    This video helps us look at recording guitar into GarageBand using the IK Multimedia iRig 2 on an iPad, but this would apply to an iPhone as well.
    We demo it, listen and review the Pros and Cons of the iRig 2 to help you answer the question, should you buy it?

    Nice video! Is it possible to connect the irig with your analog pedalboard and hear the effects through the computer? And to connect it to an old tube amp and then hear it on the computer (maybe it would cause damages?) ? Thank you!

    • @DarkRoastRecording
      @DarkRoastRecording  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey man, if you want to hear the pwdals, hook the guitars through your pedals, then feed the last pedal into the guitar input on the irig. to hear the amp, just plug in a cable to the 'amp' output on the irig and the 1/8" lead to the input of your audio interface. you may need a 1/8 inch to 1/4 " adapter. that won't send the amp signal to the computer but it will send the guitar and pedals.

    Hey guys, does anyone know how to convert the mono amp output at the top so it plays out of 2 speakers? I want to listen to what i’m mixing while I DJ but it only comes out of 1 speaker. Thank you!

    • @DarkRoastRecording
      @DarkRoastRecording  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey man, firstly: thanks for being here and watching. if you haven't already, please like and subscribe as I'll be doing more mobile recording videos.
      the output to amp is a mono signal only, as it's designed for amp input, which is a line mono input by design. (guitar signal). best way to monitor what is going on is to get a 1/8 " stereo to stereo RCA or 1/4" split left and right and use that to connect to the headphones output from the irig2. you can connect that to a small 4 or 8 chnl mixer like the Behringer 802 or something if you need to monitor multiple connections while DJing. they are cheap.

    • @DRymez

      @@DarkRoastRecording Hey I think I have just come to the terms that its mono haha, im going to get 2 RCA splitters at the back of my DJ Controller and use 2 RCA - AUX wires.

      Yep works fine on bass, though it takes a bit of stuffing around with the settings in Amplitube to get some decent tone. I plugged my p bass into it and used a clean input in Garage Band on my iPad to get rid of any reverb, changed the cab and head in Amplitube to suit the sound I wanted, added a noise gate pedal into the mix (as my 42 year old p bass is like a radio antenna) and it recorded pretty cleanly. I'm impressed for a device that costs almost nothing. Recording has gotten ridiculously easy and cheap.

    • @DarkRoastRecording
      @DarkRoastRecording  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      recording drums on this will be VERY difficult and not sound too good. The input on the iRig is Mono, so you will have no stereo sound which Drums really need to feel natural. I would get a cheap 2 channel interface instead if you need to record drums, like a Focusrite 2i2 or Behringer UMC2

    When using it for live streaming i.e DJ set into the phone, is it supposed to be able to live monitor from the headphone socket (from focusrite into irig2, into phone)? The one I have I can't hear anything from the headphone output live but when I play it back it's recorded the sounds etc? For now I'm planning on testing it before hand, then keeping that level on the gain and live monitoring from my focusrite soundcard for when I go live. But I'm wondering if my one is faulty or that it can't live monitor when live streaming and only live monitors via the apps? Hopefully this question makes sense. Thanks in advance.

There's a comment on that vid though that says there is a way of doing it though. Not tried this myself yet as I've only just read the comment. So far what I've been doing has worked. Oh… that’s mean Apple less latency than Samsung, right sir? I use Iphone 8+

    • @DarkRoastRecording
      @DarkRoastRecording  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@harrytran6716 yes, I have always had less latency on my iPhones than on my android devices. Apple puts a lot of research and development into their Audio processing as they have always been deeply into audio and video production. Not to say the other companies haven't, but Apple wants to be the leader there. iPhone 8 should have no problems at all.

    This doesnt work with my note 10+. I even have the terrible white apple adapter that only works if i plug it in super slowly.

      Hey there, thanks for watching the vid! I suppose you could try a different adapter, but it should work, its no different than plugging in a set of headphones with a built in mic.Also, try it with another app like Deplike or Tonebridge and see what happens

      ya it's not great, however it's not meant to produce perfect studio quality recordings, its a $40 device. It is meant to help capture ideas quickly for you to properly record later when you're producing the material.
