If you haven’t seen them, The Bourne trilogy movies with Matt Damon are incredible - The Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, and Bourne Ultimatum. There are others added on because of the popularity of these movies, but they pale in comparison. The original trilogy is from the great books by Robert Ludlum.
For Liam Neeson, it was a risky role (fortunately, the film broke the box office and paid off the budget) but at the same time, he had decent baggage behind his back - he worked as a teacher, was engaged in boxing (because of this, by the way, he has such a nose) and fortune smiled on him. At that time, I didn't know anything about movies because I didn't listen to other people's opinions and reviews + I didn't have a home Internet with the exception of Opera 6 on Sony Erickson, and this film didn't let me down and became a favorite action movie for all time on a par with Skyfall and Jack Reacher, and occasionally I review it.
This is such a good movie, it highlighted human trafficking without being too graphic and implicit. Everyone should watch this movie before they go solo travelling. It might sound terrible, but being "nice" can make you a target for scammers and other I am not a fan of the sequels. This is best as a standalone. I am so happy you watched it.
I feel bad for her too. And I don't mean to victim-blame here, but at the same time, Amanda blindly trusting a guy she and Kim just met and kind of forcing Kim into it made the following events her fault in a way.
@@xenablossom4682 her naivety played a part in their situations but remember she’s 19. She’s still technically a teenager so not really her fault. These kinds of organizations shouldn’t even exist.
@@SusanaCanales1 Which is why Brian Mills was understandably worried about his daughter traveling all around Europe "without adult supervision". Kinda wish the mom wasn't so dismissive and maybe Brian could've briefed Kim on what things she should be wary of when traveling. Like being too friendly with strangers and sharing too much personal information is definitely a no-no.
This is one of my dad's top favorites. As someone who is just as "old school" at the age of 23, you are definitely not an old man for agreeing with the pops. As a young girl growing up who's father was just as protective I can tell you I would have done the things you mentioned during "Peter's" introduction just to be cautious, especially overseas. Maybe that's just a result of watching way too many crime shows combined with having veterans/law enforcement for parents but one can never be to careful. Now that I'm older, I kinda laugh at the fact that the daughter got so excited over going to Paris. I even heard of French people living outside of Paris putting down the idea of visiting the city due to how bad the violence and crime is.
Great reaction, y'all were really immersed in movie ! The great thing about this movie is that even though it's mainly action there was a thriller vibe and tension throughout that made you feel the stakes, and it was done very well. Also the fact that Liam Neeson isn't juyts constantly beating everyone senseless and uses tactics like when he put the Mike on the guy or when he investigates. Also the actress who played the daughter, Maggie Grace, was still young but she was already acting great.
I remember hearing somewhere a quote from a pimp, the gist of which was that sex trafficking was better than other types of illegal gain because you could beat the women, and they do what you want :(
I like the editing on this. The style appeals to me, and feels a little frenetic or ad hoc, which is basically where the character is, everything about tracking down his daughter is ad hoc. We hear a reference, see a blurry crooked shot, that suddenly comes into clear focus, as in the red door. It mirrors exactly how the character is following the trail.
When it comes to pre John Wick action movies that stay more grounded rather than falling into over the top cheese, the only ones I can think of are this, Man on Fire and the Bourne films.
I remember seeing this in theaters, was so....taken....with it. The other Takens are fun but kinda repetitive. You guys should react to Edge of Darkeness, similar movie with Mel Gibson. Red Sparrow is a great thriller you can't miss
An action movie way before Taken where the hero also goes all out to protect his family is Face/Off(1997) starring Nic Cage and John Travolta and directed by John Woo. John Woo's style is famous for gun-fu action scenes with a lot of shots with doves, slow mos and somersaults. I feel like you guys would very much enjoy the character interactions there. It's also one of the best action films leading up to the year 2000. There's a lot of campiness with the acting that not many movies get away with but it gets a pass here, actually it's very necessary because of the theme, and the two leads absolutely deliver on their roles.
I like to call the genre the "reverse slasher," where the good guy is the one that just shows up out of nowhere, going around killing all the goons like Michael Meyers kills teens. Die Hard, and John Wick are also examples.
I'm glad you guys reacted to this one. I remember watching this movie when I was about 17 and as a young girl it really opened my eyes to the cold, grotesque world out there I was oblivious to. Whenever I remember this movie, I think about how this is the reality for so many families out there. May God help them, and God protect us all, Ameen. Love your channel, guys. Keep it up, James and Nobu! ❤️
Great movie. Other great movies like that are Equalizer with Denzel Washington and the first Bourne Identity movie. Other great Liam Nisson movies are Rob Roy 1995 and Darkman 1990 which is an original superhero movie Sam Ramie made before he got the rights to do the Spiderman movies. Another great movie like this is the first Jack Reacher (Which has a great Amazon series named Reacher)
Dude, don't send them to Rob Roy. That's just painful. Like, beginning to end. Every time I watched it...just yesus, what more...oh, why they bad guys are going to torture, assault the family, etc. And it's 3 hours of the horrors that happened to him. I mean, the story is important. But ffs, its just hurt, hurt, hurt some more, and when that family is as broken as possible, why, more assault. And then, finally, back together...but they are never going to deal with their traumas. Nope. I have watched it 3 times and each time, where is the heroic resolution? It's a true story and that carries its own weight but I'm serious. For all the good in a movie that is telling about this man who keeps overcoming all the weight of his world, there's only more planets added to his shoulders, never a real time when he had it lightened. Don't do that to them, don't do that to anyone. It's not a bad movie. It's great in its own way but it hurts your heart, your mind, your soul, and never gives you a balm or bandaid except for like 10 minutes at the end. That is mean, man. But everything else Neeson, I get behind. I tell everyone to watch "Nell" because I think it's sad and beautiful at the same time. Now more sad because it's the movie where he fell in love with his wife, who died. I find it an interesting study of hermits. Extremely sad, but extremely uplifting in the end.
aww you guys got the dumbed down version. In the original version when he's torturing the guy, he rams 2 metal rods into his knee caps and then attaches the electrical wires.
As a parent of a young woman, 17 is too young if you have not travelled much. However, my daughter was 22 when she went to India by herself for a year.

The ONE problem that I had with this movie is that her "friend" was completly forgotten about. (And at 42:36, a correction to your analysis, Dad saved his own daughter not the step-dad's daughter)
Amanda was the Step-fathers Daughter!? So she was Kims stepsister? I must have missed that part of the story when I watched the Whole movie years ago. And I agree that his Ex-wife was rather rude to him and not concerned about her 17 year old Daughter traveling around Europe, just her and Amanda! Seriously!? What a horrible lesson for her and a Terrible lesson for Kim. Dad got the respect in the end though.
I read a review once for Taken 2, that said "People have always respected Liam Neeson, but it wasn’t until Taken that people really RESPECTED Liam Neeson, as in you wouldn’t EVER spill this man’s drink!" 👊

Liam Neeson was an Irishman who was an ex-boxer. Went on to become helluva actor and also an Oscar nominee (Best Actor in Schindler's List, 1993). 20 years plus into his career, this franchise made him the new thinking man's action hero. The phone call scene is unforgettable and major selling point of the movie in it's first trailer. Part 2 is great. Part 3 is decisive for not being a good finale. A prequel tv series to the first film ran for 2 seasons. The creators of TAKEN are Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, Leon The Professional) & Robert Mark Kamen (The original Karate Kid films, 1984-94). Liam did dramatic comedic and sci-fi/fantasy roles and he was damn good at them. Then, his wife Natasha Henstrich died via head injury during a skiing trip. He went dark for a few years, completely disappeared....and then he returned to the film industry with Taken. He's been reborn as an action/thriller star ever since.

You guys need to watch John Woo's movie Hard Boiled. It's possibly the most insane gun choreography every filmed. It puts John Wick to shame, although Wick is obviously a nod to John Woo's Hong Kong films. The film is early 90's to the core, and the score will be hilarious today, but the action will leave your jaw open. It's so over the top, and it will make you wonder how they shot it.

This movie is like Liam's audition for playing James Bond..apparently he was pretty close to actually becoming Bond, obviously a few years ago now.. great reaction as always guys ,until the next one have a great week 🇬🇧👍
Really? That woulda been wild!!!
Liam Neeson played so many of my favorite people in movies he played Aslan in Narnia he played in taken and many more I just love him
The movie that forced the French Government to contact the US State Department and made them issue a statement about how safe it was to travel to Paris.😂
Is that for real?
lol
If you haven’t seen them, The Bourne trilogy movies with Matt Damon are incredible - The Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, and Bourne Ultimatum. There are others added on because of the popularity of these movies, but they pale in comparison. The original trilogy is from the great books by Robert Ludlum.
Great movies :D
I hope they consider reacting to the originaly Bourne trilogy
Up
For Liam Neeson, it was a risky role (fortunately, the film broke the box office and paid off the budget) but at the same time, he had decent baggage behind his back - he worked as a teacher, was engaged in boxing (because of this, by the way, he has such a nose) and fortune smiled on him.
*MAN ON FIRE!!!* The one with Denzel Washington.... That is a man on a similar mission. Great movie as well.
This is such a good movie, it highlighted human trafficking without being too graphic and implicit. Everyone should watch this movie before they go solo travelling. It might sound terrible, but being "nice" can make you a target for scammers and other
I am not a fan of the sequels. This is best as a standalone.
I am so happy you watched it.
Who else feels bad for Amanda? Must’ve been a terrible way to go out.
Yeah that’s horrible
@@SusanaCanales1 I’m 19 too and i know not to trust a random guy i just met😂 we 19 year olds are not dumb but I understand your point
This is one of my very favorite movies. So stoked to see this reaction!!
Thanks :)
I remember hearing somewhere a quote from a pimp, the gist of which was that sex trafficking was better than other types of illegal gain because you could beat the women, and they do what you want :(
I love that he never fully lost his accent 😊 also love how you guys get so into these films and often speak from the perspective of the character
Such a good movie. Taken 2 is JUST as good. Which isn’t usual for sequels. But it’s epic. I think you will love it
Agreed- sequel very good, however the 3rd one was bland.
"He's a legend in a job he doesn't even have!" Perfect, lol!
Right??
ty Ty TY! I follow over a dozen movie reactors and you are the first to react to Taken (my favorite action movie and trilogy).
Octokrool also reacted to it :)
Face/Off is an excellent movie!
I can't remember if yall already did this one, but the A-Team is a lot of fun and also has Liam in it!
I like to call the genre the "reverse slasher," where the good guy is the one that just shows up out of nowhere, going around killing all the goons like Michael Meyers kills teens. Die Hard, and John Wick are also examples.
Yeah I love that
You guys are going for some killer movies lately and i'm all up for it. Thanks for the content and keep up the good work :)
Thanks man!!
I still remember when I first saw Liam Neeson in Excalibur and Krull. The parts I always remember him in the most though are High Spirits and Rob Roy.
I call this movie "Liam Neeson and the killer throat chop"
Great movie. Other great movies like that are Equalizer with Denzel Washington and the first Bourne Identity movie. Other great Liam Nisson movies are Rob Roy 1995 and Darkman 1990 which is an original superhero movie Sam Ramie made before he got the rights to do the Spiderman movies. Another great movie like this is the first Jack Reacher (Which has a great Amazon series named Reacher)
Oh yes the Bourne movies are great too!!!
@@andidreyes5323 I don't know what you are talking about. It is a great movie.
@@totomomo18 Sure.
aww you guys got the dumbed down version. In the original version when he's torturing the guy, he rams 2 metal rods into his knee caps and then attaches the electrical wires.
As a parent of a young woman, 17 is too young if you have not travelled much. However, my daughter was 22 when she went to India by herself for a year.
I'm 30 now and I still don't feel comfortable traveling alone to other countries. It's common sense to be wary.
I absolutely love this movie! I watched it on repeat when it first came out. Great reaction, guys! Other one man army movies to consider watching are; Man on Fire, The Transporter, Soldier, Atomic Blonde, Rambo franchise, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass, Mad Max Franchise, Pitch Black, Desperado, Dredd, Crank, The Punisher Franchise, Ong Bak, The Protector..
Hell yesss. This is what I wanted
"You have an overly shinning forehead like come on"💀😂🤣
I read a review once for Taken 2, that said "People have always respected Liam Neeson, but it wasn’t until Taken that people really RESPECTED Liam Neeson, as in you wouldn’t EVER spill this man’s drink!" 👊
This is exactly the kind of movie they are talking about when they say edge of your seat. My ass was clenched the entire last 40min of this movie 😂 So good.
welp the daughters never traveling again. I wouldn't
Taken was a new type of action film. Instead of a martial artist or bodybuilder, they cast an actor in the lead role.
I think y’all would enjoy Shooter (Mark Wahlburg) and the Accountant (Ben Afflack)
I was a teenager late 80’s/early 90’s and Steven Seagal and Jean Claude Van Damme were the pinnacle of one man ass kicking then. I think you two might enjoy some of those movies. Glad you reacted to this it was fun 😊
I would also add to this the Holy Trinity of Action at the time : Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis.
Thanks for the reaction. Excellent!
I hope you watch the other two. Would love to see what you think about them compared to the first one.
Thanks, guys! No one's done this one. Hadn't seen it in years. Really enjoyed.
"The Witch: Part 1: The Subversion" (2018) - Action, Thriller, Mystery, Supernatural
I didn’t know there was like censored version where he Dosent stab the screws into the duded legs and doesn’t unload his gun in the dude in the elevator and doesn’t show him shooting buddy in the face when he was fight all those people lol
That’s lame
They wrote many other incredible, gems together:
Kiss of The Dragon (2001), The Transporter films with Jason Statham (2002-2008), Unleashed (2005) and Columbiana (2011).
So you got to watch all of these if you can.
I really liked the prequel series and wish it ran longer
Another movie to consider is Ransom from 1996 starting Mel Gibson and Gary Sinise. Criminally underrated
The equalizer was pretty awesome, worth a watch. Earlier action movies with a similar feel are the Bourne movies. Luc Besson is a great film guy, he also wrote the Transporter movies
i love the other Taken movies this one is my favorite. Others : Lethal Weapon movies, Die Hard movies, Face Off, Law Abiding Citizen, Man on Fire, Man apart, Double jeopardy, Kiss the Girls, Along came a spider, Roadhouse, When a stranger calls, Joy Ride, The Glass House, Twister, A day after tomorrow, Street Kings, Point Break, Under Siege, Dante's Peak, Speed, The Fugitive, In the line of fire, the bone collector, a time to kill, the bodyguard, 48 hrs. , etc
DIE HARD AND THE BOURNE IDENTITY. PLEASE. SUCH WONDERFUL ACTION MOVIES
Edit: ALSO THE ACCOUNTANT. INCREDIBLE.
Lol
Liam did dramatic comedic and sci-fi/fantasy roles and he was damn good at them. Then, his wife Natasha Henstrich died via head injury during a skiing trip. He went dark for a few years, completely disappeared....and then he returned to the film industry with Taken. He's been reborn as an action/thriller star ever since.
Natasha Richardson was his wife, and she died a year after Taken was released. Taken 2008, Natasha 2009.
His wife died a year after Taken and he didn’t disappear. He continued to make movies that came out shortly after she had died.
First this is the safe version, in the interrogation he drove nails into Marco's legs then connected cables to them.
Second, you need to watch shooter and the accountant.
My bad!!! It was the YT version!!
@@whitenoisereacts yt version is a good excuse lol
You guys should check out Payback with Mel Gibson, if you like the one man army, revenge type of movie. It's even earlier than Taken, and Mel doesn't really have a particular set of skills, he's just a badass.
19:50 Hah ha, lol, GOAT commentary - he must have been!
Thanks for taking mine and others' recommendation :) this is a great trilogy. ♥
The mother’s actress name Is Famke Janssen a Dutch Actress and yes 👍 she played Jean Grey in the original X-men trilogy until she got replaced by another actress Rebecca Romijn Stamos and yes she’s married to John Stamos yes uncle Jessie from full house 🏠!
Guys i watch you two from Italy! Ciao siete fantastici!
While you're on the action train and have gotten to series. You should check out the 2004 Punisher film (and the 'punisher: dirty laundry' short that followed) if you havent seen it. Think you would enjoy
I liked this Taken. Liam Neeson is brilliant.
* For me, best action movie, of all time, has to be the Bourne series. Love Matt Damon love the soundtrack!
* love Kate Beckinsale in some of the Underworld series, lots of great fight scenes
* V for Vendetta is an underrated piece of art in my opinion. Nice action scenes.
* Elektra, Jennifer Garner. Brilliant fight scenes.
liam neeson really is the goat
A favorite Liam movie of mine is a comedy/action called Gun Shy with Sandra Bullock and Oliver Plath.
I REALLY ENJOYED TAKEN AND ENJOYED THE STORY WHERE WE GET TO SEE BRYAN MILLS( PLAYED BY LIAM NESSON) DO SOME REALLY GOOD ACTION ESPECIALLY FOR A MAN HIS AGE👏👏. LOVED THE EMOTION WHERE WE GET TO SEE BRYANS RELATION/CONNECTION WITH HIS FAMILY, ESPECIALLY HIS DAUGHTER🥲. THE ACTION SEQUENCES WERE NOT UP TO THE MARK IF YOU WATCH IT NOW BUT FOR THAT TIME IT WAS ACCEPTABLE IN A WAY👍. BUT ITS A FUN AND ENTERTAINING MOVIE🔥
I miss liam as a dramatic actor
You guys have to see Prey, the Predator movie that just came out!
I only knew what was going to happen in the film as this was a eppisode on family guy where Meg got taken and Stewart and Brian rescue her 😂🤣😂🤣😂
15:43 = I have to say, it feels kind of weird seeing people react to that monologue for the first time. I remember when this movie first came out, that monologue seemed to be everywhere.
15:44- that's Liam Neeson's famous line. 😁
Never mess with Liam Neeson or his family!
my sister was going to paris on a school trip so she was watching it but for some reason mum also made me watch. I WAS 12!!! i started crying and didn’t want my sister to go to paris 😭😭
11:04 I’m 21 and I’m from Ireland so I have a reasonable understanding of European culture and dangerous things and people to be aware of, and yet i still would not go with one friend on a trip like that. I'd have at least 3 other friends with me and i'd try and have at least one of my guy friends with me because as sad as it is, having a guy with you does make you safer
This was the OG John Wick
🖖
Liam Neeson's team couldn't work with him fully , because they're not retired. They still work for agency. They couldn't go rogue , and go do some secret mission without their knowledge
Parts 2 and 3 were also good for me although some people didn't like them as much. Other movies similar to this one are "Jack Reacher" (Part 1 & 2)(Tom Cruise), "The Long Kiss Goodnight" (Geena Davis & Samuel L. Jackson) and the "John Wick" series (Keanu Reeves). Of course if you just like the ass kicking parts "The Transporter" (Jason Statham) movies (4 of them) are the ones to watch.
we need battle royales of:
male characters:
John Wick (Keenu Reeves)
Taken (Liam Neeson)
The Accountant (Ben Affleck)
Man On Fire (Danzel Washington)
The Equalizer (Danzel Washington)
The Transporter (Jason Statham)
female characters:
Salt (Angelina Jolie)
Colombiana (Zoe Saldana)
Atomic Blonde (Charlize Theron)
anyone else I'm missing?
who would win?

Campy but action fun Ninja Turtles 1-2 90's
And Death Sentence (2007)
Honestly, after finding out she and the mother straight lied about all the places she was going all pity left me. Kind of deserves what she gets.
All 3 Taken movies are well worth a watch imo
This is always such a good movie! The sequels are fun too! At least the ones I saw I forgot how many there were.
A couple of things never addressed in the movie... 1. The death of her friend. 2. The potential ptsd from being kidnapped. 3. Any consequences from shooting up Paris and all the killing.
