's universal and what depends on the individual, ie. there are universal truths about humans, but there are variances between people and how they react to nutrients. Knowing the difference would be KEY.

@lawrencetrujillo7365 cutting out all possible inflammation causing foods is the best thing to do. Takeaways:
    1. Unfermented fibers are very inflammatory but fermented fibers are anti inflammatory.
    2. Microbes are important that changes game for fiber.
    3. Antibiotics kill microbes..which leads to inflammatory and which again leads to weak immune system.
    4. Now a days, most of UPF, ultra processed foods have Glyphasate which is antibiotic which kills microbes.
    5. Wheat products, sugar, oil , upf have these glyphasites

Consider HRT. this fixed absolutely everything for me. I ate well, worked out, and was 140 lbs until my periods stopped, then all hell broke loose. that was 13 years ago. I tried every thing. gained 106 lbs. finally got HRT, and recently thyroid NDT, now I am losing a lobs or 2 a week without trying, and gaining my life back. no need to drink gross fermented stuff. but I do eat yogourt and about 12 cups of veg and 2 fruits a day. plus meats, but never any oils, just good ole butter, cream, and olive oil. no processed anything, not even any canned or boxed stuff. all from scratch. I am 63 now, and I eat cake every day (but I make it with natural non wheat flours and use dates or fruits to sweeten.

It’s not red meat that sits in your gut and rots. It’s plants/fiber that does. Fiber over taxes the digestive system. You never fart when eating carnivore. Farting and most other gut disorders is 100% from plant based foods. Human beings were designed to run on meat/fat.

RObert Kennedy spoke about the link between glyphosate in food and declining health with increases in disease across the board. I heard recently on a separate podcast glyphosate attaches to the glycine amino acid receptor and causes that amino acid function to basically be halted or hindered because it can't bind to it. If you look up what the functions of glycine are, you will see what glyphosated foods (to include all the vegetables and fruits that are sprayed with it) are problematic. This is why canivore/lion diet followers experience amazing health improvements and stop being pasty white and red and actually begin to tan. Eating proteins increases peptide productions ,and peptides are all the rage in health. Only if you're animal protein deficient do you need to really hassle with getting those. Cows have 4 stomachs and even if the grass has some overspray of stuff (because we aren't spraying grass to contaminate it as a food supply, it's for animals so we leave it alone ironically) their stomachs will filter it out. It's the CAFO cows that are being jammed with mold producing grains products and pumped full of antiobotics that are the problem. Poor animals.

Thanks Dr. Berg for all your videos. I started a modified Keto diet a few weeks ago. I say modified because I allow myself up to 100g of carbs daily. I've been suffering from knee pain two yrs. due to osteoarthritis. I almost completely gave up walking. When I do walk, I use a crutch (old knee injury). After a couple of weeks on this diet, my pain level dropped by 50%. It has now been three weeks and I have walked more & more each week a lot of the time with no crutch. Hopefully I will continue to find what works in my diet for inflammation reduction.

Isn't amazing how some folks will absolutely decry that "more research is required" for some topics and yet on others they will say "just follow the science". Of course it depends what the topic is and whether or not their echo chamber has told them to support or deny it. I prefer to sit on the fence and listen, observe, research and think before I decide which side I support.
