    I purchased the MX5 in March, but as soon as this thing came on the market, i returned it just before the return experation date, and scooped up the Prime. It was one of the best decisons i ever made. This Beast is Awsome.

    The more I see of this, the more i like it. I really like the idea of being able to Clone Pedals. Most times, the multi-effect units dont have a very good distortion. This way you can clone you favorite pedal and use it IN the modler. I think I see what I want for my 54th Birthday in October :)

    I have a helix and a gig board.
    Helix more processed polished sounding more options and pedals amps etc and updates are the best. The headrush is easier to dial in, IRS on HR sound better than helix IRS, looks better cooler and sounds more organic and real. It also seems to pop out of the speakers more. What's better? Honestly idk i love them both so much but if i was starting out with no experience, headrush wins hand down, its just easy to dial in

  • @Rocktalk101

    As cool as this is the more technology you add to these pedals the more complicated they become as well as the more issues you can and will have with them. And on top of that it will take you weeks or months to just figure out how to use the basic functions of it. I own a Boss GT-1000 and I love it but I am still learning how to use things on it after a year of owning it and using it just about everyday! lol!
    I think to much tech can be a hinderance more then a help but that is just my opinion. Most of us do not want to spend weeks and months or even years figuring out how these new high tech pedal boards work.
    We want to be able to plug in dial up some tones and rock out as quick as possible.

    • @JohnvanCapel
      @JohnvanCapel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think this is more a problem of the user-interface rather than the sheer amount of tech - and that's one area that HeadRush definitely gets right, in my opinion. Tons of options, but they're all presented in a way that makes them super-easy to get into and get to grips with.

    • @Rocktalk101
      @Rocktalk101 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnvanCapel I agree with you on the user interface situation as some are easier to use then others.
      I did have the headrush MX5 and even though I ended up getting 2 units that were defective which kinda sucked it was very easy to use and get started with it just had some major clitches in both of them for some reason.
      But that is also the reason I ended up with Boss GT-1000 and have not tried anymore headrush stuff.
      I will say there is a definite learning curve with the Boss GT-1000 and the manual that comes with the GT-1000 is worthless and does not tell you crap about how to use it which I think is B.S. Boss used to put great manuals in with there gear that covered everything but not anymore.
      But after I figured it out I do love it and it has been a great multi effects pedal.
      My point is that they are putting so much stuff in these pedals now that some of them you have to be a computer programmer expert just to use them! lol! And it can be a little bit much for the average player to wrap his brain around.

    • @v3rlon
      @v3rlon ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I know what you mean. We should get back to those tubes that never wear out. No wireless rigs because of interference and we all know that guitar cables last forever. Tripping over cables only happens in movies. I mean seriously, whoever had a 9v battery die in a pedal at a bad time? It's not like all that vintage gear is expensive and heavy or anything. Just grab some change out of the sofa and fling $25K at a couple of tube amps, some cabinets (replace a few speakers), grab a handful of boutique pedals (learn their interfaces), build a pedal board, and pay a couple of roadies to lug that around.
      That is so much easier than reading a manual and playing with the multi FX unit. But, I do have to admit that re-ordering pedals or just tap-dancing over to different settings on the same pedal is a lot easier in modern digital rigs.
      Seriously, I get the who paralysis analysis thing. The guitarist with one reverb always knows which one to use. The guitarist with 30 reverbs is never sure. Still. I guess I like playing with multi fx.

    • @Rocktalk101
      @Rocktalk101 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@v3rlon as much as I love the great sarcasm you obviously missed my point as well as the fact that I use a multi effects pedal I.E. my Boss GT-1000 which I also said I love.
      My point is that at some point it becomes way to much and over kill for most people who really just want a few great tones to dial up and rock out and it seems that the multi effects pedals are getting more and more complicated and you need a damn engineering degree just to know how to operate them these days.

      They sound better. I had the original PB and they do not sound the same. Maybe similar, but tones are improved. The PB tones had this kinda glossy layer (some call it "digital") over all tones, sounded great on clean tones, but was irritating on the overdrive tones, which has been remedied on this Prime. The thing about infinite tweakability is it can sound as awesome or mediocre as you program it. You have the power! If you don't like the built in IRs, load your own. I'm enjoying mine very much.

      The profiles of amps are said to sound excellent - so if you don’t like their models you have that. I find that profiles are more to my liking if I’m jonesing for an authentic amp experience. I like Tonex profiles slightly more than fm3 models if that makes sense.

    I hated my prime, it crashed alot (apparently faults with the OS), the cloud never worked correctly it would say unable to connect or not download the IR's in a patch even though it said it would. The worst by far it the lack of a desktop editor even the Valeton GP100/GP200 has this. The learning curve was way too high, took it back and just went back to Bias FX 2.

      Not even remotely the same as the Spark. The similarities basically end at "They both use some form of modeling tech".
      They have very different use-cases. I wouldn't gig or go to a recording studio with a Spark (Speaker doesn't mic up well and the only viable option for going to a mixing desk is USB - which is very rarely even considered an option by the front-of-house at a gig, usually their USB ports are full or off-limits), but by the same token if I was just going to a family weekend I wouldn't bring my Prime-and-FRFR rig (Size and being more components to set up just for a weekend of incidental use).

They are rude and unconcerned about any issue . Absolutely a horrible company with awful customer service .
