It's funny how almost all the owners of these cars claim they really love Panteras, yet they replace most of the car with aftermarket stuff. Even Jay Leno was on that bandwagon about his Pantera on his Garage episode on the car, while his guest was politely trying to explain to him that no, they really are good cars.

Replacing suspension, wheels, tires, better heads and intake or a Coyote swap or something, cool, but I would never, ever, graft different car model front clips or change the body to something else like this, this is entirely too far for me.... the Detomaso Pantera, especially the "narrow body" ones, are absolutely perfect the way they look already, they were, and still are one of the most gorgeous designed cars ever produced, this is crazy to me, but hey, it's not my car, it pains me, but it's not mine so all I have is my opinion 🤷‍♂️

Imo there's 2 camps. I won't buy a new ferrari but I'd rip the shit out of a 288 gto, but that car stays bone stock for being the 250 successor and just an all around killer car.
At the same time cubic inches and torque murder in American v8s. I'd have a pantera with a monster small block and modernized 40 years like my other grocery getter....a 69 continental body mounted on a new amg s63.

Although some design choices like the belts inches away from your arm are kinda nuts this is still well done. Hopefully we get to see more cars like this.

I've seen this car and it is, indeed, striking. I've owned my '72 Pantera for almost 25 years. And finally after many years of sorting out all of the bugs, I drive it every week. Picking it up today from having all new gauges installed that will finally light up enough for me to see at night, very excited. When I redid the entire interior in leather including dash, seats, and firewall, I installed C-4 Corvette seats that we custom built to have more bolstering and comfort, and they're just great! My exhaust also sounds to me to be quite a bit louder but that may just be the video's recording. These cars have a timeless design as few people believe my car is over 50 years old.
    Great story and video.

I doubt you remember me but I was the guy over the years who talked about rebuilding his late grandfather's 65 mustang coupe and I haven't tuned in to the show for some time and this was an episode that inspired me to finish that build even more. Sadly with the funds, and living situation that car will never see the road again but one can hope to see their car or in my case, my late grandfather's car on here one day. That car was my grandparents first car together and my dad took my mom out on their first date in that car but I never got to see it run. I tore it apart and got some body work done to it and the interior stored away but had to stop there. My pops lost the motor and trans a long time ago in a weird situation, but I hope to one day at least see a 302 or coyote in it and close to original with some small personal touches

Didn’t hear what year Pantera the car is? One thing about Panteras is that no two builds are the same!
I got to drive a friends first model year 1972 Pantera back in the mid 70’s. The ‘72 was the only year with the high revving Boss 351 engine. Subsequent model years had the more basic Cleveland 4bbl small block until around 1980ish when the US supply of Clevelands ran dry forcing De Tomaso to switch to the 351 Windsor. The ‘72 also had a much stiffer solid mounted chassis and suspension than later years. It was quite a car although the ergonomics were not very good for my 6’2” frame. 😉
It’s a cool build but I am not real crazy about the long stroke, high torque 454 Clevor in this kind of car. I personally would have preferred a shorter stroke, higher revving Cleveland/Clevor small block but that’s just me.

That is truly incredible, TOTALLY insane, that sound, how planted it looks when it takes off and the combo between the GT and Pantera. I saw the Ring Brothers car at SEMA a couple of years back but this has it all over that one !!!

This is the best Pantera custom I’ve ever seen

Live the idea behind your custom Tony. Did a great job putting GT panels on the Pantera chassis. You really did a great job mating the two, great build!

That's a really interesting sound - you can hear the intake sounds of a 90° crank V8, but the exhaust sounds of a 180° crank.

Gotta admit dude; when I first started watching this, I was thinking "Not really my style." But the more I watched it, the more I liked it, from the roll-cage to the seats on the floor, right down to the shocks on the exhaust pipes. You called it; the car had to be built just right & this sure as hell was!

What an incredible build. And the exhaust "hangers" shocks are something I've never seen before, very cool and tastefully done along with the 180-degree headers Awesome just awesome and the sounds it makes are music to my ears.
