  • This is three scenario on how to put a dowel pin on a b20 block. Dowel pin from the intake side ( drill the head and make wider), dowel pin from the exhaust side (Ls vtec step down dowel pin, golden eagle gasket or make a bigger hole in the stock gasket), no dowel pin (have performance head stud and torque down at 80lb). On video, "I HAD PUT GASKET WRONG WAY" (using as example). For b20 vtec oil you can use sandwich plate on oil filter, or buy a t fitting and tapped the oils pressure sensor. Block oil return hole on head by treading and adding a small plug. The oil line has to be tapped from the intake side for oil to feed into sandwich or t fitting. If using Stock b20 timing belt leave stock Ls or b20 water pump. If using gsr timing belt used 22 teeth gsr water pump. You can use b20 distributer if you chop off one leg that is into the way of vtec solenoid (one bolt on top and the other bolt

    Works fine. Done it with at least 6 cars lsv b16a b20v gsr and ran a few of them on boost 10-18psi never had a problem with the head walking. Shit some vws dont even call for dowel pins lol.

  • @justiceofthesun7303
    @justiceofthesun7303 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Okay so the dowell pins are definitely needed. Otherwise no matter how much you torque the head it will walk without these pins. They serve a purpose besides just alingment. It keeps the head aligned saving your fasteners and whatever else will come from a head shifting and shearing head studs.

    Two options here, open the intake side guide dowells to 9/16 or option 2, use a cometic gasket

    I have a b20 vtec setup. B16 head b20b block. Do I need to use dowel pin if I am running ARP headstuds? Or I can ran without dowel pin. Also will it be safe or ok to run without dowel pin if I were to install cams and upgrade valve trains and tuning?

    The last few vtec heads I've owned have not needed dowels at all and were never machined or drilled. Dowell conspiracy!

    I've used an one b16 gasket, a golden eagle ls vtec gasket, and now a je pro seal b16 head gasket. They all cause coolant burning on the timing belt side between the block and head. Block is decked and resurfacing the head 2 times now. Using arp head studs as well. Should I try an ls non vtec gasket?

    • @hellastanceLLC

      Pedro Rivera can be a couple factors. Block or head need to be resurface, the oil drain like us not the same size, gasket, and head stud use performance

    If they don't put those that down dowel pins in you going to have blow by on your head I'm going to be compressed air or air fuel mixture will go into your radiator or your coolant system as well as your oil and you will be burning oil in that same way due to the fact that had is not properly aligned this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
