This is on a server that has a ton of desync. Plus this is vanilla arma, there are hundreds of mods that do make it realistic. Nothing about arma 3 pvp is realistic though I'll admit to that, however once it's modded and your playing with people who know what they are doing on a GOOD server, then it defiantly is the most realistic mil sim out there.

@Sting Ray It is though lol, go into editor, get any gun (except maybe 9mm) and a headshot will insta kill unless the distance is far enough that the bullet loses enough energy to be partially blocked by the helmet. Even then, the 5.56 is probably the only round larger than 9mm that won't insta kill and it would probably have to be shot at like 1500-2000m to loose enough energy, plus it would have to hit the helmet and not the face. I have a feeling you have never actually played arma. Any of the actual snipers that shoot 7.62 or larger (maybe even 6.5) will go straight through the helmet and insta kill at any distance. You may be thinking of a ricochet, which will not insta kill when it hits the head, if someone is prone and you hit right in front of them the bullet usually ricochets into their head which does significantly less damage.
Watch some videos of missions being done by realism units such at the 15th MEU and you will see how realistic Arma really is when not played on a garbage server, played with people who aren't trolls, and the right mods are added.
wish we could turn back time, to the good old daaayyys, when drewski played arma more often.

I have 4000 hours and it kinda gets old, cause some basic design flaws just never get fixed the updates and DLCs ar lackluster and A LOT of great Modders just quit or went on to different games (or do their own games). Id rather go back and play Arma2 again if there were any good servers.

In arma, ping isn't even a real problem.. in games like cs:go, you need to have a ping below 60 or so to be able to compete

I just wish BI could fix the weapon sway thing. it's just too exaggerated imo. I can't move 2 feet away from my position without having to wait at least 30 seconds before taking a good shot.
Actually its your ping.
Everyone's game is insync with the server. If you are further from the server than your target it can move before you get the update on your screen. When you fire the server will register a miss because the targets change locations before your screen updated.
Its not the ballistic but the FPS (frame per seconds). You have to get the shot in at the right "Frame". In essence when you pull the
trigger you are sending the server a shot packet. If the coordinate matches what the server has for that target then its a kill/hit.
If the shot packet came in a few frames too late then its a miss because the coordinates don't match.

So Drewski I have a PC and Arma 3 but I have some serious framerate issues in multiplayer. I was wondering if it's because I unfortunately have to run on a 32 bit version of windows. I have pretty good hardware inside so I don't think it should be that bad. I'd love to play Arma online but less than 30 frames at all times really really is unplayable.

Hey Drewski could you possibly make a video on how to play Arma 3? The game has such a steep learning curve it's kind of hard to get into, especially with al the different game modes.

There's always some delay in ArmA, no matter how low Your ping is. Always.
The dsync is so bad because of many things, but the top two is server lag and the fact that you are not playing on dedicated servers.

Ping has nothing to do with the desync its the connection quality between you and the server, when i play on US Servers i get this to sometimes i have 500mbps fiber optic internet with a ping of 70 to the US from the UK my friend he has normal internet about 60mbps on copper line and he struggles to kill people on there with 110 ping

Haven't played Arma 3 in ages. Honestly I find Arma 2 much more enjoyable. But I never have had issues like this, I used to play Exile all the time and all we ever did was extremely long range sniping and I never have had anything like this happen to me

You can put yourself a waypoint with shift-click on the map. It will show you the distance to the waypoint ingame.

The sniper gameplay in this game is so broken that I can't even believe it... Still I play this game all all my free time, what is wrong with me?
All that is 'so broken' and shown in the video is caused by desync. You always hit your targets when your server is maintained well and you aren't playing on a different country's server.
There will always be desync in a server with over 70-80 people on it, and that is mostly the devs fault. Remember that we are talking about a game that only recently switched to a 64bit architecture. KOTH is currently one of the most enjoyable gamemodes for me, and the real fun begins with around ~60 people where the desync can really become unbearable
To be fair I never really played Koth but what I can see from the several youtube videos is that you play it similar to Battlefield. You get in with a vehicle and your certain gear and try to get to the objective under all cost. Therefore a lot of helicopters and gear is getting dropped really fast in huge sums. That is the part that fucks the server up. Processing all those objects takes a really big hit on the server. IMO Arma is just not made for fast paced gameplay with a lot of lifes. Bots and their gear despawn when you are far enough or after some time. That helps taking load of the server a lot.
It is true that Arma's engine is too old at this point and is so loaded it can barely walk anymore. Comparing it to Squad is therefore rather unfair. Also Squad does not grant you all those possibilities you get with Arma.
Crappy servers is causing that. I don't get that on >distrikt servers
ngl 166 ping is quite high. don't think you fully understood what you were talking about here. i don't see much teleporting at 55ms.
Could someone take an estimate as to how many FPS I could run in Arma III with the following specs,

i love Arma3 but some things was piss me on.
The new GPS makes my crazy. i cant see Teammates or Vehicles on it.
I now must press T to view distance on rangefinder. first think it was broken.
That Bug on ladders in Towers that show Players outside the Tower and glitch inside again.
And final that i cant look more than 2Km after patch. i have Viewdistance all on max but i see fog much clother than a half year befor. My best kill was 3.2KM. Now im happy when seen peopels on 2.oKM.
