Personally I prefer to hunt solo as the palico/palamute get aggro sometimes, but as for the demo there is no reason I would ever bring palicos, if I'm bringing them it will be 2 doggos

Same I treated World Hunter and Cat duo as the grandchildren of the hunter and cat from freedom unite. Ace Cadet being in world kind of ruined the head canon though but everything turned out fine.
Mine was Catnip Dealer In World/Iceborne In Rise I made it like the Catnip name was passed down to the next generation so Catnip Dealer 2 Then I got crazy with the buddies All my cats have Catnip but it would be like a drug reference or something. Like CatnipAbuser, Catnip Partaker, CatnipCorruptDEA you get the idea. My Palamutes I started naming them after Rappers If you see a Palamute named 50 cent or Mack Morrison congrats you found me.

Also tools had infinite durability when that wasn't standard. Basically: It was just objectively better to play as a palico, it was easy mode, and I absued the ever loving hell out of it. Reminder that palico weapons and armor cost effectively nothing, yet do compareable damage/defense to their human counterparts.
