@@fireballsensei9287I’m sure most of those were because they weren’t sure they we going to make it or just wondering wtf the guy was doing… none of them were slowing for his safety.
@@mwwhited If they were "not slowing down because they weren't sure they'd make it," they're quite possibly clueless. Not only do they risk sucking too much water into the car's air intake and blowing up their car engine, they also could lose control of their car and wreck into a tree, besides possibly hitting a pedestrian and killing him.
I did this same thing once, in the dark in my neighborhood. Stayed out for about an hour getting all the drains unclogged, and I swear, being out in the rain and doing that was such a rewarding feeling.
It's a rush to be helpful sometimes. We had a severe windstorm that dumped a bunch of trees and a bunch of us neighborhood kids were able to get out with walkie talkies and directed traffic for over an hour. Small town but a busy weekend with a ton of traffic. We were all pretty jazzed afterward.
“Every time I see a ton of rain on the weather map I always jump in the car and head to areas that are prone to flooding”. Such a peerless heart of gold you’ve got right there.
People love to be a-holes, when it rains and i walk to the store there is always someone who speeds up in a puddle to splash me. But then there's also nice people who slow down or avoid the puddle. Doesn't matter if you're working or just enjoying life there will always be someone trying to ruin it for you. Can't let them though
@Sugar Well it is fun if the one I am splashing are my friends but when it comes to strangers especially a hard worker that’s helping you out nah bro that’s disgusting and if U think that’s fun ur a douche and I have nothing more to say to u
@Thomas L I've had some arsehole drive through the deepest part of a flooded road full speed to deliberately drown my car. My car was a Hyundai with all the electronics and he had a 4 wheel drive and thought it was so funny. I certainly didn't and I'm still peeved off because he could have just killed my car.
@Thomas L Yeah same thought. My dad used to drive a Subaru through water higher than that near our house. It was low to the ground but had 4WD so it handled it better than a 2WD but he said you had to should never stop and try never to slow down but keep the same pace. Just in the passenger seat, I could feel the pressure from when the water reached the bumper and then when it let go. It also splashed a lot. I also walked the sidewalk on that road in a few floods and was splashed. It sucked but I understood it. Most people aren't doing it on purpose in those conditions. People splashing on purpose are usually when it finishes raining and there's a puddle somewhere. You can hear them rev up and if facing them see them veer over to hit it on purpose. Driving on the sidewalks, however, is the worst. Those people should get reported and fined. If flooding is that bad you don't know if someone had to leave their house and is on the sidewalk. It could be the elderly, children, someone with pets, etc.
@@jarvindriftwood I'm not entirely sure he's correct with his 'never slow down' advice, because most driving instructions I've seen concerning waterlogged roads is 1. avoid if possible 2. slow down if you have to go through. Going faster just makes it easier to lose control of the car because of aquaplaning.
If you slow down, the water can clog your engine and cause your engine to lock up (flooding the engine). The never slow down advice is actually good advice. You should keep a speed you can control, preferably a decently faster not slower speed but not too fast. Don’t speed up but definitely don’t slow down.
Don’t award mediocrity, we don’t need to pat people on the back who follow simple rules of the road and Highway Code they should have learned already like slow down when entering a flooded area to protect your car, your brakes and yourself, this is expected of every competent and licensed driver. Anyone who just ploughs into the water is either blind or an idiot which is more dangerous. Blind people wouldn’t see the massive build up of water like the guy who hard splashed him, they slammed the brakes once they hit the water so they didn’t see it coming, in which case their judgement is compromised or their vision is shit, either way get them off the road The idiot drives on the pavement to avoid the water on a cluttered pavement with trees on a corner which could have pedestrians you don’t see or just drives through the water like it isn’t there, which can wreck the car and you just know they didn’t check their brakes after leaving the water to make sure they’re working properly so they’re both a dick who should be off the road but also driving a potentially unsafe vehicle, Bad drivers make normal drivers look good, don’t congratulate people for common sense, embarrass the bad ones so they go extinct, or put some cement mix on the pavement to fuse their brakes up good
@@meatballg8655 Mediocrity? I'd say the mediocrity here are those who are speeding though the water and driving on the pavement. What is wrong with patting someone on the back for a small thing? If this video teaches us anything it's that the simple things in life makes it worthwhile. By not splashing the gentleman is being thoughtful unlike some others in the video.

(10:35)..Why is this so satisfying to watch? Maybe because I spent 35 years as a NY building super and saw my share of clogged up drains, inside and OUT..Good on you, man....
You really should give these videos to your local news, your mayor, city council, and any people that live near those storm drains to educate them on the importance of keeping storm drains clear, how easy it is to clear them, and how clearing a few drains can keep streets passable and possibly save lives. Most people don't understand it only takes 6 inches of water to sweep a car away. Good on you to take the Initiative to help your community!
The problem isn't necessarily the city itself. You'll notice a lot of natural debris that gets swept into these drains and blocks the flow of water. Get the debris under control and no more clogged storm drains.

Greetings from the UK. What a community spirited guy. We need more people like you in the world.
Even I'm getting so pissed off with the people not slowing down and splashing.
Idiots
Hats off to the people who slowed down and didn't splash this Legend.
Blind people wouldn’t see the massive build up of water like the guy who hard splashed him, they slammed the brakes once they hit the water so they didn’t see it coming, in which case their judgement is compromised or their vision is shit, either way get them off the road
The idiot drives on the pavement to avoid the water on a cluttered pavement with trees on a corner which could have pedestrians you don’t see or just drives through the water like it isn’t there, which can wreck the car and you just know they didn’t check their brakes after leaving the water to make sure they’re working properly so they’re both a dick who should be off the road but also driving a potentially unsafe vehicle,
Bad drivers make normal drivers look good, don’t congratulate people for common sense, embarrass the bad ones so they go extinct, or put some cement mix on the pavement to fuse their brakes up good
For real
@@meatballg8655 Mediocrity? I'd say the mediocrity here are those who are speeding though the water and driving on the pavement. What is wrong with patting someone on the back for a small thing? I think this falls in line with that don’t you? If they have extra time on their hands, it wouldn’t hurt. I personally think community service should be mandatory for cops but not all share that sentiment
Cops should post up with him. Nobody would splash him then....
This man is a legend. Exactly 0% of other people wouldn't do anything like this, yet this man goes out in the pouring rain just to fix the city's road. He should live tax-free just for the amount of work he does for the city.
14:37 - "When I did this LAST YEAR". Wait... You telling me that he did this BEFORE?! AND IT WAS WORSE?! Give this man a medal🏅. You earned it man.
Yeah the field behind the sidewalk was flooded and the sidewalk grates were clogged too.
And there's a vid for that 1 too. It's like 25 minutes long.
I came looking for Big Whirpools..
But i Found a Hero...
I came looking for big whirlpools..
I found two holofans
I didn’t look for whirlpools but I found 3 holofans
Maybe 4 holofans?
Didn't expect to meet a matsuri fan here
More holofans pls ;)
This guy is a savior. He probably stopped an accident that day and definitely helped people get home safely. I love this.
It would make more sense to have a 2-3ft color-coded wooden poles at the kerbside to identify drains locations. They can be easily seen in a flood unlike arrows painted on a road.
Only thing is they’re one more thing to crash into
@@Robdutton91 On a rare occasion yes but easily replaceable.
Exactly
I like that he doesn’t rage out and shout at people who annoy him.
This guy is unreal!!
@@hordan0 Most people would shout at a car that splashes them without any consideration. “Dude, what the fuck?”
The guy is as calm as a coma. I'd be flippin off everyone hahah
@@hordan0 definitely not
Yeah, but they could still slow down while the guy's *obviously* trying to work. Wouldn't kill them.
Mad respect to the man unclogging and the people that are slowing down for him.
Right! I'm soo disapointed by those people who don't even bother to slow down.
@@monochrome1219 Inconsiderate bunch of lowlifes
This man is literally the embodiment of Saitama’s “I’m just a guy who’s a hero for fun”
He’s more like mumen rider in my opinion
