I was looking to get one of these for my iPad Pro and band practice. I’ve been using BIAS AMP 2 and FX 2 for my practices and it works great. Only issue is that I have to lug around my only interface which is a Roland Rubix22. The product is great but the only issue is bringing it around with me back and forth between home and band. My question is, would the iRig do a decent job for live processing? Since I’m using an amp sim for my tone I need next to no latency. I don’t care for quality so much (besides, I’m running my other interface in to my iPad at 44.1k) Hope that wasn’t too long of a comment 😆 Thanks!
No worries my man, I would say if you're going for lowest latency on an iPad, you may want to try finding the iRig HD 2 as its a USB connection instead of using the headphone jack. But really, test it out first with the irig 2 if you have it, if not go for the HD 2. I did a video demoing that as well here th-cam.com/video/js-hYkJwTq8/w-d-xo.html. That said, the irig 2 in this vid doesnt give any real latency either, on Android devices is a totally different story. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Could you also add a microphone to it if you want to sing along with your guitar playing? Or would you have to go back and do that later on a separate track? I’m looking for a device such as this where I can plug two microphones into it.
You could do separate tracks, but not 2 at once since this is only a single input. Ideally though you would want a USB interface with 2 channel inputs with phantom power option in case you need that depending on the mic you use. for best cheap interfaces, look for BandLab Link Digital or a Behringer UMC22
I haven’t finished the video but I have been having a hard time hearing myself while tracking. I can hear the other tracks but not my own, until playback. Then it shows up. Help?
Yes you can do that on your amp as well. You can use them together to get really cool sounds, experiment with it. I don’t know about Spire as i haven’t tried it yet, but i assume it will work just fine as the irig is just sending an audio signal to the app

How can I use this with my Martin, which has a piezo pickup in it? I try it through IK AmpliTube and also Garageband and run the headphone out to my Bose Color SoundLink. It is a great little speaker, but I am looking for a clean sound and there is so much distortion and gain noise. Should I connect the FX 1/4 to my Bose instead of the headphone out from the irig 2?
Try adjusting the EQ on the guitar to get rid of some noise, and then yes, try sending the sound from the 1/4" amp output to the Bose instead of the headphone jack. the headphone jack is low powered. You may still get noise, so try using an app like Deplike or Garageband and put a nisegate pedal in the chain to cut out the signal noise.
Is it possible to connect an acoustic guitar (it has a piezo pickup in it) with MacBook Pro and Boss rc-1 via iRig2...without having latency? Great video! :)

hey, thx for watching. The iRig 1 and 2 only receive a mono signal as they were meant for a single guitar input. Mono (left output) audio is only way to get a full vdrum kit through an iRig 1, 2, HD2.

+Michael Hillman thanks from r watching! please sub if you haven't already. you could do that, but your speakers would have to be powered or you would need a pre amp between the iRig and the cab to amplify the sound to the cab/speaker
I have this glitch on my iPhone where I get the full mix in my headphones but as soon as I unplug it and play it through my speaker the solo (the middle guitar) disappears. Any idea why it does that
+Gabriel Notti hey man, thanks for watching! I have not tested the HD2 model so I couldn't speak on it from my use, but I have heard it's pretty good with almost no latency, due to the on board processing. I think the android version of amplitude is only good with the UA model now, but check IK MULTIMEDIA'S site and it should say there for sure.
hi, forgive me for the trouble, I have a problem with L irig2 and GarageBand. When I connect the guitar input it doesn't work I always hear that it is recording from the smartphone's microphone. how can I solve it??
The iRig 2 is a Mono audio device, meaning it cant do stereo sound like edrum kits send audio. You could use a single audio out cable from the LEFT channel and your kit may have a setting for that, or it may default to mono (left) if you only have that cable plugged into the audio output from the drum module. the audio signal will be quieter though since the iRig 2 is expecting a HI-Z guitar signal to the input and only getting a low impedance signal from the drum module.
Hi, enjoyed the Video. Quick question... can you use the 1/4” out to Amp to feed a small powered speaker and will it match what you are hearing in the headphones. Specially if using Garage Band to practice against recorded backing tracks. For some reason the original headphone Jack on the original IRig will only power Headphones? Thanks John
That’s right. It will send the audio to anything amp or powered speaker. If you set the switch to fx, it will send what you hear headphones after being processed on the device, “thru” will send the signal before any app processing
Thanks for watching! It does have its own app only for iOS called Amplitube. There are many add-on you can get as well. that said, if you are using an iOS device, you will have Garageband on it, or you just need to download it for free from the App Store. if you are using an Android device, you could use Cubase or Bandlab on Android to record tracks.
connected the electric guitar & earphones on the same side of the irig2 and connected my ipad pro to the other end with a 3.5 to type C dongle. doesn't hear anything from the earphone. garageband recorded the outside sound not from the electric guitar. please help
I think the issues you are having is related to the dongle. It has to be an apple certified headphone dongle for it to work on the ipad pro usb c. Also, i think (read this right) you have the headphones connected to the amp output, but they should really be connected to the headphones jack same side as the 3.5mm cable going to the ipad. Hope that helps!
@@DarkRoastRecording you mean i have to connect the headphones jack to the apple certified dongle? because theres only one 3.5 jack in irig2 and thats on the same side as the guitar jack. can u also recommend an apple certified dongle, what do u use in your setup (if u have one)?
@@8regz3 sorry, i was thinking the irig hd 2, the irig 2 does have the headphones same side as guitar input. So that’s good. Yes the 3.5mm going into the ipad needs to use a certified apple 3.5mm to usb-c dongle or you will have issues
+lucifer it'll work with any DAW because it's just an analog interface. just load any audio track in your DAW and select the input you have the iRig 2 plugged into. but honestly, if you have a digital interface, there's tracking no need for the irig2 as any interface will take a line input from a guitar regardless
Hey champ, great video, very helpful. Just wondering on your opinion between the Irig 2 and the Irig hd2. Have you tried the irig HD2? Do you have a video on it? Do you think it's worth paying the difference between them? I live in Australia and with delivery, the irig HD2 model is around US$ 120 and the Irig 2 model is around US$ 70. Cheers mate, thanks for your help
I got an Irig2 yesterday and can't t get the thing to work on my galaxys10 phone I plug my guitar in and get nothing also done t care much for volume know hard to turn . Been fooling around with it for a couple hours might be sending it back I can't t get it to work.
+Alan Wilson with new phones, you'll need to use the headphone dongle to USB-C connector, but it won't work with amplitude in android. you have to use an app like "Deplike" or "tonebridge". try those and see if it works before returning it
+Miss Zoey thanks for the sub! for audio recording, it just depends on what you may be recording and what mic you have. it's good enough for any line signal like a guitar, bass, keyboard, etc. I good idea with this would be to connect the instrument to a preamp first, the the preamp to the iRig to maximise the signal quality.
My iRig 2 did not work I could not hear anything through the headphones on my iphone. Saw it was getting some type of signal from the guitar to the app but no sound bummer.
make sure you have the track set to monitor in Garageband, also make sure you are using the headphone jack on the iRig 2 to your headphones. Could you specify how you have it connected?
yes it would if you connect it to the headphone/mic 3.5mm jack. Just check your sound settings to make sure GB is taking signal from the built in mic input. Ideally, a USB interface would be better for PC or MAC usage rather than an analog device like this rig 2. if you are looking for a cheap one, check out the Behringer UMC22 or the Bandlab Link Digital interfaces.
PC doesn't like to use built in mic setting for recording. It would be best to use a USB interface like a behringer UMC22, Focusrite Scarlet Solo, or Bandlab Link Digital
(January 2022 ) Just used the iRig2 with amplitube on an iPad. Works great.

Instead of headphones could you instead plug up a speaker? Like use the IPad/MacBook as a head and a speaker as a cabinet?
+Michael Hillman thanks from r watching! please sub if you haven't already.
you could do that, but your speakers would have to be powered or you would need a pre amp between the iRig and the cab to amplify the sound to the cab/speaker
hey, does this one work on macbook air ?
I have this glitch on my iPhone where I get the full mix in my headphones but as soon as I unplug it and play it through my speaker the solo (the middle guitar) disappears. Any idea why it does that
I just got one and mine doesn’t pick up my guitar
Also I forgot to ask, do you know if the HD2 model is compatible with amplitude on Android as well as IOS? Thanks again
If its an Android phone, that may be the issue. Is it an official iRig 2 from IK multimedia or is it a clone?
please does dis irig2 work on roland td27 modul ? because is not workin on my modul i have android fone
Hi, how can I use GarageBand and I rig 2 with Zoom H6 . Please help me.
Thanks
John
That’s right. It will send the audio to anything amp or powered speaker. If you set the switch to fx, it will send what you hear headphones after being processed on the device, “thru” will send the signal before any app processing
I'm getting really bad latency with the HD2 into windows 10 recording in Bandlab ..any suggestions
Great review but i dont have the Garage Band neither Cubase ect..
Does it have its own software?
Thanks for watching! It does have its own app only for iOS called Amplitube. There are many add-on you can get as well. that said, if you are using an iOS device, you will have Garageband on it, or you just need to download it for free from the App Store. if you are using an Android device, you could use Cubase or Bandlab on Android to record tracks.
Irig2 doesn’t work well with ios 16 above. It is having a cutting sound every time i use garage band since i upgraded my phone.
connected the electric guitar & earphones on the same side of the irig2 and connected my ipad pro to the other end with a 3.5 to type C dongle.
doesn't hear anything from the earphone.
garageband recorded the outside sound not from the electric guitar.
Everything we’ve done has been thru an Irig. Guitar - pedals - peavey bass head - irig - gb
I'm thinking about getting this but not entirely sure if it'll work with my DAW, FL Studio.
+lucifer it'll work with any DAW because it's just an analog interface. just load any audio track in your DAW and select the input you have the iRig 2 plugged into. but honestly, if you have a digital interface, there's tracking no need for the irig2 as any interface will take a line input from a guitar regardless
get the irig hd 2
Hello sir, i want to buy it..but may i know if acoustic guitar with build in amp sounds good on irig2? Would you recommend?
It will work with acoustic guitars that have pickups or sound hole pickups as its just an analog audio signal path. Thanks for watching!!
How does it work to use pedals with the iRig? can I connect a distortion pedal before the iRig without burning it?
Thanks for watching! Ive done it and it didn't hurt anything, but it may depend on the type of distortion pedal you're using.
+Alan Wilson with new phones, you'll need to use the headphone dongle to USB-C connector, but it won't work with amplitude in android. you have to use an app like "Deplike" or "tonebridge". try those and see if it works before returning it
@@DarkRoastRecording im alegally blind guitarist so how tf this thing work? God is alien
Subscribed! Just wondering if it’s applicable for audio recording
Does it work with a Windows computer?
Esse dispositivo funciona bem com o Amplitube 5 no computador????????
i get horrible feedback whenever i use the modern metal effect. bow the hell do i fix it
Yeah me too. I think it is using the phones microphone instead of the guitar or irig. I don’t know how to fix jt
The metal effect amps up the gain, just add a noisegate filter in whatever guitar app you're using and adjust
@@DarkRoastRecording thank you. That was issue the monitor switch was not on.
Hi! Will this work on garageband for mac?
i hope so i’m in the same situation as you
yes it would if you connect it to the headphone/mic 3.5mm jack.
Will this work just as a mixer for guitar and my phone's music?
Is there a way to record into Audacity with PC? I've been trying but can't get it to work
PC doesn't like to use built in mic setting for recording. It would be best to use a USB interface like a behringer UMC22, Focusrite Scarlet Solo, or Bandlab Link Digital
