    Nice restoration. I doubt I would have put that much work in such an inexpensive, moderate quality tool. However, it does make me want to do more restoration work.

    This drill press was and is made in China and sold in many countries with different brands. I also have one of these, bought new, but you have to modify it quite a bit.

    Very good job. Liked the colors. I have one that is that rusty. I got it at a auction very cheap so I can put time and a little money into it. Hope I can get it as good as yours. Need a suggestion it is also a table top like yours. Thought I might convert it to a stand alone. Add a longer pipe. But not sure if that is a good idea. What do you think? I read some of the comments and you said you were having trouble getting parts because of covid. Just curious where do you live? Stay safe from covid and have fun with all your projects. Thanks

      You should upgrade the pipe to be taller and longer. It will be very convenient to use together with eto ( VISE ). Here I used the original tube and is 70cm tall. The working space when the 13mm drill is installed is ~15cm. It's really confusing. If the materials are available, upgrading the pipeline is the best thing.

      Where I live is Vietnam, a very beautiful and friendly country with all friends in the world. Until covid 19, we all voluntarily follow the direction of the government such as staying at people's houses, not holding events, opening for tourism .... In which traffic is also limited.

    it resulted bad because you didn't put muriatic acid first before you tried to fill it with solder. anyway nice job!!

    I'm only guessing here but when you prepared your solution for electrolyte rust removal it seems like you put two different chemicals in the water that neutralize each other and make a weaker electrolyte than just the one. As you add the powder and it bubbles up before the electricity is on. That means the two substances are canceling one another until the weaker one is consumed. Maybe I misunderstand what I saw. If so I apologize.

    • @drscraps
      @drscraps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use toilet bowl cleaner in combination with baking soda. To be honest, I don't understand much chemistry and I did it unprofessionally as you can see.

    • @puirYorick
      @puirYorick 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drscraps Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, has a pH of 9, making it a mildly alkaline substance. Toilet bowl cleaners could be either acidic or alkaline with pure water being exactly 7 or neutral.
      By mixing the two, you either made an already alkaline cleaner slightly less powerful by adding a weaker alkaline baking soda to it OR you made an acidic cleaner become more neutral by canceling some of it with that alkaline baking soda. The foaming suggests that it was the second case.
      I'm happy that you are open to learning and researching practical knowledge. Be safe. Mixing common household cleaners can create deadly fumes. I won't mention a famous example in case some kids read this and are unsupervised but please research first and use a well-vented workspace when mixing. NOT mixing is your better option.
      A search engine can direct you to a reputable site with a good method for electric rust removal but beware that bad advice is also out there.

    Why didn't you put the other pulley with three levels, for speed changes?

    • @drscraps
      @drscraps  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The current covid 19 epidemic in my area is very complicated. Traveling or buying things online is very difficult. All I do is just recycle old stuff. I made my own wooden pulley with 3 levels but the conveyor belt is very poor but still have to use. Hii
