Is it possible to make a Lotus Elise S1 even better?

  • The Lotus Elise S1 was voted Best Sportscar of the last 25 years by Pistonheads readers. You wouldn't think that it would be possible to improve on the recipe. Or would you? The experts at Analogue Automotive thought that there was a Singer Classic-type hole in the Lotus market that could be filled by a thoroughly worked-over Elise S1, and so they created the SuperSport.
This is the first in a series in which we cover the commissioning and completion of a SuperSport. We talk with Steffen Dobke at Analogue Automotive and follow the process through from start to end. Make sure to subscribe to see the whole series.

Can’t wait to watch this series! Oddly enough I also have a French blue lotus Elan S3 and planning on buying the same Elise S1 in the titanium grey next week from Stefan 😂😂

Small world! Good luck with the grey S1. Maybe we will bump into each other at AA sometime.

Honestly wish that lotus would have made a bigger push in America. The Elise is such a wonderful car all around. A pure drivers car.

@nicholashernandez1494 at least there's the chance to import them now under the 25 year rule.

Great video looking forward to seeing how the series unfolds. As a 22-year owner of a Sport 160 I can definitely vouch for the genuine smiles per gallon Series One Elise's can deliver :)

The donor car isn’t grey! It’s ‘storm titanium’ - it also looks too good to strip completely and spend 100k on so I’m interested in why?

@zedlicious it was/is a really good car, but that's sort of the point, start with a good one and the end product is the best it can be.

I don't know the science myself, but my understanding is that AA has been doing it routinely on Elises for many years without issues.

      Care to share why exactly?

If the powder coating is damaged, water gets in between the metal and the paint
