Didn't know it's back up again, last time I played it I had I7 2600K and RX580 it was a bit laggy, now I have I7 8700K + RX6700XT but when I went to try it it was OFF due to Squad updates... I also prefer it to Squad 😎
@@ahetzel9054 100%, Squads a lot slower paced and tactical than your average shooter, but theres nothing more immersive then holding down a hardpoint as orbitals and mortars crash around you and a collective "FOR THE REPUBLIC!" from 20 players sounds as you push the offensive and a chain gunner literally just laughing like a madman mows down half a squad of droids and then immediately eats a headshot from the death squad of magna droids that are now collapsing on you as they come out of stealth
This reminds me of PlanetSide 2. The maps being super open, the variety of vehicles doing crazy maneuvers, and the instant shift from nothing really happening to a super intense firefight.

Galactic Contention is honestly such an upgrade compared to the actual Star Wars Battlefront games. It's just arcadey enough to be fun to play mindlessly, but still has those Big War Vibes that come with being able to build bases, use vehicles, and play strategically. So glad the devs continue to bring it back and make it better. Thanks for bringing more attention to the mod!
The fact that you can see the Star Destroyer sweep over the battlefield when it bombards is badass! What an incredible mod, easily the match of any Star Wars game that has been released recently. The mod team should be very proud!
1:40 this is actually a pretty nice cinematic moment - A squad infiltrating a base, they open a door with a prepared grenade expecting some enemies, see nothing but a couple of corpses, the thrower takes two steps, gets shot and releases the grenade, and the squad gets wiped out.
Anyone that grew up with the groundbreaking gameplay and charm of 2004's Battlefronts will have plenty to cherish here. The passion of a community never ceases to amaze me.
This is 32 gig star wars skins with insurgency explosions and and graphic capabilities the scene were drew was watching the lone guy running up a mountain shows just how powerful and detailed the software this game runs on is you could see all his little details down to the snow spray from his feet . Battlefront was a console game. if you got the right team on a new battlefront for modern systems it would be a whole new animal but to ask why they can't and aren't doing it and properly is the question and it's just as well these guys are making mods like this and just through in game conversations it sounds like they are constantly updating . I thought the snow map was great the plant life map needs some in depth lighting and the massive amounts of the large blue flowers need to dim in the daytime then fluctuate in vibrancy at night maybe even make a few dynamic Venus fly trap style ones to pick off the unsuspecting player it's all doable and you can see what they are going for it's stunning really .

As someone mentioned, its the project of Passion. But its also a mod for already finished military simulator which was fine on its own. But yeah its probably one of the best star wars games since 2012, along with Thrawn Revenge mod for FoC.

I’ve been playing this mod lately and I can confirm that it is extremely fun. There’s a few maps that feel pretty empty, but most of them are beautifully made and the vehicles and roles you can play as are incredible.
what I love is how each team plays differently. Droids have infinite stamina, never bleed out, but they can't be revived. clones have bandages and can revive, but then you also have the tanky commando that also has infinite stamina! it's interesting how each class plays and I'm loving it!
So glad its back! Hopefully they can fix the crashing / stability issues soon and also needs some more servers, quite long queues to get in a game at times!
I just love that people are still making stuff like this. The EU is something special. - Felucia looks pretty good already, but the ground cover could be a bit more green, blue, and sickly yellow. Right now, the ground looks too dry. Felucia should look soft and damp and disgusting, like the inside of a mushroom. - Ryloth makes no sense. It's a largely-desert planet with little surface water, and the only known snowy areas are on the night side. I guess that there might also be snow at the poles -- but since Ryloth is tidally-locked to its star, the lighting at the poles should look like perpetual sunset instead of a bright afternoon. I think that the planet is just mislabeled. The gray towers in the snow look like the architecture from Rhen Var (which would totally fit with the snow). - Coruscant looks a bit open, but that makes sense for a map with vehicle combat -- and the planet is so vast that you could totally have a less-dense part like this somewhere on it. I'd love to see way more of the holographic signs on the buildings, but I can see how that might affect performance. - Kashyyyk looks really good. I would just make some of the tree trunks thicker. Wroshyr trees are _big._ - Geonosis looks great.
Those orbital bombardments are gorgeous! Just watching the shots falling from the heavens and blasting up geysers of dirt and snow could keep me entertained for an hour 😂

I remember old days of this mod when it was dying and the few of us that were on would get the devs to set the map to Galban I think it was and those on the droid side would lay in the water with knives and would have to try and kill the clones. Was a lot of fun even then but glad it was revived and is still being worked on

Man I wish someone would make a "Titan Mode" mod in Squad. Of course the only problem is if it'd be popular enough to be worth the effort. I'm afraid I'll never see it from DICE/EA so it'll have to come from a mod. Loved 2142 for the Titan Mode!
Every once in a while I think about how cool it would be to have battlefront but behaves like Squad. A scream game I always wanted to make was something between a risk and battlefront where you command an armada to do strategic objective, but then you take over a hero at a battlefield to help guarantee that objective. Wherever you DIDN’T go will get a random outcome based on what troops got sent in, but then you get to control the battlefield much better where you actually went.
The jet droid on felucia segment is giving me serious Planetside 2 Light assault vibes and the whole video is reminding me of the good old days of the original SW BF2. Man that is tempting to get squad just for this...

LAATs are one of my fav Republic aircraft, just something about dropping in squads while also providing fire support since the LAATs have laser pods, rocket pods as well as cannons that the pilot can fire if im correct.
It'd be cool if you could change the color of your sights specifically for situations like you faced on Rhen Var where you weren't able to even see them well enough to aim
This is exactly what I wanted from the new series of Battlefront games, but we got those loot box messes and paywalled character classes. Looks like it's time to upgrade the PC and buy Squad for this.
Only thing I'll say is that I wish they'd remove vehicle smoke, it makes every ground vehicle fight play out like Squad where the prevailing strategy is to pop IR smoke and hide in it the moment you think you're being targetted in a bad situation (which is totally realistic, it just feels way out of place in Star Wars).

Man I wish someone would make a "Titan Mode" mod in Squad. Of course the only problem is if it'd be popular enough to be worth the effort. I'm afraid I'll never see it from DICE/EA so it'll have to come from a mod. Loved 2142 for the Titan Mode!

Every once in a while I think about how cool it would be to have battlefront but behaves like Squad.
A scream game I always wanted to make was something between a risk and battlefront where you command an armada to do strategic objective, but then you take over a hero at a battlefield to help guarantee that objective. Wherever you DIDN’T go will get a random outcome based on what troops got sent in, but then you get to control the battlefield much better where you actually went.
There needs to be a study on how one of the most recognizable ips ever doesn’t have a ongoing AAA multiplayer shooter

It's crazy (but ultimately makes sense) that the upcoming golden age of gaming would be brought about by the pure passion of the players while these AAA lifeless corporations slowly fade into obscurity. What a time to be alive.

The Jettrooper gameplay reminds me a lot of Light Assault gameplay in Planetside 2
LAATs are one of my fav Republic aircraft, just something about dropping in squads while also providing fire support since the LAATs have laser pods, rocket pods as well as cannons that the pilot can fire if im correct.
It'd be cool if you could change the color of your sights specifically for situations like you faced on Rhen Var where you weren't able to even see them well enough to aim

That Coruscant map is SICK! I always dreamed about a star wars battle in the middle of a city and now it's become reality.
This is exactly what I wanted from the new series of Battlefront games, but we got those loot box messes and paywalled character classes. Looks like it's time to upgrade the PC and buy Squad for this.
Would have been perfect if it ended with his final battle with Maul from Rebels. It really showed how much he grew up vs their first encounter.
Seeing the mothership appear through clouds as it bombards the ground is too epic
Only thing I'll say is that I wish they'd remove vehicle smoke, it makes every ground vehicle fight play out like Squad where the prevailing strategy is to pop IR smoke and hide in it the moment you think you're being targetted in a bad situation (which is totally realistic, it just feels way out of place in Star Wars).
The thumbnail of 2 Rebel soldiers, with Republic symbols on their backpacks, with LAATs shooting at them will never not crack me up.
more of this please, its so fun to watch
fantasy/scifi milsim games with simulated ballistics and tactics is something we need more of, imagine how much more creative you could get.
