OG Megatron turns into a gun, and even if they did a tank I just dont see Lego doing that. I think soundwave is a lot more likely as far as decepticons go
If they still keep the 18+ age rating they could make it a gun. The only reason Megatron is a tank usually is because they can’t sell mass produced gun toys. If it’s aimed towards adults and a collectors item then it’d be fine. I still agree that soundwave would make much more sense, one because of the simplicity and also it might go against Lego’s ethics or wtv to make guns (still don’t really get that one but wtv).
Soundwave would be cool; perhaps they could put in the Lego sound brick and have him say a few words with his cool voice. (The price would skyrocket, but still…)
I think if you're going to be a lego fan you're going to need to just accept the limitations of shapes that can be created with bricks. honestly, I think this looks pretty cool and I will certainly be picking one up to display next to Optimus.
I think for a Bumblebee built entirely out of Lego and still have the ability to properly transform is impressive in itself. The head design, face print is phenomenal, and the proportions are more or less accurate enough. Only improvement I'd like to see his articulated knees, and ankle pivots, and way for the wheels to fold beneath the feet. While I get stability is a major contributor to the static leg design, what I don't get is how Ninjago can figure out articulated knees on a mech twice as tall and bulky as Bee. Complaints aside definitely going to pick up alongside the Optimus Prime when I get a chance.
Scaling in the cartoon was always a bit off, I like to think this bumblebee is more scaled to how big he is in movies/Prime/more modern cartoons where he isn't small but comes up to the waist or higher of Optimus Prime
Honestly I don't mind the scale and posability issues, as the original toys were hardly the most faithful representations of their cartoon counterparts anyway. Bumblebee in robot mode actually looks pretty good. Not too sure about the car mode though. I do hope we get a Decepticon next; Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream would all make excellent choices. And further down the line I'm hoping for Grimlock, a combiner (Constructicons being the obvious choice), Insecticons, and maybe a really big set like Omega Supreme?
I gotta disagree with your thoughts on the car mode. I think it looks great. The only downside is some of the hinges showing and the ability to see the bricks through the windshield. Other than that I think it’s pretty perfect.
G1 Megatron I think is one of those hard ones for Lego as he transforms into a big gun, which probably goes against LEGO ideals. I think Starscream or (My personal choice) Soundwave are more likely to happen.
@@tylerfrench1299nah, Starscream has a fair chance of happening. Fighter jets are in a weird position. The lego creator theme is absolutely filled with "civilian" jets that are basically fighter jets in all but name.

Would also love G1 Megatron but there is no chance in hell of that being made since Megatron transformed into a large gun. Maybe Starscream or Shockwave (transforms into cassette player, complete with transforming cassette tape)…
kinda wished they made him even smaller, so the transformed vehicle form would be more in scale with each other. still think i will get this in the future though
Honestly I think the robot version looks quite nice. The car version is a bit bulky indeed and maybe some after market MOC can solve some of it. Scale wise I think this is better and more to real truck-beetle ratio as well. In the animated series they didn’t work really well on scale. This is also why for example the shoulders look so massive. In the series they just “shrunk” things to match proportions. Definitely going to buy this one and place it next to OP + MOC trailer.
megatron probably won't be made due to Lego's rules around making realistic weapons. Soundwave is more likely, unless Lego is working on a "Helmet" series for Transformers. I will be definitely getting this though
Awesome review, thank you. I picked this up yesterday at the mall, Lego had a few in stock. Great price point at $89. Vehicle mode is great, but I feel he really shines in bot mode. Transformation took about 20 minutes-I was being very careful. Lower legs and feet area were extremely fragile so be careful when you transform this thing. I can't wait to display him next to my Lego Optimus Prime. I'm excited for future Transformers Lego sets.
I did not want it at first but I will get it now. I think it looks good, including the car. I like the rugged look of the car. Thank you for the review.
As a G1 fan, I don’t love this. Just my opinion. I doubt we’ll see Megatron since his alt mode is a gun, but I think a soundwave or starscream would be incredible!
I saw the prototype version of this, and I kinda prefer how it had the windshield in abdominal area. it's a bit more accurate, and I think it could eliminate any need for partforming, which is my biggest issue with the set
Don’t forget the amount of factors needed to be made to make this set, just to lead to much compromises. I will buy it, but maybe on sell or with a gwp

Pretty cool set. With plenty of printed pieces where they’re the main highlight while the stickers are minor stuff. I’ll probably skip on this and hope they make a sound wave or shock wave.
I think we can ask recognise the challenge here, I saw the designer on IG announcing it and he said it took a year to design. My first impression was not great, it doesn't really work in either mode. On second look here, I've come round a little bit and like it a bit more. The issue is, it doesn't grab you like the Optimus set, it's missing the wow factor. I think this will be for completionists and hard core lego fans, it won't appeal to the casual market.
Amazing review 💪 the only thing I hate about the Optimus Prime LEGO set was that it is so fragile and sensitive. I’m happy to see that bumblebee has stability
I’m into both Lego and Transformers, but Transformers is really what I collect and am interested in. I can forgive most if not all the sacrifices made for this set to work, but the main point of contention for me and it looks like most people who are only really interested in Transformers is the removable windshield. The parts-forming element is something most Transformers figures try to avoid, and though I don’t usually have much of a problem, it is definitely a factor that has made quite a few people swear it off for even existing. Again, it’s understandable given the fact that this is a Lego set that transforms, but it is something that’s going to limit sales a bit for some or the transformers audience.
I also want to see a megatron transformers lego figure. How will Lego get past their own rules about (not)shaping legos into looking like real weapons? Gen 1 Megatron was a blaster (gun).
As a transformers fan im just happy we are getting lego transformers, looks dont matter to me. Hopefully we get a megatron, starscream soundwave or shockwave next
The next LEGO Transformer will have to be one with a simple transformation. My guess would be a Soundwave or a Black Optimus Prime. If they do a Megatron, then it will be a tank and will cost more than Optimus since it will be a bigger toy.
I would not be surprised if Grimlock is next. I never cared for the Dinobots, but he was really hyped in the recent movies and toys (and cartoons and comics).
I dont understand the hate in the comments, back kibble is a staple of any transformers toy, its inevitable, and designers for official transformers toys always make sacrifiecs on the vehicle mode, and remember this is LEGO so even more sacrifices (shoulders) have to be made for it to transform correctly.
I would only buy it through a retailer. in Europe prime is heavily discounted and you can buy it for around 120 EUR. so I guess that after 6 months or so bumblebee will be around 60 / 70 EUR
Just imagine this: -Soundwave! Very easy transformation, but give him the casettes for Ravage, Laserbeak, Rumble, and Frenzy. The plaque should read, “Soundwave superior.”
As someone who collects both Lego and transformers I love the Optimus from last year and I think I’ll pick this one up though I don’t think it’s as good in looks
Megatron originally being a gun and now a tank I highly doubt he will come to fruition. The only possible Decepticons we will see is Soundwave being part of the main roster. Alternatively they could have Reflector, Insecticons or the individual Construticons or Stunticons.
Honestly I think it is good, this is only the second time they have made a transforming set. It is only fair to give them some leeway, for the quality in both modes and how close it is to the OG I’m definitely getting this set to pair with prime. Also btw your grill on Optimus is the wrong way, it is supposed to be horizontal not vertical.
Lego shot themselves on the foot by deciding this needed to be a G1 Bumblebee. Given the "stylized choices" they made this looks more like Animated Bumblebee than his 84 design. If you change the face printing, tweak the back so it looks more square-ish, and add a black stripe this is just Animated Bumblebee
It’ll be hard to create megatron but personally id love a soundwave man and that he turns into a radio. Nothing else, of course with laser beak & ravage along🙏💯. As for bumblebee I love it. Man I’m just a happy transformer fan that we’re getting LEGO SETS that can literally transform man. 💯
I now it's been said a billion times in the comments, but Megatron won't happen. He was gun - based on the original series and toys. Please don't come at me about alternate G1 versions. The tank version wouldn't be in line with the G1 cartoon Optimus and Bee anyway. Either Starscream or Soundwave is much more likely if they continue the series.
I think people are being way too harsh on this set. It had to be ridiculously difficult to come up with a functional design for a lego bumblebee. For those who mention TH-camr redesigns, it's easy to make redesigns when you spend all day in a basement and have a base model to work off of
Personally I don't see how they could have done any better than they did considering that it transforms and has to be stable. If there's enough red parts available I might buy 2 and colour swap it to make a Cliffjumper!
I think LEGO should just use the transformer license to make speed champions scale models (preferably the michael bay designs). Even though they won't be able to transform, I think they'd be cool
If Lego is really against Megatron being a gun, they could make him the first Lego Transformer to only have a robot form. The G1 Megatron transformed into a gun that fit into Starscreams hand, which is a ridiculous concept anyway. I think it would be odd to start the Decepticon side with Starscream or Soundwave. Iconic as they are, they are clearly second in command type characters(I can only speak to the G1 cartoon, not comics, etc). Do people actually transform the Lego sets? I keep OP in robot form and will do the same with Bumblebee.
I am a long time Transformers fan. You can probably tell by my icon. Yes, I am looking forward to this Lego product. No, I have no issue with the design, I know certain sacrifices needed to be made in the design. And, I don't think that there will ever be a Megatron, not the G1 version anyway, he transformed into a gun, and Lego wont want to have anything to do with that.
Is it really 'fairly accurate' to the original toy? I just don't see any of the Penny Racer features here. Front of the car, windshield, the wheels, distance between them... Nothing matches, outside of being 'a vaguely VW Beetle yellow car'.
The only thing missing in this review is a comparison with Optimus Prime in their car modes. It would be interesting to see because Bumblebee is supposedly oversized.
Unfortunately, my father wants to order the set from a very specific store, but they're stocking up the set in September, three months after ots release, so I have to wait for a long time to get the set even after its release

The only thing missing in this review is a comparison with Optimus Prime in their car modes. It would be interesting to see because Bumblebee is supposedly oversized.
He is bee reaches the top of Optimus
I want a G1 Soundwave. Can’t see an original G1 megatron coming in gun form.
Can the gun be hidden, like optimus?
Unfortunately, my father wants to order the set from a very specific store, but they're stocking up the set in September, three months after ots release, so I have to wait for a long time to get the set even after its release
Give Lego credit I think make plastic mode it have to be difficult, just enjoy and if you liked put in your collection
Kinda weird they didn’t license the volkswagen for the set when they have in the past.
They aren’t going to be doing G1 Megatron. Soundwave is far more likely.
Why not compare Bumblebee and Optimus prime in car mode to see the size difference? According to the designer they are in the same scale.
I hope they make Tfp sets with Optimus and Bumblebee
