    Thank you, Thank you, thanks you. I've never worked on a car or truck before and saved a ton of cash!!! I didn't even have car ramps and had it done in 45 minutes. My wife was so impressed she dropped her dress.

    Thanks for the video. My local Ringgold Dodge dealer wanted $1000 to change these parts. After watching the video I decided I can do this on my own and did and saved a ton of money. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish dropping the pan and cleaning it up and replacing the parts then closing it back up. The truck shifts great like it should.

    I can't thank you enough, I followed your instructions last week to replace pressure solenoid & sensor in my 01 Dakota and since then have driven 400+ miles with no problem, and no "1763" error code! You guys rock!

    I ordered the master solenoid kit for my 48RE from you guys a few days ago, and just recently installed it. Transmission works like it's supposed to now. The kit was great! Good packaging, included all the parts and gaskets. The small things make all the difference - including the misc gaskets and whatnot. The only notable difference is my torx bolts were T25's, not T20. The 48RE is mated behind a 5.9 diesel out of a '04 Ram 2500.

    I had this problem a few months back, took it to a Mechanic, charged me 350 dollars and 17 dollars for a sensor. It was better but not right. It did it again, My friend told me about your video. I bought the two parts from Auto Zone, 197 dollars plus oil, gasket and filter.
    It took me about what you said to do the work. Set up, drain, gasket and filter another hour. I ran it 3 miles with no problem. I drove it home, 23 miles and it shifts like a charm.
    I don't know what the guy I took it to put it, but it wasn't these two parts., I will never use him again. Thank you for your time it took to make the video and your knowledge you shared.

    Bought my governor sensor and transducer from Cascade. Came in 2 day to New Jersey. I just changed them with the help of this video. 07 ram 5.9 Cummins shifts like new with 101000 on the odometer. No more shutter shifting between 1st and 2nd. Down shifts into as it should as well. Thank you Cascade. I highly recommend.

    Hi, I feel so happy I found this video. I have a 2005 slt dakota. Transmission is 5 speed. Some times the check engine come up and I feel a hit in the transmission and it stay on 3er speed. Normally if it happens when I am doing a stop, I set 2nd and drive to a parking lot and turn it off, wait a minute and start over, set D and problem solved. Thanks for helping me with some idea about what to do to solved permanently this problem. Thanks.

    Very Informative, Thank you very much. Just got done doing this work today after ordering parts online. Your information here saved me lots of money and more importantly time and backache by describing the exact size of the nuts and torques that way I could grab every tool i needed before sliding under the truck rather then getting up and down 15 times to get the right sizes and tools. Much appreciated and again Thank you!!! (also fixed the issue i was having, truck was reving but not shifting properly and 3rd gear was all but useless, at high speeds would try to speed up and truck would go to 3rd only to switch to 2nd and redline in acouple seconds. All seems to be operating properly now 'knock on wood' and would not shift out of any gear unless at or above 3.5k rpms, was rather annoying and gas consuming,)

    • @billcat1840
      @billcat1840 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll notice 2nd to third shift will slip sometimes, especially under acceleration
      These bands grip a drum when applied and hold the drum stationary to complete the shift. Slipping bands will wear out and score the drum.

    Great info... Thanks.. Got an Auto 42RE that when warmed up(when cold, no problem!!!) will not easily shift into the next gear after stoping at a red light. It starts in the very lowest gear and then gradually shifts, which means you BETTER NOT STOP IT ON A HILL GOING UP!!! It has only one speed sensor but I bet that solenoid needs replacing too. Thank you, you were thorough, I was focused on the overdrive solenoid because I think that’s my problem. My 2002 newer gen takes long to drop into last gear, but if I let off gas it immediately goes into the gear. If I don’t let off gas it won’t go to next gear until I let off gas. Great video, you know a lot about Chrysler/dodge transmissions….

    I bought a complete kit from Cascade to replace all the sensors and solenoids in my Dodge 47RE transmission about a year ago, Transmission never did work right. I bought the billet update for the governor pressure solenoid and a new governor pressure sensor was part of the kit. I ohm tested the new governor pressure sensor and compared to the one that I had installed a year ago that came from Cascade, turns out that one I got from Cascade was wired wrong and that's why I have been fighting transmission problems for the last year....Thanks Cascade for the shit part and additional trouble

    Wanted to add that the Pressure Sensor on the OLDER models (non black plastic one in the video but the brass colored cylindrical pressure sensor on older models) has a metal retainer clip that holds it into the aluminum block. If you don't replace the paper casket it covers this clip and you may not know it's there.
    I was doing these on a 99 Dakota 4x2 with a 6cyl engine and just thought this may help someone else. I wasn't going to replace the paper gasket as mine was fine but that clip was hidden in the aluminum block by the gasket. It's not in your video because you're working on the newer plastic ones.
    Just an extra step some may not know. Glad to be done with this job, for the time being anyway.

    ok , that says its not seeing a clean pressure until you let off the throttle
    that issue could be the sensor/transducer , and or the Solenoid
    we always suggest to replace them as a set anyways , your symptom is especially common on 2000 and newer models

    Well this was awesome to see! My transmission guy is retired but he's been around since '68 and knows his chit. Told me this was an easy job and your video confirms that. I have codes P1762 and P1763 in my 46RE 318 Ram. The Ram has been religiously maintained since I got it new off the lot in '98. Decommissioned it a year ago but would run it to temp every month. Last month though, wouldn't come off the line in 1st gear and I couldn't manually pull it into gear either. I grew up wrenching pre chip cars and while I"m older and this messy job is a pain in the butt for me, I'm going to take it on cause I no longer have a shop that I can trust. P.S. Any special procedure for putting the pan/gasket back on? Thought I remembered something about this but...

  • @CascadeTransParts
    @CascadeTransParts  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    it may be the pressure set , but it sounds like a conbination of electrical and/or mechanical. Inside the transmission on top of the valve body is the detent arm which is the engagement arm inside for linkage. We do see these crack from time to time. It could also be a blown boost valve cover plate , or cracked servo.

    Hello , a burnt or burning smell is more than likely the clutch plates ; possibly a band
    i would suggest dropping the pan , and inspecting the fluid and magnet.
    if you have any fibers or fine metal debris in the bottom of the pan your problem may be serious. If things are fairly descent it may be as simple as a band adjustment. The burning smell isn't typical for these models though.

  • @CascadeTransParts
    @CascadeTransParts  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    the clunk could be a couple things ; most common is a worn sunshell , but that would have nothing to do with you symptom. more than likely you have a broken or tired spring in the valve body , or related area. I would have to assume this has alot of miles on it with it's age ? you may consider looking at a valve body replacement , if unsure how to narrow the search.

    Thank for the video. My '96 12v/47RE was stuck in limp mode with the ability to go down to 2nd only. I ordered all the parts from your site and replaced using this and other videos. After it was all said and done, everything works normal for 1-3 gears. However, it still wont go into 4th/overdrive. Should I replace the clutches or is there any other sensors/solenoids I should try before a overdrive rebuild.

  • @CascadeTransParts
    @CascadeTransParts  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello , always run only what the owers manual suggests for fluid
    the only additives suggested to use are lubeguard products
    have you tried to purge the system , and replace the fluid
    this may take couple services for most of the additive to be evacuated
    the parts to rebuild it should be less than $500.00 , but not sure if any good builders can do it for $1500 , and still have good warranty/workmanship

    Hello ,
    not that i recall , there may be a difficult angle on it , and the extension you mention has a knuckle , or joint ? you should be able to get around it with a swivel if needed.
    most don't use a torque wrench for band adjustment , just snug it down firm (not hard) , then back it out 2.5 turns , and secure the nut

    very odd symptom , may sound like a dumb question , but have you check the fluid levels when cold , and hot ? It sounds like a pressure issue , but doesn't sound solenoid related.

    I've got a few questions regarding a 1999 Durango: 5.2L. with 317K.
    I am about to replace the Governor Pressure Sensor, which I watched your video (7:22) and found it very helpful.
    However, I cannot find the "Transducer" you speak of at Auto zone. Is there another name for it that I am unaware of?
    I recently bought this truck from someone who put the wrong ATF in the transmission, and it was awful.
    The previous owner said that the truck would get stuck in first gear and couldn't be shifted out of 1st. Only time would release its grips on 1st gear. So I brought it home. After draining the fluid, replacing it with ATF+4, filter, and gasket. I was hoping that would fix the issue, but no. This is what it does NOW:
    Putting the Truck into drive, it goes immediately into 2nd gear. trying to pull away from the curb feels like your towing a ton of bricks behind you. It will shift into 3rd, 4th, and OD, and back down again all fine and dandy. It has a slight slipping problem under the stress of hills, but very manageable. HOWEVER, every once in a while, 1st gear will "grab" (like coming our of a corner at a light, and stepping on the gas), but it will immediately up shift into 2nd gear. So my thought is Governor Pressure Sensor a.k.a. Governor Pressure Solenoid. I believe that the Solenoid is prolly bad, and that's the ticket. I've looked thru virtually a million threads trying to find someone who has experienced the same issues, but have yet to find one. If you or anyone out there knows what will work best, please contact me at (jetroallen at gmail dot com).
    I will make sure to post if the Pressure Sensor replacement was a success or failure.
    To Be Continued...
    ***PLEASE USE THIS POST/ADDRESS***

    Hello ,
    during the service was it flushed ?
    flushing these units can often cause the solenoid to plug up with debris.
    over 90% of the time the pressure solenoid set replacement will correct the problem. Please feel free to email further questions through our site.

    Hello - the TCC solenoid is mounted on the bracket with the Overdrive Solenoid ; the wiring harness is also connected to it. We offer the assembly on our site for a 1996 to 1999 truck see our part # 12420B , for a 2000 and newer see our part # 12420C
    hope this helps

    Please explain.... what symptions are produced if this gaget is malfunctioning? When driving... what is felt? soft shits? no over drive? hunting for next gear? do it effect all gears? Does it also effect torque lock up? If it fails... will trans become a dead brick or will trans go into a sleep mode so I can still travel... like it stays in one fail safe gear so I am not stranded.? Thanks for clear... easy to follow instructions.

    I really liked the video, very informative. I have a 2001 dodge w/5.9 cummins. I have no idea which trans I have. So 1st of all, how do I identify the trans? Secondly, it's not shifting into overdrive at all. I've been told there is a sensor/switch on the side of trans. But I'm not sure of even that. Lots of experience with 18 wheelers and Cummins engines, but nothing w/auto trans. Could it be as simple as a ground problem? Any help would be wonderful!!!!

    Hello - as an "RH" you won't have a governor solenoid , you will have a conventional governor. It is mounted on the output shaft , and to reach/replace it you will need to remove and dis-assemble the overdrive section

    Hello - it could be a variety of issues , torque converter , driveline , ujoints , after sitting that long you may want to have the wheels balanced also

    I have my truck up using two jacks I bought and resting now on cinder blocks so I can get around in there and work laying under it, would be easier on a lift sure but hey, work with what you have right?

    yes this is the Borg Warner direct fit solenoid , we also carry the Extreme Duty GM Conversion solenoid which mounts to the valve body via a Billet Aluminum Machined Block. you can reuse the base gasket about half the time , we also offer them new on our site

    Hello Pat ,
    you may have more than one issue.
    the 2nd gear starts are most commonly the pressure solenoid set
    the Tcc code coming up can be caused by a ground issue as well , which these models can be known for. Additionally the 02 sensor , and/or the Tps can cause this code to trigger as they share the same ground.
    Please feel free to email me further through our Site.
