I was not expecting to see you here but while you are I just wanted to say I got into your channel recently and your videos are amazing. Also, thanks for getting me to read Jennette McCurdy's book, it was great in it's own right but it helped me a lot with things going on in my own life.
I guess now is a good time to point out actual Transformers toys have to make compromises all the time for the toy to work. Usually either with robot mode parts still being visible or not covered up fully in vehicle mode, or big chunks of car(usually the roof or sometimes the hood) are just a massive backpack for the robot mode, so a lego version needing to do compromises for it to transform isn't really to surprising or upsetting.
I like the transformation. It’s a bit more complex than Optimus. I really want Soundwave imagine a transforming LEGO cassette player(sorry, not a boombox, ik, don’t k*ll me please😅)
I am slightly disappointed at the slight parts forming on Bumblebee but it's not a dealbreaker. Agreed that Soundwave would be the best logical choice given the problematic alt mode(s) for Megatron and (to a lesser extent) Starscream (seeing how anti-firearms and anti-military vehicle that Lego generally is). I do want to point out that Soundwave doesn't turn into a boombox (that would be his Autobot counterpart, Blaster). G1 Soundwave transforms into a micro cassette recorder.
@@arcturionblade1077 Oh sorry😅 Idk much about the differences between the two. Also, I see you used the word “logical”. I see behind your mask, Shockwave😂
@@frankgarcia6241 that's true but I think they would shy away just because it's a firearm. But I would be happy with either Megatron or starscream. I just feel starscream would be more likely to happen. But great suggestion
@@frankgarcia6241Even that would be pushing the limits of Lego's stated anti-firearms stance. I don't think Lego would want kids running around with a gun shaped toy. Yeah, we have those oversized Ninjago weapons (swords and what not) for kids to play with but it's a far cry from mimicking firearms.
"Realistic walking vehicle..." It's not an AT-AT. Joking aside, I'm definitely planning to get this Day One, as bumblebee has been my favorite Transformer since G1. And the original Bumblebee toy had no leg articulation, so this is definitely a step up, pun intended. He also had no head articulation and very little arm articulation. As for who next Transformer set, I'd love to see Starscream or Shockwave. Although Shockwave has a similar problem as that of Megatron; both of their original toys transformed into guns, although Shockwave transformed into a sci-fi laser pistol, so he might have an easier time getting approved.
I think they did a great job considering the circumstances, these LEGO Transformers sets can't be easy to design in general but Bumblee being so compact has to cause a lot of problems. I can't blame someone who isn't that into the property for not seeing past the flaws though. I grew up in the 00's which was a weird time for Transformers with new continuity after continuity, especially in cartoons with 7 different series between 01 and 010 and only 3 had anything to do with each other, plus there was the Bay movies and the High Moon games. I also ended up seeing reruns of G1 and Beast Wars but between all that Armada is what I love and want to see the most, which probably has near zero chance of getting anything done with it (although at the time Hasbro did their own off-brand LEGO line with it). Still, Hasbro bassicly made G1 designs or slight variations the evergreen versions that are always around and I can't help having some attachment to that too. So I want to say do Armada Hot Shot or Jetfire next but realistically I think it has to be Megatron and depending on how long this goes, eventually Starscream, Soundwave, Grimlock, Jazz, and maybe some of the movie characters, and I'll get them all if I can.
As a fan of both Transformers and LEGO for 40+ years, as well as a MOC builder focused on transforming mecha, I have mixed feelings about this model. LEGO Transformers has been a dream theme since 1984, and I'm glad it's happening even in this limited form (Icons). However, as Chris pointed out, execution in both forms leaves somewhat to be desired: the car form wants to be a VW Bug, but falls short in the rear, making it look more like a 50s coupe. Too, there's the issue of visible joints and odd colors breaking up the yellow. In bot mode, oh my where do I start? First, by design, it's a very stiff looking robot. I understand stability is priority, but any premise of dynamism is lost. Much like the G1 toy that inspired it, the arms are really your main source of meaningful articulation, and they're quite limited, much more so than current parts will allow. The foot panels, due to the way they fold, break up the nice iconic rounded bonnet of the car which form his toes, and I wish Sam had been able to locate the ankle farther back in the foot to preserve that particular detail. Not all's bad, however. I love the new Technic piece and the way it was utilized to facilitate transformation. I think the head design and the face print are spot-on. Even his gun is similar to a generic design oft used in the G1 toon and comes with a number of Transformer toys, both official and non. The transformation schema works smoothly and seems to lock together solidly, often a challenge due to LEGO being LEGO when putting tabs and locks where they're most effective can often compromise structural integrity or necessitate a difficult angle. I give props to Sam for not only accepting the challenge, seemingly in the face of much doubt of its feasibility (I'd love to know why anyone would doubt such a thing when MOCs exist that do the same), but rising to the occasion and delivering. Is it what we fans, especially Transformers fans used to a high degree of articulation and complexity in modern TF toys want? Maybe not, but it's a step in the right direction and it gives hope for more TF characters to be realized in LEGO form. That's a very good thing IMHO, and at the end of the day it's LEGO; if you don't like what's in the box, you can mod it or design your own, which is what I'll probably do with Bee.
@@Idkallhandlesareunavailable I intend to get the set regardless. If I end up wanting to mod it, I'll likely get a second copy and rework it. If my vision of Bee works out then I'll likely post it on my Flickr account.
I don’t know about megatron, in several different iteration, he turns into a gun, a tank, and a fighter jet, so itll be a bit “too” hard for lego to make megatron “passable”, the only decepticon I think can pass is sound wave.
Have you seen any rebrickable moc bumblebee online? This is miles ahead of those. And compare to original G1 bumblebee toys, this is way better model than those for the price you are paying
If universal studios decides continue the original Lego movie story here what my imagine how the plot goes after rex defeated Syspocalypstar was in peace and harmony until was attack by a group of Villains from the Hasbroveres (Megatron, Queen Chrysalis, Cobra Commander, Miles Mayham and Cy Kill) lead by the brickster Emmett and the Syspocalypstar Citizens try their best to defend themselves but they were to powerful most of them are taken prisoners only Emmett, Lucy, Batman, Unikitty ,Benny,President Business,Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi,General Sweet Mayhem and MetalBeard manage escape until they were surrounded by Megatron and Queen Chrysalis all hope seems lost until a truck run over on Megatron and it was Revealed to be non other than Optimus Prime leader of the Autobots and he was not alone the Alicorn princess Twilight Sparkle, Duke The Gi joe Agent ,Matt Trakker leader of M.A.S.K. and Leader one leader of the guardians they told them come with them they promised gonna help them rescue the others
Great review Chris! Can't wait to see which Transformer comes out next! 😍
Can't wait to get this one and modify the arms and legs. And those gray parts in vehicle, you can consider them to be "battle damages".
Hope they make more transformers in the future
Yeah with legos.
Lego is the plural form of the word legos is the wrong way to say it lego is both singular and plural@nilesclifford9704
They probably will
Super excited for this one!

Since I already have Optimus, I'll definitely be getting this one. But since I just ordered the Shadow Dojo, I'll wait until late July to gwt it
I wish LEGO can make minifigure scale Transformers sets.
I’m just happy to have lego Bumblebee with Optimus Prime.
Also Bumblebee is my fav transformer.

WE NEED MORE!!!!!!
We need starscream next.. Megatron is cool but I've always liked starscream better 😂
sadly i dont see either of them happening due to them being too irl weapon and warmachine like. my bet would go for a Soundwave being most likely next
@@M0torsagmannen I thought the same thing but they could do the jet mode more civilian like than Megatron's because his is an actual firearm.
Megatron could also just turn into a big Lego gun piece .... Just a thought

Just built his alt build, it sick!

Yeah, the steps for the transformation seems to be on par with what actual Transformers Figures have.
Oh its beautiful! Im hoping we get soumdwave next
Or grimlock.
Cant wait for them to release this in red and call it cliffjumper
Tru, would only take one minute to design instead of anyear
Would have been nice to get some stickers to cover the grey side pieces

I can tell you’ve walked down these stairs so many times that you can do it backwards without falling 🤣
Without falling is nothing. Without knocking off stuff is another story.
G1 Soundwave with Buzzsaw cassette.
Soundwave cassette version is best decepticon LEGO can do instead lieu of Megatron
I think its going to be soundwave next, Hasbro loves soundwave and lego loves their household objects.
Already have mine on the way by the way look up the titans return legends class bumblebee it is pretty accurate to the lego model

Lego may not have Megatron as it’s either a gun or a tank which LEGO may not want to build for children
G1 Soundwave will be the 3rd since Lego will not do Megatron and Starscream(big gun and FIGHTER JET)
Solution is make more sci fi look

His legs💀
Looks kinda goofy to me, especially the legs
bumblebee is so oversaturated in transformers now, so if this and optimus are the only transformers they end up making, I'm gonna be so salty about it
I’m just gonna say one thing, all it takes is one flood and then the Lego goes bye bye :(
