I don't know why youtube recommended me this at 2AM... but I'm glad they did. Drain cleaning is always satisfying, but the commentary is really what made this a fun watch.
2AM for me, six months later. When I saw the drain lines mounted outside of the house I was about to shout in dismay. Then I realized it probably never freezes there like is does in New England where I live. Still not a fan of combining sewage and downspouts, but there are a lot of old buildings int he US with the same arrangement.
I told my daughter that a drain was chock-a-block from the dunny to the gully, but not to worry. Bruce took care of it because he’s a legend. She looked confused, but correctly guessed Australian because she’s a 10 year old legend too. Greetings from NY!

Got to give you credit for taking that bit of extra effort. My brother needed a plumber last year and the guy (UK) couldn't find the stopcock in the house....took me 10 minutes and a third-half of that was locating the keys to the garage as my brother wasn't there.

So one day, and one flush too many weeks of backup came back up the pipes. It was solved quickly but man was a pain. The world would be a worse place without experts like you saving us. your videos a lot, you're a bloody legend!
My workplace needed you this week! The place was built in 1928 and has been held back for 2 decades for heritage listing/demolition for all that time! In the last 5 years the side of the factory has slid about 5cm to one side so all floors, walls, door frames and I assume sewer piping as the shitter gets blocked up every 4 to 6 months the last 2 years or so! Doesn't help there is a horrible pepper tree invasive weed of a tree growing on the other side of the block nearby enough to cause issues! We are in Freo, shoot me your deets if you are up for a challenge next time it blocks up, it would be a bluddy GREAT video, I tell you! Especially with all our shenanigans that you will walk past with the gopro! I tried looking for you, but don't know your business name so can't contact you, plus your apprentices might show up...lol It is planned for demolition in June or July 2024....shame though with the history in this place and what I have literally seen under the floorboards in the office!!! Old stuff from the 1950s to 1970s!!! Like a time capsule down there, Front end of an old car from the 1930s or 40s ffs!!!!

Bruce I know what you mean when you say those clay pipes are tree roots' heaven. Had my yard dug up some years ago and replaced the clay pipes. Plumber left 6 feet of clay pipe and I had to blast a huge root ball. Now when I hire someone, I watch their every move to ensure they are doing what I am paying them to do. It's interesting how plumbing systems are structured in other places. Here in western Canada where I live, water lines are buried under the house foundations; roughly nine feet below the surface as it isn't unusual to get winter temperatures of -20 to -30 degrees C.
This video shows the most haphazart waste water management system i have ever seen. It's one step up from just throwing buckets of sewage out of your window and into an open sewer grate

Having watched lots of your vid’s, it still gets me that you’re clearing the blockage UP the drain rather than from top downstream
Better to inject water into an empty pipe than a full one and have it coming back at you

It's interesting how plumbing systems are structured in other places. Here in western Canada where I live, water lines are buried under the house foundations; roughly nine feet below the surface as it isn't unusual to get winter temperatures of -20 to -30 degrees C.
That's what I was thinking. Drain pipes in the open air? Wait, it works if it never freezes.
This video shows the most haphazart waste water management system i have ever seen. It's one step up from just throwing buckets of sewage out of your window and into an open sewer grate
Open yard drains on the same drain too. The more of those you have, the more likely things will get clogged by leaves, dirt, and other debris.
