Helped me immensely - W169 with wobbly bearings - but.....CV joint axle fused into hub through the steering knuckle. Hub puller would not shift it on the car. Your video showed me how I could extract the whole hub/knuckle/CV joint assembly and take it to the local garage. Even they couldn't get it separated so wreckers for hub/knuckle and new CV joint kit has me sorted.
Love the Zip Tie for the circlip compression - a real mechanics "how to" made it much easier.

Brilliant video. No bits cut. Very clear. No annoying music. Good man.
My joint is knackered. Tempted to just put in whole new axle. Would that be easier?
But you’ve made this joint replacement look pretty easy so maybe I’ll just do that.

or use the screwdriver to pry the dent in the nut outward. So less resistance to remove.
you can use it max 2 times as every time you need to put a dent in it.

@@roborich1 No, I've done this before, if you don't use the zip tie then the spring clip gets pushed past the groove and binds up, gets damaged on the splines instead of compressing and allowing the CV joint to go over it. You have to zip tie the spring clip closed, then use the CV joint to push the zip tie off as it slides over the spring clip. The zip tie is a life saver, I almost had a nightmare of a day until my cousin looked on TH-cam and found the zip tie trick.

    Hi,
I have A170 W169 2006, and since 15000 kms ago I started hearing clunk noise when driving over speed bumps (despite of speed). In the beginning it was only in the moment when I am getting off the bump but now it appears immediately when tyre hit the bump.
One mechanic said front shock absorber is rusty and it comes frome there. The other one was not sure. I don’t want to invest hell of money and not being sure for the reason.
It is somehow metal noise coming from the front.
I can also hear it sometimes when steering at low speeds and very rare when braking. These two started appearing recently.
It has 215000km and shock absorbers were never replaced
    Thank you
