"They're going to take you" - I think that line really sold Brian's character. He didn't bullshit his daughter, he didn't lie to her to calm her down. He just straight up told her to focus her on what she needed to do.

This movie came out right before I spent a month in Hong Kong as an English teacher at a summer camp. I’m the only child and daughter in my family, and I was about 26 at the time. After we saw that movie, my dad (who already wasn’t thrilled about my upcoming trip to China) really didn’t want me going off on my own. I made sure to stay with others at all times, but it’s true you just never know what people are capable of doing to another human.

And to think, everything that transpired in this film could have been avoided if a daughter had listened to her father's sage wisdom and if an ex-wife had heeded her ex-husband's warnings as opposed to doing as they wished and ignoring Bryan's words all together. It was nothing short of a miracle that Bryan Mills was able to rescue his daughter because Kim's future could have easily been the same as Amanda's.

There not just straight up thinkin she's gonna go on a trip and oh maybe she might get kidnapped and sold and shit yk? Yes there are dangers in the world but for all they know dad could just be being over protective or to paranoid of his daughter going on that trip. It also doesn't help he didn't say or tell them that type of stuff happens around those parts and he knew it did 😂😂😂. I'm js it ain't that black and white. And as for the mother, she was by no means clueless about the nature of Bryan's work or how dangerous it was because she even admitted she had fears that her husband might not return home someday "expecting a phone call that he would never return" and those are her own words.

This movie is one of my favorites. The lack of awareness from Kim and Amanda paired with the reality of being targeted in a foreign country. Oftentimes, you hear about how easily you can be targeted, kidnapped, and/or scammed in a foreign country and never truly comprehend it. If you travel a lot, you tend to pick up certain habits, but many first time travelers, especially young ones, don't consciously remember those dangers and let small details about their lives slip making them easy targets. The movie, although a good ending for Kim, makes a point to show what happened to Amanda. Which is what happens to most girls who get kidnapped and trafficked.

from a movie watching aspect, i really like how well the director knows how to let a scene breathe. Like its very common for in action movies nowadays that its just action scene to action scene with only a little bit of story linking between them. In this movie, you get the action, then you see Brian actually decompress when its appropriate. It does a great job of humanizing Brian even more as he isnt just some terminator on a rampage but a man just doing his best in the situation.

Only a few escape and they're the ones who are so outspoken. Governments would rather ignore the issue because they dont want to acknowledge that its happening. My heart breaks for every missing person that no one is looking for. Also most people are trafficked by people they know, boyfriends family etc. its rarely a stranger abduction although they do happen. Traffickers dont like tattoos because theyre identifiable so if youre scared maybe get a little something. There are hotlines and people who will help you, if you believe you are being trafficked please reach out. You are not alone ❤

I consider my ex wife and her husband family. We are spending Christmas together. We go golfing and camping together. Our marriage didn't work but now that we're not together we can be friends. Put the past behind you. Because of pur relationship our kids grew up not having to worry about us fighting

    SMG = Sub Machine Gun
RPG (what you were thinking) - Rocket Propelled Grenade
Bazooka - (AT4 is often mistaken for this) similar to rpg
AT4 - since I brought it up, is a shoulder held Anti Tank rocket.

What blows me away is this movie is 15 years old. 👀😬 Where did the time go!
And a movie with Robert McCall (Denzel), Bryan Mills (Liam) and John Wick (Keanu) would be....INSANE.

Great movie. Other great movies like that are Equalizer with Denzel Washington and the first Bourne Identity movie. Other great Liam Nisson movies are Rob Roy 1995 and Darkman 1990 which is an original superhero movie Sam Ramie made before he got the rights to do the Spiderman movies. Another great movie like this is the first Jack Reacher (Which has a great Amazon series named Reacher)

There’s a solution for these kind of situations these days if you can’t do it yourself. There are companies like global rescue that you can pay as your travel insurance plus. They have plans that include kidnap & hostage rescue, intelligence, medical evacuation, security evacuation, etc. they employ vets from prestigious units like the seals, rangers, etc.

Well, if they are Americans and divorced , she asked for alimony and child support, considering the fact that he was getting paid very well, a lot of his money going towards his daughter and his ex-wife. Therefore, he had to keep going even harder to make more money for himself. Hence, the time away from his daughter.

Most analyst do this from training received, but gifted individuals can do this in the field. Those who are this talented and experienced are like this character in the movie, 3 to 5 moves ahead of their prey. Make no mistake those who are followed by these unique individuals feel like a mouse hunted by a hungry tiger.

If you guys haven't seen/reacted to Man On Fire with Denzel Washington, I highly recommend it. As well as Dragonfly with Kevin Costner. And Whale Rider. Also I don't know if you have seen/reacted to Last Of The Mohicans, or Dances With Wolves. But those are excellent too. Every film I just mentioned is wonderful & epic, & beautiful. Man On Fire is brutal but beautiful. Dragonfly is a BEAUTIFUL supernatural mystery. Whale Rider is an emotional drama, but has a beautiful ending. And Last Of The Mohicans are Early American Frontier & American Indian stories of fiction, but based loosely on real history. Great depictions, great story telling. 👍
Also - The Call & Kidnap, both with Halle Barry, are great movies, & I think both are loosely based on a real events.
I can't speak for Canada - But HT goes on within the US as well. You don't have to travel abroad to be at great possible risk. There are videos on TH-cam that have survivor testimonies, & shine a light on this subject. I'm sure it happens in every country. And corrupt police & government officials working with organized crime syndicates actually enable or facilitate it. Just pray for your kids, & be cautious & aware of your surroundings at all times. Teach them to be alert & aware. And teach them as they grow older to be prepared for anything. Have or carry whatever weapons of self defense that are feasible & legal in your country. Maybe enroll them in basic self defense classes. Also Jane - I want to point out that when you were a teen/young adult, the risks were there for sure, but there was less risk. Just like back in the 50's people used to leave their doors unlocked, & kids stayed out unsupervised until dark. The more time that goes by, the less repressed a nation becomes, the more technology, & corruption, the greater the risk. So that said - sadly, it was somewhat safer for you in your generation, than it will be for your kids. But just as technology can be used to the advantage of the corrupt, it can be used to help keep us safe as well. We now have GPS tracking devices for pets, cars, & children for example. Get your kids fingerprints for safekeeping. Teach them if they are ever in a situation God forbid to put their fingerprints all over the place. They can carry around a small pocket knife or box knife or something to cut any bonds that might be placed on them. And a Bobby pin or something for picking locks. Teach them to think on their toes. Just be as proactive as possible. And teach them to be as well. Look at their cars for markers from these kinds of people. Teach them to give their vehicles a daily once over. And not to fall for any of the common tactics that are used. Sorry not trying to lecture you. I'm sure you're very good parents. I'm trying to encourage you.
