THE EQUALIZER was a TV show back in the 80's, and Denzel did this part proper. He has all of McCall's mannerisms, calm demeanor, cunning and brutality. McCall's deal is you don't strike if you don't have to, attempt to defuse every situation, but when you do have to attack, ensure that it's fierce, hard, and sure. Don't prolong suffering, if you do, you're as bad as the assholes you're fighting. LOVE Denzel's part!
@@octavius8562 They changed a few things, but what they changed made the character better. Example, TV version had him living that Penthouse life, I like the Home Depot "everyman" version better.
The TV show was great. Edward Woodward looked and talked like a bank manager, but he could switch on the scary incredibly well. As was already said, that was the Equalizer's stock in trade - rather than pass judgement, he would start with a conciliatory approach, with a mutually acceptable outcome. Which the bad guys almost never took to their detriment - because his NEXT move was to take them down by systematically and precisely hitting ALL of their weak points.. Denzel Washington is very different to Edward Woodward in every way possible, but he still does this role brilliantly.
Sorry this will be long... The stopwatch thing is not abouts being cocky. He has ocd. It's a ritual he follows because the ocd makes him do that. You can see another example of that when he went to leave (before the fight) and he open and closed the door several times before locking it. Ocd tends to be triggered in times of stress or anxiety and that was what you were seeing.
I never took it as ocd. I knew his backstory was military/intelligence-agency experience. I always thought him using the watch to time himself was like a “tactical reflex”. The same way when the military conducts operations/missions they have to keep on an “exact schedule”. You know “synchronize watches”.
@@Jpew2007 It's OCD but also him checking if he's still as quick as he used to be - he definitely has OCD, with the door and doorknob thing, the compulsive counting, arranging his cutlery when eating, stuff like that.

Great reaction and great movie. Denzel is my favorite actor, anything he's in is serious gold. Y'all should check out RED if you haven't, even if you just watch it on your own time. Its awesome action with a little comedy thrown in. Some of the parts of Denzel alone in his apartment from this movie remind me of scenes in RED.
I've always loved these lone-wolf vigilante stories, and this is one of my favorites, as was the 1980's tv series it's based on. Very American; the system sometimes lets you down and when that happens you need a McCall to help you out. But lately I'm seeing too many real-life vigilantes, too many people who don't believe in the system, to be completely comfortable with these stories.

hey guys another great video, for another action movie I would definitely recommend 'Nobody', quite new with Bob Odenkirk (Saul from Breaking bad and Better call Saul) and even Christopher Lloyd! It's a slightly more comical action movie and it's just great. Also a Denzel Washington movie that would be great in a movie called 'training day' also staring Ethan Hawke. Thanks again guys for the great videos, keep it up!
Honey is a natural antibiotic with its high sugar content further preventing the growth of germs of various kinds, which is why it has been used for millennia in first aid treatment to avoid infections and speed healing. In the context of the film, it is a good way of disguising the purchase records and prevent any of the bad guys from realizing that he was injured, which is just tactically smart. If you enjoy films like this, then I would also recommend "The Mechanic" series with Jason Statham, in which he is a contracted assassin skilled at making his kills look like accidents, and it also has a bunch of plot twists and turns as well!
There’s actually a good reason he puts the sledgehammer back on the shelf at the store. Most likely he used it to attack (probably kill) the store thief when he got the ring back. Even if he wiped any blood or prints off of it if he puts it back on the shelf and some random customer buys it it could end up in just some random garage or toolbox. Can you picture how hard it would be for that hammer to be just “randomly found”. And even if it’s ever found there’s basically no chance it can be traced back to McCall.
Because of the next level editing, you got my sub and like and follow. Gongrats on the best of the best. You found a way to constantly analyze without disturbing the flow. As a producer, you got my like. sub and notify.
Teddy is a fantastic villain: intimidating, unhinged and completely evil. And it's weird because we pick up on this even though the hero is never really threatened by him. At no point does Teddy come really close to beating Robert amd yet we still understand the existential threat and profound evil he represents. Fantastic writing and acting

That’s AWESOME!!
Such a great movie. I love the sequel as well
21:46 this man is taking photos of them so calmly after dealing with the guy in the diner 😂😂😂😂😂😂 this man is cold
I love how Teddy thought he was going to intimidate Robert at his apartment, but when he walks up to him, Robert gets right in his face, showing him that he doesn't have an ounce of fear in him. I think at that moment Teddy realizes there's more to him than meets the eye.
Really like this movie. If you haven't seen it yet I would suggest Two Guns, Denzel Washington and Mark Walberg with Bill Paxton a really good over looked movie.
Antoine Fuqua should direct STAR WARS

He looks into your eyes while you're going into the abyss. He's ruthless.
ROBERT MCCALL WAS MY FAVORITE TV CHARACTER GROWING UP, THIS MOVIE REALLY CARRIES FORWARD THE VALUES OF THE CHARACTER.
For the holiday season
“ Almost Christmas “
This is everything I love about movies. The way they can really grip you. When everything just comes together perfectly. I'd suggest skipping the second one, but I'd HIGHLY recommend Nobody. Nobody and this are watched by me a lot back to back. 🐾🐾🍻
hey guys another great video, for another action movie I would definitely recommend 'Nobody', quite new with Bob Odenkirk (Saul from Breaking bad and Better call Saul) and even Christopher Lloyd!
You could watch Unstoppable (2010) with Denzel Washington! It's a train movie with a lot of suspense and some action.
For sure and forever a classic ❤️❤️✨
Loving yall channel ....Reaction are awesome and relatable
I LOVE this movie, and the second.
Been a huge fan of Denzal Washington ever since I watched Fallen
Another Denzel movie I'd love you to watch is Bone Collector! Love him!!!
I loved the original tv series with Edward Woodward
Anything with Denzel is amazing.
The Equalizer 2 is just as good, if not better
Teddy is a fantastic villain: intimidating, unhinged and completely evil. And it's weird because we pick up on this even though the hero is never really threatened by him. At no point does Teddy come really close to beating Robert amd yet we still understand the existential threat and profound evil he represents.
Fantastic writing and acting
Suggestions for next Actuon movies are: jack reacher, bourne identity......👍👍👍👍
