Those comments reminded me of my then boyfriend ( now husband) carried a set of pistons in boot on trips and actually changed them on side of road in lake district , this was before he put 3.0 v6 Essex in.

Crazy that Moss Motors, one of, if not THE, best dealers and manufacturers of vintage British motorcar parts, was founded by an American. Moss sold off the Moss Europe arm of the company in the 90s, the new owners ran it into the ground by the 00s, and Moss then re-entered the UK/European markets specifically to ensure that the parts manufacturers and suppliers who sold entirely though Moss wouldn't go bust themselves. A really praisewothy company.

Awesome episode! Amazing to see companies like Moss supplying modern parts to transform classics like this! Be sure to fit the gas struts the other way around, they last much longer as the Nitrogen gas is less likely to escape from the seal as it's facing downwards.
I had a 1980 1500 Spitfire in vermillion Red in the early '90 great fun but felt old fashioned back then. Mine like to take off when the speedo showed 105mph. Pro Tip, if you put the passenger seat all the way forward and recline it all the way back it's a decent place to sleep in a sleeping bag.
As an American, Moss has been an AMAZING resource when finding parts for my Caterham racecar here in the states. I’ve got their stickers on my car just out of love for the company. Awesome to see them getting a feature! They’re so easy to work with, even as an international client!
Nice! Used to occasionally see Will and I believe his dad driving various Triumphs when I used to drive my green MK3 GT6 to work down in Horsham from Surbiton, mostly around the Hook area. Never spoken in person but seems like a nice guy. I never had to use Moss as the GT6 ended up being super reliable to be honest but what a place! Great to see places like this keeping our great classics on the road for years to come.
This is the most I've ever seen you guys spend on the car and the most resto! I love it. Maybe send it off to the body shop for a full prep and paint and you will have one epic show car for fun! Maybe an engine rebuild to clean that up but you have a winner here!!! Love it.

Wow, fair play, massive amount of work done by all especially Jooshy and Taylor, I used to restore classic cars so know how much work is involved and how much they cost, I hope Rory appreciates the amount of work done as if you took that to a shop you would have looking at 10 to 15k including parts, a lot of work..! 👍🏻
I absolutely enjoy Taylor explaining the mechanics behind things especially this one about end float. Perhaps some short videos on V2 where he explains things like this (5-10 minutes at a time?)

Ahhh! Makes me miss my 79’ 1500 Spit. Your right those gearbox’s are so direct, and notch free they are a pleasure. You do need little feet to drive it though - the pedals are very close together! Nice work lads. Glad you got the float overflow pipes on, fuel on the exhaust with these = a bad day. Just enjoy it! And definately don’t crash! You can get some low sports seats for these that does put you under the windscreen which is good, perhaps a rollbar as well for a bit extra protection! Loved that episode. Should I have swapped by Spitfire for an MX5 NC? Who knows…

The paint looks like a fingerless blind man sprayed it in the rain then before it dried rubbed it down with a piece of toast .... im impressed .

LOVE this one, good stuff Rory. It looks like it handles amazing, but the sound is gorgeous.
I use a couple dabs of grease to hold the cork rocker cover gasket in place during fitment.
Very enjoyable episode and great to see the Spitfire getting a bit of love. It does need a respray though. Minlites look perfect on it.
