- If Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever seems like a more serious film than Thor: Love and Thunder or Multiverse of Madness, it's only because they stuck a funeral on the end. A memorial to Chadwick Boseman only sometimes interrupts the circus. The writing is the usual MCU mix of nonsense and silliness.

As an African myself, born in Ghana and raised in both Ghana and the UK, Black Panther's depiction of African culture is kitsch to say the least. I'm glad that you mentioned it is a Black American's vision of what is African and it makes no sense. There is no such thing as "African culture" because Africa is the most ethnically diverse continent in the world. For example, in Ghana there are over 100 distinct indigenous languages in a population of 30 million people. I found the film to be incredibly ignorant and frankly Wakanda as a nation I didn't like at all because of their haughtiness, xenophobia and racism.
It’s spiritually empty, too. You’d come away thinking all it takes to capture “Africanness” is wearing certain clothes and dancing. No sense of religion, of meaning to the rituals, of tribal culture - it’s just fashion.

T'Chala meeting their Panther God after taking the flower, the gods statue all around the nation, the whole ritual of choosing and becoming the king after being buried hin sand and then rising again symbolising Rebirth of a Prince as a King as Black Panther. Black panther is built on the Dahomey by the original creators. I do not see my culture as a Cushitic in Black Panther just saying.
@@Farhan917 to be fair their location makes it look like they would be in contact with the ethiopians and kushites but if they are based on dahomey that does not make sense like if a place in nothern norway is based on the swedes when the ethnic majority is norwegian and samic/sapmi/samisk mostly samisk but there are a larg majority of norwegian in the southern parts of northern norway around the coast

The entire “infiltrate” the school thing is really funny because you can literally just walk on campus at pretty much any campus in America. You don’t have to be a super spy, you literally just walk up and walk onto campus, it’s super easy, barely inconvenient.

The fact that Shuri thought "oh shit, killing an attendant in Talokan is going to start a war" and not "shit, killing a bunch of CIA agents on American soil is going to start a war, especially after they already heavily suspected us of killing a shitload on a vibranium research platform."
She didn't silence anyone just escaped from the CIA agents only Talokan did the silencing

@@aezurefx Talokan is way stronger than the US. Right. So despite the fact that Prologue Research Lady actually shot and downed several with a handgun, Talokan's gonna stand up against anti-tank rifles, depth charges, and nuclear weaponry.
Before you say "but vibranium," Black Panther 1 establishes that sonics can fuck with the qualities of Vibranium. It's how T'Challa lands the fatal blow on Killmonger despite both having Vibranium suits.
Now, water is actually a really good environment for sound to travel. Goes a lot faster than in air due to the density. Means it's a lot more powerful, a lot louder than on the surface.
The Wakandans have whole railway systems designed to pump out this frequency on the DAILY for all the transport of vibranium. They aim that shit at Talokan, they are FUCKED.

Within the train system there were sonic stabilizers in place that sought to disable all vibranium during travel because the metal would heat up moving at those high speeds. Shuri is the developer of this technology alone and a sonic stabilizer is a different composition than a basic sonic wave considering how the sonic waves were focused rather than dispersed as normal sound, we don't have enough information on what "sonic stabilization" entails nor how it differentiates from Sonic waves in general.
We've seen Shuri use a smaller application of these sonic stabilizers in her gauntlets against Killmonger, he ended up breaking them within seconds.
There are no weapons that other nations weild that can properly combat vibranium within the MCU.
Holy crap, I forgot that T'Challa was one of the Snapped. That's a pretty big plot hole, after a good year or so of his absence they definitely would have chosen another Panther.

Woah the whole ending of the first movie was about T'Challa being annoyed that his people have stayed hidden and not helped the world.
It seems like the writers have forgotten that. It looks like they just wanted to base it off of historical anger or something now? Its like were taking a step back. I dunno how to explain it, but the whole thing feels like its only about race? I feel it lately more too, that stuff like this only concentrates about that and separates the groups from each other instead of bringing them together, which the end of the first movie wanted to do
Well no, he wasnt annoyed. He was actually against wakanda revealing itself until the end, for some reason. His sister was annoyed.
In the comics, it was basically always an issue for T'challa.
When M'baku usurped Wakanda's throne by killing T'chaka, T'challa fled for America to recruit some of the more publicly-known superheroes to help take his throne back. In the original comics he petitioned the Fantastic Four, while in _Earth's Mightiest Heroes'_ functional remake of this story, he went to the Avengers. In fact, he had a great exchange with Cap, who suggested that it was wrong to usurp a leader that the people approved of and stood behind, only for T'challa to lament that his people were bound by a backwards, brutal tradition that did more to hold them back by allowing such a coup in the first place. It was a great showcase of the values of the two supersoldiers from wildly different cultures.
By seeking the help of foreigners to take his throne and country back, it opened T'challa's eyes to how vulnerable Wakanda's isolationism had left them in an increasingly hero-dominated world. In fact, once becoming Black Panther himself, T'challa actually undid a lot of Wakanda's more backwards policies, including the trial by combat. (Though in EMH, he did reinstate it for about a minute to screw with Hawkeye one time because T'challa wasn't above some occasional playful trolling during downtime. He had great chemistry with Hawkeye...) Black Panther actually had one of the longer tenures working with the Avengers, confident that his people could essentially handle things themselves in his absence after his revolutionary decrees.
But no, the Wakanda and the Black Panther of the MCU are little more than a flanderized parody, a shadow of the dignity they could have had...
His father was talking about that back in the _Avengers Civil War_ film.
"Wakanda cannot stand alone. Wakanda must be part of the wider world." etc
They just have to keep hitting that reset button like Skinner's pigeons though.
No the ending of the first one was that the white cop side character saving the world/wakanda , that's called a room of white ppl writing a bad black lead movie..... how convenient
You nailed one of the key plotholes (or piss poor writing decisions): Namor wants the surface world to remain ignorant about his people, and yet decides that an invasion of Wakanda would somehow keep them off of the world's radar. This makes ZERO sense. ZERO.

Chadwick shouldnt be remembered for one role just because it was his most popular, he has done other roles and actions/quotes that are as much more inspiring than black panther. It makes me incredibly mad that the media AND the public only remembers him for it, the man was even visibly getting exhausted (in each photos) of doing the wakanda salutation pose with fans.
Wakandan calling Bilbo "colonizer" is the most ironic thing in MCU.

@@andehuimatadamas5643 Well... the thing is, calling any white person who is alive today colonizer can be considered racist because the white elites and their soldiers of the white majority countries did the "colonization"(more like occupation and enslavement and pillaging) hundreds of years ago... the great great great grandfather of the elites so not even them are responsible today let alone the average folk who was toiling away on land and later in factories while all of that took place. There is not much else connecting today's white people to colonization other than their race and heritage. Also what happens to individual thought?... you know your race and heritage does not determine how you think about colonization.

Honestly, the idea that some other source of vibranium is found (perhaps another meteorite) that puts Wakanda’s snooty superiority complex in it’s place and the ramification of this for the nation would’ve actually been a pretty slick plot idea.
I agree. Plus irl there is so much of the oceans that are unexplored. It would be plausible that in the MCU a second meteorite or a fragment broke off from the one that landed in Africa landed in the ocean. And at its depths, the Aztecs prospered from it and remained hidden for centuries because of how deep they were. And if anyone got remotely close would get sunk.

Welp in the movie the reason for wakanda wanting to maintain the "monopoly" on vibranium is that any other nation would use it to build (and use) horrid weapons, so the point is basically to protect other people from the vibranium's deadly potential and not some superiority complex
I just found it strange how Shuri was like, “don’t kill this one Talocan lady, it’ll mean war!”
Despite the fact the Talocan killed something like 30-60 CIA and Navy personnel, which in itself is arguably both worse and could be seen as a declaration of war.

For all the fuss people made about Scorsese's feelings on comic book movies, Marvel is working so hard to make him seem correct.

I can confirm that Africans are regularly embarrassed by African Americans' depiction of Africans/Africa. I (Kenyan) watch this film with my Gambian girlfriend. We were disappointed. My Kenyan friends didn't care for it too.
I have not read the comics but it seems they are trying to include every distinct African tribe just to showcase them, but with no true value. I would much rather they created a new Wakandan culture inspired by Africa rather than having Maasai dancing next Zulus just for the sake of it. It was cool for a brief moment in Black Panther because it's the first time we have seen it but you can't keep playing the same trick.
As with Woman King (which my gf doesn't plan on finishing), they don't factor in any authenticity. As Africans, we can tell West Africans from South Africans from East Africans. From how they look to how they sound. When they cast people from different parts of Africa we are immediately removed from the believability of the narrative. Let me not even begin with the accents! They seem to always go with this generic 'Africa Accent' that is just lazy.
I can't wait till Africans are telling African stories with the budget of these Hollywood films because moviemakers today are completely misrepresenting us while inserting their woke ideologies. It's almost as if you can't watch a film with a good story and escape into the narrative. It's tiring! One thing I have learnt in all this is I can not trust African Americans with African stories.
I encourage you to start, and you don't need the budget of these Hollywood blockbusters of today. Hollywood got famous making lots of moderate and low budget films for entertainment and they have forgotten that now.

I'm second generation myself and if you went into either Black Panther expecting it to be a true to life representation of African culture and/or an "African" movie you were setting yourself up for disappointment, Wakanda a fictional country as in NOT REAL therefore automatically not representative of reality. Were to be 1:1 realistic then it'd make even less sense because "Why does this fictional country's culture look exactly like its real neighbor, wow such lazy world building."
If the exact same movie was set in Senegal for example it still wouldn't be a problem because no giant meteor made of a fictional metal landed there in real life which would've almost certainly changed the trajectory of the country's culture from what it is in reality today.
Ryan Coogler researched different countries largely to take only stylistic influence and make an amalgamation nation that, because its fictional and non specific, can be a vessel for any African people to inserts themselves, maybe to one of the individual tribes (river, border, mountain etc.) (And I won't speak to the woman king as i haven't seen it but lets keep in mind not every country depicted in such movies have thriving movie industries with dozens of good actors at the ready to play genuinely accurate characters)
The real problem with media and media critique right now is people constantly trying to attach reality to fiction, equating the two is never healthy and we as a generation raised on television and the internet really have a hard time differentiating the two.
All of us don't think this way! I am African American please don't put us all in the same bracket.
I hope to see your stories and mythology on the big screen some day! Africa is an extremely interesting continent ☺️
How Wakanda works in the comics:
The 1st Black Panther has a vision where the panther God tales him he can drink the juice of the heart shaped flower and not die but gain super powers, he does and conquers as much land as he can with the aid of vivranium weapons until he runs into similarly powered shaman king. Only those of his blood line can drink it and not die.
Fast forwards several centuries and T'chaka is the Black Panther, realizes that due to differences in tech soon the Black Panther alone wont be enough and breaks with tradition and sends T'chala to study in the US.
T'chala excel in sciences and sees that his father is right and they need better technology to survive, T'chaka is then killed and T'chala avenges and replaces him.
T'Chala sells a tiny portion of vivranium for a fortune to people he trusts in the US, tests the brightest youth of Wakanda that he then sends to study sciences all over the world.
Decades later, those that succeeded return having become leaders of their field at which point they create a think tank and further what they learned with vivranium as a crutch to bypass tech limits.
At which point noble houses who fear breaking with traditions are opposed to T'chala's rule but can't do anything because that would break tradition, T'chala also can't abolish the old ways without losing his power as King over these powerful houses.
This is how we get the dichotomy of super advance science in Wakanda and also old tribal rules, the older generation pushes for traditionalism to keep their power while newer generations want to modernize.
How Wakanda works in the MCU:
1st Black Panther got a vision and drank the juice, unified the tribes and with the help of vivranium the somehow invented magical science, the end.
One of these stories makes sense, the other though...
Do they explain how they can mine or manipulate vibranium with primitive tools?
What happened to the comic version where wakanda didn't have vibranium meteor but had a vibranium space ship that already had all the technology made on it. You know the version that makes the most sence when it comes to being secretive and high tech becuase they have space tech.
@@lynxcato3327 Yes and no, basically in it's raw form it's very similar to iron (except with some weird interactions with energy weapons) and it's only once tempered that it gains it's superior hardness. I say no because entry through the atmosphere makes the previous make little sense since the outer shell should be nearly indestructible...
@@stigmaoftherose That was from the Ultimate comics if I'm not mistaken, a Chitauri mothership crashed in Wakanda and the Black Panther powers are purely magical. It's a none canon explanation, the one I cited is the original one.

I came away from BP2 wondering why the hell is M'Baku not Black Panther. Man has done far more heroic stuff than the main cast and has shown some pretty strong leadership qualities. On top of being charismatic too.

@@theoneandonlymasterjosh2912 we don't know that's how it always works though. We know 2. What if that family dies out? What if the next person in line is 5? Is there no black panther until they're old enough? None of this is established, otherwise I'd say yes.
"Because she's not a fish, and black people can't swim." That line made me laugh out loud. It's hilariously ironic to me that I happen to be a black person in my thirties who doesn't know how to swim.
@Rusty Douglas perhaps, but at least in regards to America, that doesn't seem to be sufficient in explaining why so many blacks who grow up in the same locations as whites with water available just can't swim. Simply put, if you know anything about black culture in America you know that they tend to not like going into the wilderness or doing nature stuff. They don't like camping, they don't like going to swim in the local lakes like the white kids do, they just tend to stay put in civilization. Even black made media pokes fun at black Americans not knowing how to swim, like in black dynamite how it said blacks go to the beach to only go waist deep in water, not actually swim in it and how Black Dynamite couldn't swim, despite going to the beach. Black Americans are aware about what they tend to and tend not to do, even they admit a disproportionate amount of them don't swim and don't particularly care to.
I remember having a swim day in high school and my buddy Kelvin wouldn't get in the pool so I jokingly told him he was reinforcing negative stereotypes, but dude didn't budge.
@travissamuels2339 If even socially-rooted act of comedy can be subjective completely (and not, in fact, at least intersubjective) then nothing matters. A house can subjectively be a person. Furniture can be crocodile. Also, taking into consideration the criteria of intent serves as a good denominator of defining comedic acts. Therefore, the video essay is about a poorly made film, all jabs are meant to reinforce the disappointment of wasted potential and bad film work. Not insult black people by allowing deeply rooted, repressed, vile racism to flourish in undertones of some film critique. In short, salient insults in this case are overinterpretation due to narrow context of the essay.

@Travis Samuels the stereotype is neither racist nor is it inherently negative. Stereotypes are only negative when they are untrue, unfairly viewed or are seen to apply universally when they don't. The stereotype in question doesn't inherently fit any of the above nor does the usage of it as a joke in this video. It might be racist for one to blanket assume any black person they see is unable to swim, but it isn't racist for them to recognize the very true trend that westernized black folk are much less likely to know how to swim than their white counterparts

Yes, funerals that look like celebrations can be found in Africa. "The boy who harnassed the wind" (an excellent autobiographical film) shows something like this too .
We have something like that in India.
But It's less dancing and singing and moreso a bunch of women cry around a casket while it's being moved to a pyre to be burned at, while loud music is playing in the background.
I am an African and can confirm.

In my particular culture, there are no celebrations on the day the person dies or until the person is buried. But on the 7th day, it’s basically like a party, with alcohol and people dancing.
But other tribes and cultures(many in South Africa) even dance and sing in the cemetery around the coffin.
But Africa is huge, so it’s not the same in every country or even within a country, each tribe have their own ways, but it’s pretty common to have funerals that look like celebrations, it’s even a meme around here.
Not one of my students has seen this film but all of them have praised it.
That sounds horrible, it’s sad to see todays youth so easily pleased by mediocrity or garbage simply because of branding.
Activism and causes are their priorities. I pose ethical questions to challenge cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias and some are totally thrown by it.

When one student complained I was forcing him to challenge his beliefs and it made him feel uncomfortable I did suggest that Is or perhaps should be what college is for? Silly me
As an African I'd like to say that this has to be one of the most overrated movies in history and most of my friends agree.
One part of meeting Riri that I hope someone talks about. They wanted to take her with them. She says "oh my god you're the princess am I being scouted?" The best thing at this point a person really wanting to get someone could do is go "Yes. You are now come with me." She would have been excited and gone right ahead. Instead they go "no."
“You’re not being scouted, you’re being recruited”, BOOM, saved that confrontation, but then marvel writers wouldn’t have had a confrontation to make quips off of, instead of breaking the formula and trying to make joke elsewhere.

It's funny how Riri was smart enough to invent a vibranium-detecting machine on a dare but evidently not smart enough to predict that Wakanda (and she knows about Wakanda enough to recognize Shuri from the first glance) won't be happy about it and will probably, CERTAINLY send someone after her. The girl should be under CIA protection, not strolling around campus.
It's so sad they gave T'Challa a straw death instead of a heroic end. He wears a cgi suit that covers his whole body, they could have easily used a stunt man in the BP suit and have him go down in battle.
They could have had him die by Namor's hand which could have been used for the story.

My brother went into this film with the prediction that they would have a CG Black Panther fighting some threat alongside his warriors and he'd sacrifice himself in some way to save his people, becoming a posthumous hero-king who gave his life for Wakanda.

I feel like there was an attempt to make a Young Avengers film with all the tv specials and movies throughout Phase 4 but because of how all the members of the team were shoehorned in as the Maguffins of the film they are in, it fell flat. Really, really hard.
Those characters couldn’t carry their own comics, much less a film franchise.
If they really wanted to respect Chadwick Boseman by not recasting him, they should have just ended the Black panther saga. His story had already been told, from the moment he showed up in civil War, to his own movie, and finally with wakanda itself playing an intrical role in the final battle against thanos. This new movie felt more like an insult than a tribute to Chadwick.

Recasting Black Panther is an interesting subject that no one really talked about concerning this movie, which is odd because the MCU isn't new to recasting roles. Rhodey, the Warrior's 3, and Bruce Banner are the biggest ones that come to mind. I think the magnitude of the tragedy would have convinced Marvel Studios/Disney that a simple recast would be perceived as callous and disrespectful to Chadwick Boseman. So I don't think it was possible to recast T'Challa with Wakandian Boogaloo, at least from Disney's point of view.
However, something that _was_ possible for them, was simply not releasing this movie at all. Which I understand would be a waste of time, money and effort, but it's not like this hasn't happened before. Batgirl's movie was all set and ready to go, but they never released it and moved on to their next projects, so it's not the end of the world if you decide to just sit an already made and ready movie on the shelf and move on with other movies. I think this would've been the right move for the studio/company, because turning the movie into a clownish parade of tonal schizophrenia is incredibly embarrassing and disrespectful to Chadwick Boseman's memory and the MCU as a whole.
What would have been the best and smartest move for everyone, is to simply wait out the mourning period the public and the staff needed for Chadwick Boseman, never release this movie in respect for the incredible loss, and recast T'Challa in a future movie, years from now. And then keep the Black Panther aspect of the MCU going forward with this new actor while remaining respectful and somber about Chadwick Boseman's untimely death. It gives the audience and the staff time to move forward and refocus on the MCU franchise, not on the tragedy and allows any future story with the Black Panther mythos to continue without Chadwick Boseman. Similar to Iron Man's mythos continuing without the original Rhodey actor, Hulk's mythos continuing without the original Bruce Banner actor, and Thor's mythos continuing without the original Warrior's 3 actors. Just sayin', it would have made more sense and it would have saved us from the travesty that was this film. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

they were still in "contact" with the outside world, shown in the first movie their country isn't secret just the tech is, they would've gone out into the world (shown by the numerous times they do so) and learned science and technology from other peoples and brought that knowledge back to use with vibranium.

In the comics it actually has some reasoning that vibranium has some mutagenic qualities, which is where the heart shaped herb comes from and just overall the environment in wakanda has caused some advancement genetically and dietarily, the trade off is wakanda is only more advanced in the use of vibranium and some linked uses to it, but since they are isolationist they didn’t trade and learn everything every other culture did by sharing knowledge, they don’t have things like paper or the wheel even let alone gunpowder but they do have some very advanced tech while also still only having mostly tribal dwellings and customs with anything newer being rather recent since tchaka actually started opening to the outside world and sending select exemplary wakandans to first world nations universities to help wakanda catch up kinda like a wakanda meiji restoration is going on when tchalla becomes king

11:15 I love this entire point, because part of me was hoping this would be the direction with Chadwick passing. Tell a small story, with simple stakes local to Wakanda (perhaps the entire story is about the passing the of Black Panther mantle). Have the cast dealing with the fallout of his loss, reflecting on what he meant as a man and as a title. It could have been a win-win.
You get to pay respect to Chadwick in a way that doesn't feel like a cash grab, get to spend some time developing the next BP in a way that would hook in general audiences, and you get to pause the Marvel sludge in a way that would make for a sensible breather from all the non-sensical action.
It also could have given an opportunity to do some much needed world building, because I know I'm completely lost as to what is going on basically anywhere in the MCU now. They could have contextualized a lot of how Wakanda dealt with the blip through the lens of dealing with T'challa's death. Maybe the events of IW and the blip caused Wakanda to regress and become apathetic to the world, and BP focused all his efforts on that rather than his health, and his death was the catalyst to cause the internal feuds to cease... Idk, something. Especially given that T'challa's legacy likely would have been Wakanda becoming a relevant player on the world stage.

Also, the language thing is meant to respect our enslaved ancestors, who were forbidden to speak their own languages and then ridiculed for their attempts to speak a new one. A lot of Black Americans feel that they do not owe anybody the language of their oppressors, and much prefer the adapted language of the oppressed. It's not illiteracy, it's literacy in a different form of the language. Lastly, in the US we are habitually misinformed about the modern day lives of people from other places, it's not just Africans who are seen _by some_ as "noble savages" it is everyone, from the people of the Asian continent, to the people of Canada. They sell us on the idea that everyone else is living centuries behind us so that we never want to leave. It's an equal opportunity problem.

By the late Middle Ages, Western Europe had arguably the most advanced weapons and armor on the planet. But the advancement of Western Europe metallurgy and smithing came as a result of far reaching trade and endless cycles of warfare. Wakanda would have had none of that.
Perhaps I'm going too far asking for a comic book world to make sense. But I think most of what's gone into the MCU is at least internally consistent. But I've only seen a handful of the movies as they're pretty bad in general.

Plot hole within the first 45 seconds of the movie. Why is Shuri trying to recreate the heart shaped herb to save T’challa when he should already have it within him? He took the last one Nakia stole from the temple before Killmonger burned it all. It revived him and he was a fully powered Black Panther for Infinity War and and Endgame. Now he’s sick for some reason? Where’d his powers go? did he remove them? did it get purged from his system when he was snapped away? did he fight Thanos’ army without the herb? Considering they didn't want to recast for this movie (which I completely understand), why didn't they just have the movie take place during the snap? They could've had the exact same movie, funeral and all, have Shuri take up the mantle, AND have an organic way of reintroducing T'Challa in the future. Hell, it makes Namor even more of a threat seeing as Wakanda's citizens were probably heavily affected by the snap too.
Like you said before I find it super weird that he was dead for 5 years and none of that gets mentioned in the film at all.

50% people were snapped, including shuri & tchalla, i don’t think they metioned it in the movie since wakanda forever takes place in 2025 about a year or 2 after the snap, so i don’t see why it would be metioned
Shuri should never have taken the mantle up. She's not a fighter in any sense of the word - she's the smart one. Personally, I'd have done a Phantom Menace and made Shuri the de jure Queen of Wakanda, with somebody physically *much stronger* than Shuri as the de facto Black Panther.

I tried to ignore it but - ULTRON is not a AI - nor was it built by anyone except maybe Thanos. The easiest way to put this is that Wanda roofied Tony so that he was out of it enough to plug in a trojan infected specter to his system without thought.
That said, AOU is the stupidest film because it relies on a Rube Goldberg machine of contriviance to get the plot moving and then a lot of character destruction to keep it moving. It was an exceptionally idiotic film and should have been a firm sign of all the nonsense that would follow such as this movie being reviewed here.
Final note: JARVIS was over 20 by the time AOU would have occured - Friday is over a decade by the time of this movie. ULTRON is not the be-all of AI. ALSO - why is Shuri only doing AI and suits after running through VISION's head? Why make her a copycat thief?

Let's focus on the fact they apparently could NOT reverse engineer this detector. How do they expect to USE VIBRANIUM which the US government has not had ANY of for almost a century. So they've got a machine, they know it works for some reason, I guess they had a paperweight of Vibranium laying around to test it on. Just like REEEEri apparently did. Can they even MINE the stuff? Apparently fucking not, they found the shit and it broke their drill, so they have no idea how to even mine it apparently! (That also raises the question, how the fuck did Wakandans mine it the FIRST time, when their greatest technological advance was stone spears?

Who is the actual originator of the powers and title, and literally guided them into learning how to magically control certain cosmic energies, WHICH BROUGHT THE VIBRANIUM METEOR DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE. As for them being isolationist and not using their absurd technology to help the rest of Africa? Here's an entry from the wiki.

Wakanda Forever has actually introduced the problems of interconnected storytelling for me.
Scott Lang discovered, with some time displacement watches invented by Tony Stark, that the Quantum Realm can be used for time travel.
Shuri is a super-genius and clearly a better scientist and engineer than those before her. She could have used the Quantum Realm to save T'Challa or kidnap him from another reality and bring him back to hers. Since she's so smart, there's no reason why she can't build her own Quantum Tunnel and Pym Particles.
Also, she prays to Bast to save T'Challa. Waititi has established that gods don't give a damn about the people who worship them.
While the Wakandans were crying and mourning their king, Bast was scoffing grapes and having orgies with Ninny of the Nonnie.
That’s facts. Ppl seem to overlook that. I got another one for you. T’Challa is personal friends/allies with geniuses, time travelers, gods and reality warpers. One of whom is an actual doctor. Why not contact said doctor (who also is one of the most powerful sorcerers ever) who can also instantaneously teleport himself to Wakanda (or anywhere else in the world), and have him come save the king. Or, cryo freeze T’Challa, until Shuri, or--canonically stated in his own movie--the brilliant doctor, can find the cure to T’Challa’s disease. Even though T’Challa has a healing factor. @@kieroncampion120 initially Tony discovered Vibranium in Iron Man 2 (the element replacing Palladium which would power his heart and Iron Man suit) that was canon until they later retconned it to be only Wakanda having Vibranium. So technically he did use a machine he created to discover it.

I am African and I can say that Black panther 2 was a disaster. As a person from Africa I really dislike white washed "African-ness". In the movie they mix swahili, khosa and other African languages to make it sound "African" and the pronounciations are excellent to WTF did that person say. I also dont get how wakanda forever actually has no plot. Like the entire movie is just trying to use a funeral as its anchor point and nothing else. The whole plot is about colonisation??? or protecting my people?? or a monarch or what? because every time they ran out of plot they kill some other significant character and the spacing of the movie is terrible 2 hour + movie and expensive tickets to support an "african" film that has nothing african about it. Might as well be a George of the jungle film because atleast they didnt claim it to be african.

We're also presuming the Michonne had all the authority to requisition whatever she needed to protect the princess. MCU Phase 5 would need to be the biggest course correction in the history film & TV
Given the titanic levels of nonsense we have already seen, MCU cannot be saved. The only thing that could be done is some kind of massive reset, deleting most (if not all) of Phase 4 from existence, and shutting down the multiverse. Start again from Endgame, this time with some kind of plan.
phase 5 will need to be a full reboot at this pace just scrap it and start over. maybe start with deadpool 4 vs marvel and he just kills all of them and clicks the restart button at the end to start building it back up?

You actually made an interesting point regarding the blip. T’Cholla was already “dead” for the last 5 years. What was Wakanda doing in his absence before that? Probably his mother was ruling. Who was the Black Panther during that time? Did they have one? Seems like they’d want or need one. Why was this only resolved after T’Cholla came back and then died? Wouldn’t the nation have already mourned his loss and come up with a means of succession?

I agree totally with your assessment of the original Black Panther. It was garish, often illogical, the fight scenes were meh at best, and the character of Black Panther had been used much better and more effective in Civil War. Had it not been the "cultural moment" it was, that film would not have received the critical accolades it has (the fact that it was nominated for Best Picture was laughable by filmmaking standards). Likewise, had Chadwick Boseman not passed away, this sequel would get much harsher criticism than it does by mainstream critics. And I say all of that just based on the actual filmmaking, I don't have the least thing against the representation of poc (or anyone else, really). It's just kind of sad to see the Black community hold Black Panther in such reverence when they deserved a much better film than it turned out to be.

However, there ARE objective aspects in talking about how well a film is made, about good and bad writing, logical coherence, the quality of camerawork, special effects or other technical aspects, or the quality of dialogue writing or acting performances. Granted, a badly made film can still have huge entertainment value, ironically or unironically, to at least a select audience, but that does not make it a good film. And I did not even call BP a bad film, not did I say that people who like it ar idiots, but what I am saying is that it has very obvious flaws and is not nearly as good a film as popular reception would have you believe. You are free to disagree with that, but I stand by it.
