    I had an SS180 in 1968 with all the chrome and ‘Mod’ gear like crashbars, white wall tyres, front and rear racks, sports screen with huge ‘SS’ decals and six mirrors. Real ‘Quadrophenia’ style. I am pleased to see what Piaggio have done to gracefully evolve this classic icon. It a revolution and absolutely stunning!

    I wonder with the side skirt trim that they made this a little easier to service. The outgoing model made it worse over the models before that. Even if it just makes it easier top get to the relocated stuff. Planning on getting one in the next year. Probably let Vespa Motorsports figure out a few updates to make to it to get rid of the gaudy parts first (switcher trim).

    I don't like the introduction of more squarish parts like the spedo housing, because it will look dated, faster.
    I also don't know why the boss that sits below the badge needed to protrude.
    The new exhaust is likely a good thing, as the old bushings were expensive to own.
    No word on the dipstick?
    Wheels still ain't doing it for me.
    Like the no-blinkers!
    Shiny faux-chrome near the controls needs to go for safety. Jeesh, riding at night looking at a chrome cockpit.

    • @trustx2599
      @trustx2599 ปีที่แล้ว

      In motorcycle training class, the course teaches you shut the motorcycle off with quick shut off. You actually have to do this, constantly, during the riding part of the class. It decreases the chance of an accident(incase you forget to shut it off with the key). I have a scooter so I start practicing this technique. Much safer.

      Almost every rider in Asia is demanding keyless systems. You want it because it's convenient.
      When people pay $5000 for a Vespa instead of $800 for a Honda Suoercub, they EXPECT keyless to be the bare minimum.

    As much as I love Vespa they are pricing themselves right out of business ! For the price one is already in the motorcycle world. I’ve been to Rome 31 times and do not see many Vespas. Other scooters yessssss. And many but not too many Vespas. They seem to keep redefining themselves every other model year . Keyless ? Why ? Give me a break it’s still just a Vespa ! Believe me I love the Italian icon. Nothing like it. I put 100,000 miles on them over the years but they are too costly now. Even in Italy people cannot afford them.

      Well, I’m here in Padova this week. Many hundreds (thousands I’m sure) of scooters. Vespas are easily the number 1 brand. I have closely looked at them while running every am. 65%+ are real Vespas. About another 10% are Asian copies. 5% are Liberty’s with larger wheels. The balance are the main Japanese brands and BMWs. I saw one French scooter also.

    The first HPE modells were said to consume quite a lot of oil, if I am informed correctly it was because they used different piston rings. Is that fixed, or do the hpe‘s still burn more oil? Or is this just an urban internet myth? Thank you for your great reviews and tutorials, my 2018 gts 300 benefits a lot, as well as my wallet..😉

    • @Scootphoria

      It varies. Many of them did burn oil. But plenty of us never used a drop. Mine and a neighbors didn't but my friend's did. 33% is still too many. It wasn't much but if you didn't check it, that would be dangerous.
