    I like how mbaku became sort of a big brother figure to Shuri in this movie. Him giving Tchalla his blessing to look after her is very wholesome and the way they arm wrestled to prove the serum worked was hilarious. That was some big brother lil sister shit. I also liked that he let her feel what she felt with wanting revenge on Namor and although he disagreed he respected her as the panther and didn’t intervene too much opinion wise but still spoke his piece. Where in the
    previous movie he would cook her for being head of the weapons department as a child.

    To me, the best part of the film was Namor explaining his origin. Hearing him say "I am a mutant" was so refreshing to hear. I love how Ryan Coogler used vibranium as a really creative plot device to mirror Black Panther and Namor since we know they'll eventually be on the Illuminati but introducing Namor as an " antagonist"/extreme nationalist sets up his moral ambiguity perfectly.

    I loved it. I especially loved how wise they made shuri. Knowing where wakanda needed her most by leaving M'Baku, a wise leader in his own right, be king. Implying that scientific progress and protecting the Nation were more than enough. Shuri is the realest female superhero. She battled her rage and thought of her people first by negotiating and making peace. I can't wait to see her again, because of all the traits important to the black panther, wisdom imo is the most important. Great stuff.

    Just wanted to add that the character Namor doesn't have hispanic roots... He and his people are actually from PRE-hispanic times and continued their community as native indigenous people (their mother tongue is Mayan). The colonizers he saw as a child were Hispanics.

      @@FireJach you mean Mexican accent... The accents in spanish (language) are as different depending on their region as in english, even inside Mexico. So... Spanish people have a VERY different accent than Mexicans, and that is because we mixed the Spanish with a lot of our indigenous tongues. • @prizethought
      @prizethought 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Yeah, I'm a lot more comfortable with people calling him "Native American" than Hispanic, as soon as he came back up to the surface he saw the Spanish people enslaving, torturing, raping his related ancestors, destroying their culture & way of life, oppressing & exploiting them in the most inhumane fashion without a care.
      Its hard to blame Namor for getting a very bad expression/perspective on humanity & what all humans are the ground in charge of things are.

    I liked the yin and yang thing with shuri/wakanda and namor/talokan, showing Namor is not intentionally evil natured and his morals seem more in line with king T'Chaka, sacrificing a life for the protection and safety of the people they rule, which Shuri naturally is not cool with. It's not a good vs evil story, it's two rulers and two communities, both capable of good things and both capable of dark things, trying their best to do right for the people they care about and want to protect. Neither side is motivated by greed or lust for power the way we see with so many of the mcu's villains, both sides are motivated by love, and fear of losing what or who they love after both rulers had lost so much

    Not really part of this post-credit scene, but an Easter egg from the movie that I have not heard mentioned yet: ‪Shuri’s computer AI, voiced by Noah Trevor, is named Griot. In Africa, a griot is a musician/singer/storyteller who is a living archive of the cultural knowledge, genealogies, oral histories, and traditions of their people. They would often act as an advisor to African royalty. ‬

    Something that really bothers me about the portrayal of wakanda is that you never feel like you're watching the full military might of a nation. In the 1st movie and infinity war you mostly see infantry which made me wonder where all the vehicles and artillery are. In wakanda forever the final battle happens on a SINGLE ship, so again I wondered why aren't there more????

    • @prathapkutty7407
      @prathapkutty7407 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the battle in infinity war didn't make sense. If they have flying ships why send in ground troops to fight those powerful alien creatures. They could've just shot them all down from a distance as well as drop bombs to take them all out.

    • @summertyme5748
      @summertyme5748 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      _you never feel like you're watching the full military might of a nation_
      Wakanda isn't a warfare state. They are an isolationist nation shielded by technology.
      In Infinity War they are being attacked by beings from Space.
      When they shield themselves - the attack comes up from the ground.
      This is now happening inside wakanda yet you want them to drop bombs from the air.
      Lets say you move the whole fight into the air, then what?
      Now you have flying Outriders against Wakandan air craft, but the result is much the same no?
      Once Thanos army gets inside the air defense force field - battle is over.
      Last question: *When is the last time you saw the full might of the American military?*
      WWII?

    I loved the movie and will be going see it again. I love your breakdown of these DC/Marvel movies because you explain the comics. I have never read a comic before but I do love the movies. I understand those of you who did read the comics have a higher expectation than those who haven’t read them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and information with us. I find myself coming to your channnel to gain an understanding of these movies.

    Best film of phase 4 and one of the better Marvel projects; a true tribute after such tragedy.
    They handled the recasting call the best way possible and we'll see the new man in T'challa jr but for now Shuri is Black Panther who had an incredible journey in becoming so (*-* ) Powerhouse performances by all as the feelings were too real.
    I'd like to see Bastet herself in the third and we explore the spiritual/cosmic side of Wakanda.

    Movie was an easy A 😌 love the movie, love the acting, tributes, keeping Namor alive. I honestly was gonna be upset if they killed Namor off. I rather the Young Prince T'Chella be named after his comic boy name when Storm and T'Chella had a child together. But I'll live with it ❤️

    • @UnGoDLYLoads73

      Well the kid is the “new” T’chala. It is his son but it’s like they are going to pick up where they were going to continue, so when they introduce the X-men in and storm is in it they possibly might have the “new” T’chala have the kid in the comic with storm. He just has to age up. That’s why they gave said the blip time of 5 years, he probably is like 10 in the movie. They’ll forsure do a time jump during one of the Kang movies to age up the new T’chala

    Don’t know what you saying by not cracking the top 10 spots, this movie is great they handled the passing of Chadwick well, the cultural aspect are far better then anything else out there they actually had them speak in native tongue throughout the movie and not “white wash it”, and her transition throughout the movie of how people deal with grief over time was amazing. By far my top 5 MCU movie spot, and definitely delivered on how sequels should be. I did however found that having the son at the end was a bit to early… but again they want to have a “true” black Panther (male). When I think Letitia did any amazing job handling the black Panther model and Shuri was black Panther in the comics too and it was an amazing representation of the character

    You should've definitely gotten into the brown + black vs colonizer (French, American and more)...
    its a big part of why Namor's mother wished or hoped for a land they shouldn't have to leave. Much like the early back and forth migration of workers from Mexico to the US (late 1800s and early 1900s). There are so many geopolitical connotations if you just stick out your ear towards it.
