- The 2023 (same in 2024) Vespa GTS is here! In this video we walk through the bells and whistles. Come get one - you'll love it.
I completely forgot to mention there is now a low tire pressure sensor on the scooter and an icon that appears on the dash when you’re low. Nice to see that addition.
Also a correction: the MIA system is only available stock on the Super Sport and Supertech. It is NOT on the base model or Super but is an accessory that can be added later if wanted.

In 1962 one showed up in front of my fathers house in a the same box.He had bought it from sears. It was a sears allstate.Red in color.I was 7 years old.Greatest thing ever.
Those must have been the days! Thanks for watching.
I just found this a few days after bringing home my shiny new 2023 GTS300. Mark & Co. in Tacoma had a super holiday promotion and I traded in my '06 and '07 GTS 250s for the 300 and a Primavera 150 Color Vibe. I'm struggling a little with the sheer amount of tech in the 300, but much of it is sensible and useful, I think (I'll figure it out before long, probably). My motivation was to have a scooter that would give me longer trips with better performance and comfort, and also a snappy smaller one for local rides, and that would be easier for my older daughter to manage. My younger daughter absolutely *loves* the new GTS, she declares it to be a "beast" and has decided that she will be the primary rider when we ride together. I'm hoping to be down there for Spring Scoot but, even if I'm not able to manage that, I plan to get there for some Portland rides when I can. Thanks for the review.
Congrats on the upgrade, dude! Those scoots look great and will be very fun for years to come. The secret is you don’t even need to use any of the tech on the new GTS - I sure don’t! 😆 thanks for watching and see you down here soon.
I love that a coolant temperature level has returned.
Yes!
Awesome looking scoot! I hope the new accessories plan continues down to the 150 range down the road!
Didn’t even think of that but yes that would be great. Thanks for watching, dude.
@@VespaPortland thanks for putting up awesome content of rad bikes for us to watch!
It was a long video but it did contain the information I was looking for…..how to open my glove box 😀 thanks!
Often overlooked! Thanks for watching.
Watching this video is painful while also very informative. Was supposed to get my motorbike license at the tale end of September, but a serious crash with a car driver while riding my ebike on my way to the test completely ruined my plans.
Next year I suppose though. Vespa is the brand of bike that I am leaning more and more towards. I particularly like how simplistic and user friendly they are.
Sorry to hear about that crash! I was lucky to get away with minor injuries after being hit by a car back in June. Hope you heal up quickly and get on that Vespa someday.
@@VespaPortland yep, been slowly working my way back onto the road. My obstacle now is that there are no motorbike classes to be had in the winter. Have to wait until March at a very minimum to get back up to par, and than try to get the test done as soon as possible.
Not so coincidentally is Robot from Vespa Motorsport featured unit number "0" and "1" in his video this week ...What gets me is that all three match the exact model and color scheme as the one I have on pre-oder for expected delivery next spring. Who woulda known that fire engine orange would look so damn good? Can't wait for mine. Cheers!
We were texting about that last week! Weird how it goes with shipping. Thanks for watching.
So enjoy watching your great presentation.
Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome video. Love the color. May be into your store soon to check it out!
See you soon! 10-6, Tuesday through Saturday. Thanks for watching.
Excellent Vid! Love every mod they made. That orange!!! Want!!!
Thanks, Dan!
Nice vid. Would hold off trading up until final word on the three mentioned OEM upgrades are available to review. As a rider who’s bought into heated garments, the idea of a heated saddle sounds so good.
Heated seat sounds incredible but yeah probably not a lot of reason for someone to trade in any post 2020 Vespa just yet. Pre-HPE, maybe. Thanks for watching.
@VespaPortland where I live is a vespa dealer you think they can help me get this abandoned vespa on the road again Hey, they abandoned the bike man. And trying to give some life. Too this vespa
@@VespaPortlandyou say when the bike is off no it doesn't because I hit the button and don't open the seat hey that what you say when the bike off I try
With Vespa, you half to luck out the year you buy one, I got a 2022 and now they change WTH? :) lol
Still love my bike, but these new ones are kinda cool -Thanks Andrew for another great review/demo.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.
Nice review, Andrew. Very thorough and articulately conveyed! Robot told me he has to start taking tips from your reviews before he puts on the hot mic and the cameras start rolling!
Haha!! Yeaaaah right. Thanks for watching.
Super Walk around LG from Austria 😀
Thanks for watching!
One correction I will make. You can still start your scooter with the fob disabled, however, you have to hold it up to the scooter where the wifi signal is. It's probably safer that way, since if you have your fob enabled and are within a few yards of your bike someone can start it and take off with it.
Good correction. I’ve got one too - the fob doesn’t work unless you’re within about 5ft of the scooter. Sometimes I wish it were further.
Thanky sir. I was thinking the same about the seat release in the glove box, then you said it. Designers should be users or get user input....or at least someone with common sense on usage. That orange does look good. But, I prefer BLUE 😃
Could always get into that compartment with a hammer to access the lever I guess! 😝
Thanks for watching!
@@VespaPortland yea a hammer 🔨 💪 that the only way I got the vespa for free If I get to fix it I really don't care because I got it for free. I didn't pay cent for it the bike was abandoned I don't steal I took it because of that reason if no I wouldn't never take it.
Need this orange scoot to match my orange 4Runner.
That would be awesome. Let’s make it happen!
Thanks for the review😊
You’re welcome!
Great first look at this amazing scooter. It's strange and probably just me but all the electronics put me off. If it had an old fashioned key I would buy it in a heartbeat and the tech version with the fancy dash is definitely off my list. Ok I'm an old dinosaur but they (vespa) lost a customer for a new scoot so my search will be for a 2015- 2022 gts300, but yes it's a totally beautiful scooter but modern technology has always let me down with reliability and I'm guaranteed to lose that silly little fob or drop it and the electrics to have a melt down, all good except fancy electronics and horrible chrome switch gear surrounds 🤷♂️ok dinosaur out 😎👍
Yes I agree with the comments about the electronics and chrome on the control surrounds!
Haha! Feel free to be a dinosaur! There’s plenty of good key-ignition Vespas out in the world for you to have a great time on. This GTS keyless system is the best they’ve put out so far in my opinion. The BV400 fob is a little too big, and the Piaggio 1 Active still makes you carry a key with the fob so you can access the underseat storage. A little odd! If they can get them all to be like the keyless GTS it’ll be better going forward. Anyway, thanks for watching. You’re probably the first dinosaur that has ever been able to type a comment! 😝 🦖
Wish that was black on certain models for sure!
@@VespaPortland lol it's hard to be positive about keyless systems and connecting phones to scooters. None of that on my px 🤷♂️😂 but Ile be getting something before this computer game model came out, I wonder how long all those little computer switchers on the handlebars will survive... Black instead of chrome would look super on that switchgear. I love the quality of the new legsheild surrounds. All in all a beautiful scooter but too scary electronic wise for this old bloke. 😁👍
My 2020 GTS Supertech has a joystick too and honestly I never touch it. Once you find your preferred set of information - mine being total odometer and trip odometer which are both visible at the same time on screen on that model - you just kinda leave it alone. Most of those dashboard functions are a one time set and forget. The switches are good quality! Rarely see issues with switches on bikes people actually ride. Ones that sit however will develop corrosion as you’d expect. Alright gotta ride to the shop and get the day started. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
Great informative video.
Thanks, John!
Very thorough review of the main changes for 2023 Andrew, thanks for posting this one. I’m considering upgrading my 2020 Primavera to a GTS 300, but not sure if my wife would think it a good idea !
You're welcome and thanks for watching. The Primavera is a great scooter too but the power of the GTS is just so nice. Take care!
Very informative video!
Thanks for watching!
What a great review
Thanks for watching!
Nice vid, thank you! Just got my GTS 300 super sport today and I like it a lot, I used to have the 2006 GTS 250 and still have the GTS 300 2019 HPE and the 2024 GTS is much more refined, much better suspension, much better brakes....and I also like the looks (grigio travolgente matt). The only thing I have a question about is why do we have the option of changing temperature units from F to C....is this used anywhere? I am missing my outdoor temp indicator on the old 250 GTS....
Celsius? It’s just the metric version of temperature and that unit of measure is used in every country on Earth except the USA, Papua New Guinea, and maybe one or two others.
Considering a 2023 300. In your opinion, best bang for dollar what would be your choice. Personally Leaning towards the SS.
They’re all within a few hundred dollars of each other and basically the same internally so it’s really a matter of what color your like best. For me, probably SS or Supertech this go around. Next model year, who knows! Thanks for watching.
Some things are inaccurate. For instance you said you don't have to wait for the dash to say you can now turn ignition. But you actually do. The switch is locked until it gives you that message. It won't turn on "welcome".
It absolutely turns on when it says Welcome. At least here.
Great video many thanks Andrew,,,,,

Front running lights, that was the first thing I added to my 2021 supertech, good to see that is standard now!
Agreed! Thanks for watching.
Love that color! Wish they would put colors like that on the Supertech. With regards to the redesign of the fork and weighted grips, the top case for my 2023 Supertech still came with the heavier ends. I did install them, but are you saying they aren't needed now?
Allegedly they aren’t needed but try them both ways and see how you like it.
Can you buy Factory spray paint in a rattle can to match your Vespa? Because I would love to take off those Chrome covers around the switches and paint them the same color as the scooter.
Unfortunately no! I had a long chat with one of the body shops we contact with and it turns out the paint code on a Vespa doesn’t match up with any of the larger paint manufacturers like PPG or Sherwin Williams so the painters need to pull a similar swatch and then work from there to find a decent match. What a pain in the ass! Thanks for watching.

would have been nice if the dealer hadn't told me the 300 Super has BT connectivity. I just spent nearly an hour getting more and more pissed trying to find the BT in the menu.....but it's only the Sport and Tech that have it. :\
Bummer about the time, lost! I hope we didn’t say the wrong thing in the video too. Details were a little spotty at the beginning. Thanks for watching.
Hi, very informative video!
I have a question about the Keyless knob/switch.
So, I always leave the switch on “Lock” when I park my Vespa. When I turn it on from the “Lock” position, I press it and then while pressed, i turn it to “ON”.
What I noticed, is that when I want to turn the switch to “ON” from the “OFF” position, while on your video and others I’ve seen, you just turn it right, for me it doesn’t work. I have to press it and while it is pressed, turn it right to the “ON” position.
My question is am I doing something wrong or it is supposed to work this way?
Hey there! I just got back to the shop and followed your directions. I think what's going on is normal. I can press and turn from lock to ON as well. And when I leave the bike in OFF and the bike turns itself off, I have to press to turn to wake it up and then turn it to ON. In the video I probably had recently moved the knob so the dashboard was still waiting for my input. Thanks for watching and have fun out there!
Nice review thanks
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
I get my one next week in the same colour
Sounds great! Have fun out there.
Thanks for all the informative videos! Much appreciated. I have a truly impertinent question... (Hypothetically speaking about a new Primavera 150) If a buyer wants to pay in cash, are they likely to get a discount or something free thrown in? Obviously there is a benefit of not paying interest with financing, but just curious if there are any other benefits. Thanks for your help!
Hi Maggie! Thanks for watching the vids.
Whether or not discounts will be offered depends on the dealer and their current inventory situation. It’s rare to see current model year bikes discounted but if a dealer has some of last year’s stock still hanging around there’s a better chance of negotiating a slightly lower price on those units. A discount is probably going to look like $100-300 off. The margin on scooters/motorcycles is not large and, unlike a car dealership, there’s no massive bonus paid out at the end of the month for hitting a sales quota to reimburse discounts.
Any advantage in paying cash for vehicles is more of a myth at this point. In a scooter/motorcycle shop, the manufacturers pay Sheffield Financial (or a similar financier) to buy down the interest rates. If the customer’s bike is purchased with a national financing service like Sheffield the dealership is paid the exact amount on the invoice, as if the customer paid cash. The customer then pays the financier directly. So as far as the dealer is concerned, cash and financing is the exact same thing. In a car dealership, financing is done in-house and they make a killing on having customers finance so even there cash isn’t king anymore because that’s a one-time payment with no opportunity to continue gouging you.
In general, your best bet with a dealership is to go in with a positive attitude, maybe throw out a number you'd like to pay for a particular scooter, or an accessory you have your eye on that you'd be extra tempted to purchase if it was discounted a bit (like 10-15%, tops). That goes a lot further than when people come in acting entitled, demanding discounts for everything when they have zero history with a particular shop. But then again, don't expect a discount. Hope this helps!
@@VespaPortland Thank you! I assumed there wouldn't be much in terms of perks/discounts, but I had to ask :). I was hoping I would be able to get a bike sooner than later, but I'll just save a bit more for a little longer. I very much appreciate your honesty, I didn't realize that dealer's made that much money off of financing.
ON A SIDE NOTE: I was wondering if there is an opportunity for a shorty, like the 5'3" range, to show us how they ride a higher seat scooter, how they back it up, and how they would ride 2 up... totally asking for a friend ;). Like your defensive riding video (which was awesome), I think this would be very helpful and possibly get more petite women into scootering.
I know test riding is the only real way to get a feel for the ride, I plan on doing a scooter tour at Red Rock later this month to test it out, but it would be really encouraging to see and learn from an experienced shorty rider.
Thank you, thank you, thank you
Crazy that you're doing a ride at Red Rock - the owner of that business is named Justin and he used to own Vespa Portland back in the day. Like 2002-2012ish. Say hello for us!
At 5'3 I'd recommend either getting used to putting one foot down when stopping and leaning over to that side, or adding a lowering bracket to the scooter. It drops the ride position a bit and makes for a more comfortable ride for the shorties. It only works on the 150 Vespas - the 50cc doesn't have this bracket. Here's a video from our friends in San Diego - th-cam.com/video/GSMgssgcylg/w-d-xo.html
The one thing Vespa and all motorcycle manufacturers need to provide is a built in DVR. As cars and trucks are a constant menace, recordings help provide evidence.
That would be great! Thanks for watching.
I wish you know the date that it will release in Thailand🙏🏻
Sometime in 2023. 😆
Bye bye keys. Thanks for making it harder to steal, Vespa. Don't agree with the glovebox operation but NBD. Great to see there will be heated grips and seats, I'm sure they will be very inexpensive....
The OEM heated grip set for the Piaggio MP3 is $194.25 plus labor so probably somewhere in that range.
@@VespaPortland That's not terrible, actually. Was expecting it to be more. 👍
We can make it more… 😈 😆
@@VespaPortland lol, the customer is always right give them what they want. 😂
That's Hottt!
Indeed.
“Bold New Graphics” type of walk-through. Yes, the front suspension may very likely be an improvement over years ago, but the wheels’ small sizes of all Vespas through the years have scared me when Test Riding at Vespa dealers and hitting potholes! Vespa is an iconic brand with definitive style and snappy handling along with insufficient acceleration for Interstate entrance ramps on to highways (which I probably should avoid on the 150’s). Why, oh why, does Piaggio ignore the needs (requirements?) for Automatic Self-Cancelling Turn Signals and Cruise Control? Yes, Kisan or Signal Dynamics aftermarket products might be the answer to the TS problem and, yes, a ThrottleMeister or Kaoko throttle lock might work…but Why should the aftermarket even be necessary?
I have found one scooter with Cruise Control (although only on recent years’ versions: Kymco AK-550. Let’s hear it for Taiwan, ❤🎉😊

Hi there, I was wondering do you have information and can you confirm whether the parts for the pre-facelift model fit perfectly the facelift version? What I'm interested in particularly are the flyscreens/windscreens and the sport exhausts. If they're not compatible, are you aware of any store where they sell particularly stuff for the 2023 facelift? Thanks very much in advance :)
Hi Nikolay. The flycreens/windscreens are different on the 2023. I’m not sure about the exhaust. The front and rear racks are the same. The cowl guards are different.
good review.
Thanks for watching.
So, still no outside temperature?
My 2006 gts 250 had it...
Looks like no outside temperature but that was often totally wrong anyway. On a hot day my GTS will say it’s 100°F when it’s really only 80° but the bike has been parked in the sun.
Use phone
Did the heated grips and seat ever make an appearance? A year later and I can’t find any evidence of it.
We haven’t seen them yet either! Hopefully soon. Thanks for watching.
Hey Andrew! Thanks for the review of the exact scooter I placed on order at the beginning of March! You mentioned that the wind screens may not fit the new model. Have you verified this and do you have a recommendation for a medium size, dark tint with black hardware? Also, have you heard when the heated seat and grips will be available? They was no news at the time I placed my order. Thank you!
Hey TR! We have verified that they take newer styled windscreens made for this model year. As far as we know (so far) there are no medium smoked options but generally there aren’t OEM smoked windscreens in the larger sizes because you’re supposed to be looking through them as you ride and a tint could be dangerous. That won’t stop the after market manufacturers from making them, though!
No word on the heated grips or seat yet. Or about that “after market” OEM exhaust. Curious to see all of that stuff hopefully this year? 🤷♂️
Have fun on that new scoot whenever it arrives! And if you were getting it from us, see you when you come in!
Is the TPMS system in 2023 vespa gts? How can tire pressure be displayed on the instrument cluster?
Yes it is. You can see the warning light in the picture when I’m explaining the dashboard. Look in the middle of the diagram. Thanks for watching.
Can a remote start be installed on the Vespa being that is automatic?
Haven’t seen it done and there’s no plug and play aftermarket option. Maybe it’s time to invent something and sell it to us.
@@VespaPortland Great thanks
Anyone care to share how much they pay for the bike? Walk out price.
Seem like dealer markup is crazy.
Hate paying $10k when used 2021 model selling for $5500
Here in Portland it breaks down like this:
MSRP: $8099
Freight/Setup: $980
Oregon Privilege Tax: $40.50
Total before DMV which varies by county: $9119.50
I paid $10,747 with tax included, destination charge, assembly setup charge, and title and registration plate, for a GTS Super 300, but that included a chrome rear mounting rack and matching red top case with back rest, as well as an outside cover and that was with a $400 discount for purchasing a new 2024 unit right off the lot, instead of ordering the GTS 300 Super Sport. I have since purchased with a 15% off discount for a genuine Vespa front foldable rack, and Vespa Low height Fly Shield. These Vespas as expensive, but I think it’s worth it. Loving it.
Have you had time to ride at night to see if the beam pattern of the headlight has improved? I have a 2020 Supertech and must say the beam pattern is awful with shadows everywhere.
We ride the same scooter! I have not taken the new GTS out after dark but I’ll try to remember to tomorrow - sun goes down at like 4pm now anyway.
@@VespaPortland I don’t think I could ever give up my 2020 Supertech as I feel it’s even more valuable now then it was before but if I did it would be for the white Super. I feel the white hides the chrome switchgear the best and I don’t want decals or a Matt paint.
Are you my long lost brother? I came off a white GTS Super to my gray Supertech. Love a white GTS!
@@VespaPortland So did I. I had a 2015 White GTS. Even tho I love my 2020 Supertech I must admit I miss the White.
@@VespaPortland What is your opinion on the beam pattern of your 2020 Supertech?
4:37 what sound is that after you turn it on????
Sounds like someone opened our front door at the same time and you’re hearing the bell. But a sound you should hear when a Vespa is turned on is a low hum which is the fuel pump priming itself.
Ah okay, if got the same Vespa gts 125 super sport in orange since Yesterday and i just want to ask. The Sound from the fuel pump is normal?
Yes. If you don’t hear it your fuel pump is dead. 😆
@@VespaPortland ahhh okay thank you for your answer! I Love my Vespa ❤️
My 300 GTS dropped a valve at 27000km. Vespa said that they had never heard of this before. Some online investigation discovered many 300 GTS owners has suffered the same fate. 1 in 2000 was the online estimate. Vespa refused to repair my bike under warranty, so I had it repaired, then sold it along with my wife’s 150. I am 57 and have been commuting on motorbikes since I was 19. I cannot believe that a 22hp motorcycle can destroy its engine in 27000km. I have ridden further on some of my mountain bikes!!!
That’s a bummer! Anything mechanical can fail but that’s too early. We’ve seen some GTS with over 60-90,000 miles that are still running great.
Why did they decline warranty? Were you still within the warranty period?
@@charkswitlazers it was still under warranty. One of the staff at the dealership said I must have been racing the bike. Seriously!!! I raced off road motorcycles for 13 years, I race track on a BMW S1000RR HP4, and I have never had engine failure on any of my race bikes or any other of my commuters. I sold my 800 GS to get the Vespa as I thought it would be more fun for short commutes.
@@shanewhitter4553 hmmm. If it’s still under warranty they should have replaced it, they can’t prove you were “racing” unless they pulled data from the computer or something that said you went way over redline. I would have fought back on that.
Wow! I had a Mazda that suffered engine failure on the expressway while driving...to think this could happen on one of these is eye opening! Sorry to hear this happened to you, good thing you are safe and nothing happened while driving this. Your story is the first I've heard about valve failure so I am curious (especially at 1 out of 2000) if the numbers have changed for the better now that the GTS has been out for a while.
The LCD screen on the dash is a big NO! It should remain faithful to the retro analog speedo only imo!

Only thing that bothers me is I don’t have it in my garage
We can change that!
So, base model price 2023-2022, what's the difference?
Here's the 2023 MSRPs in the US market:
GTS: $7,799
GTS Super: $7,999
GTS Super Sport: $8,099
GTS Supertech: $8,499
Base price of the previous model please?
You can find this stuff on Vespa.com. All the 2023's are about $700 more than before.
Just bought my very first Vespa, three weeks ago, the supersport 300, in matt black. I’m a little perplexed as to why Vespa can have the main speedometer in miles in the US, but us lesser mortals in the UK have to put up with the main speedometer readings in kilometres, but miles per hour in the red digits, strange as we use miles per hour, like you in the US🤔Maybe it’s a subtle punishment for the UK voting to leave the EU😳
Haha yeah that is weird. Thanks for watching!

Does the seat boot hold a helmet?
Maybe one of those sort of useless-in-a-crash half helmets. But definitely not a three-quarter or a full face. It is too shallow.
Why does that scooter dwarf the one in the background. Looks like a size of a motorcycle
Just camera tricks. That mint green scooter is probably 20ft behind the orange one.

Half an hour of talk mostly about cosmetic changes from 2022 model. But the most important and most debated issue regards Vespa - its front fork design and its wobble (major safety issue) known to the whole word is ignored....Why make lengthy review without actual test drive done, so the differences between this new model and previous gens would be explained.....HELLO ???

The black trim is nice but why the FU*K did they put chrome trim around the grip buttons? Seriously, someone needs to be fired for that.
😂
$8000+ for the scooter and you only get one freaking key?
Yep. My RAV4 only came with one key too and it was quite a few multiples of $8000. 🤷♂️
You got me wondering about that. So I googled it up. Apparently around 2022 there was a shortage of keys or key components leading to a new Toyota being delivered with one key. However, the second key was supposed to be delivered to new owners when it became available. So, one key is not typical. You might want to look into this if you bought your RAV4 new.
I am grateful that you mentioned the fact that Vespa only gives you one key. I have been interested in one of these, and I would certainly follow that up with the dealer. My purchase of any new Vespa would be contingent upon them, providing me with two keys. No two keys. No purchase.
Why do you want or need a keyless for scooter ? Why? Etc. vespa is always trying to reach define themselves every year. Pricing themselves out of business . Come on it is a scooter.
Why not? Keyless entry has been on cars for over a decade and no one complains about that. Just one less step to get going and no more keys swinging around scratching the glovebox paint.
Without handlebars, how would a person mount a Garmin? Also I believe phone pairing is Android only?
A mirror mount would work for a Garmin. iPhones will pair but if I remember correctly the text messages function works better or only with android. Not sure the vespa is smart enough for iMessage.
