I'm using the 1st generation Apogee Jam with a USB C (m) to USB (f) adaptor just fine with a 2020 iPad. But for low budget fans the Behringer UCG102 will make it too, and that's only 25€ (+ the adaptor mentioned before) + both options can be connected to any device that has a USB port (like PC). JFTR :o)
I use the iRig with great success. I plug my guitar into my amp, using a microphone to capture my guitar sound that goes to my mixer then take the output of the mixer and plug it into the iRig which of course plugs into my iPad and Garageband. Simple!!!
So not much has changed for interfaces to use in the past few years as far as lightning interfaces? I just watched your amp sim video and a lot has changed since I last had an iPad. Thanks!
There are not a lot of solely lightning based interfaces around really (apart from iRig/Apogee). You’d still need Apple’s camera connector to connect a ‘proper’ audio interface.
I plug in my electro acoustic guitar to iRig but when I record on ipad [garage band] it also records surrounding sounds, people in the house talking etc., am I doing it wrong or something is wrong with gear?
I have a little problem I don't know if you can solve it. I have and iPad 8 and when I record my guitar with other tracks (let's say drums) the drums stay on the guitar track. Like it does not only record my guitar or background noises, it also records the other tracks and it's very difficult for me because I can't really keep the tempo myself without drums or metronome
Well, yeah if your speakers are audibly producing a sound while you’re recording through a microphone, then the microphone will pick up that audio too.
Great show, btw; I have something like that iRig , between the pro and the older one you showed, (maybe iRig 2, I think 🤔) But it seems to be sorta working with my iPad, My 2i2 focusrite hooked up into a powered USB hub stopped working, for whatever reason, (on iPad, it still works on my PC) but that little iRig saved the day , for now! Thanks for the info, Sir 👍🏻 👊🏻

i got an irig but when i connect my guitar to my iphone or ipad, garageband uses my default (ipad or iphone) mic instead of my guitar input, how do i fix this?? please help me
@@TheGaragebandGuide So, if you are occupying your "headphone" jack with the iRig, how are you listening to the other tracks on Garage band to play along with them?

This gonna sound stupid, but if you connect your phone to your guitar, were will be the sound from? I thought about using pedals via an app on my phone so that's why :)
Synths? ROXSYN? Isn't the electric guitar just a midi controller that creates note velocity and duration information. Like a keyboard. But on a string. You then program the synth what sound to create. And then with fx/effects you mangle that sound into the shape you want it. I chose AUM with auv3 plugins but you can use other routing hosts or designated DAWs to record.
Have a live loop drum track recorded. I tried putting my iPhone in front of my bass amp and recorded the bass track with the phones mic. Now the bass and drums are not in time even though I was playing bass in time. Anyone? Help?
I like that last musical piece you recorded with the interface at 6:37. Is that just a demo for the video or is there a song in the works with that jam?
You didn’t use an amp that has a good speaker - that little Orange amp is going to have no low end so yes the tone will be weak when mic recorded. The iPhone mic is actually phenomenal. Also, mic position is imperative for tone.

Was wondering if I could use a dongle
For the old school headphone Jack, just get an Apple Lightning 3.5 Headphone adapter to plug the irig plug in
I didn’t know they had an eye rig that plugs into your charger port !! Thanks dude !
Can u update this for USB-C? I have the newest iphone and want to connect instrument

I’m awaiting delivery of a Spark Go which has audio interface capabilities. I’m curious if this would work with my iPhone 🤔
Seems insane we can do this nowadays. I was looking at buying a 4 track Tascam or something but why bother when you have Garage Band and an iPhone.

Now that the type -C port is here, all the issues with the lightning port not providing enough power to the interface are gone.
How do i record?? Mine only gets the sound from the earbud mic

So if I just want to record guitar via Scarlet, the Apple Adapter is enoght to catch the audio? or the external power is required?
I believe the external power is required

I’m not sure honestly. As long as the adapter allows data pass through and isn’t just a headphone dongle then I don’t see why not?

when i use my iRig into the Amp instrument on garageband it uses the phone microphone & makes it sound terrible, is there a way around this?
Can we connect a sound card?
When you say iPhone, is that a generic term, or do you mean only iPhone, and not Android at all ?
iPhone, as in the mobile phone that Apple makes.
@@TheGaragebandGuide Oh I know, I just have an Android, so I guess this won't work :(
Curious, do you use a wireless set of headphones when hooking into these?
No, I wouldn’t recommend using Bluetooth headphones to record with. Latency is still a big problem with wireless.
