  • In this video I show you how to vent your 1.0 tires on the Axial Scx24. I like to vent my tall tires to make the best use of them and to avoid flat spots from prolonged shelf dwelling. I'll demonstrate how to vent a tire and explain the pros and cons of doing so. Enjoy!

    I vented with a small pair of diagonal cutters. I just pinched the tire and made two small snips and the holes look great and round. It really helped the tires conform to obstacles.

      @@user-ji8ls9dr9fyou shouldn’t take vented tires through water. The foams will soak up the water and deteriorate the foam not to mention it likely wouldn’t perform the same with the additional weight.

    cut your foams in a star pattern , with stiffer springs in rear will climb much better , also wrap inside of rim with small strip off pantyhose and spray with 3m scotchguard it'll let air in &out but the scotchguard will keep out the water !!!

    Ive been curious in trying a new method so you dont have holes. Use a smaller foam insert, compress tires with a hose clamp or rubber bands on your beadlock, tighten beadlock, release tension on tire. This would create negative pressure and add squishyness

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. You dont just end up with flat spots on the tire?

    • @CNScale
      @CNScale ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what im curious about, havent put it to practice yet. You could possibly use a clamp with a polystyrene sheet to even the pressure so as not to concave the tire. It would be a fine line to make it work correctly

    I’m currently experimenting with venting too! Great timing.
    Question- have you tried venting on the inside sidewall of a tire, between the tread and wheel? Would love to see you cover that. Same ability to displace air, out of the direct path of small water, sand, mud, and can be plugged trivially with a piece of tape on the side if you know you’ll be driving somewhere messy.
    Thoughts?

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's a great suggestion and I think I may try that on my next set of tires to do a comparison. It makes good sense logically; the hole would not have direct exposure to the elements unless you submerged/buried it. And the hole wouldn't be big enough to compromise sidewall strength. I'll give it a shot next time!
