@@nathansieg4467 Hi - at the moment I'm sticking with the PodGo, the functionality is perfect for my purposes (at the moment) - and the 2.0 update (the new cab system) has improved the sound quality enormously - I'll probably only switch if I really want it Advanced functionality requires an HRPrime or Helix
@@heikohesse4666 good to know. I usually buy for the just in case features then never use them haha. I loved the pod go when I had one. I’ve been curious about the 2.0 sounds like it’s pretty much the equivalent of the Helix 3.5
@@nathansieg4467 yes, the sound is largely identical, except for the dual amp and dual cab things, but that's possible with the Headrush Core/Prime - let's see... the PodGo is definitely the best device in terms of price-performance ratio
I love how all these videos on the Core praise it for being so good, yet every Prime video nags about how there's no real updated sounds. They're practically identical except the Prime is more usable as an all in one unit on stage. I spent $300 more and got a Prime and couldn't be happier! If your dropping $1000 might as well save a little bit more and get the flagship with all the features. By the way that 5150II sound is freaking huge. Good review.
Nicely put together - most people don’t appreciate how much work goes into these kinds of videos. I was wondering if you’ve tried the unit with acoustic? There’s not really much online regarding this (which seems odd as it has the whole vocal input / effects routine as a USP). Would be very curious whether it’s possible to retain the low end in both acoustic and vocal (any examples I’ve seen sound like they have an aggressive high pass filter on them).
Thank you mate they are a fair bit of work indeed but I've figured out how to streamline the workflow for each one enough that I can get them out every other week more or less now 👌. I do have an Ibanez Electro Acoustic that I run into it every now and again and it works great. I don't use an Amp model though just an acoustic IR with some effects. Hope this helps.
Couple of questions: do the revalver amps sound exactly like peavey revalver plugin? I always dug those tones. Second: when you're capturing an amp, does it mainly just end up going with a similar amp model and matching EQ or is it more of an exact profile of the tone?
To my ears these sound very similar to the OG Revalver plugin yep and with the last firmware update the latency also seems to have improved. With the profiling from what I've seen it very much varies by amp and how well the person doing the profile has set it all up. The profiles I have downloaded off the Cloud like the MT15 one this video have mostly been excellent however!
I’m an Hotone Ampero guy, but this looks and sounds great! Especially considering the amp cloning and revalver amps (we still need a fully functioning revalver plugin)
@@pratikgurung4009valeton and hotone are owned by the same company. They use the same modelling algorithms. You can see that in their amp and effect lists; they're practically identical. So, essentially it's form factor

Fk it, I ordered it anyway. Still curious as to whether it's been addressed. I read the recent firmware update pdf and it specifies overall system latency improvements...
The very latest firmware that dropped around Christmas time seems to have improved the latency to a point where it's about the same as other models now. Make sure you're running the very latest version 👍

Great video! Which ReValver amps are you experiencing latency with? If you A/B the same rig with FX & same IR, but switch between the HeadRush and ReValver amp, is it noticeable?

Thanks mate! I haven't and I mentioned in the Prime video I really have no knowledge about what makes a good vocal processor so I wouldn't feel right giving an opinion on it.
Good evening, good man. Thanks for the video - very aesthetic video, interesting thoughts. Prime is my first introduction to Headrush. Impressed with the device and its guitar effects. I have enough of them, I have too many of them. I'm laughing, because only the bogner red channel suited me from the distort guitars. For my songs, a warm, not harsh, lamp-like overdrive sound is best suited. Vocal effects and microphone input are very important to me, as I'm primarily a vocalist with guitar accompaniment for fun. Thanks a lot for the IR, it really sounds great. Sounds great with bogner red channel. Thank you very much, I bow three times. The only thing that disappointed me about Prime was the Practice Tool. Complicated "Tool", does not remember the volume settings, loads the audio file slowly, there is no way to quickly move through the list of backing tracks with footswitches. And fast movement through the list of audio tracks or loops has been known to me in Boss or Digitech loopers since 2010. It's a shame that the Practice Tool is impractical to use. Making Headrush a simple audio file player with a playlist that could be controlled with your feet would be brutally practical.
Many thanks for the kind comments! Glad you're enjoying the IR! Interesting the issues you point out with the practice tool. Is it the same wether you are streaming the audio file or loading it onto the unit first?
Sorry, I didn't mention that I use the practice tool after I have uploaded the works to the internal memory of the device. ( I'm a dark and superstitious person, I don't trust streaming :) ) I was once excited like a little kid when I streamed backing tracks from my tablet to Prime via bluetooth. But soon the bluetotoot connection went down and I won't try to use it again. Because it will be fun when your bluetooth connection goes down during a concert. It seems to me that the Practice Tool is designed to be a player for polishing and refining solo parts and other parts of the songs, though. Practice Tool is not easy and quick to use, especially its track list. For example, skipping from number one to number ten is not a quick process. The real bugbear is that Practice Toll doesn't remember simple settings. If you change the volume level - when you switch the device back on it will be -10 dB again. If you disable the wave file loop button, it is re-enabled after rebooting the unit. I have watched your other videos and they pulsate with high culture and wisdom. It was very well explained why you don't even want to buy cheap guitars - they don't have any spirit and don't inspire you to create. That is absolutely true.@@GuitarCinemaOfficial
How good is the drop tune/pitch shifting like is it just as good playing single notes vs chords? Does it sound good playing a guitar physically tuned to drop D using the headrush for achieving drop A? Does the pitshifing sound like the real thing and not artificial?
The built in Pitch Shifts work great so long as you put them right at the start of your effects chain as the first block otherwise they can filter the Amp sounds in an odd way.

Do Prime and Core sound the same? They have different power supplies which I suspect could affect the sound. This is the case with high-end audio devices. The same situation between pedalboard and MX5 where some say there are sound differences (resolution, sound dimension). Thank you
Hello, John. Thank you for the amazing reviews you provide. I am preparing to re-amp guitars for an album. I have a headrush gigboard and a headrush mx5, and I am extremely satisfied. hey man, great review. I'm looking for a companion for my Tonex. I'll use the Tonex for my amps and the companion for effects. Would you lean towards this or the HX stomp XL (noting that you have demoed helix gear before!) Thanks!
In general. I think the Helix/HX stuff is starting to show it's age a bit with sound quality. I can't however fault the versatility of what the helix stuff can do. So my opinion is roughly, Headrush sounds better. Helix is more versatile/flexible. Hope this helps!
I have heard that you can select 2 different amps and cabinets at the same time but my question is can you split the different amps or cabinets also from left and right that you have for example left a clean amp and right a crunsh amp thnx anyway great upload
How does this sound through a tube amp? I’m tired of doing set ups for my mic and pedals for my weekend gathering with the kids and wife. This is just straight plug and play. But I’m concerned about how it may sound from not a FRFR speaker. TIA. Also this is a great review by your self. Thanks for that. 😊
I wouldn't recommend pairing this with a tube amp tbh although you could look up using it via something called the "4 Cable Method". Sort of a hybrid modelling/amp solution. To get the best out of this unit just pair it with any set of Studio Monitors or an FRFR, or if you really like the feeling of a traditional cab pushing air you could use it with a small pedal based Poweramp to drive a Guitar Cab (I use the Harley Benton GPA100). Just make sure you disable the built in Cab-Sims/IR'S. Thanks for watching!
Definitely possible to pan seperate L and R Guitar signals with their own chains but im afraid I don't know about also having a Vocal signal at the same time. Your best bet is to join the HR Facebook user group and ask there, everyone is quite helpful!
My friend bought one the other day and the wah and volume seems to not working it show that its been selected but not getting any sound. Actually tried the connects around and seems like it working backwards. Could you do an depth video on how this actually should set up and assign 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm not much of a Wah guy in fact I've never used it! I'd recommend you join the Headrush Users Group on Facebook and posting this there they are very helpful!
Set it up from the effect itself. Can also configure the direction of the wah, volume, and expression pedal from settings. It's highly configurable. Get the .pdf guide. Takes a while to master it all as there's so much in it.
The built in Pitch Shifts work great so long as you put them right at the start of your effects chain as the first block otherwise they can filter the Amp sounds in an odd way.
Great info - but just a note on the video style.... please address me, the viewer, and not the guy sitting 2 meters to the left of me. I can't be the only one who finds this camera angle impersonal and somewhat infuriating. :) You have a lot of good stuff to say... so say it to the audience and not to the imaginary 3rd person.
Plenty of times I address the camera directly for example at 5:48. People in general look better from an offset angle to their left as opposed to dead on, so I do favour the Slider cam in the edit. Don't we all want to minimise how ugly we look deep down? 😅
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Thanks for the reply. Ya don't look too ugly dude :) But yea, understand you motives - just need a bit lees of it. It's contemporary, I guess, but not a style that I personally like. But I'll be watching more of your content whatever, as it is informative :)
Touchscreen on the stage floor.....nothing to worry about there. Harping on about all the features.....my 20 year-old Digitech GNX4 has more useful features. 8-track recorder, drum machine etc. What does a gigging musician do when some idiot drops a pint glass on the touchscreen and it's out for repair? I have tried soooo many modelers but I keep going back to the GNX4. I now have acquired a further 5 units for backup....all of them are like new. Less than a thousand quid for all six (and they have expression pedals). Just sayin.
Everyone I've seen who regularly gigs with this unit installs a plastic screen protector for this reason. It does also have a "Hands free" operation where you can do almost anything using only your feet. I take your point though. For gigging I would probably still use my Kemper and it's Remote foot switch. Ultimate sturdy tank build quality!
It couldn't be used within hands distance of a rowdy audience, but then a lot of pedalboards couldn't thesedays. You can set it back a bit if needed and rig it for an extra footswitch if needed.
There are many reasons to find this more that somewhat infuriating. For example, the piece he plays at the beginning doesn’t have enough notes played within to qualify him as a good guitar player. I would also say the same as the - wait. Did he change his shirt? Regardless, the fact t that he cannot play all of his guitars at the same time exposes the dilemma we are all in. We imagine we have extra arms, hands, and fingers plus another head and two more ears which we can use for the new guitar we think we need. Now with Headrush and the like, we have a bigger problem with the idea that playing many cabs, heads, combos, and IRs from every possible hole in the earth at the same time will make us more likeable and make the opposite sex (or same or neither) proposition us to fertilize their free range eggs. Guitars are problematic.
I have no control over the Ads TH-cam chooses to place. Even if I de-monetise the video they will still be there. And I bought this Core with my own money and did an objective review off my own back with pros and cons so it's nothing like an ad.
Just bite the bullet and spend 50 cents a day on TH-cam premium it's well worth it not having to sit thru commercials. You get more than that too. Omg I sound like a commercial now I'm so sorry😂.

But I do like the cost of the Pod Go and have been tempted to go back to one b/c it literally does just what I need. the Headrush offers scalability but it's $$$ even on the used market.
What are you really leaning towards?
They really are 90% identical lol. I initially had a Prime but now downsized to this as it's the perfect living room jam setup size for me.
That MT 15 rig sounds huge.... Wirh that little tweaking and thats the result??? Yes sir headrush has killed it. Great 👍 review brother 😎👊👍
Yeah dude all I did was use my own IR and add the Green Tubescreamer up front 🤘🤘🤘. Thanks for watching!

That would be great!

Hello James. I'm impressed with your overall approach, vid and info wise. Of course you are a vid producer, a real pro. Your insight it's very valuable in order to gather more info as possible before buying. Thanks a lot for your IR, my first one 😀 and still I don't have a unit. Maybe is something easy but I would like to "gimmick" all my old amps and cabs! Best. ( Those Headrush speakers are what they call flat response(?) and can be use with the core unit, right?)
I have the Prime and I love it but I think the Core will travel *way* better. Thanks for the vid!!
Hey James, has the latency for the Revalver models been addressed. Very keen in getting the core but not if there's an ongoing latency issue.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial is it that noticeable in live situations sepecially with ambient fxs?
@@WholeLottaBulldog hey man. How are finding the core? Sold my hx stomp and im more in not heavy music but more like grunch and ambient. Im so confused between the core and the Ampero stage II. @@Benson.BereTV I switched to the Core almost immediately after it launched and have only had a good experience with it since tbh. I play modern Metal and Ambient Clean stuff , I've even downloaded some great sounding free Amp Clones like the PRSMT15 one used in my Core video. Thank you very very much for this video. One thing I would like to know is if it's possible to have at least two different routings for left and right channel (so to achieve a stereo effect like with the doubler effect in Neural DSP plugins). Thank you again!
You can do hard pans to left and right on some of the rig templates sure. But I don't think it's quite as flexible as something like a Helix or QC.
Nobody is doing any reviews on these with guitar and vocals as a solo type of gig board Andertons did one but it was with tracks. I want to see a review with a real time acoustic/singer thing

Thanks so much for the kind words my friend I have never tried a Hotone product so I will see what I can do!
Great tones, great review! I own the mx5 but kinda turned off by the amplifiers, did you notice an upgrade in the amp models?
The new Revalver Amps included in this are a significant improvement over the stock HR models in terms of feel/accuracy. I've also been pleasantly surprised at how good some of the free Amp Clones are that I've downloaded off HR Cloud.
NIce joob, I really want one of this headrush core. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Which ReValver amps are you experiencing latency with? If you A/B the same rig with FX & same IR, but switch between the HeadRush and ReValver amp, is it noticeable?
Basically all the Revalver Amps but particularly high gain rigs where I'm playing staccato heavy riffs. If I A/B rigs with the Revalver amp then Headrush equivalent I can feel a difference. This is through a Headrush FRFR or my Yamaha monitors.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficialhey man. I've read in forums that this still exists. They say that revalver amps are much more good sounding but if this latency is so noticeable specially in live situations. Just wanted to know if it got updated to the latest patch and fixed befofe buying?

Have you tried the mic/vocals features? Any thoughts?
Thanks mate! I haven't and I mentioned in the Prime video I really have no knowledge about what makes a good vocal processor so I wouldn't feel right giving an opinion on it.
any problems having to reboot the machine ?
Amazing video.

Do Prime and Core sound the same? They have different power supplies which I suspect could affect the sound. This is the case with high-end audio devices. The same situation between pedalboard and MX5 where some say there are sound differences (resolution, sound dimension). Thank you
Pedalboard and MX5 definitely have a slight sound difference to my ears. But Prime and Core I am hearing no difference at all.
Great review brother. Helped me finally make my mind up.

Thank you for the amazing reviews you provide.
I am preparing to re-amp guitars for an album.
I have a headrush gigboard and a headrush mx5, and I am extremely satisfied. But I'd like to upgrade to something of higher quality that's suitable for home studios and reamps. Which processor do you recommend: Kemper Player, Headrush Core, or Line 6 HX?

Has there been an update since this video was made? I think that I saw a video saying there was an update that fixed the latency on the Revalver amps.
The MT15 is my go to amp tone on my Kemper. I use Tue Madsens profile and it sounds absolutely crushing! Its a great little amp.
I have come close so many times to snapping up a used one but they seem to go for very strong money still! I saw one in stock online at a local Cash Converters once for £300 but it had sold by the time I got there 😂
@@GuitarCinemaOfficialThe only thing that's put me off is all the guys on forums talking about how loud they are! Way louder than a 15 watt head should be. Probably because they have full size power tubes? Unfortunately I have neighbours to consider. Lol
@@AWMJoeyjoejoe Somewhere on TH-cam is a video of the Director of Engineering at PRS saying that in 20mins he can mod an MT15 to be a 30watt amp. That tells me that it has the components of a much louder amp!

hey man, great review.
There is a strong sound delay with the drop tune pedal
Thanks for letting us know. I haven't used the drop tuner and generally don't like them but I will investigate!
I have heard that you can select 2 different amps and cabinets at the same time but my question is can you split the different amps or cabinets also from left and right that you have for example left a clean amp and right a crunsh amp thnx anyway great upload
Yes, you can. Just run stereo out to your interface or mixer via XLR or 1/4". Stereo separation is adjusted via "Rig Width" dial.

What this guy said 👆
How does this sound through a tube amp?
Sounds amazing! Sadly, when I try to IR download link it just takes me to a 2off-pres5.wav in the Dropbox. No IR file.
That IS the IR file my man. Load it into your Headrush and try it :)
Is it possible to create 2 guitar signals with different effects and have them out on L and R outputs separately and also separate vocal signal?

Completely untrue. I have never claimed to be a "good guitar player".
