My dad did a tour of Nam in 67-68. He was a country boy from rural Kentucky and spent alot of time in the hills hunting and fishing. Nothing much scares or bothers him. But he still maintains to this day that the jungles of Vietnam "had other things going on" that were beyond rational explanation.

I don't know what's more frightening: that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was either misreported to enable escalation of the Vietnam war or it was a cover story for an encounter with....something.

@@MrChris1316 The first incident absolutely happened. The second one was just a bunch of anomalous radar and sonar contacts. The Maddox's captain didn't even think it was a real attack but he was ignored.

This is the first time I've heard of stone apes being a doubtful cryptid. My uncle, a Special Forces green beret, told me stories of tigers and cobras and the general bummer that was Vietnam including "rock apes" who would follow them during the day and throw rocks at them at night. He just described them as a type of ass-whole gorillas. I never doubted these stories at all and it was the only time I ever heard him talk about the war. If he called them rock or stone apes I don't recall for sure but this is clearly what he was referring to.
My Dad was a SAS black ops super spy triple agent & he told me that big foot and the lockness monster was undercover agents for the commies... Keep this hush hush it's still classified

@@ted__ryan same story. It's not like in the movies, you don't see dragons and space aliens, things just get colorful, stuff looks like it's vibrating, patterns appear on everything, but that's it.
They could easily get paranoid, see a normal sized monkey, and think its far larger than it actually is due to a mixture of poor lighting, unfamiliar setting, sleep deprivation, and of course intoxication.
Also these "immaginary" apes sending soldiers to the hospital.
Again it doesn’t work like that. Paranoia from weed is the same as normal paranoia..you have a sense of unease, you don’t see 8ft monkey men tearing towards you. Plus they won’t Ll have had the same paranoia or hallucinations!
I've heard about the encounter involving the Maddox and Turner Joy. Most people I know think the mystery "attackers" were porpoises. Seriously, even today, dolphins and porpoises will race Navy ships and boats, to the point of coming up to inspect hulls or divers and then zipping away at high speeds and incredible angles. Sonar doesn't mean squat to them and their instincts are so keen, they can accelerate away at the first hint of danger, like depth charges or shells hitting the water. They simply avoid the weapons, wait a few moments to see if more are coming and then resume their little games.
In peacetime, this was always fun to watch. In war, I imagine it would spook jittery crews, though I imagine the Navy would have been embarrassed to admit that two of their destroyers wasted 650 shells firing at dolphins and concocted the fake attack to save themselves from ridicule.
P.S.: Last time I checked, dolphins and porpoises are NOT of human origin.

I knew a man who was a member of the elite MACVSOG in Vietnam. After a year he had gotten to know me well enough to tell me about his encounter with “Rock Apes”. Among his group they weren’t a fairytale or a joke, they were real.
It’s quite unnatural but I have not seen any report or accounts from vnese soldiers about these entities

When I was a kid my dad would tell stories of the Vietnam war including an encounter his squad had with a group of Rock apes who came out of a cave and started throwing rocks at them. I didn't think much of it at the time but I'm certainly going to ask for more details now.
There was no need to have the water flowing in the last illustration - superb attention to detail, going over and above to ensure high quality - brilliant.
I had a teacher in High school who was in the Marines in Viet Nam. He claims to have encountered them. He said the first thing you learned about them was NOT to throw grenades at them, because they would throw them back at you. He said the first such time, a young private thought he would be funny by casually rolling one at them. He thought they would pick it up and examine it...and BOOM. They didnt. They threw it immediately back at them, sending the troop of marines diving for cover. I just assumed they were big apes, like gorillas. Nope.

@@thedoruk6324 I don't have a story exactly about Afghan Giants. But when I was on a layover flight from Iraq a guy coming from Afghanistan asked me have I heard of the Afghan Giant and I said no. He didn't say anything he just got up and walked away and as he was walking away I said what is up with that? He said you wouldn't understand and kind of walked away and that was the first time I ever heard of it and then looked it up once I came back to the States

Let's face it, this is all being said because of prejudice and racism. The war was primarily fought by poor and minorities. Who gets villifide for their supposed over consumption of drugs? The poor and minorities. Not saying there wasn't drug use, but the numbers seem greatly exaggerated.

The widespread usage of drugs as a coping mechanism was started largely by Nixon and his regime in order to excuse away several warcrime incidents during the Vietnam War. LSD has psychological effects on a person but shared delusions are very, very rare - to the point that several of these reported encounters having the same root cause is almost preposterous. As for Weed, there have never been any reports of it having a psychological effect on users outside of moderate to severe memory loss and poor taste in diet choices.

Many strange sightings during war time. During World War 2 I heard stories about hell hounds prowling the battlefield at night. That soldiers could feel it was there.

Isn't it a wonderful thing that 'experts'(sceptics), who aren't around at the time of a given encounter, will be more than happy to explain to those, who are actual eyewitnesses, that didn't see what they thought they saw, they saw 'swamp gas', or they were high as kites at the time. Their habit to rationalize away anything that does not fit into their worldview runs automatically.
There's skeptics, as in we need hard evidence, and then there's debunkers, who determined before hand that it was all fake/nonexistence and then explain why it's all fake no matter now convoluted their "rational" explanation is.
Actual Eyewitnesses are demonstrably wrong as hell a significant percentage of the time, though. It'd be foolish to uncritically accept eyewitness testimony just because it's eyewitness testimony, however sincerely believed.

Like the new intro looks pretty cool.
My grandfather fought in Vietnam... and he would never bring it up or talk about it. Unless, that is, someone else brought it up. Being a young, fascinated boy, I would sometimes query him about what he did in the war and how many battles he fought in, but he would never talk about that stuff. Instead he would always bring up the rock apes. He would talk about how they would sit at the edge of the jungle and make noises at them like they were mocking them, then they would start throwing rocks at their foxholes.
In fact, any time that anyone brought up Vietnam, he would immediately start talking about the giant apes he saw there. He said one night he got fed up with their shit and just lit up the jungle with his M60 until he was out of ammo... of course everyone else in the platoon started shooting too. They found a lot of blood in the morning, but no apes.
I always thought that was odd and a bit stupid when I was a kid. Here you were, being shot at by other humans who wanted to kill you, but he was always talking about angry apes in the jungle. I guess they scared him more than the VC/NVA.

The thing is, there were also hundreds of accounts of Vietcong soldiers describing similar encounters. North Vietnamese also sent a scientific expedition to search for Rock Apes. There are also stories of American soldiers confiscating Vietcong maps with whole sections of jungle marked as Rock Ape territories.
The firts part also have a fire angel, you forget about the fire angel.

Even if LSD was being used during wartime, I find it hard to believe every soldier in a platoon partook in it at the same time whenever the rock apes were encountered. There's always at least a couple people that had to be sober and alert in case of enemy forces showing up.
See some smoke, walk in without even a gas mask, seems smart.
