    I have an 04 Ram 1500 5.7 liter 4x4 with 214,000 miles and this fixed my transmission. It started to jerk forward when stopped at a light with the brakes applied for a couple of weeks. Then one day after leaving work, the engine light came on and the transmission felt like it was taking off in a higher gear than first gear and stayed in that gear without shifting all the way home. I hooked up my engine light scanner and got 3 codes, a generic P0700, P1775 and P0841. I couldn't find anyone else with those codes and a solution online but read other people's trucks that were getting a different code and would stay in 4th gear so, I decided to change the solenoid and it fixed the problem. The Mopar solenoid, new filter and 9 quarts of fluid it took to refill it cost me $230. Thank you for uploading this video!

    Thanks to u I was able to do this by myself. I also replaced the transmission radiator and flushed the whole system to the last drop. Purchased everything from the dealership except the transmission oil. In the end of it all i added a little over 11 quarts of transmission oil. Truck is working beautifully.

      @@marcusjennings5838 Mine was not grinding or making noises. Any grinding or noise would most likely be a mechanical part problem and at that point I would look into a replacement transmission or rebuilt. Thanks for the video Juan. I have an 04 Ram 1500 with a 545rfe transmission in it. It recently started having an intermittent problem where it would not go into first gear when I come to a stop or shift into third when driving on the highway. More often than not, it works fine but when it doesn't, it feels like I am trying to take off in second gear. I can pull over (or wait until I hit a red light) and turn the engine off and then start it again, and it works fine. I've been thinking it was a shift solenoid but I've never changed one out before. This video just made life easier!

    I did same on 2006 model in 2017... It was $400 solenoid pack, screen, filter, 11 quarts of fluid. I got so lucky it stopped shifting 1st and 5th 5 hours away from my home. Next day i start and it all worked good the whole way home, 2 weeks later again, but in my city. I changed it then, if it's done soonest it happens, transmission remains undamaged. After fix, it was all great, super smooth shifting, no kicks in D selection, great Chrysler transmission at least for me

    Great video for the DIY'er! I was getting an OBD (check engine light) code P0750 for "Solenoid A," with the tranny going into limp-mode. Although I could clear the code and make the trans work again, it would come back at some point (hours/days/months). I replaced the solenoid pack and both filters using this video as my "go-to"... especially for that damn plug at the 00:40 mark. Transmission is back in operation like normal. THANKS!!
    **NOTE** for others... Not only does that "cam-lock" arm (white plastic) have the typical little red lock, it also has another push-type latch at the top, directly behind and centered to the arm itself. This latch must be pushed toward the transmission housing to release the arm. At that point, the arm moves freely to release the whole plug. I hope that will help others from breaking anything.
    p.s. - Use a VERY large pan (think large turkey roasting pan) for draining. Mine drained about 6-1/2 quarts, and almost went over the top of my goofy aluminum pan I bought at the grocery store.

    • @dcsco
      @dcsco 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that NOTE on removing the white plastic arm lock on the connector. That was very helpful.
      I'm going to try cleaning the connector pins first to see if that fixes the error code, before replacing the solenoid pack. I'm hoping that it might just be a bad connection...
      BTW, I'm getting a P0700 and P2706 code on a 2005 Durango with the 5.7 Hemi engine.

    So a couple things I learned doing this on an 06 dodge Dakota 4x4 with 4.7l engine. Before you pull the release on the plug their are 3 or 4 little clips holding it in place at the top you have to release them with your thumb before you pull down the white release just push them in towards the transmission. Secondly for this truck you had to remove the transmission support cross member 2 bolts on each side and four nuts under the support. other than that it went pretty smooth.

I have to push the gas pedal hard or the tow button to pass up cars. Seems to slip slightly sometimes as well but otherwise seems fine. Hello Mr Juan Castro great video! I had a question P0760 just came up on my 2004 Dodge Ram however whenever I turn the truck on there’s a whistle sound aswell kinda like a vaccum cleaner coming from the transmission would you say it would be the Solenoid?Any advice helps! Thanks!!

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ernest Gomez, whenever you hear vaccum like sounds in a transmission that does not have any vaccum pumps since the solenoid does all that work, it is very likely some kind of bearing or another metal on metal type of friction such as clutch plates. Best of luck.

    I recently had the same issue, since I bought my truck about three years ago it would kick and turn off at red lights and stop signs. Finally it kicked and went limp a block away from my house it gave me p0755(solenoid) and p0944 (required transflush). The mechanic said that it could be that the trans is really dirty and that is why it is reading faulty solenoid so we went ahead and did the transflush. Ran good for two months then it started kicking again. Now I’m on the verge of changing the solenoid but my question is I showed my bro this video but he told me to be verry cautious when touching something in the trans and recommended me to hire someone to do it instead any feedback would be good

      Eduardo, you are right about not wanting to touch the transmission if you're afraid of damaging it. I did it knowing that if I didn't get it to work I would have to take it to a shop and in reality I would have taken it to a shop anyway because of the shifting issue. Make sure you watch all the detailed stills I have in here with the location and torque (inch pounds, not foot pounds) for this job at time 2:22 and 5:50, as it would be one of the reasons for messing up your transmission if not done properly. Best of luck if you decide to do the job.

    05 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.7L with 158000 miles I did a lot of research on this and the dealer wanted $420.00 for the solenoid pack which Is made by Dorman. Carid has a (REMAN.) for $209.37 and was done by Dorman but the core charge Is $300.00 but they didn't waste any time giving the core chargeback. I have used a lot of reman. parts through the years and have been just as good and this Is the updated pack. I also got a Sonnax line Pressure Booster kit. @tazzzerolimitmc994 proper diagnosis of this problem requires special tool. Based on what I found on the Transmission service manual it can be mounted on the valve body or be part of the Solenoid. Codes include:

      Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
      Remove the Starter Relay.
      NOTE: Removal of the Starter Relay is to prevent a Transmission, NO RESPONSE, condition and disable the

      The solenoid pack is the solenoid. It's an all inclusive electromechanical part. See minute 9 of the video. Once I removed the valve body yhe only remaining parts inside the transmission are the gears

      So this part at autozone is called at kickdown solenoid, my engine light said I need a shift solenoid f what do I do , I got the shift solenoid and don’t look like I even have it

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have it you'll be able to know by the plug on the ouside of the transmission. If your transmission code says solenoid then I suggest buying it from the dealer. I always get big job parts from the dealer so that I don't have to work twice if the aftermarker part doesn't fit or doesn't work. Best of luck.

    Wow, your transmission is the cleanest one I have ever seen.
    It looks like a new vehicle. Did you degrease it?

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No degreaser. Arizona's dry weather keeps it dry and makes it easier to keep things clean

      Jon, it was around $250 from dodge, and yes it immediately corrected the shifting problem.
